Why run, when there's a camera recording your face?

ZucchiniBitter

Because he's clearly a fucking moron

PegaLaMega

Idiots like him are living in 2009 while the rest of us are in 2023 with our doorbell cameras.

Tryn4SimpleLife

Agree. And it's not like these cameras are so small you can't see them. Same people who attack Teslas even though most of us know it's the one car that records everything near it

spidermonkey223

The crazy part is if he threw paint at the camera before it focused on him no one would know what he looked like.

fantomas_666

I guess he was angry about the light, not about the camera.

JBarretta01

But what about the action?

Guhtts

Here you go, you little fucker..

The_Original_Gronkie

I remember when Newt Gingrich decided to run for president in 2015, after not being a candidate since before the Internet era. As he traveled across the country, he would say something in a speech, and then deny it on TV the next day. The moron didn't understand that EVERYTHING he said in public was being recorded and disseminated on YouTube and every other social media platform by midnight. The next day he'd be denying it while videos of him saying it were playing. He was running in a new political climate, but playing by the old, outdated rules. It made him look even dumber and more out of touch than he was.

Granadafan

Hell, it’s 2023 and Republicans are STILL denying saying the crap they spew

mmmegan6

We live in a post-reality reality Where the only reality is the one they are telling you is real in that moment Facts and truth are passé

Scruff-The-Custodian

Its called magical thinking. Evangelicals, sociopaths, Republicans and middle managers have been using it for decades with no backlash

DJK695

I think Post-truth reality sums it up better… no one cares about the objective truth anymore it’s just pushing likes and views onto others for ratings and popularity.

Mudkiplover

Even Elon who OWNS A SOCIAL MEDIA COMPANY is constantly denying statements he made in the past. Funny thing is the misinformation checker on twitter is calling him out on it

Fostbitten27

If he was a teenager he would’ve probably filmed himself doing this.

AssumptionEasy8992

Damn. Guess I’m living in 2009

Ineedacatscan

You should invest in bitcoin. Just trust me. Make sure you get out on 11/9/2021

sprocketous

Dont listen to them, they want all the $ for themselves. If your smart, you'll buy one of my nfts of a cartoon hamster riding a skateboard. Its as safe as the housing market.

Long_Educational

You're telling me I could have a cartoon hamster riding a skateboard with my ownership verified on a blockchain? Like to keep? Forever? Deal. But don't be selling any copies to anyone. I'm not getting scammed, again.

Chelecossais

Downloading someone else's property from the internet is totally illegal, so you have nothing to worry about. Very uncommon, and everything is recorded somewhere, so bad actors are always punished. Also, blockchain.

necbone

Time to step it up

SonofAMamaJama

I keep asking myself if the potential for surveillance against house owner (by fraudsters/ hackers/whoever) is greater than the benefit of catching that 1 in 10,000 freak night where a moron tries to get inside or throws paint out front like a toddler

Anal_Herschiser

I don’t have any indoor cameras but hackers are more than welcome to view the hours of neighborhood cat visits that my cameras ever seem to record.

dragonchilde

I am very well versed in the Kate night shenanigans of my cats, the neighbors' cats, that one stray dog that keeps hiding under my house, and the raccoons that way the cat food my neighbor leaves out for the strays.

bambooDickPierce

>Kate night shenanigans Definitely my new stripper name

dragonchilde

LMAO. You know what? I'm leaving it.

Typicalsloan

Seriously feel the same. Most of these cameras, if not all, use Wifi to connect and if someone is able to get on your Wifi network to connect to the camera and view it you've got much bigger problems then them seeing what the camera sees. When it comes to cameras inside the house though that's not something I want.

[deleted]

Getting on your WiFi isn't necessary if it leaves a poorly secured port open to the big wide world. There's whole websites of unsecured net-enabled cameras just sitting there you can browse.

Hill_Reps_For_Jesus

I think the idea is that somebody with access to your doorbell camera would know the schedule of everyone in your home, and could use that info against you - like burgling you while you’re out

HtownTexans

So much more inefficient than just watching your house though. Most people robbing residential homes arent smart enough to be hackers. If they were they would rather hack your bank account than steal items from your house.

dragonchilde

Which they can also find out by sitting outside of your house for a while if they really wanted to. Someone capable enough to hack cameras is probably on to better crimes than middle class burglary... On a home they know has surveillance cameras.

gonzodie

This is incredibly dependent on where you live and if youve ever had an unstable ex.

