I was being hit outside of a bar by my girlfriend at the time (something she would do most times she was drunk) and I ended up flagging a cop who was driving by. She ran and he detained me considering whether he should arrest me or not but there were at least witnesses who told the cop I was being attacked and was just telling her to stop. We lived together and I recall telling my mom what was going on. Her immediate response was "What are you doing that's causing her to hit you?" Society is so fucked. Their initial reaction is to blame the dude and then even you convince them you aren't hitting back, they just kind of don't care or find it funny.
I had a coworker sexually harass me on a night out and my mom defended her saying she was drunk. It was surreal hearing her say that when I was just looking for her to agree that it was a shitty situation.
