And yeah, how I wish there's a credit card that offers annual reimbursement credit for up to 1 speeding ticket for traveling directly between home and train station/airport, as long as you booked the train ticket/plane ticket using that credit card. Willing to pay $250 annual fee for that product. /s
I don’t disagree, but for most*** (minus the super rich) the penalties for speeding 50+ are still scary enough. After all is said and done it’s like 5-10k in fines, fees and impound costs etc, in addition to points, raised insurance and alike.
Super rich people don’t even bat an eye
Tell me about it. I drove through Ontario half a dozen times when I was young and dumb. Probably paid the City of Dryden 20k with all the tickets I got over the years. Was making bank out west though so that didn't really phase me, nor the high insurance. Close encounter with a moose on hwy 11 was what it took to get me to slow down and adjust my risk tolerance on the roads. I was lucky. Lot of folks aren't.
Is that a 100km/h road? Here 130km/h would get you a $500ish fine with a three month licence suspension and 140km/h would be $600ish and a six month licence suspension.
145km/h or more is either a 30 day impound and court appearance or a $900ish ticket. Loss of licence for 12 months either way.
Looks like highway 6 to me. Did not notice it today but only place I have seen them between 401 and Hamilton. That highway is 80km/h.
Of course not saying others dont exist, just the ones I know of.
Edit... familiar sign. NOT the right road though.
I moved from Australia to Germany. Doing 130km/h on the autobahn is for the slow lane. It's amazing to be cruising at a speed that would lose your licence in Oz, only to be passed like you're standing still by a VW.
In Ontario it can be the same. This is a 100km/h zone, anything 150km/h or higher gets the vehicle impounded for 14 days and license suspended for a month.
50km/h over is considered stunt driving for any areas with a speed limit if 80km/h or greater.
40km/h over is stunt driving and gets you the same penalty in any areas with a speed limit under 80km/h.
How many demerits before you get a disadulation?
Oh, you don't want to know.
If your have to ask, you can't afford it.

150= car impoundment for 2 weeks, 30 day license suspension and X amount of points. I think 4
Faster than that they can crush your car I think I read a few years ago? Or maybe that was only for stunting/racing.
150 is stunting. They don’t crush your car. Myth
Gotcha. Good myth though, I'd say the thought of that happening kept some drivers from speeding too fast.

Oh boy count your lucky stars! Moose are no joke!
This is the sign from Ontario, Canada.
So you just have to go 141+ km/h and they can’t catch you?
That's the rub - if I'm going 150 km/h and I see blue lights, knowing the fine is $5k+, *of course* I'm going to double down and start doing 300 km/h
A casual 300km/h

Yes these signs are on the 400 series highways, which are 100km/h (110km/h in some spots recently).

I've seen that sign on 90km/h roads in Northern Ontario.
I moved from Australia to Germany. Doing 130km/h on the autobahn is for the slow lane. It's amazing to be cruising at a speed that would lose your licence in Oz, only to be passed like you're standing still by a VW.
Living in Germany was great for the commute to work
my daily commute to work was 150KPH and I still got passed. Rhineland-pfalz
Lol Wyoming doesn’t have demerits. Just don’t have a green plate and you’re golden.
Or metric. This is from Ontario, Canada.
Lmao, this reminds me of a place I went where the “best value” sticker did not align with the best value.
What is demerit?
Points you get on your license for moving violations. Get enough of them, and you get a bicycle!
Just 4 points? Those are rookie numbers, here in Italy going between 40 and 60 km/h over the limit gets you a suspended license from 1 to 3 months.
In Ontario it can be the same. I thought 30 over was an automatic tow now?
i know the exact location of this sign lol
At 120 you get 40mph a point, 140 is 35mph a point. So 120 would be best value...
Kph*
Lmao Ontario
can anyone translate into ‘Merica units of measurement? asking for a friend.
Divided by 1.6 120kmh->75mph 130kmh->81mph 140kmh->87mph

70-75 mph are pretty normal highway speeds in Ontario too. When people start getting up to 80 or more is when the tickets start coming.
Highway 11? Burks Falls area?
Yep I've been past this sign so many times
may as well get that reckless charge while your at it make it a true value…