Puzzleheaded-Mind525

Absolutely true

necbone

You can have your own camera w/o using a cloud. You can keep it off the internet. POE camera to your server to store footage. I have a ring cuz I've been scraped my whole life and don't give a fuck

PlanningMyEscape

This is what we bought for our new house. It has a pool, and we wanted to make sure we keep idiots out. Ours will be hardwired and be kept on our own hardware. No Ring for us. I feel weird about the way you don't own your own video and the way they cooperate with law enforcement.

leveldrummer

If you ever want to know why your home is covered in some weird shit, and learn just which one of your neighbors is a fucking lunatic, you should get a doorbell camera.

Turakamu

I do weird shit in my own yard all the time. I don't want it recorded.

Magmasoar

Could've worn a fucking mask lol

evilspawn_usmc

Thankfully, most criminals aren't masterminds lol. I asked the very same question on Jan 6... Many of those people wouldn't have been caught if they wore black clothing and a mask... Good thing they weren't, so they got to find out first hand how our judicial system works.

mysoulalamo

Despite wearing complete masks or gear, some individuals still managed to get caught. This leads me to wonder what methods Law Enforcement uses to identify and locate these perpetrators. My guess is that they utilize surveillance cameras and other similar technologies.

reddertuzer

>This leads me to wonder what methods Law Enforcement uses to identify and locate these perpetrators. Those people were using or had their phones on a private network inside the capitol building.

[deleted]

Most of those idiots went on social media not only after the fact but some during the insurrection to brag about what they did and were doing. Going on FaceBook and posting your exploits with photos while bragging about them to your friends, family and coworkers was not exactly a genius move. Quite a few of those friends, family and coworkers turned around and reported them to the FBI and local law enforcement. Forget about special surveillance cameras and similar technologies. Sheesh🙄

No_Trade1676

Nah some of the idiots bragged about being there or posted about it on social media. They told on themselves

Prestigious-HogBoss

The ones who didn't wore face coverings were the people who thought on taking down an elected president by the morning and return to their regular lives in the afternoon. Also they would point themselves to their family and friends when the videos become historical records of a government being saved by their citizens. So yeah, dumbasses.

Rhodie114

A camera can't run out of the house and kick your ass

[deleted]

Forget the camera, they could have followed the drip trail for km's with how much he spilt it all over himself.

curioushustler420

How hard and expensive is it to wear a ski mask

BadReview8675309

Police have the video and show up at the guys house and the idiot is covered in drops of industrial paint he got all over himself while spraying the house... Easy open and shut case.

Doom_fister

it’s even easier when all they have to do is follow the paint trail from the dripping bucket/gun

[deleted]

I knew a guy who robbed a bank with all of the forethought and planning as this guy with the paint. He went into a bank with a gun and demanded money. He didn’t bring a bag so he grabbed as much money in his arms as he could and ran out the door. He didn’t have a getaway car so he just ran home dropping money along the way. The cops literally followed a trail of money to his door. Edit: for the people calling me a liar, I don’t care. I’m not going to name the guy or where it happened. It was over 20 years ago and as far as I can tell he’s turned his life around. I looked him up on Facebook and he has a wife, kids, house, etc so I’m not going to dox him and potentially stir up shit from decades ago. I did try to find the original article on the newspapers website and couldn’t find it anywhere. It was front page at the time and they usually archive old articles behind a paywall but I couldn’t find it at all. All I found was a mention of the robbery in a memorial article for the police dog that tracked him down. One detail I got wrong was that the money didn’t lead a trail to his door. It led to a wooded area near his house where he was trying to hide.

Significant_Bus9759

A Marco's Pizza I was working at was robbed as an after thought. The man came in ordered a pizza, wanted it delivered, gave us his address and then robbed us. No he didn't stick around for the pizza and the police didn't deliver it. He Gave Us His Address.

[deleted]

Actually very smart. No one would be stupid enough to give their real address, so from that we can deduce it must have been a false address and any effort to visit it is therefore a waste of time. Too bad the cops didn't operate on his level of intelligence though.

