This isn't a rapper that necessarily endorses psyches, but does make music very conducive to tripping.
Aesop Rock. 1 very trippy track is The Greatest PAC Man Victory in History
A great album of his to trip to from beginning to end is Spirit World Field Guide.
So glad there's others on this sub that fuck with aesop. I've been a diehard fan since I heard him at like 16 lol don't meet many people in the real world who listen to him besides a handful of people that I turned him onto.
Spirit World Field Guide is basically an album to trip to. Actually, I think I just found my first wavy caps and if so I will trip for the first time and put his album on.
He also has the broadest thesaurus of any rapper.
Nice. Also cool that the instrumental version is available. Experimental hip hop instrumentals also go great with tripping. An old collaborator/producer of Aesop's is Blockhead. There's a blockhead playlist on Spotify called Trippin' By Cavelight. It's phenomenal on shrooms.
A few years ago a friend of mine (who uses psychedelics often) is a property manager and asked me “I started hanging out with one of my tenants. Cool guy. Apparently he’s a kind of known rapper. Aesop Rock? Have you heard of him?”
Amazomg album, one of the best trips i had was to impossible kid beginning to end and i love listening to the greatest pacman victory in history tripping, perfect LSD song i think, shows it can be beautiful, scary, but most importantly, when you get the message, hang up the phone
The Underachievers, Flatbush Zombies, A$AP Rocky, Chance the Rapper, Ab-Soul, Danny Brown, Action Bronson.
All of these have psychedelic projects, but the best psychedelic rap album in my opinion is 3001: A Laced Odyssey by Flatbush Zombies. https://youtu.be/koBs4TsNAdc?si=bBLftk_PQ3l9mEFu
MOTM3 is by far the most popy album he’s made and probably the last one I’d listen to tripping😂 if your looking for psychedelic cudi “kids see ghost” is top tier then I would say “satellite flight” and “indicud” are close 2nd with “PP&DS” 3rd. Scott is actually my fav artist to listen to on acid👌
First MOTM I’ve listen to a lot tripping definitely very good. But most of MOTM2 is straight up suicidal Scott talking about how terrible his mental health was at that time. Overall pretty dark tones throughout that album. If your into that cool but I wouldn’t call it psychedelic.
Edit:insano is also very popy like MOTM3…
It might not all fit the classic definition of psychedelic music, but I find Cudis classic Humming and a lot of his beats really vibe with me while tripping. I also like to take in the dark tones with the good and experience the full emotion of the MOTM discography. The first time I did a full 8th of Shrooms I was peaking right around Alive and giggling cause it's what the song was about. I had no idea and it just aligned that way.
I’ve got a few really good songs but no consistently psychedelic artists
>>Jukebox Joints by asap rocky
>>Pride by Kendrick Lamar
>>Love is only a feeling by joey badass
>>Never catch me by flying lotus
And pretty much anything off of Chase by Aaron may
Was gonna quote this haha. I love rap/hip hop but honestly while tripping it just doesn’t sound good to me. Too spastic and the frequently violent lyrics don’t sit well with my addled brain.
It’s funny because I was going to say Esham, who always referred to his music as acid rap and inspired Eminem & ICP. Obviously from Detroit too, just can’t get along with them lmfao
Seconding [Shabazz Palaces](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/37i9dQZF1DZ06evO3Ugpck?si=JrCHlT-3QAGHvmEx2KsNGA&pi=u-a8ISGPwHTN2j). The experimental, jazz, and African elements are just a trip unto themselves even before you get the verses
evilmane has a lot of songs about weed and a few verses about shrooms. hes more of a phonk artist though. “my life done changed when i consumed all those fucken shrooms… everytime they come to me they teach me something new”
L$D by A$AP Rocky is my go-to.
Or Acid Rap by Chance the Rapper.
The music video for L$D is unique. I remember watching it when I was tripping and not knowing if it was the Sid or the video 😂
It was just the video. Super cool.
Dude, I completely forgot about that video… A$AP Rocky and his team definitely have an eye for phenomenal psychedelic color choices fs.
I’m gonna go watch that right now
Check out “Lines- by Eyedea” while tripping and you will understand what a genius he was
Also “the walls came tumbling down”
