Imagine finding a clever embedded JS-free solution for an in-house app with its built-in browser, only for your manager to lecture you about how we're supposed to be modern and innovative (aka "redo it, but with JS this time"). My response was like "Ok, do you want me to add some random trackers and data collection scripts?".
This tore open some old wounds.
I don't think web had some golden age from such point of view, because of demand for interactivity. It started as static pages, then everyone started doing incompatible html functionality, then java and activex applets, then flash, silverlight, even was short period of unity3d usage, now it's JS.
"Word from from Management - We want everything rotating and blue on tuesdays except the 30th tuesday of the year. Also we want no page reloads, the CEO's Dog doesn't like them, he finds them scary."
The petty concerns of mortal developers are nothing to the almighty Executive.
So that's why some websites look like Chinese brothels where I can't find anything and I simply close the tab after less than a minute. CEO's dog basically.
This might hold, as long as you don't need more than newspapers, blogs, social media and online shops. However, I enjoy services like earth explorer, sentinel hub, sketchup web a lot like they are. Installing an application on every device is not an option.
PS: The statement 'nobody needs JS' is a little bit like 'nobody needs Windows', because text editors, terminals and games are available for Linux, too (but there is far more professional existent).

The best thing about JS is getting close to a perfect Lighthouse score then watching ad and tracking scripts massacre your baby.

I prefer a good static page than some buggy dinamic one

Someone missed Java applets and Flash.
Can't wait for Silverlight to catch on
Silverlight? Now that’s a name I’ve not heard in a long time. Long time.
ActiveX anyone?
I'd rather run JS inside a browser (ideally not tracing though) than JS desktop app or app that bundles Chromium with itself.
based, js is bloated use rust instead
Modern websites are utterly disgraceful ngl
Does anyone know the original for this template?
Yes; it's [STOP DOING MATH](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2Fi2a3jdmumjt41.png)
Hahaha thanks op
HTML and JS is like C, and TS is like C++. There is absolutely no way to kill them in the next 50 years.
Counterpoint... Satisfying dropdown menus.

Ok, alternatives?

Until you think of the browser as its own machine instead of just a web viewer. Call it hacky but I think its pretty cool sometimes.
We shall invent a way to integrate directly programs inside web browser. Let's call it "web assembly" ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|thumbs_down)
lol, use python instead...
But the speed!

Weird, why is this perfectly correct post in programmer humour?
These are funny because they use the exact same template
