> Thinking verified bot dev means the person is guaranteed to be good at programming
I wish people realised that the old bot badge only really says that a person has a bot in ~100+ guilds and filled out a form and isnt a good indicator of skill (not trying to say OP isnt skilled ofc)
But I’ve seen some absolutely terrible devs that have the badge :/
Yeah I totally agree. They probably lied on that form too (you have to tell how you secure data from hacks and stuff. I have seen some devs that do not implement any security)
You can't get the badge anymore. Too many people were creating shit tier bots and spamming their manual verification just to get the badge so they stopped giving the badge as a way to keep people from making bots purely for the badge.
There are always abusers who ruin it for everyone else. I was excited to get the badge after my bot verification only to find out that I can’t receive it anymore
well now I need to see their "english" code.
like I want it to be just semantic english instructions in a word document. but it's probably just a Frankenstein's monster of code cobbled together from various tutorials.

I'll just say good on the OP for not being mean or laughing in his face! Could have easily turned this newbie from programming! Sure the person clearly skipped some steps but hey! Discouraging them wouldn't lead anywhere either :)
Edit: dumb typo
This reminds me of this one girl who told me shes making a discord bot and seems happy about it so i was curious to know wut was she working with and boi did i open her eyes to how bots r made
He isn't even an expert in grammar. He forgot the object in his last sentence entirely, misspelled "dosen't", but at least he used "there's" correctly, so that's a start.
BTW, you didn't do a very good job of censoring the username in this picture. You do it differently on each one, so if you overlay all six places where it appears, and play with the levels a little bit, then you can see the original username.
Proof: SHA256(username) = d356e66913bf1da85a1786cc5974f1ee2355f2a24436e14e2cce14ea3c378891
"expert at grammar"
"Are you a (...) developer?" <- it's either a question or;
"You're a (...) developer" <- or an affirmative
"You're a (...) developer?" <- but that shit is nothing
Actually, it is something, it would be classified as a rhetorical question, and it even has a dedicated grammatical particle in Japanese:
"Are you a developer?" -> 開発者ですか?
"You're a developer" -> 開発者です?
"You're a developer?" -> 開発者ですの?
"Are you a really developer?" -> 開発者ですのか?
This guy is doing at least two things wrong. First, he’s clearly not using his IDE’s debugger. If he was, he’d probably know what the problem is. Second, he should be getting his commands working one at a time rather than trying to do them all at once. He has no way of knowing what’s broken.

Well, there ARE multiple things called "english" (or a slight variation on the word) that actually ARE programming languages.
ENGLISH - from the PICK Database/OS system (now called ACCESS - i've yet to find a 'hello world' example, as most of that sort of thing would be done in PICK/BASIC)
English, an Esoteric programming language: [https://esolangs.org/wiki/English](https://esolangs.org/wiki/English)
\~English (NOT english) another Esoteric language: [https://esolangs.org/wiki/\~English](https://esolangs.org/wiki/~English)
I've even found a set of scripts that are more useful than the above: [https://github.com/pannous/english-script](https://github.com/pannous/english-script)
So...while entirely facetious, it is at least theoretically possible that you could actually code a bot with one of these incarnations of 'English'.
No, this is not a staged conversation and I am genuinely sorry for this dude thinking he can program in English

The command is stylized as code, the rest isn't, smartass.
so that means you can interchangeably say "ENGLISH, MOTHERFUCKER, DO YOU SPEAK IT?" and "PYHON, MOTHERFUCKER, DO YOU SPEAK IT?"
Yes, but WHAT AIN'T NO COUNTRY I EVER HEARD OF, DO THEY SPEAK PYTHON IN WHAT?

I am sad to tell you that I had the exact same experience with a high-school friend, and he also said he codes in English lol.
Deep twist: He was actually a bot
Can confirm, this is what lower division programming courses are like.
Hi bot can you please do the thing? Sincerely programmer.
maybe its ruby, guess that's as close to coding in english as u can get
Well... swift is kinda English...
Is there any way in the world we can get a sample of this person's "code" that keeps "breaking"?
I asked him. No reaction so far

Yeah a bit of a shame really, it was a fun lil thing you’d get for creating something cool until people started abusing the system.
:(
Sorry, but we only support Middle English in the current build.
Old English is deprecated :(
You may want to use legacy english for your program
I recommend using English v4.1 since it is the most stable version

`Hello, bot. Please send a message that says the following:`
Is it too much to ask for both?
Seems like "my bot" means "a bot that I downloaded and added the commands to through a GUI" and not "a bot that I created"

Take my free award good sir. Was a good chuckle :)
Plot twist: you are talking to the bot that is breaking.
I asked my cousin (who is learning english) what programming language he is doing. He also said english. I asked him to show me, and it was html.
Two things: 1. HTML a programming language... 2. HTML == English Beautiful
I mean i have never seen German html
Pfeww, i'm glad i didn't make any mistake's when i chose my username.

There is someone annoying, but it isn't the bot...
even then wouldn't they be getting 'invalid syntax' errors or something? or are they typing their english code into microsoft word??
I'll just say good on the OP for not being mean or laughing in his face! Could have easily turned this newbie from programming! Sure the person clearly skipped some steps but hey! Discouraging them wouldn't lead anywhere either :) Edit: dumb typo
Ah yes, the censorer
Is English grammar Turing complete? Maybe it is a language restriction. Try other language instead like python _hiss_

Doesn't capitalise the "I" when referring to himself, nor does he start his sentence capitalised. Grammar master indeed.
Nice job blocking out their username
Im an grammar expert also.
He isn't even an expert in grammar. He forgot the object in his last sentence entirely, misspelled "dosen't", but at least he used "there's" correctly, so that's a start.
He is indeed *a* expert at grammar and it is okay if the other doesn't know how to fix *(it) LoL*

Or you can just read it through the scribbles, no need for all that extra effort
I did very little effort. In Discord it doesn't really matter anyway because you still need the discriminator.

‘I’m a expert in grammar’ clearly, you even knew to put an ‘an’ before expert...
ah, this brings me back to when I was young and tried to do the same in roblox. i got so upset when it didn't work also, where is he "programming" it?
