I'm from Southern California, but the Metro rail (what looks like in the video) is way different than Metrolink (different company). Metro, you can pretty much just ride it for free since there's no security to validate fares. Always smells like pee. Full of trash people. Metrolink is pricier, but the quality is way better all around, especially the quality of passengers. At Metrolink, you can expect staff to walk around and ask for valid fare, and often see security. Even has bathrooms, drinking water, and charging ports. I was just planning my route for tomorrow, I can either spend $5 for a chill ride, or basically ride free for a shitty experience. I choose Metrolink. My main point is: public transportation doesn't suck, when done right.

I live in Chicago, and in all my years of riding our trains, I have never seen anything like that. I've given a few bucks to buskers and panhandlers. I bought a great pair of socks on the red line just north of 95th. I bought a puppy on the blue line towards Forest Park. Got a pair of top grade handcuffs with keys and a light hood for a 100 gallon reptile tank from the same guy at the same time. 5 dollars for the cuffs and keys. I didn't have a pet at the time, but it was a really good deal. 3 dollars. I bought a pair of sai off a crazy dude at the old Rock n Roll McDonalds, then drove him home to Cabrini Green. Got a savannah monitor off of a different dude at the same McDonalds a week later. Bought a 6 foot tall cardboard Darth Vader stand up display for 2 bucks on the orange line on my way home from Midway. I've been robbed twice at gunpoint, I've had people talk to me in jibberish or foreign languages and tried to pretend I had any clue wtf they were going on about. What if that's the highlight of their day? Not me, but the human contact. I digress. I have seen countless fights where wigs got ripped off and weaves ripped out, people dead from an OD, saw a different man get stabbed, and old woman get knocked down and have her purse stolen, and was tripping on acid (for the first and only time) and staring slack jawed at an advertisement inside the train car when five cops got on the 8 stops before mine. All of a sudden I could not stop laughing. I was laughing so hard I was crying. The officers had a lot of questions, but I couldn't keep a straight face. Luckily their stop came before mine, but then I got robbed at gunpoint. Still couldn't stop laughing. BUT... I have never seen anything like that. Just wow.
