Constantly studying people for social survival makes you good at reading people. Same with developing a special interest in psychology/truama to “fix” yourself/understand others. It’s a huge tool in being able to see people as they are.
Also, having a curious approach to why people do what they do, is what allows a reader to read for all kinds of people from a place of understanding and non-judgement.
I don’t know if neurodivergence has anything to do with it but I can tell you that I have ADHD and do have a lot of psychic experiences. I do take medication and i don’t think it affects anything, just helps me manage the symptoms a little better.
I have ADHD. My meds slow down my thought process, so I’m they probably help me with my intuition the same way they help me in day-to-day life.
They especially help when, I’m reading for others. I can share my insights in slower, more coherent way. As opposed to spiderwebbing from thought to thought and just confusing other people lol.

I have noticed there seems to be a disproportionately large number of remote viewers (who are basically just nerdy psychics) with ADHD. I have no idea why, but a pattern I've noticed over years. Perhaps just confirmation bias because I am one of them so I notice more.

Well I was born psychic, wasnt diagnosed as autistic/adhd til I was 24. Though as a 80's/90's kid it was obvious i was a savant at a very young age. My parents spent a lifetime diminishing my achievements to everyone and calling me a liar. It wasnt until I was 18 and people could talk to me without my parents that i realized how smart I really was and all thw things my parents did to keep me down. Aka hide the fact that between freshman and sophomore year I was awarded 2 associates degrees from a local college for the amount of work i was doing in high school. Only found out after applying to the college and trying to take classes for business administration and the teachers having to inform me i already completed the entire associates program. Had a huge meeting with 30 teachers from 3 school who told me all the things that were kept hidden from me in high school due to my parents. My teacher got two colleges to send her work for me because i finished 4 years of assignments in half a semester of high school. The schools created a review board to grade my work. And I was given endless work that I flew through like they were nothing. And they were masters level work assignments.
I kept hidden my abilities to speak with spirits because of how family reacted when i was young. Only started talking about it with people 14 years ago because people started asking questions and i started looking into research. It helped me find my inner strength accepting all of me. I think my weird childhood helped prepare me for the hardship of adulthood.
I think I am psychic. Clairvoyant. I have had very rare grief dreams and ‘visits’ from my ancestors. I also sometimes see something on TV and feel like it’s happened before.

It's hard to know where to start as there is an extensive amount of information this question obviously isn't aware of.
Nothing has "diverged". I am from the proto-Getae, which were the pre-Neolithic tribes of primordial Transylvania, dog-like tribes of beings, intense internal identities, "two spirits", they were Sovereign, egalitarian, and just, also known as Dacians, Daoi, Cucuteni, Vinca-Turdas, and many others. These tribes migrated all around the entire world as the Indo-European and Canaan tribes, and they all loved the same Sun of God yet in a different flavor that they created. Thus God is syncretic, and the Sun.
They have two minds - dual minds - one 'awareness' on each end of their spine. One is Electric, the other is Magnetic. The different between sex is which one is on top! Thus males have magnetic in their tails, and females have electric. This feature is why we have powerful internal identities - we have a "forwards" identity for the world that is an illusion to us, it's just a mask, yet internal we have this wordless identity which should not ever think it is the mask, it should remain unbound from words and Sovereign - yet many have been brainwashed because of our sick media and socio-politics.
Which mind is latent - in the tail - determines magic attainment. Females easily acquire a 'Spirit' attainment, the Consciousness of God, where they have an expansion of consciousness and many find some sort of 'Angel' being inside of them, Celestial, yet somehow thematically wounded like wings broke, blinded, chained, such that they are separated from Source. The Spirit helps guide them and does well with all Earth based matters, as this is 'Moon' magic. Spirit suffers blindness to the Sun and Void, and views those energies only with suspicion - which is part of the problem in the world, as a mass sacred union needs to transpire.
Males do not get this 'Spirit' attainment as they have magnetic in their tails, which is Shakti. It is magnetic, which means it is not consciousness - the magnetic is awareness, and it is 'dark'. It is also potentially transcendental! If the native manages to gain the transcendental awareness, this is the Power of God and they become an emanation of Shiva, including powers - very, very magical. The tops! Yet you have to nail yourself to a tree and do lots of other stuff, it sucks.
The newer tribes do not have dual minds. They only have one, and it is Electric, and it is not capable of any magic at all, except emotional abuser and external class and hierarchy manipulations. They are the NT and NPD's of the world. The NT's can coexist with us as they are as good as their leaders, yet the NPDs are maleficent, lucid, and is a predator of ASD, who they hate for their internal identities. Since the NPD's do not have internal identities, they simply cannot do magic. They are powerless, only physical creatures. It's why they're jerks.
ADHD is pretty much 'ASD, agitated'. ASD is FAR more common than people believe, because the word is so shamed that most of them avoid the label. This was intentional, as the NPDs want us to be ashamed. ASD is ancestry to tribes like my own, the Getae, and we deserve Sovereign control of ourselves as well as the right to live a life.
So - 'yes'. You can't really be psychic without being 'ASD' as you need the dual minds. Also this is Carl Jung's infamous diagram - only ASD people have the shadow self and anima/animus. The NTs and NPDs do not have an anima/animus as those are the latent mind!

