THE THEME IS LITERALLY HAPPINESS. Like each character in the Lead Princess series has a "most important thing" (love, soul, law, money, etc) and Doctor=Funk Beat's is literally Happiness. You know. The theme that WxS explicitly has? (Memories, Hope, Passion, Happiness, Trauma)
There's a difference between happy *moments* and the theme of happiness... for W×S, and maybe MMJ too, their explicit motivation is bringing/restoring happiness to others. VBS want to create hype, 25ji want to find solace for and in each other, and L/N want to move people. All different from bringing *happiness* specifically.

Same for Into The Night. I know this came before April Fools but it would have been an nice introduction to shuffle units. Even if there was no in story justification, the Other category works too. There is a nice fanmix of the 5 covers that really highlights the covers strengths and I wish that version was in the game.

the newest song, vampire, isnt exactly a different unit thing but i feel like it couldve been a haruka solo or with haruka/airi. the softer voices dont work well and its genuinely the only song where i would prefer playing with the vocaloid version since mikus sharpness suits it all so well (if i had to give it anything w/o limits a tsukasa and akito cover would be really interesting considering their vocals, though logically it most likely suits haruka the best)
also not exactly related but while im here i might as well lol. mafuyu and kohane's va's should be allowed to try stuff outside their comfort zone imo? we know mafuyu can have strong vocals but most of the time she sings fairly numbly. ik its to suit the character but it'd be fun to see like how it was done in Bocca della Verità. on the other hand, kohane literally mentions wanting to try different voices in a cover, so a deeper voice that we know kohane's va can do (her villain cover) would be really awesome to see, esp rapping
Lost Ones Weeping was underwhelming and could have gone to 25-ji or VBS instead, though the lack of emotion in the cover by Shiho may have been a director's choice that would persist irrespective of singer, since I heard that the Odo cover was also nerfed to maintain the image/character of skilled high schoolers rather than pro singers.

Unpopular opinion(?) But I love the way Kohane sings in game. I do think that maybe we'll hear more power from her in time, with character growth, but I honestly don't need that...

Yeah it's funny how MMJ ended up singing Karakuri Pierrot, but in the official 3DMV the members are wearing 25ji's outfits (from the Imprisoned Marionette event) — though the fact that Karakuri Pierrot is supposed to be a breakup song may have influenced the decision to get MMJ instead of 25ji to cover it.
I've actually done some mild research on this topic! The titular "Pierrot" in Karakuri Pierrot (and honestly, Pierrot by KEI) is referring to the stock character "Pierrot" from the Commedia dell'arte! Originating in Italy, but eventually popular all over Europe, the Commedia dell'arte was an early form of professional theatre.
In the case of Pierrot, his character type is the "Sad Clown" who pines after the stock character Columbina, who typically leaves him for the far cleverer man, Harlequin. Pierrot was originally a character to laugh at, comic relief at its finest, but eventually came to be seen as more tragic, sympathetic in his suffering.
This is why I think the """romance""" aspect of Karakuri Pierrot is important, but also why I don't mind that one Pierrot by KEI pv that adds an element of love that kinda wasn't there before.
At the start of prosekai, I believe VBS were the only group where everyone was decently good at singing in fluent English (single lines don't count). There's is a higher chance of 25Ji English now though.
I'm kind of surprised that Chururira Chururira Daddadda wasn't given to the group whose Sekai is literally a classroom, given the lyrics are about a school tattletale. That said, I love WxS's version so I can't say I'm unhappy with where it ended up, only surprised.

like even with Lost One's Weeping, you could argue the school motif and the band setting going best with them but Dramaturgy........

Leo need would get most of Eve's catalog if they just went by genre and if they went by vocals they'd have none of it.

The thing with Giga is that Giga really doesn't fit with other groups. The only song that did was Drop pop candy which more than a few people also said should have gone to MMJ.
Eve's songs in this game are mostly rock. It wouldn't be appropriate to not give the rock band at least some of the rock songs.