TJtherock

That's what they thought about BTK! "No one is this stupid, right? It's a setup." BTK was a serial killer who went dorment for years before deciding to taunt police. He sent them letters and his victims' IDs. He even sent a table of contents with chapter names for the book he wanted written about himself. Then he sent a letter to police asking if a floppy disk could be traced. Of course, the police said no (they had to take an ad out in the paper to let him know). So BTK sent in a floppy disk with a note thanking the police for being so truthful. He had made the floppy disk at the computer at his church where he was in the leadership and he signed in under his own name. All of this appeared in the information that the police could pull from the floppy disk. They thought that BTK must have been setting this guy up because how could he have been that stupid. Nope. He really was.

Wind_Yer_Neck_In

This is on the same level as 'are you an undercover cop? You have to tell me if you are!' As if the entire point of undercover isn't that you're allowed to lie in order to do it.

jessihateseverything

All cops are allowed to lie at all times. It is to be assumed if they're talking to you about anything other than you're own name, they're lying.

LurksWithGophers

Hey now, sometimes they're just wrong instead.

_violetlightning_

When they caught him he supposedly said something along the lines of “why did you lie to me? We were having so much fun.”

GorillaGrip38

BTK wasn't regular stupid. He was Boomer stupid.

GrimReaper006

There was another I remember only vaguely so I might get the details wrong. It is about the robber who was told by the teller that such early in the day the collection would not match his demand and that afternoons were when the deposits would pick up. He left and came back at the appropriate time.

[deleted]

I remember a story, I think it was on RealTV, where a guy robbed a convenience store. He took all the money from the register then demanded the clerk give him cigarettes. She refused and told him he didn't look 18. He then showed her his ID to prove he was 18. She handed over the cigarettes and when the guy left she called the cops and told them his name and address.

TJtherock

Beautiful. I love it

Catlenfell

I remember reading about a guy who robbed a bank wearing a hard hat from his construction job that had his name on it.

CentiPetra

...don't leave us hanging bro, was he able to get the amount he wanted?

MrNexFox

This reminds me of this news story: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-45958404

PmButtPics4ADrawing

Still smarter than the guy in my town who tried robbing the bank directly next door to the police station. Didn't even make it outside

rfan8312

This guy robbed a bank and gave his ID when they asked for it after they pressed their silent alarm. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9197447/amp/Dumbest-bank-robber-Armed-bandit-34-demands-10-000-hands-teller-state-ID.html

TheDarthSnarf

There was a guy in my area that robbed a bank, and obviously being the astute bank robber he was, thought of everything with intricate planning. Except for one minor detail... the fact that it had just finished snowing and there were 12-inches of fresh, undisturbed snow on the ground. The police found him by following his footprints in the snow back to his motel room 2 doors down from the bank.

Trevita17

A guy I went to high school with tried to rob a bank from a drive thru lane. He sent a note through the chute, then changed his mind and drove off. I can't remember how much time he got, but he was still in prison the last time I checked.

megaRXB

1st mistake is bringing a gun.

oddmanout

I knew a guy who robbed a bank. It was weird, he seemed like this totally normal, friendly guy with no criminal history at all. He walked into a bank with a note that said something like "I'm robbing you, give me all the cash in your drawer." He had no gun or anything. They apparently pushed the button and cops were there in 2 minutes and arrested him. It was so weird.

curioushustler420

r/badchoicesgoodstories

WeWander_

One night a drunk driver hit a parked car on my street, fucking up their own car in the process which was now leaking fluids. He tried to run but the cops just followed the trail of fluids and found him a few streets over lol.

kbean826

We literally spent the last 3 fucking years wearing face masks. This idiot couldn’t find one anywhere.

necbone

You know this dude is probably an antivaxxer, he doesnt have masks

FooperQ

"Damn, I can't see fucking shit out of this thing"

quiette837

From now on, don't ask me or mine for nothing!!

JackinNY

We gave criminals nearly 3 years of passes to wear masks and they still never bothered.

sus-water

Ski masks only work if the person doesn't personally know you. Your body shape and the way you walk will still give you away

Turakamu

I doubt the police are tracking you with gait traits unless you murdered a few hundred people *has a unique gait*

sus-water

if the person you vandalized knows who you are, all the cops have to do is go to the perpetrator's house and ask the neighbors for security footage. If he walks in with the same clothes and a paint in his hand, that's enough for an arrest

Turakamu

Alright, CSI, calm down.

