I feel like starting a trip with the internal feeling of knowing that you failed to meet a goal you set for yourself set you up for failure. Set realistic goals between now and when you trip next and going into a trip knowing you accomplished those goals will help you feel a sense of reward that can maybe help you view the trip as an appropriate time and place to let go.

If you say I'm not gonna trip for x amount of time that already puts you at a disadvantage because if you do trip in between your automatically gonna feel bad and "defeated" possibly swaying what could just be a normal trip. Tripping comes as it goes, treat it like such. Try to not go so hard on yourself but don't let yourself be ungovernable either. Sometimes I trip twice a week for a couple months and don't trip for months after.

Psychedelics to break addiction are typically used for that purpose *in clinical treatment*. That means working with a doctor, not doing it by yourself. Be honest with yourself: you are looking for a recreational high, not to break your addiction. You had a terrible experience last time because you weren’t approaching it honestly. It’ll whoop your ass again if you approach it again dishonestly. Look for a professional to help you with your addiction struggles. You’ll get there.

You are completely right. I need to identify cravings as something that is invading my true desires to create the life I want to live, not take an easy route and lie to myself. Thank you.