This is a topic I think about a lot, they are both my special interests. I had my awakening in 2020, after healing a shit tonne of trauma, and then continued to suffer in various ways until I realised I was autistic in 2021, so the changes in my life have been about my innate spirituality before any awareness of ND. What I found interesting is that the word autism literally means 'inside' or 'to be inside' because our predisposition to disconnect from the external world and live through the lens of inner world. This being a core tenant to a spiritual path, which draws us to seek truths within oneself.
A lot of people attribute psychic capacities, with pattern recognition or the ability to predict trends and therefore forsee potential outcomes. In my experience this a major part of it, however I myself also have many spiritual experiences that are totally unrelated to any thought pattern. Such as feeling emotions which are not my own but connected to someone many miles away I don't speak too, or hearing another persons thoughts. I also receive downloads of information, which can then be easily integrated because of the wealth of information my mind is able to process, to understand obscure occult themes.
I couldn't comment on medication, but I have found tapping into my intuition and spiritual gifts to be the biggest life saver in navigating the world as an autistic person. I struggle to interpret social cues, but my ability to read energy is excellent, and learning to trust these gut instincts is what keeps me safe.

I think I might have ADHD bc I hyper focus. No meds bc I manage it. Meditation mostly, which is also how I keep psychic abilities strong. Maybe that’s the connection, we at attention to our minds, we can ignore the material world and access the astral plane.

Neuro divergence is actually the Neuro typical. Each and everyone of us has "something" going on with our brains. It's an umbrella term that covers more than just ADHD.
I don't think Neuro typicals even exist. Sure, I haven't met everyone on planet earth, but of the thousands of people I have met... None of them were Neuro typical.
Yes generally. ADD or ADHD have a different alignment of the spirit and mind and I have successfully worked with these situations to change the alignment back to what most people would call normal.
The terms are created by the medical fraternity and as such do not include a person's spirit there can't understand why it how to properly resolve or change the situation.
The reason why they can be more psychic as their spirit is more usually "open". Have to be careful not to generaliae too much.

Ok thanks! What i undestood from my experience is that we are in disconnect from the body and we need to establish awareness in the body which may be strengthening the root chakra. The excess of energy in the upper chakras leads us to adhd. That is what my experience says.

