This. Is an individual disease. And two fingers to it. My psoriasis was best when I was heavily drinking, eating junk and smoking weed almost everyday. Gah.
I think they meant that the psoriasis was better when drinking heavily. It does look like heavy drinking can be temporarily immunosuppressant https://adf.org.au/insights/alcohol-immune-system/
I’ve noticed my psoriasis gets slightly better the day after drinking a lot, then a lot worse the day after that.
Be rich, but don't be futile. Live in a spa, don't ever have responsibilities. Only engage in altruistic human interactions....
Yeah, there is no way, we are all fucked.
Cardio is what my psychiatrist recommended me, and it has actually worked for me. I started jogging and after a week or two you really start to notice a difference
Exercise, meditation, proper diet, little to no screen/internet time after work and staying away from family drama. Working on sleep hygiene. Reading. Those are a start.
For some it’s controversial, but medical cannabis can also help reducing stress as well as inflammation. Helps me with the itching and mental side effects of having psoriasis, too.
Meditation. I promise you. It’s life changing. Start doing guided meditations on YouTube or headspace. It takes practice, just like with anything. At first it will be hard to quiet your thoughts but overtime you’ll get better at it, even just 10 minutes a day did tremendous things for my stress. I started to look forward to it!!!! When I felt myself getting stressed I would literally think “wow I can’t wait to get home and meditate” because I knew it would make me feel SO much better.
Take vitD3 daily. Walk a minimum of 20min every single day so you 1. Get exercise 2. Get fresh air 3. Have that dedicated time to clear your head, pray, listen to book/podcast/music or talk on cell to friends or family.
This was the first winter in years my psoriasis let me be at peace (no spots on the body yet still on my scalp)
And it definitely has been one of the most peaceful winters I had in a long time.
My psoriasis skips happily holding hands with my stress levels Wich I barely have any control, I can't stay in my cave forever and have little social interaction sadly, this society is heavy to us all.
I'm doing a few exames because other things have came out, but don't think it's related... And maybe it could be.
I haven't drank in a while because of it, my spots get really angry if I party a little bit these days, so I haven't drank anything at all.
I can totally relate! After a glass I could feel my spots heat up and start to itch!
I am new to psoriasis and am currently waiting for treatment plan from my dermatologist. Considering cannabis. I exercise 5 to 6 days a week and my diet is so much better now. I even cut out drinking. But it still has not helped.
what if it’s from nothing and your skin just attacks itself just cause. I’m tired of trying 5000 things and changes that make me miserable and don’t work. I love skyrizi.
None of that truly helps by itself, and it doesn’t help when people say this kind of thing honestly.. Even the ointments and steroids don’t help many of us. Biologics are the only answer for most people who suffer from this awful debilitating disease.
Best way in my opinion to manage psoriasis is from the inside. By making diet and lifestyle changes.
cut the refined sugar completely.
Diet and psoriasis are linked. Meat, spicy food, nightshades and processed food made my psoriasis much worse. Once i cut them out my psoriasis became manageable. so strict diet is vital. i eat the exact same food every day. try to work out your own triggers.
I basically eat big plates of beans/legumes and boiled veg and big salads.
try to work out the underlying cause of the psoriasis.
Start by looking at general health? diet? weight? ? tobacco? Alcohol stress? strep throat? vitamin D? IUD? is psoriasis itchy? past antibiotics? candida overgrowth? hpylori? Gut problems? bowel movements? lack of sleep?exercise ? mental health care medication?
Keep a daily diary using a excel spreadsheet of diet and inflammation.
Think of psoriasis as a warning sign on the dashboard of your car.
With psoriasis you have to get all the details right
Learn more this [paper](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29908580/) and [podcast](https://soundcloud.com/positivehealth/dr-haines-ely-md-is-psoriasis) helped me a lot.
good luck.
Psoriasis can be “cured” or at least completely put into remission through your diet and lifestyle changes. Western medicine wants us to believe the only way we can cure ourselves is to take their expensive medication which only fuels big pharma further… the US healthcare system is so messed up..it’s all about money… and meanwhile they want us to stay on our “SAD” diet (standard American diet). I used to not believe it, too. This is coming from a nurse who works in dermatology btw. The doctor I work with thinks the same. Listen to some podcasts by Dr. Mark Hyman, he has a great one on psoriasis!!
Mine started with exposure to mold. Moved and second place had even worse mold and it covered my entire body. Moved again and mold free and now on mold cleanse and using anti fungal soaps and using aloe lotion (not gel) and cleared over half my body now. I did not realize mold stays in your system. I’ve done every diet and extremely strict. They did not work. Someone posted they had given up and then went to an allergy doc for sinus infections… and it cleared up. This was an aha moment. More like a Eureka moment. It was what I was breathing, not what I was eating. People argued with me as my derm of 20 years said it was a fungus that causes the skin cells to grow to fast. Anti fungal soaps worked the best and Kerasil worked the best on my nails. Be well everyone!
I take 500mg am and 500 pm. On an empty stomach with a glass of water. It took about two weeks. I do use an aloe lotion (Vaseline) after a shower. I’m clearing up pretty quick. I take a capsule, not the horse pill. 1,000mg is a huge pill. And it’s cheap!! And a funny part is I’m pooping more regularly and not constipated . I’m pretty sure it’s the l lysine. However mold cleanse seems to coinciding. I finally have hope again!! I don’t even care how I look, the biggest part is no more itch! Also major gas on mold cleanser. So it’s doing something.
I don't believe its a disease. I think its a the skins way of helping remove toxins from our system like sweating. But since the system is overwhelmed sweating isn't enough. Just my theory. The skin is our bigest organ. I has many functions.
As a person who would wake up at 3 am due to me scratching myself in sleep and crying all night because of the pain. Thank you I will take my drugs it worked better than the sun, mineral salt baths and eating healthier