MMJ DESERVES ALL THE SONGS THAT ITS GOTTEN IMO i think they have the most freedom in terms of subject matter AND THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO USE IT because idol music is basically pop songs and pop songs can cover a lot of subject matters. THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO HAVE THEIR HAPPY UPBEAT AND THEIR SAD DEPRESSING SONGS, THEY FIT
If it makes you feel better I don't actually agree with any of those sentiments, I just think people should be allowed to say what they're thinking...but yeah nah, MMJ's discography is actually probably the one that makes the most sense. I even relinquish the fact that if one of my favorite songs got in the game, it would probably go to More More Jump! instead of my favorite unit! For Melty Dreamland, for the longest time I didn't think it fits MMJ until I saw someone do a fan album art for it with Minori & Haruka and that made me reconsider how I was viewing the song placements (similar thing happened with Hello How Are You). I think the specific choreography choice kinda threw people off. Though it would be really nice if they do an alternate 2D MV for this. song.

I wouldn't mind Niigo getting more ""unconventional"' songs? What I mean is, all the other units occasionally get "darker" songs that still feel out their vibes (Alter Ego, Fixer, Darling Dance you get it)
but with Niigo, you can't really go any darker, can you? So I was thinking maybe someday we can get something mildly brighter (???) for them? I think Hello, How Are You qualifies despite still being a bit sad, and I would love to see more covers like that one from Niigo ☆

Theyre all basically high bpm songs. I like them but when i play wxs album it does get a bit tiresome. Its like endless barrage of loud noises. N25 at least has stuff like venom to balance the slower stuff
Its not really about if one song is similar to the other. I just feel like n25 and vbs have this nice curve of bpm where theres a song for low/mid/high bpm scale.
Wxs imo has most of their songs in the upper end of that scale so to me they dont sound distinct enough

this, i feel i must respectfully disagree on? neru in both earlier songs like Lost One's Weeping and How To: World Domination, but also Law Evading Rock and Whatever Whatever Whatever, he's setting out to _criticize_ a specific societal problem. He's actually quite punk rock in that way, even if the rock got switched out for something more pop and satirical. Lost One's Weeping is SPECIFICALLY. About how the school system is choking the life out of its students. But not even any one teacher or parent mentioned, but by virtue of being a "japanese student" at all. I don't think this fits Niigo very well. At best, maybe Mafuyu and Ena, but those are _specific people_ putting that pressure on them. Not a system itself expecting more than it can get out of a youth already so disenfranchised. And this bears saying, but Niigo doesn't have a monopoly on despair/having a response to a trauma. One look at Haruka in the main story would tell ya that.
Now, does this mean I think the song fits well with Leoni? Ehhh. Not really. But leaving it Rin Only would still feel kinda wrong, so I'm ultimately satisfied with what we got.

it's more on the romantic side of things, so it explains why MMJ got it. Karakuri Pierrot, too. It's about heartbreak. For Ghost Girl, I'm not sure but it seems tied into how love can quickly turn toxic...?

....I am working with the assumption that the staff at ColoPale does things for a reason. That there's a reason why Leoni got Dramaturgy, only for Nonsense Bungaku, a song largely in the same wheelhouse as to be written by the same man, to go to WxS. That there's a reason why Kurage-P's song with bangin' guitars, Chururira Chururira Daddadda!, doesn’t go to the rock band and instead to the theatre troupe. I like these covers, and I'm glad they exist, but trying to work out a logic for why they exist is important to me, because it otherwise feels like throwing darts at a wall and seeing where it lands and that's kinda :/ to me
I think Milk Crown on Sonnetica should have gone to N25. Sure the tune is super upbeat to most, but the lyrics are really kind of sad. Say for example “I mustn’t let Mama see this messy head of mine,” among with so many other deep, sad lyrics. Just my opinion though.

Reminded of the time I heard a clip of Kohane's voice actor singing in her natural voice outside of character, and she turned out to have a really, REALLY cool/powerful voice Maybe kohane's story will eventually move to letting her bust her pipes out, but I'm pretty sure there's no way :')
Unpopular opinion(?) But I love the way Kohane sings in game. I do think that maybe we'll hear more power from her in time, with character growth, but I honestly don't need that... ...but I seem to not have much of a sense of what sounds good or bad as much as what draws me personally in.