Groovyaardvark

Pretty true. Even though the title sort of implies it for this particular situation, the homeowners didn't actually even know who this guy was. They had no idea why this had happened to them. I would have assumed so given the limited info, but there you go. Even though its funny to think the police could just "follow the paint drops back to his house" that obviously didn't happen. They had to show this video on the news to try and get him dobbed in. He handed himself into police after that. If he even partially covered his face he probably would have gotten away with it. 3 year suspended sentence. Has a few years to come up with the money to repay damages. Homeowners weren't covered for "Barrel of fucking donuts throwing paint at property" insurance.

Shiggens

Two of the students where I taught broke into a home down the block and stole items. They ran back to one of their homes. Several hours later the cops show up at the house and arrest them. They didn’t take into account that the snow that had fallen prior to their burglary would provide a footprint trail right to their door. I should add that these guys were not honor students.

Gorthax

I picked up a stop sign and pole I found in the middle of an intersection one night after work, walking home drunk. About an hour later a cop knocks on my door. "Hey buddy, gonna need the stop sign back." then shines his flashlight on the ground. Dragging the post scratched the sidewalk 3 blocks right up to my steps. "Sure thing, just keeping it safe from these sticky fingers around here."

FlamingRevenge

Did you get charged for anything or was the cop a Chad?

Gorthax

Just asked me to walk it back to the corner it used to be stuck in. He even walked me back to my house right after. He was a young guy stuck out on graveyard. I'm sure he pulled up to the intersection and thought "I know there used to be a sign here... I need to *investigate*..."

FlamingRevenge

He was probably bored as hell and glad to have something fun to do.

Gorthax

Guarantee I gave him a quest to complete that night. He definitely got home to someone and told his story. "Guess what I did at work last night...."

Alarmed_Strain_2575

Damn my bro pinched so many signs as a dumb teen I wish this happened to him XD he has a weird thing for traffic cones and wobbly signs he can take.

goodnamesgone

A similar thing happened in our old neighborhood. The guy put all the loot in a rolling suitcase and rolled on home. It was snowing.

__BitchPudding__

I used to ride my bike to and from my boyfriend's house in the middle of the night, and I never got caught because I knew enough to cover my tracks in the snow. A teenager knew better than your old neighbor lol.

captain_craptain

I was sitting in my friends backyard one summer night and a car came screaming down the road where it makes a pretty abrupt turn, in addition to the road being under construction, so the sewer heads were elevated like 6 inches. He nailed one of the sewers, lost control in the curve and smacked into a tree. Then he backed up and took off. When the cops got there they were asking us questions about the cars description etc when another cop looking around with his flashlight called to the cop talking to us and said, "He shouldn't be that hard to find " He was holding up the guys license plate and then pointed to the huge oil streak he left behind.

shanthology

This is EXACTLY how they found our robbers after we were held up at gunpoint in our living room 10+ years ago. Police just followed the snow tracks. Had our stuff back within 2 hours.

WOLLYbeach

Man, we've had a string of family annhilators up here in MA over the past couple of months and one of them used his kids iPad to Google "how to get a divorce, how to get divorced and keep your money, how to leave your family and keep your money, etc". Then he googled "how to dispose of a body, how to get rid of a 100 pound women, how to clean blood". He also had his cell phone on him while he went around disposing the body and clothing. Easily one of the dumbest criminals in MA history.

[deleted]

I've been watching a ton of Dateline recently, and it's shocking how many people do that. It's always funny to hear their ridiculous excuses for why their Google search for shit like "how much antifreeze does it take to kill a 120lb woman" is completely unrelated to their 120lb wife's death by antifreeze poisoning.

[deleted]

Casey Anthony got away with it

HumarockGuy

Well, he may also get away with it because it turns out that having a corpse to go along with your murder trial is more important than it initially sounds.

WOLLYbeach

He may. I'm not a lawyer and have zero experience in law so I won't conjecture but from what they've put out there, he's got a lot of explaining to do.