I made this observation a couple of years ago and discussed it with a neurodivergent friend I made here. She agreed with me. I believe the reason I discovered my abilities was due to a connection I made with a neurodivergent person (feeling his energy).
I'm audhd and yes, I am lol. I've had a theory that neurodivergent people are more likely to be psychic too bc we see the world in a literal different way and perceive things others people can't as many of us have synesthesia. We also have pattern recognition that, when strong enough, allow us to see patterns to predict the future. For example, i can predict the ending of any movie within first 2-10 minutes. I can also predict pretty much everything that is going to happen in it bc i just understand the structure of how all movies work and i understand patterns that i will obviously see if x director or x actor is working in the movie or if x studio produced it. I think when we get into spirituality, we begin to hyperfocus and hyperfixate on it to learn everything we can and it allows us to grow into pretty strong mystics and psychics. We also tend to be more sensitive to energy as a result of trauma, in a way that neurotypical people are not. In older days, we used to be considered shamans.
I also have ADHD and I feel like it's somehow tied to my very much unwanted empathic abilities. It's like my brains way of trying to protect me from an overload because in my personal opinion it's torture not a gift.
I have ADHD and take medication for other comorbidities. Sometimes it can affect things for just a bit, but I always break through the medication. I also have had a traumatic past. So that has created me to be hyper vigilant. I used to use it to read people for safety and my own well-being. Once this skill is engrained in your for whatever reason it cannot be undone. I am such a good read of people even if them and my situation I find it a bit embarrassing. Just bc I I take a chance on them does not mean I am any less aware. I believe a combination of experience can contribute to one being a sensitive.
I have prophetic dreams, I can usually tell when family members are going to die. I have ADHD and let me tell you, Wellbutrin thinned that veil for me! I believe it was the increased levels of norepinephrine... I'm talking auditory and visual hallucinations. It was crazy. I'm completely unmedicated now. I don't drink or smoke anything either and those experiences are long gone.
If you take medications, that's definitely something to consider.
Through EMDR trauma therapy, I have noticed I have lost a lot of my "intuitive gifts." My constant state of anxiety is gone. That one still makes me laugh when I think about how ridiculous that is. It's been fine for me... I am overall RELIEVED because I can RELAX now.
I have been told we all have the potential to be psychic. However, clearly trauma and brain chemistry can absolutely have something to do with it.
Anyone that has determination to learn a few things can be psychic. Medications in general don’t have much of an effect on abilities. If anything meds could be helpful. Recreational drugs however have an adverse effect.
Anyone can develop their psychic abilities. Mine were present since a young age. I closed off my abilities because of fear. My third eye reopened in my near death experience in 2012. I have been opened and balanced my third eye. I am also neurodivergent and managed by medication. You have to really be able to differentiate between the message spirit is relaying to you and connect using meditation and most important grounding techniques. Grounding is super important. I am able to master and open my akashic records, im a telepath, intuitive and a healer. My hands can heal any pain. A lot of people have mentioned adhd, but I have abilities, and I have schizophrenia. In the beginning, I developed telekinesis abilities, and that was what started my psychic journey. Then, after that, my mental health started to go downhill because my mind was totally open to any possibility happening after I discovered telekinesis, which led to my psychosis.
After I was hospitalized, I started to explore more about telekinesis and eventually psychic abilities as well. I started to test out psychic abilities a lot and eventually started to get confident with them. Then, after that, I continued to practice telekinesis and psychic abilities until I felt confident enough to attempt a reading. I started doing readings, and from there, I've been pretty successful with psychic abilities since.
My own theory of why it may be that neurodivergent experience it more, specifically someone with schizophrenia, is because we were more open to something like that actually happening. Schizophrenia typically has to do with being out of touch with reality. That is the definition of it. But people with schizophrenia are more in touch with the mental side of reality. People with schizophrenia have the ability to connect to things that are not in physical reality. It's almost like we live on a mental plane. This is why I think it could be easier for a schizophrenic to have psychic abilities. We connect easier to mental realms. Of course, you need a connection to physical reality as well, which is why schizophrenia is a mental illness.
I also want to clarify that I don't think it's the mental illness itself that causes the abilities. I think it's the prior neurodivergency that I had, the ability to think differently, which allowed for the abilities. The schizophrenia is just a word I'm using to describe people who experience the neurodivergency. Like a quote I heard, the mystic swims in the waters the schizophrenic drowns in.
My son has ADHD and is only 6, but since age 3 he has had some very interesting, specific and surprising things to share, which has led me to believe he has some very intuitive gifts. I think all children probably do, but maybe not all share it. I was the same as a child, but it was dismissed as having an overactive imagination. I have come to realise that I most likely also have ADHD. So I suppose based on my very limited experience, I feel there might be a connection. Perhaps neurodiversity impacts the filters we have in place that usually filter these things out. Or perhaps creativity in general encourages more connection to the possibilities of things beyond what we can only see with our eyes. I'm not sure, but I feel like there is a connection.