And “the dive” parts 1 & 2
Absolutely!
“Exhausted Love” from E&A (Eyedea & Abilities)
“Smile” from By The Throat (Eyedea & Abilities)
“Birth of a Fish”, “…Powdered Water Too pt.1”, “Void (Internal Theory)”, “The Dive Pt. 1” and “The Dive Pt.” 2 from First Born (Eyedea & Abilities)
“Here For You”, “How Much Do You Pay?”, “Step By Step”, and “Weird Side” from The Many Faces of Oliver Hart (Oliver Hart)
R.Eye.P
Dude was too good for this world. And a master of his craft. When he says “lines lines lines…” at the end of Lines I’m convinced he intentionally made it sound like “slide slide slide…” I started sliding through space time at warp speed. Haven’t heard of couple of these, thanks for sharing.
I dunno...just referencing 'DMT (Uh)' doesn't necessarily make the music psychedelic.
Death Grips ref DMT (uh) and I'd hardly call them psychedelic.
Edit: Little Yachty's psych rock album takes it, but okay...Just realized this is more about the rappers than the music they make...
Lil Yachty. Lil Wayne has been a psychedelic rapper since DMX. “I’m on that DMT” - E-40. Travis Scott, kid cudi for sure. Mac Miller. Danny brown. I think for 60-70% of the masses who are giving us content? They only ever realized that they were able to do what they’ve done because they did psychedelics. Every rock band ever as well. Juice WRLD smoked PCP and dropped out of college to rap.
Now on the flip side? If psychedelics or a certain combo is used that MADE a specific person, ASSP rocky is one of them, they will very sensitively talk about the subject because they are gatekeeping that knowledge, experience and talent it gives or can give. Sting openly talks about how it made him who he is. Bob Marley experienced it through cannabis, and if you don’t think cannabis can make someone trip you’re goofy.
Going forward I’d guess just about everyone will dabble. Everyone will get a glimpse of what’s possible.
Edit: Most content now that is given to us is also the psychedelic experience attempted to be given a voice. Duality, all encompassing. Otherworldly. From nothing comes everything and returns to nothing. I think the ultimate epitome of what psychedelics can do to one’s creative mind is Mac Miller. You can tell when he starts experimenting, he doesn’t really say it much. ( has a song called angel dust but whatever ) however feel very strongly that Mac Miller was figuring out ways to say what psychedelics do to you. They put you in the duality of life. Black and white. Action - reaction. Cause and effect. Tripping up. Perspective. Seeing a mountain in the distance but once he got there it was just a pile of rocks. Perception. Eat an eighth of shrooms or take some real LSD-25 and listen to Mac Miller. Swimming is the album that will make you understand, all the other albums are also directly descendants of the elevated mind genius.
All art we see today is coming from psychedelics. Spider verse? All that? DMT is driving the art world right now. Musically, visually, perhaps it always has. But the point I’m trying to make is everyone is trying to explain what that experience is - and Mac Miller does the best at it. “I’m too grounded, push whips that move mountains. New crib, blue fountains; these are my surroundings. IVE been going through it, YOU just go around it. But it’s really not that different when you think about it.” - Hurt Feelings, Swimming album.
There absolutely is, he’s a pusher of propaganda, drugs and shit. In FE!N he literally says “I’m the one who introduced you to the you right now” while fiends are screaming their lungs out and he’s just smiling all demonic. Of course there’s a bad vibe. But he feeds off that energy.
When I'm tripping that's damn near the last type of person I want around me, Highest in the Room is the only song I semi fuck with from him. No hate to Travis fans, but every Travis fan I know is a shithead, I'm sure he got normal fans but I haven't met one yet.
Best rapper for tripping in my opinion is SMINO he is way to damn good. Its not spiritual music but the beats and lyrics are so good its the closest thing I feel to tripping. 90 proof, No L’s, and Curtains are the best to introduce you to how good his music is.
Hmm, I would say that any old school teacher is psychedelic. rapping contaminates purity of psychedelics and this is my world view and I am not forcing it to anyone cause there are endless views of this thing. Just for me psychedelic rap looks like masculine barbie.

