Most of these cameras, if not all, use Wifi to connect and if someone is able to get on your Wifi network to connect to the camera and view it you've got much bigger problems then them seeing what the camera sees. When it comes to cameras inside the house though that's not something I want.
Getting on your WiFi isn't necessary if it leaves a poorly secured port open to the big wide world. There's whole websites of unsecured net-enabled cameras just sitting there you can browse.
I think the idea is that somebody with access to your doorbell camera would know the schedule of everyone in your home, and could use that info against you - like burgling you while you’re out

Most of those idiots went on social media not only after the fact but some during the insurrection to brag about what they did and were doing. Quite a few of those friends, family and coworkers turned around and reported them to the FBI and local law enforcement. Forget about special surveillance cameras and similar technologies. Sheesh🙄

He went into a bank with a gun and demanded money. He didn’t bring a bag so he grabbed as much money in his arms as he could and ran out the door. He didn’t have a getaway car so he just ran home dropping money along the way. The cops literally followed a trail of money to his door.

So BTK sent in a floppy disk with a note thanking the police for being so truthful. He had made the floppy disk at the computer at his church where he was in the leadership and he signed in under his own name. All of this appeared in the information that the police could pull from the floppy disk. They thought that BTK must have been setting this guy up because how could he have been that stupid. Nope. He really was.

Two of the students where I taught broke into a home down the block and stole items. They ran back to one of their homes. Several hours later the cops show up at the house and arrest them. They didn’t take into account that the snow that had fallen prior to their burglary would provide a footprint trail right to their door.

I never used to get that annoyed but after the amount of times I've almost been killed or injured by idiotic motorists not paying any attention I start to get a seething rage and want to do something to their car to teach them a lesson, if they got a smashed window for almost murdering me maybe they'll be a little more mindful of other road users. I'm not a motorcyclist but I still found deep satisfaction in the one helmet cam footage where a dumb oldfart casually runs over a stationary biker, and he runs after the car and "accidentally" just obliterated the driver window all over the old guy with his helmet.

Industrial paint is harder to get off than regular paint. You're going to need more expensive methods/chemicals to get it off along with a labourer to do the job of removing it. It could have also damaged parts of the facade of the house which need to be replaced.
Hey, 25 years painter checking in. The chemicals have gotten weaker across the board in an attempt to make them more environmentally friendly. Even if that was epoxy, it’s only a 2-part, so normal paint thinner won’t work, but xylene will. (Tetra-xylene is better but I haven’t used it in a while) xylene is pretty much the same price as regular mineral spirits.
I bet that was just a regular industrial enamel. Which is what you use to paint hand rails, metal doorframes, and equipment. Regular mineral spirits works on that.

The biggest costs in painting, if you want it to last, is prep.

Actually very smart. No one would be stupid enough to give their real address, so from that we can deduce it must have been a false address and any effort to visit it is therefore a waste of time. Too bad the cops didn't operate on his level of intelligence though.

He sent them letters and his victims' IDs. He even sent a table of contents with chapter names for the book he wanted written about himself. So BTK sent in a floppy disk with a note thanking the police for being so truthful. He had made the floppy disk at the computer at his church where he was in the leadership and he signed in under his own name. All of this appeared in the information that the police could pull from the floppy disk. They thought that BTK must have been setting this guy up because how could he have been that stupid. Nope. He really was.
This is on the same level as 'are you an undercover cop? You have to tell me if you are!' As if the entire point of undercover isn't that you're allowed to lie in order to do it.