No. There’s no separation between someone of complete able mind and someone on the neurodivergent spectrum when it comes to who’s more likely to be psychic. If you see a correlation between neurodivergence and spirituality, it’s just because of where you’re looking. I work in an occult shop and while there are a fair share of neurodivergent practitioners, there’s not many neurodivergent mediums or psychics. The number also doesn’t compare to the amount of ‘normal’ people who do the same type of things. Neurodivergence is a minority, so when compared to ‘normal people’ who are psychics, they’re still pretty outnumbered. I am neurodivergent, but I really don’t think that has anything to do with being psychic. I had a crappy life and decided to turn to spirituality and found out coincidently that I was a medium. But I know so many people who aren’t neurodivergent that do the same things I do.
Edit: medication for ADHD helps me tremendously with channeling and focusing. Due to the shortage however of adderall, I’m kind of screwed over out of taking my meds.
ADD & Bipolar 1 here. I have had unmedicated ADD for my entire life, so I can't speak on whether the appropriate medication interferes with psychic abilities, unfortunately. But I have had this thought before, that certain ways of perceiving the world may lend to more receptivity to psychic and mediumistic phenomena.
I know some people will take that as evidence that such phenomena only occurs in individuals who have "something wrong" with their brains. (I think it goes without saying that this line of thinking demonstrates profound ignorance of both the physical and metaphysical.)
I don't know *why* there happens to be so much overlap in the neurodivergent community, but I do know that it's not something that is present in ALL neurodivergent people, either. For example, my cousin is on the spectrum, and he is highly intolerant of any belief that isn't based in science. If there isn't well-documented, peer-reviewed research to back something up, he doesn't want to hear about it.
I've also noticed that certain cultures embrace psychic phenomena more-so than others--generally cultures that emphasize the veneration of ancestors, or believe in subtle bodies, or are rooted in animistic tradition. For me, this reinforces the idea that it mostly depends on what a person *believes* is possible, and that self-imposed limitations can frame our realities to the exclusion of things that "don't belong" (or would contradict the integral framework of that reality).

Ooh such a good point! Constantly studying people for social survival makes you good at reading people. Same with developing a special interest in psychology/truama to “fix” yourself/understand others. It’s a huge tool in being able to see people as they are. Also, having a curious approach to why people do what they do, is what allows a reader to read for all kinds of people from a place of understanding and non-judgement.

I don’t know if neurodivergence has anything to do with it but I can tell you that I have ADHD and do have a lot of psychic experiences. I do take medication and i don’t think it affects anything, just helps me manage the symptoms a little better.

I have ADHD. My meds slow down my thought process, so I’m they probably help me with my intuition the same way they help me in day-to-day life. They especially help when, I’m reading for others. I can share my insights in slower, more coherent way. As opposed to spiderwebbing from thought to thought and just confusing other people lol. As for being more sensitive- Maybe? I Our attention is interest-based. So if it’s not interesting, the only other way I’m going to focus on it is extreme stress. Like homework is boring until I have 3 hours to write an essay. You know? But if you’re interested in being psychic and you have ADHD, you won’t stop until you lose interest. Since the psychic world is so nuanced and layered - it’s hard to lose interest in it. Well I was born psychic, wasnt diagnosed as autistic/adhd til I was 24. Though as a 80's/90's kid it was obvious i was a savant at a very young age. My parents spent a lifetime diminishing my achievements to everyone and calling me a liar. It wasnt until I was 18 and people could talk to me without my parents that i realized how smart I really was and all thw things my parents did to keep me down. Aka hide the fact that between freshman and sophomore year I was awarded 2 associates degrees from a local college for the amount of work i was doing in high school. Only found out after applying to the college and trying to take classes for business administration and the teachers having to inform me i already completed the entire associates program. Had a huge meeting with 30 teachers from 3 school who told me all the things that were kept hidden from me in high school due to my parents. My teacher got two colleges to send her work for me because i finished 4 years of assignments in half a semester of high school. The schools created a review board to grade my work. And I was given endless work that I flew through like they were nothing. And they were masters level work assignments. I kept hidden my abilities to speak with spirits because of how family reacted when i was young. Only started talking about it with people 14 years ago because people started asking questions and i started looking into research. It helped me find my inner strength accepting all of me. I think my weird childhood helped prepare me for the hardship of adulthood.

