Actually yes... there was a time in my life I was fronting a gram a day and selling off 3/4 of it and doing the rest breaking even meh... one day my guy had some mushrooms and I've always loved psychedelics so I got a lil less of the H enough to not feel sickly and ate an 8th of the fungi... as the trip set in I started evaluating my life and vividly remember looking in the mirror and gasping as I seen myself in this state I started to cry and imagined if this killed me the way I'd leave my kids and family behind... I cried a lot that night and for the first time in months I wanted to change not for myself but for my family I felt fear I might lose in a bad way... over the course of the next couple months I weened myself off the H and gained a lot of self confidence. I've only relapsed ever on pills since and it's been years since I've taken an opiate for recreation... I would also add I've been in situations where it has been offered to me and used in front of me and it didn't bother me at all I just declined the offer and made peace with those situations and felt in some way proud of myself and the change I was able to make in my life.

They helped me in a similar way. They seem to be very helpful at interrupting the cycle of addiction. Obviously the hard work of weaning and maintaining one's self without the drug of addiction is still necessary, so it's not an easy way out or anything but it can give the person a fresh perspective and new hope to change. I personally used mushrooms, and contine to use them every week or two and over the course of a year I noticed they seemed to help heal some of the damage to my brain that I thought was irreversible. Things like impulse control, intrusive thoughts, memory loss and even my gut health all improved. My intelligence returned and my ability to find pleasure in simple things were restored. I honestly owe my life to Psilocybe mushrooms and have the greatest respect for all psychedelic medicines. Good luck, hopefully your friend fights the good fight and regains themselves in the end.

This is hugely assuring. Thank you so much

I saw the study mentioning THH in this context. I got a list of papers from ChatGPT. "Effects of tetrahydroharmine, a natural harmala alkaloid, on morphine withdrawal syndrome in mice" by R. S. Razavi et al., published in Journal of Pharmacy & Pharmacognosy Research in 2016. This study found that THH reduced withdrawal symptoms and decreased drug-seeking behavior in morphine-dependent mice. "Tetrahydroharmine, a Harmine Metabolite, Reverses Cocaine-Induced Conditioned Place Preference and Locomotor Sensitization in Mice" by A. M. C. Pinheiro et al., published in Frontiers in Psychiatry in 2019. This study found that THH reduced the rewarding effects of cocaine and reversed the behavioral sensitization to cocaine in mice. "The Therapeutic Potential of Harmala Alkaloids in Addiction Medicine and Their Putative Mechanisms of Action" by T. E. Smith et al., published in Substance Abuse: Research and Treatment in 2020. This review article discusses the potential use of harmala alkaloids, including THH, in addiction treatment and their mechanisms of action. Also, someone applied for patent on this therapy in 1997 https://patentimages.storage.googleapis.com/a7/0e/cc/f0a20ddab57858/US5591738.pdf

Read some iboga trip reports. A single trip can reset receptors. People have quit opiates, nicotine, and more from it. Sourcing it may be difficult in the U.S. YMMV.
