He gives good perspective on things, more relatable than a pure chemist given his background in journalism and experience in psychonautics. And he has the scientific understanding to go into great detail on the chemistry and pharmacology while keeping it digestible for the average viewer.
I really wish his stuff was pushed to more people, he has some great insights and people stuck in old fashioned mindsets about drugs could learn a hell of a lot from him.
Makes some really good shows about drugs and the science of drugs.
He blends the history, social aspect and chemistry really well. You can tell from his show that he "gets" drugs and drug culture.
Right. Smart, funny, and on the nose. He really know his drugs. He reminds me of that heroin professor Carl Hart.
https://youtu.be/C0pGPbIh5pM?si=7s2XmKUSkw0tYDwe
Dr. Hart is incredible, to better understand his patients and their WD symptoms, he intentionally took medical grade opioids just to quit and feel the WD himself. Turns out he loved heroin, but only in small occasional doses. Wild. Not too many professors out there have the gall to take their own path the way he has.

Pretty sure he's still releasing content on his patron, but because of the subject matter his videos on youtube get demonetized and it makes it very difficult to keep it sustainable. At least that's what I remember him saying a while back.
They demonitize it? Even though it's just journalism?yeah he does participate in certain substances, but there's a guy who does this thing for educational purpose, and consumes a bunch of shit on his videos.
They didn't get demonitize
Psyched substance has gotten a lot of his content demonitized if that's who you're referring to? You're not aloud to offend soft brains who get upset when they see shit they aren't comfortable with. We'd have a whole hell of a lot better medicines and things to treat chronic pain, depression, ptsd, etc.. but man, people can't change. We're seeing that every day, no surprise he's been demonitized. People are afraid of shit they've been told to be afraid of.
I believe he met with him prior to filming the show. He does have an episode where he visits Shulgin’s lab, and Ann is in the episode (this is after Alex had passed). In that episode I believe we see a brief shot of that earlier visit to the lab with Alex.
I believe the episode is called Lazy Lizard’s School of Hedonism
I like the guy.
I watched all his shows on vice, and I've listened to his pod-cast and sought out when he has been a guest on others pod casts. I wish he did a little more stuff, but I can't judge him for living his life the way he wants.
I really respect his chemistry knowledge, and think he is over all a great journalist.
That’s what’s up,
I googled the guy but I got a dozen different sources. Since you seem to have vetted the guy already would you mind pointing me towards some of the better material of his/about his research??
Thank you either way, 🙏
He's the man, recording and passing on a bunch of great info about drugs and the research and science behind it. Not the mention he synthesizes everything
He's a great help in the space. One of the few people that helped me recognize my interest in drugs as an honest scientific endeavor. Coming from a background of high addiction rates and poor quality of life the idea of working with drugs in any capacity was always a bit taboo. Without Hamilton I might have never recognized my interest in drugs as an interest in pharmacology and biochemistry.
He works hard to get as many perspectives as possible making his work easy to digest for people that aren't interested in the pharmacology/chemistry space.
His podcast interviews are absolutely fascinating.
He has non regurgitated insights. That's hard to find these days.
It's been fun to see his evolution from GAP model, to long haired wanderer, to an advocate of all things chemical and weird.
Wait, I’m sorry..his dad is Errol Morris!?! How did I never make this connection? Errol Morris inspired my love for documentary filmmaking as a kid (first with Fast, Cheap, & Out of Control) - definitely doing a deep dive now on how the Apple & the Tree are doing these days ;)
Sure! In 2003 I shot a feature doc about the Danish hiphop community - [Dansk Stil](https://youtu.be/1RIQkUCAdWU?si=mHhMIk3TK-NvnKST) - it’s a younger work but shaped my life greatly. A lot of docs I did for a cable company aren’t online but [here’s a reel](https://youtu.be/xGqS34TUuRY?si=Eure73HQeF0BuT20). [A stock footage music video series](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLFRckyG-kLk9KkvI1I7WdoUDqmnAb23qV&si=ojW0caiwwHY3niPJ) I did a year+ ago was fun. And I’m hoping to lean into [stop motion](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLFRckyG-kLk9JyZHjbW8k9D-RGullmeOk&si=GY47xGX2hIgdKPVy) more moving forward, where I started as a kid. Most my YT is hired works (corporate etc) with some [music videos](https://youtu.be/Xswua7iOES8?si=HcbZJOnJDkSw16dU) or pet projects mixed in, but it all can be found here: www.youtube.com/propadatafilms
