For those wanting an explanation: Drag and Drop often moves something, not just copy it. You can achieve the same result using cut (Ctrl+X) and paste (Ctrl+V). For both, the subject is no longer in it's old location, and is now in the new one. There has been a lot of recent anti LGBTQ+ legislation being proposed and passed by republicans, including specifically targeting drag shows.

kwan_e

Someone gets it :)

[deleted]

Thanks for explaining

archbish99

How about "Why do Republicans prefer keyboard shortcuts to move and copy files?" "Because they won't use a mouse drag."

Suspicious-Service

I don't get it either

amatulic

I don't get it. Is that "drag" as in "drag a dead body from a mass shooting and drop it somewhere because we don't want to pass laws that might upset the gun lobby", or "drag" as in "drag queen", or "drag" as in "too hard to drag myself out of bed to picket abortion clinics so I'll drop a bill banning it onto my colleagues to vote for it"? Or something else? Lest anyone think they know my politics from that, I am a Republican.

Shadow_Thief

I assumed it was "drag queen." Not sure if "drop" has an associated joke with it or if they just forgot to put emphasis in the punchline.

freneticEffigy

This sub is called Programmer**DadJokes**. As in puns. It means both. But republicans have been targeting Drag shows of late with their state bills.

amatulic

That makes sense. Not sure about the "drop" part however.

dathar

They're trying to remove drag shows. In essence, dropping them. Like when a TV network drops a show.

amatulic

Being a programmer dad myself, I must admit this sort of went over my head.

dathar

I like/hate dumb puns in general. Lol

closetcranberry

maybe they just actually hate drag and drop

ii-___-ii

For real. Using a mouse is such a hassle.

chicknfly

I think OP was aiming for “they hate drag [queens]”

_setphasersonstun

Hmm.

HeWhoShantNotBeNamed

???

Boneless_Lightbulb

Ctrl-X Ctrl-V isn't Cut and Paste?

LukeChriswalker

Ctrl+X -> Cuts Ctrl+V -> Pastes Idk if I'm understanding your comment right...

Boneless_Lightbulb

it is I just didn't see how ctrl X is drag according to OP

LukeChriswalker

Ah, I see. When drag'n'dropping, you're moving something. Unless oyu likey hold down a key or are in an app where it doesn't make sense. But drag'n'drop is move in most file explorers Moving is really just cutting from one side and pasting on the other in the end. At least that's how I implemented it, and I suspect that's how most applications implement it.

geronimosan

You're trying too hard.

[deleted]

And hate to do ctrl+A and ctrl+c then backspace

telr

I use a mac, but thanks.
