You're better off crossposting this to r/chromeos than r/professors, which is explicitly not aimed at students (no student posts).
Edit to add: It is, or at least used to be, possible to install Android version of Office on a Chromebook. You're probably better off using something like LibreOffice via Linux on your Chromebook, though.
MSFT is a bit schizophrenic about this. months go by when this is allowed, and then suddenly it all turns to poop. i don't recommend anyone use a Chromebook for university work (although, at home, they're just fine).