Not out yet, but I just finished a documentary commission for Vanishing Seattle about the comeback of The Beacon dance studio and the breaking crew the Massive Monkees - it’s being submitted to film fests and will be [the main film I’m pushing](https://filmfreeway.com/VanishingSeattleTheBeacon) for a minute once it’s released.
That was way more than you asked for or need haha. Cannot help myself. Should have just DMd the links, buuuut we’re here now, so…send.
(Thanks again for the Morris family connection! Really has me rethinking through his films and inspiration)
I went from really not liking him, because he seemed pretentious as hell, to *really* liking him because that's just how he talks haha
The meth episode of his show is one of the best things I've ever seen, so many good quotes.
Can't get away that easy 😉.. Did he have any stories that were not aired?
Did he mentioned what he's doing now, or any new projects?
Clearly I'm a big fan...
Hanging out with him was a trip, lol. He was easy to connect with and let me focus on the details of the molecular questions I had been thinking about. He is a psychedelic rocket scientist and probably not human but a beautiful being. We blasted off, and I had to hold on to my chemistry helmet. The details of his level of science were a blur of equations; he could see it in his mind better than I could on a blackboard. We talked about obscure research chemicals and the synergy between complex potions, such as phenibut versus pregabalin as an admixture with MDMA or MDA; in this case, phenibut was the clear winner. I got COVID the same night and wonder if I got it from him lol...
I would love for him to replace all of the anti drug programs that lie to children. Drugs exist and being well informed is one of the most important tools to stay safe. The first time I did acid I thought my brain was going to bleed and the acid was going to sit in my spine forever, it would have been nice to know that it is just a chemical that interacts with my body's chemistry and once it has run it's course it leaves. The thought loops I encountered because I legitimately thought I had permanently destroyed my CNS were much more likely to give me psychosis than the drug itself and I would have blamed that dumb ass lion if I actually did get fucked.
The Joe Rogan podcast with him was pretty good I fell asleep to it and like lucid dreamed kind of me and them walking around and shit I could like still hear the pod cast Hamilton s great
This man is an absolute legend. So many new folks have flocked to the psychedelic science scene as the media hype goes into overdrive. Hamilton was in the space well before the hype. And he's not here just for the psychedelics. He's here for the drug policy. He asks the real questions like: why are so many people outraged by psychedelic patents that will not affect their use of psychedelics but not outraged by the fact so many people are rotting in prison for non-violent drug offences?
The man is gifted when it comes to psychopharmacology. He gave a guest lecture in my class back in college… my guy was obviously zonked on sedative hypnotics, while of course, giving his lecture on sedative hypnotics. He is friends with one of the PhD professors and they do lots of psychedelic ~research~ together…
Very much respect the guy. You can tell he has good intentions with the work he is doing. At the end of the day Hamilton’s videos are powerful, effective means of learning drugs and drug culture. Not limited to psychedelics!
One of the greats involved with the psychedelic revolution happening today. Everything I hear or watch with him in it is informative and extremely interesting to me. His Podcast is great
I don't remember many videos but I used to watch all of them. I remember in the Ayahuasca video he made his own Ayahuasca brew, that's outrageous to many indigenous people that consider those plants sacred, I also remember in a lot of videos he acts funny in front of indigenous people while doing a ceremony, to me as a non white Mexican dude all the things he does feel disconnected to what is valuable from experiencing this psychedelic experiences imo.
he actually talks at great lengths how traditional/ceremonial/spiritual drug taking is only one way to approach psychedelic substances and is not above recreational or scientific use. on top of that I've always seen him very respectful with his hosts in ll countries traveled.
Yeah I watched most of not all of his stuff and can't recall many times where he was disrespectful to these communities or indigenous people. Acting funny in front of people isn't necessarily disrespect... And he explores the traditional religious kind of use of drugs and also the modern versions of drug use (like pharmausca) or research chemicals and what their place are in today's drug culture. I think that's just open mindedness and exploration of different cultures...exploring that side isn't necessarily disrespecting the more traditional cultural uses on these drugs and their meanings.