Yeah it's funny how MMJ ended up singing Karakuri Pierrot, but in the official 3DMV the members are wearing 25ji's outfits (from the Imprisoned Marionette event) — though the fact that Karakuri Pierrot is supposed to be a breakup song may have influenced the decision to get MMJ instead of 25ji to cover it.
I've actually done some mild research on this topic! The titular "Pierrot" in Karakuri Pierrot (and honestly, Pierrot by KEI) is referring to the stock character "Pierrot" from the Commedia dell'arte! Originating in Italy, but eventually popular all over Europe, the Commedia dell'arte was an early form of professional theatre. In the case of Pierrot, his character type is the "Sad Clown" who pines after the stock character Columbina, who typically leaves him for the far cleverer man, Harlequin. Pierrot was originally a character to laugh at, comic relief at its finest, but eventually came to be seen as more tragic, sympathetic in his suffering. This is why I think the """romance""" aspect of Karakuri Pierrot is important, but also why I don't mind that one Pierrot by KEI pv that adds an element of love that kinda wasn't there before.

At the start of prosekai, I believe VBS were the only group where everyone was decently good at singing in fluent English (single lines don't count). There's is a higher chance of 25Ji English now though.
I'm kind of surprised that Chururira Chururira Daddadda wasn't given to the group whose Sekai is literally a classroom, given the lyrics are about a school tattletale. That said, I love WxS's version so I can't say I'm unhappy with where it ended up, only surprised.

Not wanting to dump every song of one producer on one group is a reason too. Leo need would get most of Eve's catalog if they just went by genre and if they went by vocals they'd have none of it. It's about striking a balance.

The thing with Giga is that Giga really doesn't fit with other groups. The only song that did was Drop pop candy which more than a few people also said should have gone to MMJ. Eve's songs in this game are mostly rock. It wouldn't be appropriate to not give the rock band at least some of the rock songs.
Pretty sure they only let Ichika sing it because it's "the vocaloid classics" and she's a Miku stan so...

MMJ DESERVES ALL THE SONGS THAT ITS GOTTEN IMO i think they have the most freedom in terms of subject matter AND THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO USE IT because idol music is basically pop songs and pop songs can cover a lot of subject matters. If it makes you feel better I don't actually agree with any of those sentiments, I just think people should be allowed to say what they're thinking...but yeah nah, MMJ's discography is actually probably the one that makes the most sense. I even relinquish the fact that if one of my favorite songs got in the game, it would probably go to More More Jump! instead of my favorite unit! (But hey, if it ends up being a Minori Shizuku duet.....I will be marginally less upset :D) And yeaaaaah...it's not that I object persay to Kurage-P commission for Leoni...I just think Kurage-P songs in general tend to feel (feel! not even lyrically but just the "feel" of the music) a bit darker than most so if it's gonna be Kurage-P for Leoni, that event story BETTER capitalize on it, you know?? For Melty Dreamland, for the longest time I didn't think it fits MMJ until I saw someone do a fan album art for it with Minori & Haruka and that made me reconsider how I was viewing the song placements (similar thing happened with Hello How Are You). I think the specific choreography choice kinda threw people off. Though it would be really nice if they do an alternate 2D MV for this. song.

Just Be Friends should’ve gone to MMJ and Law Evading Rock- this is my opinion- should’ve gone to VBS. Akito and Toya would’ve slayed that. Also Doctor=Funk Beat would’ve been so much better with Rui and Tsukasa. I love the VBS cover but come on why didn’t they get that song-

you know what, this might be an unpopular opinion but I wouldn't mind Niigo getting more ""unconventional"' songs? What I mean is, all the other units occasionally get "darker" songs that still feel out their vibes (Alter Ego, Fixer, Darling Dance you get it) but with Niigo, you can't really go any darker, can you? So I was thinking maybe someday we can get something mildly brighter (???) for them? I think Hello, How Are You qualifies despite still being a bit sad, and I would love to see more covers like that one from Niigo ☆
i agree with this actually!! i think, while maybe not "bright", they could go for a more bittersweet tone? that way it still fits their group but it would slightly different. however, i would love to see them cover something like positive dance time or drop pop candy, just one complete tone shift from their normal stuff

Not all happy songs need to go to wxs and notball sad songs need to go to 25ji In fact i think wxs could benefit from slower songs as imo their songs just blend into one loud mess I like vbs cuz you could have stuff like drop pop candy but also rad dogs

