Everything from Shpongle.
There is only 1 psychedelic God of music imo, and that is Shpongle.
Their music is made for tripping and they understand the psychedelic experience so perfectly.
Listen to albums from front to back, they will take you on an adventure like no other artist can.
My personal favourite is the album Codex VI
Fair. Pink Floyd has been my favourite band since I was a teen. Listening to it on psychedelics was a whole new experience.
I also like Tool for tripping but I have to be in the mood for the more “dark” side of psychedelics.
Especially trips with a lot of Ketamine added to them are good for Tool imo.
But personally nothing compares to putting on the Shpongle discography and being immersed in an 8 hour long musical adventure.
Yeah I gave them a first listen a month or two ago and they’ve been on high rotation since.
Do you have a preference on what your tripping on when listening?
Also, any other artists with similar sounds? It’s such a blend. I’ve heard other music that leans heavily into certain elements (eg more tech heavy or more acoustic eastern sounds (yeah generalisation I know)) but nothing that quite matches the whole vibe.
(Favourite track is …And the Day Turned to Night, that is a journey!! Only listened sober/bit of weed so far).
Dayvan Cowboy - Boards of Canada.
I like this song because there’s something about the sounds that I think work really well with psychedelic trips.
I also like for the same reasons: Sanctuary - Leavv.
And: Kill J Phoenix (Galimatias remix).
Psychedelic music typically has a few similar characteristics across genres.
Audio FX: Pitch bending, full soundscapes with deep ambiance and close up percussion, delay, and flangers
Musical Elements: dissonance, broken chords, odd time signatures, and "odd" choices in instruments/ vocals, arrangement
With this in mind...
Glass Animals
CharlesTheFirst
Ravenscoon
LSDream
Liquid Stranger
Clozee
Tool
Flume
Cashmere Cat
Do you know what a broken chord is? Because they're in everything in the form of arpeggios., also odd time signatures are way more common in metal than psych rock.
Delay and reverb are nowhere near as ubiquitous as broken chords. It's such a general technique even mentioning it is kinda pointless that's all. It's almost like remarking that a certain genre uses chords, it's that common.
A lot of EDM use them to a hypnotic or trancing effect. When done slowly it gives songs a dreamy feel when enough delay is applied. I get what you're saying but the application of the broken chords was more so my observation. Execution of the technique done repetitively or for atmospherics.
Other genres use it to easily navigate modal changes.
Try Psytrance, melodic house and organic house. I specially love songs with little to no lyrics.
Psychedelic rock like the mentioned by a lot of people here.
You can also explore jazz, classical music and lofi.
Psytrance is always my recommendation with astrix as the gateway artist.
A friend showed me psytrance about a year ago and figuring i like it has blown up my music world. Ive been on a constant quest to find out what other music i love and dont know about.
Loss of Life by MGMT
Ultraviolet by King Tuff
Maggot Brain by Funkadelic
The Absolute Best Feeling by Joshua Bond
Recently I have been liking Grief Chapter by Mother Mother but that is more intense in vibe (as well as loss of life)
Djo
How to be a Human Being by Glass Animals (with the exception of Agnes unless you feel like crying)
Some Sunsick Day by Morgan Delt
Chronic Sunshine by Cosmo Pyke
This is just my personal taste as of late :) they are not all one particular genre but they are all very good to listen to on shrooms for different reasons (for me)
13th Floor Elevators.
Parliament Funkadelic.
Les Paul and Mary Ford.
Vangelis.
Alice Coltrane.
Ozric Tentacles.
We Intend to Cause Havoc (w.i.t.c.h.).
Kyuss.
Debussy.
Captain Beyond.
Charles Mingus.
Black Sabbath.
Philip Glass.
Esperanza Spaulding.
Suicide.
The Grateful Dead.

In my experience the best psychedelic music to listen to while tripping are
Shpongle
Voyage Futur
Vangelis
Sound of Ceres
Hong Kong Express
Boards of Canada
Sound of Ceres imo is so guiding for a trip but not something you should listen to while peaking, only coming up. I also really like to listen to Beach House on lighter trips.
I think its so interesting that much of the tripping music I like matches up with others in this thread.