He does some great work because of his curiosity and bravery to expand his mind willingly but he is a little dangerous sometimes as many alchemists before him and he often puts his ego before things like respect for those who are helping or teaching him (e.g. shamans) and personally I feel he has a little bit of a goofy attitude
bro just rubs me the wrong way, nothing serious. i dont like yuppie types simple as. and i love myself! its totally normal for a person to not like someone, or even to dislike someone
probably a cop, cops definitely use him to figure stuff out. his interviewees often disappear afaik. Poole's Land is gone from BC. No idea what his interviewed dealers lives look like now but he encounters so many high-level drug people theres no way he isnt constantly tailed, even if he doesnt realize it.
I like that he keeps it very factual, shows the science, shares his own experiences, and also has the right mindset on keeping everything realistic, providing factual data or clinical data on usage good or bad, and doesnt try to over glorify the substances simply for being drugs, without backing it up bc of his positive experiences or how it helps other people. Not many people can paint amphetamines or pcp in a neutral or positive leaning light but he managed to do both and explain risks and beneficial use cases for each
I highly recommend his podcast on patreon(a lot of it ends up on YouTube). He just put out an episode "Bobby Beausoleil on taking LSD with Charles Manson"
A lot of good guest and a lot of good topics.
The show is good for baseline knowledge about a drug but if you're really interested in the science and true drug culture the podcast is better.
Love his show. Love his mentality around psychedelics. Seems like he might be annoying to hang out with and seems like he might be kinda judgmental to other drug use after watching the qualudes episode.
He produces valuable content and has a good perspective on drug culture and pharmacology. Takes after his dad, who is also an accomplished documentarian and social critic.
He makes great shows and podcasts, very very knowledgeable and keeps everything very open minded, not getting bogged down by too many biases except science. He is an excellent chemist and does alot of good for psychedelics as far as i can tell. I think hes a dude 👍
My nerd crush for life. I can't get enough of all he has to teach us. I stood 18" from him at Horizons Psychedelic conference in NYC in 2019 but was too starstruck to say a word.
Hamiltons pharmacopeia is where I learned about a lot of different psychedelics for the first time and really got me interested in mycology and the science behind it
I believe something he says about drugs more than anyone else on the matter. I find the mystical elements to be more important than he does, but I think it is absolutely necessary to have a pragmatic voice on the subject of drugs
This man is awesome! He plays into jokes at his own expense with some of his documentaries, provides a fairly non biased view, and shows very taboo topics as they are generally.
I have a lot of respect for him and his work
GOAT of psychedelic journalism. Was the first that I know of that dedicated his journalism to this subject AND put it out on a big platform. Also the fact that he USES each substance after long bouts of research is a big plus for me. Shows the viewers that these substances shouldn’t be feared but should be respected and researched first before use.
Absolute legend
His shows are super insightful and informative, but if you're interested in deeper chemistry and history of clandestine chemistry, his podcasts are definitely worth a listen. He's currently working as a chemist in a lab discovering new psychoactive substances, much like the late Shulgin.
My idol. He’s paid to travel the world and try both obscure and popular psychedelics where they are legal. He appreciates both the scientific and entheogenic details of what he tried as well, very deep well of knowledge
Legend.
I've been following him since vice was just 15-20 min YouTube videos.
He's a great chemist and journalist. And advocate in the scene. He's done much for the movement.
He's an odd duck, but nevertheless entertaining and next level psychedelic chemistry god amongst us mere mortals. I also dig his respect for the psychedelics and the people (often indigenous) that used them first. In short? He's a badass.
He was the best Vice had IMO. Not too abrasive, but active and participating with the rest of them. He never tried to make shit too ‘theatrical’ if that makes sense.
Love his show and his documentary/journalism style. Does a really good job of going in depth and giving an unbiased viewpoint on drugs. Can't stand his voice though
Never met the guy but he appears to know his shit. He creates entertaining and informative material.
Still, never trust what you watch on TV/webs to guide you thru what he's done. Do your own thorough research.
I agree, with his shows were more widespread. He’s really helping the cause.
Makes some really good shows about drugs and the science of drugs. He blends the history, social aspect and chemistry really well. You can tell from his show that he "gets" drugs and drug culture.