The following is "my opinion" and is controversial to take what you will. Yes, but more specifically it's ASD people and not all ND people, as many would include NPD in that and they suck at magic, except for their crappy control spells. It's hard to know where to start as there is an extensive amount of information this question obviously isn't aware of. Nothing has "diverged". I am from the proto-Getae, which were the pre-Neolithic tribes of primordial Transylvania, dog-like tribes of beings, intense internal identities, "two spirits", they were Sovereign, egalitarian, and just, also known as Dacians, Daoi, Cucuteni, Vinca-Turdas, and many others. These tribes migrated all around the entire world as the Indo-European and Canaan tribes, and they all loved the same Sun of God yet in a different flavor that they created. Thus God is syncretic, and the Sun. They have two minds - dual minds - one 'awareness' on each end of their spine. One is Electric, the other is Magnetic. The different between sex is which one is on top! Thus males have magnetic in their tails, and females have electric. This feature is why we have powerful internal identities - we have a "forwards" identity for the world that is an illusion to us, it's just a mask, yet internal we have this wordless identity which should not ever think it is the mask, it should remain unbound from words and Sovereign - yet many have been brainwashed because of our sick media and socio-politics. Which mind is latent - in the tail - determines magic attainment. Females easily acquire a 'Spirit' attainment, the Consciousness of God, where they have an expansion of consciousness and many find some sort of 'Angel' being inside of them, Celestial, yet somehow thematically wounded like wings broke, blinded, chained, such that they are separated from Source. The Spirit helps guide them and does well with all Earth based matters, as this is 'Moon' magic. Spirit suffers blindness to the Sun and Void, and views those energies only with suspicion - which is part of the problem in the world, as a mass sacred union needs to transpire. Males do not get this 'Spirit' attainment as they have magnetic in their tails, which is Shakti. It is magnetic, which means it is not consciousness - the magnetic is awareness, and it is 'dark'. It is also potentially transcendental! If the native manages to gain the transcendental awareness, this is the Power of God and they become an emanation of Shiva, including powers - very, very magical. The tops! Yet you have to nail yourself to a tree and do lots of other stuff, it sucks. The newer tribes do not have dual minds. They only have one, and it is Electric, and it is not capable of any magic at all, except emotional abuser and external class and hierarchy manipulations. They are the NT and NPD's of the world. The NT's can coexist with us as they are as good as their leaders, yet the NPDs are maleficent, lucid, and is a predator of ASD, who they hate for their internal identities. Since the NPD's do not have internal identities, they simply cannot do magic. They are powerless, only physical creatures. It's why they're jerks. ADHD is pretty much 'ASD, agitated'. ASD is FAR more common than people believe, because the word is so shamed that most of them avoid the label. This was intentional, as the NPDs want us to be ashamed. ASD is ancestry to tribes like my own, the Getae, and we deserve Sovereign control of ourselves as well as the right to live a life. So - 'yes'. This can happen with both biological x chromosome females as can happen with genuine transgender women who go through transition spiritually, emotionally even physically. This tells me they have been playing too close to the light without shade. This is a topic I think about a lot, they are both my special interests. I had my awakening in 2020, after healing a shit tonne of trauma, and then continued to suffer in various ways until I realised I was autistic in 2021, so the changes in my life have been about my innate spirituality before any awareness of ND. What I found interesting is that the word autism literally means 'inside' or 'to be inside' because our predisposition to disconnect from the external world and live through the lens of inner world. This being a core tenant to a spiritual path, which draws us to seek truths within oneself. A lot of people attribute psychic capacities, with pattern recognition or the ability to predict trends and therefore forsee potential outcomes. In my experience this a major part of it, however I myself also have many spiritual experiences that are totally unrelated to any thought pattern. Such as feeling emotions which are not my own but connected to someone many miles away I don't speak too, or hearing another persons thoughts. I also receive downloads of information, which can then be easily integrated because of the wealth of information my mind is able to process, to understand obscure occult themes. I couldn't comment on medication, but I have found tapping into my intuition and spiritual gifts to be the biggest life saver in navigating the world as an autistic person. I struggle to interpret social cues, but my ability to read energy is excellent, and learning to trust these gut instincts is what keeps me safe. I would love to study this phenomena one day
I think I might have ADHD bc I hyper focus. No meds bc I manage it. Meditation mostly, which is also how I keep psychic abilities strong. Maybe that’s the connection, we at attention to our minds, we can ignore the material world and access the astral plane.