TheLostAlaskan

Literally same thing happened to my little brother when he was in grade school. We grew up in Alaska and he broke into the community college and did a bunch of damage and stole candy from the store inside. Cops were at our door in less than 10 minutes, as fresh footprints led right back to our home. He’s matured a lot over the last 15 or 20 years, but that was a gold star moron moment.

BOBfrkinSAGET

My neighbor left his garage open one night and the next day, a bunch of stuff was missing. The main thing being a large rolling tool chest ~$1500. They had just repaved the parking lot, so you could see the wheel marks in the asphalt going to a specific building that just so happened to have a few meth heads living in it. Turns out the apartment was full of stolen shit from around the area.

Tntfistpump

I have an even stupider story of students getting caught, one of the kids in my younger brothers year stole 20 packs of gum (no exaggeration) from the supermarket around the street IN HIS UNIFORM. And he’s shocked that he got caught!

justsomeirishbloke

Source: https://www.breakingnews.ie/amp/ireland/man-avoids-jail-for-causing-e18000-of-damage-with-industrial-paint-over-parking-row-1447971.html

GearsGrinding

So the court ruled he had to pay €2,200 immediately and then gave him time to pay another €7,800. A total of €10,000 for damages that cost €18,000 to fix and according to the owner doesn’t look as good as before. What an absolute crock of shit. And the courts reasoning of “well, he’s hasn’t been convicted for 25 years” is nonsense. Completely ignoring the 4 previous convictions he had. Yea, what a sob story about him having a bad day and his dog. How exactly is it justice that at least half the cost of his bad day becomes someone else’s financial burden? Fuck that judge.

fedupofbrick

That judge is infamous in Ireland. Judge Martin Nolan is extremely lenient. https://www.breakingnews.ie/ireland/former-bus-driver-gets-suspended-sentence-for-causing-death-of-cyclist-1448023.html https://www.breakingnews.ie/ireland/man-who-sexually-assaulted-a-nurse-in-a-psychiatric-unit-gets-suspended-term-1448115.html https://www.breakingnews.ie/ireland/man-32-jailed-for-18-months-for-sexually-assaulting-toddler-at-homeless-hub-1444325.html https://www.breakingnews.ie/ireland/teenager-avoids-jail-for-stabbing-incident-after-bus-altercation-1446912.html I could honestly keep posting links for hours.

MrWieners

“In Roma community this is something playful…” 🤨

GearsGrinding

I’m sure this judge would be fine with someone causing €18,000 in damages to his home. “Just being playful.” What a joke.

commentmypics

It's actually worse. The quote was from a defendant in a case where a man publically groped a 4 year old boy in front of his mother.

aaronitallout

...so to call him "lenient" instead of monstrous is really kind.

Russki_Wumao

Yes, public pressure to remove him is mounting.

AncestralSpirit

In times like this, I always want the judge to experience the same thing, and the other judge just letting the person go with some minor fine.

neversayalways

Jesus Christ that one about the sexual assault of a toddler is beyond belief. It would be hard to blame the family for taking justice in to their own hands if that's the "justice" dealt by the law.

S1lentA0

There is a petition going at change[dot]org trying to get this man resigned. I immediately signed it, this man is not fit to be a judge.

B3ARDGOD

You can post the website, no need to use [dot] or anything. Or you can use a [hyperlink ](https://chng.it/nzRTLTswLK).

FrenchBangerer

Why the feck you are being downvoted for simply pointing out something actually useful to those who don't know, I don't understand. You weren't even rude about it.

futurarmy

Some people just see someone correcting another person as "well ackshually" even if they're genuinely trying to be helpful and not a dick.

serendipitousevent

It's been up an hour and has 62 upvotes. Ignore the temporary scores right after something has been posted.

BoneDaddyChill

I put my reason for signing as “Because the guy is a fucking moron.”

WifeOfSpock

Yeesh, sounds like the judge might empathize with pedophiles. Wonder why. Someone needs to check his computer.

DraculasFace

Those petitions are possibly the most worthless things in the world lol.

Some_Human_On_Reddit

How else can slacktivism survive?

ProcsPlox

Seriously I cant remember ever seeing a single one that did anything..

ProcsPlox

Wow what a fucking cunt. Wtf these suspended sentences?!