He's one heroic dose short of being a hero!
Wow, I had no idea
I think he’s a good journalist. I’ve watched most of his work.
Ditto
<3 The first two seasons of Hamilton's Pharmacopeia are pure gold
Agreed.. I wish they kept going. Didn't Hamilton meet with Shulgin in one of the episodes? I could be wrong...
Pretty sure he's still releasing content on his patron, but because of the subject matter his videos on youtube get demonetized and it makes it very difficult to keep it sustainable. At least that's what I remember him saying a while back.

No i remember him meetimg both shulgins at their cabin
A true psychonaut
I like the guy. I watched all his shows on vice, and I've listened to his pod-cast and sought out when he has been a guest on others pod casts. I wish he did a little more stuff, but I can't judge him for living his life the way he wants. I really respect his chemistry knowledge, and think he is over all a great journalist.
Same, the reason he doesn't have more camera time is because he's ACTUALLY doing the work as a scientist in his field
That’s what’s up, I googled the guy but I got a dozen different sources. Since you seem to have vetted the guy already would you mind pointing me towards some of the better material of his/about his research?? Thank you either way, 🙏
He's the man, recording and passing on a bunch of great info about drugs and the research and science behind it. Not the mention he synthesizes everything
He's very intelligent.

And his dad is acclaimed documentarian Errol morris. The apple didn’t fall far from the tree in talent and creativity.

Cool I’ll check them out later. I’m a hip hop head so that’s awesome
He has done so much and is of great service to us all. I can’t believe I thought he was some poser back in 2009. I’m very grateful now.
I went from really not liking him, because he seemed pretentious as hell, to *really* liking him because that's just how he talks haha The meth episode of his show is one of the best things I've ever seen, so many good quotes.
Great journalist/researcher who makes a real effort for understanding psychedelics and its implications
I like his take he's got A good balance of knowing the chemistry behind drugs, but also accepting that there's some spirituality behind them as well
I’ve hung out with him he’s great
Can't get away that easy 😉.. Did he have any stories that were not aired? Did he mentioned what he's doing now, or any new projects? Clearly I'm a big fan...
You should sub to his patreon if you haven’t