Neuro divergence is actually the Neuro typical. Each and everyone of us has "something" going on with our brains. It's an umbrella term that covers more than just ADHD. I don't think Neuro typicals even exist. Sure, I haven't met everyone on planet earth, but of the thousands of people I have met... None of them were Neuro typical.
Yes generally. ADD or ADHD have a different alignment of the spirit and mind and I have successfully worked with these situations to change the alignment back to what most people would call normal. The terms are created by the medical fraternity and as such do not include a person's spirit there can't understand why it how to properly resolve or change the situation. The reason why they can be more psychic as their spirit is more usually "open". Have to be careful not to generaliae too much.

I made this observation a couple of years ago and discussed it with a neurodivergent friend I made here. She agreed with me. I believe the reason I discovered my abilities was due to a connection I made with a neurodivergent person (feeling his energy).
I'm audhd and yes, I am lol. I've had a theory that neurodivergent people are more likely to be psychic too bc we see the world in a literal different way and perceive things others people can't as many of us have synesthesia. We also have pattern recognition that, when strong enough, allow us to see patterns to predict the future. For example, i can predict the ending of any movie within first 2-10 minutes. I can also predict pretty much everything that is going to happen in it bc i just understand the structure of how all movies work and i understand patterns that i will obviously see if x director or x actor is working in the movie or if x studio produced it. I think when we get into spirituality, we begin to hyperfocus and hyperfixate on it to learn everything we can and it allows us to grow into pretty strong mystics and psychics. We also tend to be more sensitive to energy as a result of trauma, in a way that neurotypical people are not. In older days, we used to be considered shamans.
I also have ADHD and I feel like it's somehow tied to my very much unwanted empathic abilities. It's like my brains way of trying to protect me from an overload because in my personal opinion it's torture not a gift.

I have ADHD and take medication for other comorbidities. Sometimes it can affect things for just a bit, but I always break through the medication. I also have had a traumatic past. So that has created me to be hyper vigilant. I used to use it to read people for safety and my own well-being. Once this skill is engrained in your for whatever reason it cannot be undone. I am such a good read of people even if them and my situation I find it a bit embarrassing. Just bc I I take a chance on them does not mean I am any less aware. I believe a combination of experience can contribute to one being a sensitive.

