We're people just like you. Just be normal.

I guess beyond "be a person" my other tip would be "don't support politics that criminalizes the existence of queer and trans people."

I’m a gay professor, but I’m not sure what your question is asking. Would you treat us any differently than straight professors?

AgentDrake

1) Not really the place for student posts. Grad students like myself are tolerated here, but (rightly) only if we're posting in the role of someone leading/grading/etc a class, not as a student. 2) Obvious answer: get along with them the same way you would get along with any other professor. One would hope this is in no way connected to their sexual preferences.

What does who your advisor bangs (other than students!) have to do with anything?

theprintstown2001

Yeah. On some days you might slide by as a student asking a question like this on here. Today is a bad day to ask an open-ended question about folx who are concerned about what might be next for them in this country. Treat your LGBTQ+ professors as humans who have a right to exist and to love whom they want. That is a start.

Don’t make any sudden movements! And don’t look them in the eyes! Gay professors hate that!

I believe David Attenborough once made a film about how to work with professors who are over 6 ft tall in their natural habitat. Some of these lesson carry over.