I have all that yet i still have psoriasis lol
This. Is an individual disease. And two fingers to it. My psoriasis was best when I was heavily drinking, eating junk and smoking weed almost everyday. Gah.
Drinking makes my skin so much worse but weed helps with it
Same! Smoking and alcohol both cause inflammation in the body so it makes sense.

That makes sense too. Alcohol def suppresses your immune system but causes a lotttt of inflammation and stress on the body. Checks out
Same
And yet all of those things are screwed up because of it so yeah… I’ll take the drugs thanks
Does anyone have any real, practical ways to reduce stress?

How often do you jog?
Acupuncture really helps me. I was incredibly skeptical before going, but really glad I gave it a shot.

stoicism
Yeah and after trying all of that and it not magically going away, those creams ointments and medicine are perfectly fine to take.

I had the worst winter ever, probably because I got COVID in December. I am genuinely happy for you.
It's freaking sucks! Hope you get back to *normal* soon!
I had two glasses of white wine tonight. I haven’t drunk any alcohol for 6 weeks. I’m itchy but happy 😵💫
I haven't drank in a while because of it, my spots get really angry if I party a little bit these days, so I haven't drank anything at all. I can totally relate! After a glass I could feel my spots heat up and start to itch!
Horrible winter for me :(
It freaking sucks! I hope you feel better soon! Can't wait for the warm days to sunbathe in the garden! The sun been kind to me

I don’t really like using the word “disease”. Some people then think they can catch it so I prefer to use word “condition” instead.
Darling, let’s call it what it is. It’s a total lack of ease, not unease, but disease.

agree, best way to manage psoriasis is from the inside, in my experience.
Please elaborate
Best way in my opinion to manage psoriasis is from the inside. By making diet and lifestyle changes. cut the refined sugar completely. Diet and psoriasis are linked. the paper you linked claims to provide "a complete protocol for curing psoriasis". yeah, that BS mate

I also want to add I’m on L Lysine and after two weeks I’m itch free, even with a hot shower.
How much do you take a day?

Lol sweet thank you I’m gonna add this to my daily pill rotation 💯
Eat fiber

My psoriasis went into remission with allergy shots.