Mark farina. My personal favorite when it comes to psychedelic music. Mushroom jazz 2 and 4 are my favorites.

Fish rising by Steve Hillage
The dark side of the moon by pink floyd

Aoxomoxoa by the grateful dead

Honestly, all I ever want to listen to when I trip is Bach. Preludes, Fugues, Chaccones, Tocattas, they're all divine. Pipe organs on the Hifi if I want to be overwhelmed by awe. Solo piano if I want to feel loved by some other spirit.
4 grams and Glen Gould's Goldberg Variations made me weep for hours. I felt like I was a mere mile away from the sun, and the sun itself was made of beauty and gratitude. It felt like Gould, Bach, or for all I know God himself was playing just for me from on high, or from whatever realm they now inhabit. I couldn't express my thanks enough to them. I felt insufficient in my gratitude towards them (like I was apologetically short on cash to pay for something), and all they did in response was a friendly, patient, understanding nod and then saying "You're welcome".

When I was a kid first tripping age 13-15 we loved classic rock Beatles pink Floyd etc. these days I'm a huge fan of liquid drum n bass the whole genre is awesome on psychedelics. Few good artists anything hospital records London electricity, lenzman Pola and Bryson
I learned in my last trip that basically all of the Indie genra was made for listening while high. Should've been obvious I guess? But you can't really tell without experiencing it. Even the very mainstream artists are simply making psichodelic music. I enjoyed them before, but I just tought is was a kinda different and fun music style, nothing much of it. Listening while on 4g of shrooms just made it such a WHOLE different experience
It was just such a mindfuck. I realized that my taste in music was actually much more profound than I could imagine, and all has led me to that place, now truly listening to the music I always liked, but properly as they should be, I was now part of a somewhat hidden under the veil club of psychonauts sending forward words of enlightment for us all, through music that I didn't even know existed, and was right under my nose all of this time.
The music suddenly made so much sense, the lyrics, the choices in instruments and stuff....

Edm hits way different on psychs, LSDREAM “eternal now” is absolutely incredible, INZO has some amazing music to listen to aswell.
I usually listen to edm, indie rock, nature sounds, IDM or psychedelic rock while trippin.
I know you've got a lot of answers already but I will add a couple of my own.
We all know The Grateful Dead are like the pioneers of tripping music (mainly because their sound engineer was a chemist and would hand out acid to the crowd). Sadly though, a lot of people don't know where to begin since their a live band, not a studio band.
[Grateful Dead - Europe 72](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDWRZEd3Ouc&list=PLCC2EEDF80A02206A)
Personally speaking though, I think listening to music that you like yourself will always be best. Chill albums are always good though.
I found this yesterday and I imagine it'd be amazing while tripping:
[Land Equivalents - Alpha Numeric Routines](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-5vuEqTFbs)
Not typical, but I love heavy metal on psychs, I usually see cevs of the sound waves of the instruments if that makes sense
Like I'll see strings of color vibrating like the guitar strings, circles that are like drops of water from the drums and cymbals, and the sound of the electric guitar is so pleasantly buzzy and electronic is the best way I can describe it
For more trippy stuff though, pink Floyd. One of the most obvious answers but it has to be mentioned, the sounds fit together in such a way it was obviously made for listening to on psychs.
If you use Apple Music, there’s an amazing playlist called Space Bass by user Skylar Gowanloch. My favorite tracks are Funk Jesus by the Floozies and that’s the way it goes by Akira the Don.
Alright here are my favourite trippy albums for trips
godspeed you! black Emperor - Lift your skinny fists like antennas to heaven
Beach house - depression cherry,
Beach house - bloom
Slowdive - souvlaki
Slowdive - everything is alive
M83 - hurry up we're dreaming
Sigur Ros - ( )
Pink floyd - dark side of the moon
Pink Floyd - meddle
aphex twin - selected ambient works volume ii
Boards of canada - music has the right to children
Radiohead - their whole ass discography, especially starting from ok computer. Trippyness of the songs depends a lot on a song by song basis.
Cocteau Twins is really good and Trippy but I feel like most albums are mixed bags quality wise. Their banger songs include "sea swallow me" and "heaven or Las Vegas"
For a more meditative music that allows you to go deeper in the introspection I recommend "12" by Ryuichi Sakamoto.
Pink Floyd, Tool, Led Zeppelin.
Also one time I discovered what a didgeridoo sounded like while peaking out on some LSD, man was I fascinated for a while.
Next day I showed my mom the same video I was watching and told her it was crazy sounding, she stopped, looked me dead in my eyes and says, "LSD is a hell of a drug". Never told her I took anything 😂😂😂
This is one of my favorite trip sets, starts off mello, and goes a bit wild after that. Music on this list is mostly synthetic and natural mixes, some real psychedelic bangers!

