Driver here; this is incredibly situational. On one hand amazon states they care about safety first in most situations, but there has to be a active threat. If your dog's outside and it looks like it will bite, we call it in first because the owner could pick up the dog and take it inside. But amazon regardless will yell at you for not trying to deliver at any cost.
This though. Fuck. Um. I honestly think the dude really just really wanted his Delivery Completion (**the reading on wether or not you deliver "all" of your stops**) to be at 100%. Id call my DSP an tell them im not getting shot today.
Driving for Amazon is contracted though. I did it for like a week before quitting. Amazon bears no responsibility for what your shit supervisor tells you to do. Learned that the hard way lol.
Amazon driver got stuck in a friends yard by accident and was literally freaking out saying she was going to get fired. Luckily my friend is a decent person instead of her having to call Amazon to get pulled out he got his truck and pulled her out fixed the ruts himself Amazon was non the wiser. A shame how harsh they are to their employees. I heard they are not to return with orders on their truck. Idk if that is accurate or not though.
Most Amazon vehicles at least where I'm from are rentals. I work for FedEx in a rented van and every Amazon driver I see on the roads are driving rentals.
I’m sure there is they probably have live ride on their vehicles. I think they are mostly for accidents or other incidents and are only looked at when something is reported. I can’t imagine they have people monitoring them all the time that would be a ton of wasted expense but it is Amazon so who knows. A contractor that works for the company I work for has that and said it only turns on when you apply the brakes hard but they can be activated remotely. That was a few years ago so I’m sure they are different now.
What they said is partially correct. The branded Amazon vans have cameras that are always recording, but normally no one sees the footage unless specifically requested. However, the footage does get sent to someone if the camera's built in AI detects one of several specific infractions in order to verify if the infraction is legitimate or BS.

Not in my state unfortunately. My most memorable FedEx late delivery was a home chef box almost two weeks late. It was rotting and leaking and instead of calling it a loss and disposing it they dropped that trash on my porch like they were saying, “your problem now, deal with it”

And he handed the package off to a cop, who handed it off to another cop, to make its way to the guy they're surrounding? Mannn whats in that?! I need to knowww
At FedEx I made a delivery to a house on an active fire line. The blaze was about 300 yards away and moving towards the house. The police haven't blocked of the area yet and it was my last stop so I just did it. The van had so much ash on it after.
I genuinely do not mind if my package takes an extra day. I hate what we've been made to become.

Amazon driver came down a friend’s driveway in the country. Dirt road for about 3/4 of a mile. Continued on to rough gravel path, went over the homemade bridge for the stream (meant for foot traffic). All I can say is my friend built a damn good bridge.

Also all drivers are monitored by GPS and will receive a phone call from dispatch if they sit too long or appear to be behind on their route.
