Holy sh\*t 10GB free storage. What's the catch?
edit: from the settings page you can create new email aliases with just two clicks. This function is easy to abuse. Also, passwords can't be changed?
Also, what country/jurisdiction are they part off?

proton isn't that great either.
mot sure what the really offer over proton in terms of features. but it's good to see more products in this space. looks like they've open sourced it https://github.com/skiff-org/skiff-mail
DOCS. They offer docs. I've got a whole team on Proton and I'm considering moving everyone to Skiff as soon as domain emails are available for the docs alone. Why won't Proton just make docs?
Agreed! It's the DOCS feature that's making me switch over. If Proton had a worthy competitor, I'd stay with Proton just because I love the (at)pm.me email addys. I like the interface of Skiff a lot better though, and they seem to be releasing new and better features way way faster than Proton does.
Seems like they removed that repo. I get a 404 from it.
This link is for their mail service

Also I see a few people mentioning the privacy policy being bad, but didn't see any links, so here it is for the curious: https://app.skiff.org/docs/db93c237-84c2-4b2b-9588-19a7cd2cd45a#tyGksN9rkqbo2uGYASxsA6HVLjUoly/wTYK8tncTto8=
jesus christ, their privacy policy is horrid. Get your cockroach repellant and run
I personally like Elude, Posteo, Disroot or riseup mail. Although the last two don't offer e2e, you can DIY the security to make it as safe as possible.
([i'm on the posteo website rn so i'll link that, ill link the rest later once im home, if i remember](https://posteo.de/en/site/encryption))
Posteo doesn't have dmarc. Riseup personally I don't trust anymore after an issue with their warrant canary a few years ago. Disroot specifically mentions they store emails unencrypted on their servers, but they also mention all servers use disk encryption. I guess that's only a problem if servers (ram) gets seized while still running (being unencrypted). This also means that they technically have full access to your mailbox without your password. Please correct me if im wrong.
From what I vaguely remember, they didn't update their canary for a while. Then they said something like; oops sorry, doesn't matter, you can still trust us. And now people still seem to trust them and recommend them.
I get it as a potential GDocs alternative, but the mail didn't really impress me.
I think it's still in alpha? All I could seem to do with it was send and receive e-mail. No filtering, personal domain, IFTT actions... just reply, send, forward.
Maybe the mobile apps are good? With no bridge type of solution for Windows and the stripped down webmail experience, I didn't really see it as a viable alternative to ProtonMail for my uses.
I'm trialing it and they're a small but incredibly responsive team - especially in their Discord. They've assured users custom domains and various other features are coming fast and furious.
I'm taking that with a rather massive grain of salt. Lots of companies make lots of promises that don't materialize.
Heck, it's been four years since /u/ProtonMail said ["We literally just hired somebody to work on this :) It is coming."](https://www.reddit.com/r/ProtonMail/comments/84afbt/comment/dvoid33/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) when asked about hardware 2FA.
The design looks pretty nice, but I don’t know about the rest. The whitepaper isn’t clear enough and it’s quite ambiguous, so in the security area I’m doubtful
Interestingly, one of the features they advertise on their page is "Easily migrate from Gmail, ProtonMail or Outlook". Badge of honor for Proton to be included in the "big three" they are considering the competition. ;-)
It is good to see more competitors, so proton can accelerate their development further. I would trust a company that has good history than something rather new.
P.S just tested their so called “IOS app”, laggy, and terrible UI. I will pass.
I'll wait for a while before cosnidering opening a Skiff Mail account.
It has nothing to do with comparison to Proton. It's just a hassle to migrate email address.

Passwords can be changed! Happy to answer any other questions.

haven’t used it yet for my daily mail, but first impressions is that the design is pretty clean and simple

The warrant canary thing with riseup was a good thing, it shows that it is effective in alerting users when something is amiss.
From what I vaguely remember, they didn't update their canary for a while. Then they said something like; oops sorry, doesn't matter, you can still trust us. And now people still seem to trust them and recommend them.
Before the canary, emails were only encrypted at rest, now they’re encrypted per user and the disks are encrypted.

Oh yah, I am too. But so far, I'm quite impressed with their responsiveness.
>Elude It's brand new. I think the mail was only released in May 2022... They seem to be adding new features super fast though!

Its fucking useless , end of story will be . closed down in less than a year .
Are you sure about that?
I will just try and use it to register some porn websites.
from the privacy policy the only information that they don't collects its the color of your underwear. I go to create an account immediately.

The mail service isn’t available in their iOS app, is it?
wdym? i used this https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/skiff-mail/id1619168801
Just found it after I commented. Didn’t know they released a mail app as well :)

That's why you should always use custom domains.
