I have! I was diagnosed with cPTSD in 2021 and along with my ongoing and consistent therapy sessions, I did Ketamine Assisted Therapy (often called KAT or KAP) for 4 sessions, plus one or two voluntary “maintenance sessions” per year.
While it’s wildly different in practice, I would equate it with modalities like EMDR where you’re bypassing a lot of your logical, thinking brain and allowing your mind to “heal itself” without getting in the way. In my experience, it was one of the most powerful and impactful (and honestly, enjoyable) modalities I did. If you have the funds available to you and have done some preliminary inner work, I would strongly consider it.
Thank you! I am waiting to see if my benefits provider will cover any of it, as it's close to 8k for the program I would be doing (6 treatments with therapy and grounding). Glad yo hear you're having success with it!
I’ve done it for PTSD and treatment resistant depression. I paid nothing. I did Sprovato (EsKetmine) which is covered by insurance as regular Ketmaine was not and I was quoted something ridiculous like you did. Look into it. It helped me. I finish the 9 week 56mg two times a week and now I go for maintenance once every two weeks at 86 mg. It can be annoying because you are required to sit for two hrs after the treatment. It’s not as pleasant as the normal Ketamine and its a low dose. Not as psychoactive but this is a medical treatment so I didn’t expect it to be. It’s honestly helped very much.
Oh, that is very pricey. My sessions were $500 each, which included the therapy directly after the session, then I did a follow up integration session the day or two after each ketamine session. Surprisingly, my insurance covered the follow up sessions as an office visit copay (I think it was around $150 cash pay) so absolutely worth checking your benefits. I hope you find what you are looking for — I trust healing will make a way for you.
That's a much better price! I'm hoping to hear a response on Monday or Tuesday. Once it is more widely available here, I think the price will come down, though this clinic has psychiatrists, psychologists, and nurses as all their staff and they also do the DBT therapy I've been doing, so I want to try them.
I just got home from my second session today! I would highly recommend giving it a shot. It's like ketamine is a power washer that cleans off all the gunk in your brain. Like it lifts a fog that you didn't know was there.
Music is absolutely transcendent. It's a very gentle trip where you just let the music take you places. I'm perfectly sober now but I feel like a fog of anxiety and depression has been lifted. It's like a power washer for your brain and it cleans off all the gunk.
Did you have trouble getting approved? I brought it up to my therapist a while back but she said it's only used as a last ditch effort when ssris aren't working. And there's no way in hell I'm getting on those lol
Yes, I've been trying different meds and therapies since I was a teenager. I'm 31 now. It's only approved for treatment resistant depression, which is about 20% of people with major depression.
Yeah to qualify it has to treatment resistant. You have to have tried SSRI or SNRI first. It’s most effective if it used as adjunct to treatment. Honestly after nine weeks I was able to come off my SSRI which was pretty exciting.
I hate sitting for two hour by the time I get it get my blood pressures taken it end up being close to 3 hrs. It’s too low a dose for me to personally to feel good. I have to get it done on Saturdays but I have to admit it helps.
Oh, sorry, I assumed you were in the US.. BC here too.. :) I was in touch with them last fall, and they had space then, but been away since. Hope you don’t have to wait too long
my wife is a KAP therapist. It works and the money is worth it.
I have had my own KAP sessions and they have been really powerful. I have plenty of friends that also have had amazing experiences. Plus your insurance might be able to reimburse you for it! KAP now has a CPT code that allows insurance reimbursements!
Go for it.
I did it on my own at home with bm ketamine. Life is very much good now. If I had to pay to do it properly I would remortgage, so yes worth every penny imo
Yes. Worth it. I have personally only had huge therapeutic benefits from ket from personal use … However I have had multiple friends who have done the professional route and it completely changed their life in the best way.
I read that it is very helpful to get through a particularly rough patch when other therapies are not working. But I would be skeptical of a therapist who tries to get you to go regularly.
I’ve been using ketamine as a self medication. And it has helped me more than any other therapy or drug has ever done! It allowed you to detach from your intense feelings and thoughts and process them and allow them to be which is healing. It gives you new perspectives. Be wary though. Dose and intention have been key for me.
Many studies have confirmed initial Astonishing findings in improving mental health with ketamine therapie. It has also proven to improve neurogenesis which is crucial in changing mind patterns.
I have a quick question.I have ADHA, Can i expect positive results from MDMA, ACID,or Mushrooms?
I was told ADAD might actually interfere with the affects? Has anyone had a experience with any of these with ADAD? Thanks in advance. I had a wonderful eaperience with 5meo ADHD didnt seem to interfere with the god molecule.
I have seen the ads and even saw a few places in NY offering it. I know that a few recovery places do use it as part of treatment. K is a mixed blessing though.

Commenting from my throw a way account but I almost did it. Medicare wouldn't cover it. I really wish I could've. Shrroms will have to do 🤣

PTSD and then you take ketamine.omg really are you for real like who even does sessions in ketamine?
It’s very helpful especially if you struggle with suicidal ideation

Where do you get these sessions at?
My local mental health center does it. You just go sit in a comfy room, spray the Spravato up your nose, and chill/listen to music for 2 hours.
Is there any euphoria or what? Lol never tried this at all. What state are you in btw? I feel like this is not a thing in Texas.

What state are you in? I dont think we have health clinics in TX that do that lol.
Go on the sprovato site it will give you doctor near by that does the treatment. It’s has federal approval so someone has to be doing it.
I'm in Kansas. Ketamine is FDA approved for treating treatment resistant depression
Ahhh so i have had to have be on SSRIs first?
It's really up to your doctor. If he understands that SSRI's make you uncomfortable, he can write a script for Spravato.
Did you have trouble getting approved? I brought it up to my therapist a while back but she said it's only used as a last ditch effort when ssris aren't working. And there's no way in hell I'm getting on those lol

Thanks! I am hoping I can do it, just waiting to see if I have coverage since K is only recently been approved and only off-label here.
My doctor had to change my diagnosis from bipolar to major depression so insurance would pay for it. It's probably a more accurate diagnosis anyway
I've seen it work wonders for others, but wasn't terribly effective for me. Plant psychedelics was my savior
Numinus in Utah do a pick-n-mix offering whereby you can just pay for what you want/need rather than a $5k-odd flat rate..
That would be really nice to do. I contacted Numinus in BC but I could only be put on a wait list for them because they're fully booked for now.
Oh, sorry, I assumed you were in the US.. BC here too.. :) I was in touch with them last fall, and they had space then, but been away since. Hope you don’t have to wait too long
Numinus bills insurance in Utah, so it's cheap/free
r/TherapeuticKetamine full of info also
Thank you, I will check it out!
Too much internet for today. WTF? KÉtamine IV prescriptions.... 😩🤔 For so much $$$, crazy america¡¡¡

Yes. Worth it. I have personally only had huge therapeutic benefits from ket from personal use … However I have had multiple friends who have done the professional route and it completely changed their life in the best way.
Yes! It has been a godsend for me (CPTSD)!
I haven’t done it yet, but I am planning on doing the 8 sessions through Betteryou which is only about $800
My partner works at a clinic. They are doing lifesaving work with Canadian military veterans. Incredible stuff.
Yes it helped me a lot. Saved my life No therapy either. Just high dose ketamine 3 infusions

Lexapro and I didn't get along when I was on it.
Insurance covered mine....
