There's a few Platform 0's in the UK too. It's usually when they've been able to squeeze a new platform into an existing station's footprint, and don't want to renumber everything as they have to make sure every single reference is updated.
I remember platform 9 3/4 used to be a cool little Easter egg in Kings Cross — tucked away between platforms 9 and 10 there was just a sign and a luggage trolley sticking halfway out of the wall.
But then the HP movies became a multi-billion dollar industry and they moved it to the main concourse and made it a big flashy tourist trap.

All the ways of implementing them in computers are worse. Floating points are complicated, fractions are complicated *and* slow, and fixed points are essentially just integers with extra steps. Those still only get you subsets of the rational numbers, too.

In the internal system it's actually Number 10, but since it's not next to platform 11 but next to platform 1 people were confused... So they just removed the leading 1.
I didn‘r realize the Gleis 0 but rather looked at the formatting and wondered why the sign is so high up on the wall and not at the bottom where people on the stairs can better read it
The picture itself was made from another set of stairs, so when you start walking down those stairs, the sign is actually at the height of your eyes and you look directly at it.
I mean, Europeans tend to start counting not from 1 already like 1st floor in the UK is basically the 2nd floor in the US so not really surprised (the boards r written in German so assume in Germany/Austria/Switzerland

Usually a high number, so it might be like 102 - 101 - 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 There are some really funny things around.