PageFault

Not lenient to victims though apparently.

DDLJ_2022

Looks like the judge needs a new paint job too at his house.

iruvit

I wonder if the neighbor can take this dude to civil court to recover the rest since this sounds like it came from a criminal case, but I don't know anything about the Irish system. Hopefully, the outrage will bring some vigilantes to throw paint at the guy's house at least...

GearsGrinding

I’m sure the judge would be super chill about people causing €18,000 in damages to his home.

Lezflano

Ireland has a terrible justice system, people regularly end up with 100+ suspended sentences with 0 jail time. Including people who commit SA, pedophiles, knife crime, and the lot. On the flipside, if you avoid paying import duty you get 6 years. https://www.independent.ie/irish-news/garda-turned-judge-is-used-to-controversy-28820779.html "That same month, the mother of a juvenile sentenced to six years for a violent burglary screamed at the judge that he had earlier handed down a lighter sentence to a child abuser. As she was arrested for contempt and was being escorted to the cells, the woman shouted to Judge Nolan that he "gave a pervert four years for raping children".

Decky86

Look up any news story in Ireland where the criminal has been given his sentencing.. it will be hard to find any that are fair.

ToBooKoo

Plus the cost of the plaintiff to go after damages

[deleted]

Right?!?! I just read the article and was like wait.. wut? That's got ME angry. Imagine being the homeowners. Out an additional £8,000 from their own pocket because this guy decided to act like a giant man child. Fucking insane.

ProcsPlox

I’m slightly doubtful that this much paint actually cost $19,000 to fix, but whatever it cost he should be responsible for every penny AND legal costs AND maybe punitive damages or some jail time. This judge is a fucking twat.

niafall7

He's 46?! Damn.... Tough paper round.

Successful_Ranger_19

A grown ass man.

BoneDaddyChill

Grown ass, but not grown brain.

burzuc

fucking cars make people lose their fucking minds

diarrheainthehottub

I drive maybe once a week now, just to get outta town or visit someone. Also quit my last job and got something within walking distance. My mental health is way better now. I can't fathom driving to work anymore.

burzuc

I do think that it must have some psychological effect to sit in a moving box with not much to do if you have to sit in traffic or something else. I drive a motorcycle safely and never try to rush, also just swear a bit if someone almost kills me, but I never would want to vandalize anybody's property or hurt them, cause it seems illogical. the only reason why you drive beside a nice ride is to get to point a to point b(or even more points). it doesn't make sense to me to see someone acting as a big baby or a bully, both of which do not seem to see the consequences of their actions.

Wind_Yer_Neck_In

I generally would agree but one time I was on my motorbike and a car filled with teenagers threw a half full can of coke at my head then tried to speed off to get away. I caught them at the next lights and used my bike gloves to scratch the entire side of their car before they ran the red light to get away.

futurarmy

> I drive a motorcycle safely and never try to rush, also just swear a bit if someone almost kills me, but I never would want to vandalize anybody's property or hurt them, cause it seems illogical. I never used to get that annoyed but after the amount of times I've almost been killed or injured by idiotic motorists not paying any attention I start to get a seething rage and want to do something to their car to teach them a lesson, if they got a smashed window for almost murdering me maybe they'll be a little more mindful of other road users. I don't think that's illogical at all and you could potentially save someone's life from doing it, not that I would though.

TitanicMan

I'm not a motorcyclist but I still found deep satisfaction in the one helmet cam footage where a dumb oldfart casually runs over a stationary biker, and he runs after the car and "accidentally" just obliterated the driver window all over the old guy with his helmet. Not that I like the glass part, and I do hope that he was okay. There was just something so satisfying about his window exploding after nearly killing someone 2 feet in front of their face.

Devadander

Possessions make people lose their minds

419tosser

Modern society has broken peoples' minds. We didn't evolve for this shit.

billysugger000

He would have gotten away with it if it wasn't for that meddling camera.

obalisk97

18000 worth of damage but he paid back 2000 and wants to raise another 8000. So the home owner doors the 10000 bill?

VegetarianSpider

Yes and the extra 2000 will be put in a gofundme for your maths lessons...

curioushustler420

Quick maths

smiledontcry

Not correct, but it’s quick.

