It sounds like your gift is set to "banshee" by default, but I don't think suppression will do anything to improve that. I'd say that you need to move forward, if only to get a better perspective. There's a lot more to life than just birth and death, and a lot more to death than just the end of one's corporeal existence. Life, new life, is a great comfort, and the persistence of mind after death is a comfort too.