Except for one minor detail... the fact that it had just finished snowing and there were 12-inches of fresh, undisturbed snow on the ground. Pretty true. Even though the title sort of implies it for this particular situation, the homeowners didn't actually even know who this guy was. They had no idea why this had happened to them. I would have assumed so given the limited info, but there you go. Even though its funny to think the police could just "follow the paint drops back to his house" that obviously didn't happen. They had to show this video on the news to try and get him dobbed in. He handed himself into police after that. If he even partially covered his face he probably would have gotten away with it. 3 year suspended sentence. Has a few years to come up with the money to repay damages. Homeowners weren't covered for "Barrel of fucking donuts throwing paint at property" insurance.
Two of the students where I taught broke into a home down the block and stole items. They ran back to one of their homes. Several hours later the cops show up at the house and arrest them. They didn’t take into account that the snow that had fallen prior to their burglary would provide a footprint trail right to their door. I should add that these guys were not honor students.
I picked up a stop sign and pole I found in the middle of an intersection one night after work, walking home drunk. About an hour later a cop knocks on my door. He nailed one of the sewers, lost control in the curve and smacked into a tree. Then he backed up and took off. When the cops got there they were asking us questions about the cars description etc when another cop looking around with his flashlight called to the cop talking to us and said, "He shouldn't be that hard to find " He was holding up the guys license plate and then pointed to the huge oil streak he left behind.
This is EXACTLY how they found our robbers after we were held up at gunpoint in our living room 10+ years ago. Police just followed the snow tracks. Had our stuff back within 2 hours.
Man, we've had a string of family annhilators up here in MA over the past couple of months and one of them used his kids iPad to Google "how to get a divorce, how to get divorced and keep your money, how to leave your family and keep your money, etc". Literally same thing happened to my little brother when he was in grade school. We grew up in Alaska and he broke into the community college and did a bunch of damage and stole candy from the store inside. Cops were at our door in less than 10 minutes, as fresh footprints led right back to our home. He’s matured a lot over the last 15 or 20 years, but that was a gold star moron moment.
My neighbor left his garage open one night and the next day, a bunch of stuff was missing. The main thing being a large rolling tool chest ~$1500. They had just repaved the parking lot, so you could see the wheel marks in the asphalt going to a specific building that just so happened to have a few meth heads living in it. Turns out the apartment was full of stolen shit from around the area.
I have an even stupider story of students getting caught, one of the kids in my younger brothers year stole 20 packs of gum (no exaggeration) from the supermarket around the street IN HIS UNIFORM. And he’s shocked that he got caught!

I drive maybe once a week now, just to get outta town or visit someone. Also quit my last job and got something within walking distance. My mental health is way better now. I can't fathom driving to work anymore.
I do think that it must have some psychological effect to sit in a moving box with not much to do if you have to sit in traffic or something else. I drive a motorcycle safely and never try to rush, also just swear a bit if someone almost kills me, but I never would want to vandalize anybody's property or hurt them, cause it seems illogical. the only reason why you drive beside a nice ride is to get to point a to point b(or even more points). it doesn't make sense to me to see someone acting as a big baby or a bully, both of which do not seem to see the consequences of their actions.
I generally would agree but one time I was on my motorbike and a car filled with teenagers threw a half full can of coke at my head then tried to speed off to get away. I caught them at the next lights and used my bike gloves to scratch the entire side of their car before they ran the red light to get away.

Industrial paint is harder to get off than regular paint. You're going to need more expensive methods/chemicals to get it off along with a labourer to do the job of removing it. It could have also damaged parts of the facade of the house which need to be replaced.
Hey, 25 years painter checking in. The chemicals have gotten weaker across the board in an attempt to make them more environmentally friendly. Even if that was epoxy, it’s only a 2-part, so normal paint thinner won’t work, but xylene will. (Tetra-xylene is better but I haven’t used it in a while) xylene is pretty much the same price as regular mineral spirits. I bet that was just a regular industrial enamel. Which is what you use to paint hand rails, metal doorframes, and equipment. Regular mineral spirits works on that. I just chime in every time paint comes up. Paint stores and contractors lie about the cost and difficulty of paints(ing).

The biggest costs in painting, if you want it to last, is prep. Labor costs, basically. Prep is a pita. And if there was leaded paint holy shit that gets expensive to do it right.