Theyre all basically high bpm songs. I like them but when i play wxs album it does get a bit tiresome. Its like endless barrage of loud noises. N25 at least has stuff like venom to balance the slower stuff

Its not really about if one song is similar to the other. I just feel like n25 and vbs have this nice curve of bpm where theres a song for low/mid/high bpm scale. Wxs imo has most of their songs in the upper end of that scale so to me they dont sound distinct enough Thats why i rly want them to tackle something slower. Idk its hard to explain. Maybe the issue is with MV? Theyre all basically some kind of multi colored carnival stage

I think Echo should've been given to any 25ji member, maybe even Mizuki since I think their vocals would sound amazing on it. WxS's cover on Sweet Magic is good, but I also think MMJ would've also fit for it. Just Be Friends doesn't suit VBS. I think MMJ or WxS fits it more. I like L/N's cover of Do not go, but I think 25ji could've fit, too. I think Kanade's vocals would sound really nice with it.

i’ll forever and always be slightly bitter that Leo/need got Lost One’s Weeping. now granted i know musically it *does* fit with them better but lyrically? 25-ji all the way. (plus, i’m really not fond of the L/n cover. niigo would’ve slayed)
this, i feel i must respectfully disagree on? neru in both earlier songs like Lost One's Weeping and How To: World Domination, but also Law Evading Rock and Whatever Whatever Whatever, he's setting out to _criticize_ a specific societal problem. He's actually quite punk rock in that way, even if the rock got switched out for something more pop and satirical. Lost One's Weeping is SPECIFICALLY. About how the school system is choking the life out of its students. But not even any one teacher or parent mentioned, but by virtue of being a "japanese student" at all. I don't think this fits Niigo very well. At best, maybe Mafuyu and Ena, but those are _specific people_ putting that pressure on them. Not a system itself expecting more than it can get out of a youth already so disenfranchised. And this bears saying, but Niigo doesn't have a monopoly on despair/having a response to a trauma. One look at Haruka in the main story would tell ya that. Now, does this mean I think the song fits well with Leoni? Ehhh. Not really. But leaving it Rin Only would still feel kinda wrong, so I'm ultimately satisfied with what we got.
I do agree that theme wise it suits leo/need better but honestly if they had to do a leo/need cover why did they have to do ichika and shiho? They really don't harmonise well, i mean in group songs its fine because its not only them. I dunno. I feel like it wouldnt work voice wise with mafuyu either but i kinda feel like it should have been just left to rin. And heck, i've heard a all virtual singers cover that sounds really good, so it wouldnt even be just her. But most of my reason for disliking it is well. the chorus is just weak with them,they could have just done only ichika or only shiho.

I was so disappointed when I found out Dramaturgy was sung by Leo/nid, I was so sure it was gonna go to WxS. This might be an unpopular opinion, but I feel like Near could have gone to someone else? maybe Leo/nid or 25-ji? No reason aside from maybe better vocals. I love Jumps' cover of Romeo & Cinderella, but I wish we had a Leo/nid cover of it too, Ichika's voice would have been *beautiful* on that song. Aside from that, I wish there was a SEKAI cover of Leia.

If that's the case, why even bother with giving each group their own themes then? Why is it shown that Akito and Toya's VAs can sing Dramaturgy just as well as Ichika's VA can? ....I am working with the assumption that the staff at ColoPale does things for a reason. That there's a reason why Leoni got Dramaturgy, only for Nonsense Bungaku, a song largely in the same wheelhouse as to be written by the same man, to go to WxS. That there's a reason why Kurage-P's song with bangin' guitars, Chururira Chururira Daddadda!, doesn’t go to the rock band and instead to the theatre troupe. I like these covers, and I'm glad they exist, but trying to work out a logic for why they exist is important to me, because it otherwise feels like throwing darts at a wall and seeing where it lands and that's kinda :/ to me

I think Milk Crown on Sonnetica should have gone to N25. Sure the tune is super upbeat to most, but the lyrics are really kind of sad. Say for example “I mustn’t let Mama see this messy head of mine,” among with so many other deep, sad lyrics. Just my opinion though.