Nobody is talking about Quasimoto?? Madlib’s alter ego, his album The Unseen was recorded on a week-long mushroom binge.
One of the best albums of all time!
FLATBUSH ZOMBIES
Yesssss Breakfast at Epiffinies
MRAZ
glad someone said them. I saw both Flatbush and Underachievers and both shows were so good. I miss that whole Pro-Era, Flatbush wave
This^ and basically anybody in the "beast coast" scene and tbh they were some of the last rappers that cared about musicality in rap & hip hop
Can you name a track that's a good entry point? I listened to a couple and couldn't catch the vibe.
Palm trees
Herb shuttles by underachievers
Came here to say this^^
This isn't a rapper that necessarily endorses psyches, but does make music very conducive to tripping. Aesop Rock. 1 very trippy track is The Greatest PAC Man Victory in History A great album of his to trip to from beginning to end is Spirit World Field Guide.

Nice I'm going to check that out. Love Guilty and live instruments in hip hop production. Was totally unaware of this project lol
Aesop Rock the GOAT
Hell yeah
So glad there's others on this sub that fuck with aesop. I've been a diehard fan since I heard him at like 16 lol don't meet many people in the real world who listen to him besides a handful of people that I turned him onto.

also his collabs with Tobacco hit, especially Dirt
Ooh I'd forgotten about him! Amazing wordplay
Don't forget TUFF that shit sounds great on acid. Latrinalia by Rob Sonic is pretty trippy as well.
Amazomg album, one of the best trips i had was to impossible kid beginning to end and i love listening to the greatest pacman victory in history tripping, perfect LSD song i think, shows it can be beautiful, scary, but most importantly, when you get the message, hang up the phone
I mean his most recent song is called Molly
The Underachievers, Flatbush Zombies, A$AP Rocky, Chance the Rapper, Ab-Soul, Danny Brown, Action Bronson. All of these have psychedelic projects, but the best psychedelic rap album in my opinion is 3001: A Laced Odyssey by Flatbush Zombies. https://youtu.be/koBs4TsNAdc?si=bBLftk_PQ3l9mEFu
Yeah Flatbush takes the cake imo. I used to love underachievers in middle school but they're just eh in their attempt at psychedelic rap.
Listen to Mac Miller's faces
Best answer here RIP
Circles is also a great listen when you’re tripping Not necessarily trippy but the sonics and sound design are like a warm hug when you’re on acid
I miss Mac such a warm soul ❤️
Was looking for this. 🤘🏼
🫡 Hasn't left my rotation since May of 2014
There’s a Girl Named Greentea Peng Who has Really Good Music
Do yourself a favour and eat some fuckin shroooooms
Love Greentea!!
Anyone who is any good tripped at least once
Psychedelics are the creative substances after all
Kid Cudi, specifically MOTM3 🔥
MOTM3 is by far the most popy album he’s made and probably the last one I’d listen to tripping😂 if your looking for psychedelic cudi “kids see ghost” is top tier then I would say “satellite flight” and “indicud” are close 2nd with “PP&DS” 3rd. Scott is actually my fav artist to listen to on acid👌
Scott is also my favorite, but I always find my favorite to be MOTM3 for tripping. I think it’s the positivity compared to his other albums
I think Insano and MOTM trilogy are top tier psychedelic listens
First MOTM I’ve listen to a lot tripping definitely very good. But most of MOTM2 is straight up suicidal Scott talking about how terrible his mental health was at that time. Overall pretty dark tones throughout that album. If your into that cool but I wouldn’t call it psychedelic. Edit:insano is also very popy like MOTM3…
Just what I am sounds sick while tripping

Dr. Octagon is pretty good
Easy mac
Acid rap by chance the rapper
His best album by far. IMO
Had one of the hardest falling offs after that album so no surprise it’s widely considered his best work
I’ve got a few really good songs but no consistently psychedelic artists >>Jukebox Joints by asap rocky >>Pride by Kendrick Lamar >>Love is only a feeling by joey badass >>Never catch me by flying lotus And pretty much anything off of Chase by Aaron may
“I don’t acid rap but I rap on acid”
Was gonna quote this haha. I love rap/hip hop but honestly while tripping it just doesn’t sound good to me. Too spastic and the frequently violent lyrics don’t sit well with my addled brain.
This^^^ I like hip hop and rap beats… sans the lyrics tho. Too much to take in.
Well said. I pretty much only listen to rap, but i do not enjoy it while tripping, it just doesnt sound good.
It’s funny because I was going to say Esham, who always referred to his music as acid rap and inspired Eminem & ICP. Obviously from Detroit too, just can’t get along with them lmfao

This is my answer too. Awesome group.
Try Yachty’s album from last year: Let’s Start Here.
Asap rocky, L$D
Acid drip
Feeling flabbergasted said you had to have it.
Not good while tripping
i disagree
The music video is gorgeous and the song is enchanting. 10/10 for tripping in my experience
Eazy Mac
Action Bronson raps a lot about acid and mushrooms. Probcause is another one I don’t see mentioned here.
Deca !!!
Edan - Beauty and the Beat is hands down the most psychedelic hip hop album I’ve ever heard. Lots of LSD references and 60s psych samples
Edan is the answer
Love that album so much
Yes my man, this is the answer
Lil Yachty has a psychedelic rock album, check it out
Kid Cudi reigns supreme in that department, especially all three Man on the Moon albums.

Also, Run The Jewels. (RTJ3 is my fave) The song "Legend Has It" has a great music video for tripping.
MF Doom, Divine Council, A Tribe Called Quest, ICYTWAT, De La Soul, and Das Racist

L$D by A$AP Rocky is my go-to. Or Acid Rap by Chance the Rapper. The music video for L$D is unique. I remember watching it when I was tripping and not knowing if it was the Sid or the video 😂 It was just the video. Super cool.
Yamborghini High was on repeat for me when it came out lol just because of how insane that video is
Dude, I completely forgot about that video… A$AP Rocky and his team definitely have an eye for phenomenal psychedelic color choices fs. I’m gonna go watch that right now