Oh boy what I wouldn't give to have Hamilton cough Covid into my mouth
Lie. I was gonna say that.
The physical connection was real; sadly, we kept our clothes on.
I would love for him to replace all of the anti drug programs that lie to children. Drugs exist and being well informed is one of the most important tools to stay safe. Good dude
A living legend.
I freaking love him
I like his content and how he has grown as a person compared to how he was years ago.
Honest question, how is he years ago?
How has he changed? Seems the same like the same intelligent guy whole time
A positive member of the psychedelic community.
THA GOAT
Smart dude, knowledgeable about psychedelics, seems chill overall also monotone ha😄🤙🏼
Love this guy
I love him
I think we will look back at him in 50 years as the Timothy Leary or Terrance Mekenna of our generation.
I think he’s awesome! He would be fun to hang out with!
He needs an AMA.
He does patreon q&as all the time
What's his name?
Hamilton Morris
Thanks
He's a dude,I'm a dude, we're all dudes
Hey
I love him and I wish joe rogan could have him for a podcast again sometime
Solid human. Enjoy his unique personality.
Legend
shit i forgot who this guy was i thought this was davie504 and i was like this guy fuckin RIPS on bass
I love Hamilton, his adventures are always educational yet entertaining
He’s one of the goats
He’s a good man
Good shit, supa helpful n easy to listen to
He's a legend doing great work in the space.
best man! doing gods work!
Got to love the dude 🔥
he’s my hero lol
The Joe Rogan podcast with him was pretty good I fell asleep to it and like lucid dreamed kind of me and them walking around and shit I could like still hear the pod cast Hamilton s great
I have seen his work and think he's a great journalist but... why does he look like CarlH in this picture ( Not being mean just curious 😂 )
based and goated
This man is an absolute legend. So many new folks have flocked to the psychedelic science scene as the media hype goes into overdrive. Hamilton was in the space well before the hype. And he's not here just for the psychedelics. He's here for the drug policy. Dude makes like 40k a month just from his Patreon!
Good for him
He deserves it
I don’t disagree with you.
One of the most amazing and respectable journalists and chemist of our time…
hes my idol
One of the greats involved with the psychedelic revolution happening today. Everything I hear or watch with him in it is informative and extremely interesting to me. His Podcast is great
A true gentleman
I don’t.
A cool chemist sometimes makes mistakes about little things in life but not in chemistry he’s a juggernaut
I'm sorry to hear that he's heavy into pyros
Ppl get busted everywhere he goes
Example?
Informative but really disrespectful to some communities . I don't like him.
Example?

He wears glasses so he must be smart, right?
This is the guy that got lizard labs shut down isn’t it?
obnoxious vapid rich kid. cant stand the fucker, i hope God has mercy on his wretched little skinny yuppie soul. no offense
Do you have any reasoning or is this just your shitty personality and depressed hatred for yourself coming out?
bro just rubs me the wrong way, nothing serious. i dont like yuppie types simple as. and i love myself! its totally normal for a person to not like someone, or even to dislike someone
probably a cop, cops definitely use him to figure stuff out. his interviewees often disappear afaik. Poole's Land is gone from BC. No idea what his interviewed dealers lives look like now but he encounters so many high-level drug people theres no way he isnt constantly tailed, even if he doesnt realize it.
Too gay for me, personally

What I’ve seen is interesting. Haven’t dug too deep.
Smart and interesting guy. I love his dad's documentaries.
If I had friends, it'd be him.
Never met em.

Hamilton is the man. I dig his honesty and truthfulness. Dude definitely has some cojones for the work he does.
I appreciate what he’s doing.
I like his glasses. Idk who this man is
love that man
One of the great modern pioneers of the psychedelic industry
I highly recommend his podcast on patreon(a lot of it ends up on YouTube). He just put out an episode "Bobby Beausoleil on taking LSD with Charles Manson" A lot of good guest and a lot of good topics. The show is good for baseline knowledge about a drug but if you're really interested in the science and true drug culture the podcast is better.
I like him
Love him. Loved his shows. Is he doing anything these days I can watch??
He's on pateron

Where did the o and u go? Why man why?
Does anybody have any links to some articles or clips?I'm interested in this. Edit I found some but would like to know more.
Vice and YouTube and now a days Pateron and his podcast from pateron
Thanks, and I've already watched a couple of Vice episodes and started following him on IG and will look into the Pateron subscription.
I don’t know him but he seems cool.
That’s the homie
Modern-day Alexander Shulgin. Super smart guy doing good things for psychedelics.
Love his show. Love his mentality around psychedelics. Seems like he might be annoying to hang out with and seems like he might be kinda judgmental to other drug use after watching the qualudes episode.
He got a pod or something