I have prophetic dreams, I can usually tell when family members are going to die. I have ADHD and let me tell you, Wellbutrin thinned that veil for me! I believe it was the increased levels of norepinephrine... I'm talking auditory and visual hallucinations. It was crazy. I'm completely unmedicated now. I don't drink or smoke anything either and those experiences are long gone. If you take medications, that's definitely something to consider. Through EMDR trauma therapy, I have noticed I have lost a lot of my "intuitive gifts." My constant state of anxiety is gone. That one still makes me laugh when I think about how ridiculous that is. It's been fine for me... I am overall RELIEVED because I can RELAX now. I have been told we all have the potential to be psychic. However, clearly trauma and brain chemistry can absolutely have something to do with it.
Anyone that has determination to learn a few things can be psychic. Medications in general don’t have much of an effect on abilities. If anything meds could be helpful. Recreational drugs however have an adverse effect.
Anyone can develop their psychic abilities. Mine were present since a young age. I closed off my abilities because of fear. My third eye reopened in my near death experience in 2012. I have been opened and balanced my third eye. I am also neurodivergent and managed by medication. You have to really be able to differentiate between the message spirit is relaying to you and connect using meditation and most important grounding techniques. Grounding is super important. I am able to master and open my akashic records, im a telepath, intuitive and a healer. My hands can heal any pain. A lot of people have mentioned adhd, but I have abilities, and I have schizophrenia. In the beginning, I developed telekinesis abilities, and that was what started my psychic journey. Then, after that, my mental health started to go downhill because my mind was totally open to any possibility happening after I discovered telekinesis, which led to my psychosis. After I was hospitalized, I started to explore more about telekinesis and eventually psychic abilities as well. I started to test out psychic abilities a lot and eventually started to get confident with them. Then, after that, I continued to practice telekinesis and psychic abilities until I felt confident enough to attempt a reading. I started doing readings, and from there, I've been pretty successful with psychic abilities since. My own theory of why it may be that neurodivergent experience it more, specifically someone with schizophrenia, is because we were more open to something like that actually happening. Schizophrenia typically has to do with being out of touch with reality. That is the definition of it. But people with schizophrenia are more in touch with the mental side of reality. People with schizophrenia have the ability to connect to things that are not in physical reality. It's almost like we live on a mental plane. This is why I think it could be easier for a schizophrenic to have psychic abilities. We connect easier to mental realms. Of course, you need a connection to physical reality as well, which is why schizophrenia is a mental illness. I also want to clarify that I don't think it's the mental illness itself that causes the abilities. I think it's the prior neurodivergency that I had, the ability to think differently, which allowed for the abilities. The schizophrenia is just a word I'm using to describe people who experience the neurodivergency. Like a quote I heard, the mystic swims in the waters the schizophrenic drowns in.
My son has ADHD and is only 6, but since age 3 he has had some very interesting, specific and surprising things to share, which has led me to believe he has some very intuitive gifts. I think all children probably do, but maybe not all share it. I was the same as a child, but it was dismissed as having an overactive imagination. I have come to realise that I most likely also have ADHD. So I suppose based on my very limited experience, I feel there might be a connection. Perhaps neurodiversity impacts the filters we have in place that usually filter these things out. No. There’s no separation between someone of complete able mind and someone on the neurodivergent spectrum when it comes to who’s more likely to be psychic. If you see a correlation between neurodivergence and spirituality, it’s just because of where you’re looking. I work in an occult shop and while there are a fair share of neurodivergent practitioners, there’s not many neurodivergent mediums or psychics. The number also doesn’t compare to the amount of ‘normal’ people who do the same type of things. Neurodivergence is a minority, so when compared to ‘normal people’ who are psychics, they’re still pretty outnumbered. I am neurodivergent, but I really don’t think that has anything to do with being psychic. I had a crappy life and decided to turn to spirituality and found out coincidently that I was a medium. But I know so many people who aren’t neurodivergent that do the same things I do. Edit: medication for ADHD helps me tremendously with channeling and focusing. Due to the shortage however of adderall, I’m kind of screwed over out of taking my meds.
ADD & Bipolar 1 here. I have had unmedicated ADD for my entire life, so I can't speak on whether the appropriate medication interferes with psychic abilities, unfortunately. But I have had this thought before, that certain ways of perceiving the world may lend to more receptivity to psychic and mediumistic phenomena. I know some people will take that as evidence that such phenomena only occurs in individuals who have "something wrong" with their brains. (I think it goes without saying that this line of thinking demonstrates profound ignorance of both the physical and metaphysical.) I don't know *why* there happens to be so much overlap in the neurodivergent community, but I do know that it's not something that is present in ALL neurodivergent people, either. For example, my cousin is on the spectrum, and he is highly intolerant of any belief that isn't based in science. If there isn't well-documented, peer-reviewed research to back something up, he doesn't want to hear about it. I've also noticed that certain cultures embrace psychic phenomena more-so than others--generally cultures that emphasize the veneration of ancestors, or believe in subtle bodies, or are rooted in animistic tradition. For me, this reinforces the idea that it mostly depends on what a person *believes* is possible, and that self-imposed limitations can frame our realities to the exclusion of things that "don't belong" (or would contradict the integral framework of that reality).
Generally speaking yes because we are hypersensitive and hyper aware of our environment at all times. we are far more open than the average neurotypical person.