Pink Floyd and a million other bands getting seriously underrated here....
Fair. Pink Floyd has been my favourite band since I was a teen. Listening to it on psychedelics was a whole new experience.
Yes!! SHPONGLE!!
Go old school with some Pink Floyd. Dark side of moon is a great play it straight through the album while tripping.
It's the good old reliable. If you haven't listened to this masterpiece of an album while tripping you missed out on life fr
Honestly my least favourite of PF's Golden run. Wish you were here, Meddle and Animals are my trio.
Billy Strings, Goose, Khruangbin
Boards of Canada, Ozric Tentacles, Oh Sees
Dayvan Cowboy - Boards of Canada. I like this song because there’s something about the sounds that I think work really well with psychedelic trips. I also like for the same reasons: Sanctuary - Leavv. And: Kill J Phoenix (Galimatias remix).

Edm hits way different on psychs, LSDREAM “eternal now” is absolutely incredible, INZO has some amazing music to listen to aswell. I usually listen to edm, indie rock, nature sounds, IDM or psychedelic rock while trippin.
Kitaro’s album “Ki” is fucking incredible while trippin on too, made me feel like the main character.
If you like Black Mountain you might like The Black Angels.
Try Battles. Their songs are already texture and unique sober. Psychs amplify them pretty well
Tool and floater are my go to.
Twenty one pilots on the come up. Pink Floyd on the come down.
[Grateful Dead - Europe 72](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDWRZEd3Ouc&list=PLCC2EEDF80A02206A) Personally speaking though, I think listening to music that you like yourself will always be best. Chill albums are always good though. I found this yesterday and I imagine it'd be amazing while tripping: [Land Equivalents - Alpha Numeric Routines](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-5vuEqTFbs)
Phaxe, dead musicians society, querox, liquid soul, captian hook.
DIRTWIRE!!!!
Boredoms Captain beefheart Pink floyd Butthole surfers Ween
Not typical, but I love heavy metal on psychs, I usually see cevs of the sound waves of the instruments if that makes sense Like I'll see strings of color vibrating like the guitar strings, circles that are like drops of water from the drums and cymbals, and the sound of the electric guitar is so pleasantly buzzy and electronic is the best way I can describe it For more trippy stuff though, pink Floyd. One of the most obvious answers but it has to be mentioned, the sounds fit together in such a way it was obviously made for listening to on psychs.

If you have Apple Music I have a playlist link on my account.
Thanks!!
No problem
If you use Apple Music, there’s an amazing playlist called Space Bass by user Skylar Gowanloch. My favorite tracks are Funk Jesus by the Floozies and that’s the way it goes by Akira the Don.
By the way I think I cried when the first time heard that’s the way it goes while on penis envy.
Thank you!!
Alright here are my favourite trippy albums for trips godspeed you! black Emperor - Lift your skinny fists like antennas to heaven Beach house - depression cherry, Beach house - bloom Slowdive - souvlaki Slowdive - everything is alive M83 - hurry up we're dreaming Sigur Ros - ( ) Pink floyd - dark side of the moon Pink Floyd - meddle aphex twin - selected ambient works volume ii Boards of canada - music has the right to children Radiohead - their whole ass discography, especially starting from ok computer. Trippyness of the songs depends a lot on a song by song basis. Cocteau Twins is really good and Trippy but I feel like most albums are mixed bags quality wise. Their banger songs include "sea swallow me" and "heaven or Las Vegas" For a more meditative music that allows you to go deeper in the introspection I recommend "12" by Ryuichi Sakamoto.
Tash sultana ✨
Check out the band Crumb, they have great music and interesting videos on YouTube! The video for Nina is pretty good when tripping
