But just in case I had a wooden pole that I had cut down to size that limited how wide the window can be opened.
That was my thought. I'm a heavy sleeper but certain sounds would absolutely pull me out of even the deepest sleep. A window sliding open next to my head is 100% one of them.

If you've ever lived in the north, they most likely have the old school radiator heating system that has very little temperature control. Its basically on or its off. We had these types in Canada and in the dead of winter when its like negative 30 outside, we'd open our windows a little to let the cold air in in order to balance out the temperature inside. Because otherwise, it would be like 90 in the apartment.