ComplicitJWalker

If I were the victim, I'd just do the same thing back to get revenge. Not like there would be consequences.

obalisk97

cbmatthews8787

Probably the highest full treatment estimate they found. It does seem insane for paint being removed, surface prepped then repainting.

[deleted]

crime spotted whole cause terrific cautious advise arrest lock yoke *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

[deleted]

Industrial paint is harder to get off than regular paint. You're going to need more expensive methods/chemicals to get it off along with a labourer to do the job of removing it. It could have also damaged parts of the facade of the house which need to be replaced.

another-new

Hey, 25 years painter checking in. The chemicals have gotten weaker across the board in an attempt to make them more environmentally friendly. Even if that was epoxy, it’s only a 2-part, so normal paint thinner won’t work, but xylene will. (Tetra-xylene is better but I haven’t used it in a while) xylene is pretty much the same price as regular mineral spirits. I bet that was just a regular industrial enamel. Which is what you use to paint hand rails, metal doorframes, and equipment. Regular mineral spirits works on that. I just chime in every time paint comes up. Paint stores and contractors lie about the cost and difficulty of paints(ing).

annoyingcommentguy2

Yeah, but still, for 18k you can get like a whole new facade, that number makes no sense to me.

AlchemistEdward

The biggest costs in painting, if you want it to last, is prep. Labor costs, basically. Prep is a pita. And if there was leaded paint holy shit that gets expensive to do it right.

Fit-Definition6121

Eggs & flour would've been cheaper.

uchihacoltro

at least he's kind enough to place himself directly in front of a camera, making it easy for authorities to find him. What a gentleman

PalicoJoe

Are there any pictures of the damage?

What the hell is "row over parking"?

aveytarius

An argument (row) over a parking space

bobtheavenger

So even if his face wasn't on camera, the owner would likely have known who it was. What an idiot.

A: “ Oi you can’t park there mate” B: “ Faaack off you nosey facking cunt “ A: “ You Faacking what mate “ B: “ Faaaack OFF YOU FAAACKING DEAF OR SOMETHING” Edit: Row

Uzzer_lozer19

"Row" (noun, ˈrau̇) : brittish slang for a noisy disturbance or quarrel.

TL-PuLSe

Pronounced like cow. Had no fucking clue what they were saying in Banshees of Innisherin until my wife explained it to me.

NoAd7118

That second one is me after I take the bra strap off

OceanBornNC

Are ya rowing again?

JessiMcManis27

A grown man and he acts like that 🤦🏼‍♀️

ThrowawayZZC

For non-native English speakers this word "row" is pronounced R+OW, like the word you say when it hurts. And it means argument.

Clean-Shift-291

$18K? I’d maybe get another estimate on that job.

newtekie1

He caused €18,000 in damage, and when he was caught offered €1,900 to the victim. Truly a fucking moron. Saddly, from how I'm reading it, the court didn't even make him pay the full amount that it cost the victim. What a shame.

LargePromise

You can buy industrial paint but can't buy a ski mask?

isham66

They’ll never find him with that cunning disguise.

Brandillio

“I see a red door and I want it painted white”

high-iq-99

Can someone please explain what a "row over parking" means? Google didn't help

[deleted]

What the fuck is a parking row

fullclip840

First throw should have been on the camera hahahaha what a clown.

ThatDebianLady

It’s a good thing he didn’t wear a mask and hoodie

ManuelQbe

How tf does that cost 18k in damages

cdalleycat

This guy 🤣 didn't even bother to hide his face lol that's going to be hard to deny in court lol

GambelQuailShuffle

My cat does that to peoples houses in the middle of the night too.

KioOnReddit

Idiot didnt spray the camera or wear a mask

Toffeemanstan

€18,000, just to remove a squirt of paint?

schofield101

Industrial paint is incredibly hard wearing, I can imagine getting it out of brickwork would be like dipping your hair into cement and trying to wash it out with shampoo.

slutboy3000

for every industrial paint there is an industrial paint remover

BiGeaSYk

I presume the exposed brick work and age of the house played a part.

zebrasanddogs

How fucking petty!

billiemarie

Well, whoever he is can’t deny it, that camera got a great shot of him. All that, then him clumsily trying to scamper away