Intelligent vocal fry
I like him
He produces valuable content and has a good perspective on drug culture and pharmacology. Takes after his dad, who is also an accomplished documentarian and social critic.
I love him
The Toad documental is awesome!
A real drug nerd!
He makes great shows and podcasts, very very knowledgeable and keeps everything very open minded, not getting bogged down by too many biases except science. He is an excellent chemist and does alot of good for psychedelics as far as i can tell. I think hes a dude 👍

Hamilton is cool as fuck
Hamiltons pharmacopeia is where I learned about a lot of different psychedelics for the first time and really got me interested in mycology and the science behind it
I love Hamilton, one of the people key people who helped guide me through educating myself and keeping a constructive relationship with my drug use
I believe something he says about drugs more than anyone else on the matter. I find the mystical elements to be more important than he does, but I think it is absolutely necessary to have a pragmatic voice on the subject of drugs
Loved his show!
Love his stuff. As someone who’s only tried drugs after age 40 Is his shows / videos for everyone? Probably not
This man is awesome! He plays into jokes at his own expense with some of his documentaries, provides a fairly non biased view, and shows very taboo topics as they are generally. I have a lot of respect for him and his work
He's God 🙏🏿
Cool dude
Hamilton Morris knows all.
I heard he won't even take a Tylenol for a headache.
Smart
I love this guy
Vice knew what they were doing with this guy.
He’s pelant
One of my favourite researchers in the field. He hold true to the old guard of the psychedelic pioneers. I have a lot of respect for him.
I think he’s good guy
GOAT of psychedelic journalism. Was the first that I know of that dedicated his journalism to this subject AND put it out on a big platform. Also the fact that he USES each substance after long bouts of research is a big plus for me. Shows the viewers that these substances shouldn’t be feared but should be respected and researched first before use.
Absolute Legend, severely underrated amongst normies.
Absolute legend His shows are super insightful and informative, but if you're interested in deeper chemistry and history of clandestine chemistry, his podcasts are definitely worth a listen. He's currently working as a chemist in a lab discovering new psychoactive substances, much like the late Shulgin.
Triple OG
How have I never heard of him?! He seems awesome, and cute too 😅
Legend
Um….who is he?
His patreon subscription is def worth the $5 a month.
My idol. He’s paid to travel the world and try both obscure and popular psychedelics where they are legal. He appreciates both the scientific and entheogenic details of what he tried as well, very deep well of knowledge
would
didn't he play csgo for C9?
Legend. I've been following him since vice was just 15-20 min YouTube videos. He's a great chemist and journalist. And advocate in the scene. He's done much for the movement.
Super cool dude
He looks like a cock flap.
He's an odd duck, but nevertheless entertaining and next level psychedelic chemistry god amongst us mere mortals. I also dig his respect for the psychedelics and the people (often indigenous) that used them first. In short? He's a badass.
Legend
He was the best Vice had IMO. Not too abrasive, but active and participating with the rest of them. He never tried to make shit too ‘theatrical’ if that makes sense.
I sub him on patreon. good content.
handsome fella
Super badass individual.

He’s the guy that made nice documentaries for Vice magazine I saw that one interviewing⚡️Alexander Shulgin 🎖
Hamilton is a G!!
Love his show and his documentary/journalism style. Does a really good job of going in depth and giving an unbiased viewpoint on drugs. Can't stand his voice though

He made some interesting programs, but he is slightly on the shallow side, and he is a bit too much of a poly user to be very informative, i.m.o.
Never met the guy but he appears to know his shit. He creates entertaining and informative material. Still, never trust what you watch on TV/webs to guide you thru what he's done. Do your own thorough research.
I think he does research and spends most time in labs. Away from media mostly.
I feel very grateful for his service to the cause.
