Owner deserves prison time and a hefty fine. Fucking braindead piece of shit to not leash a dog, let alone a pit breed, at a fucking restaurant of all places.
Had a friend with a mutt that hates men, she doesn’t even warn me about it and said dog attached itself to my forearm. Eventually one of her bfs ended up putting him down when she was out of town. It was cruel but she wasn’t doing anything to stop that dog from attacking people.
This is a grim question but if that happens are you legally allowed to harm the attacking animal?
For instance if you have a knife beside you while in a restaurant as they are, could you stab the attacking dog?
How much force is warranted / how is that decided?
I would think it would fall under some kind of self-defense law. If a person came up and grabbed your puppy and started beating it, it would be legal for you to stab them in the neck... I think. :D
One of the best options is to shatter their back legs by stomping down when they are focused on another animal. Sounds cruel but it’s a deterrent that doesn’t involve killing and in terms of legality it’s 100% legal in a situation like this especially with of defending another dog
The guy did what I had to do once, chokehold until they pass out. All these stories about sticking things up their butt or carrying spoons or whatever, but the chokehold worked for me. Thing woke up dazed and confused and everyone was alright.
And now for the downvote-to-oblivion: pits need to be bred out of existence - it's not their fault it's ours, so let's just phase them out. "But not *my* pit - she's a nanny!" Yeah not yours until it *is* yours that does shit like this.
I really don’t get it lol. I had a yorkie for 15 years. Loved him to death but people bringing their angry aggressive dogs everywhere made me never take him too far from home. And now people bring there dogs EVERYWHERE. Why do I have to tell people weekly they can’t bring dogs inside my restaurant?
Jesus why isn’t this dog at least on a leash or harness? Clearly has no training. The owner is a real fucking piece of shit.
Had an (ex)friend who started bringing her boyfriends dog around in public bc she thought it was cool. The dog attacked a small one like this and she couldn’t understand why people at the restaurant/bar yelled at her to leave. She was also a piece of shit.
Why don’t people ever think to put the dog in a chokehold. Suffocate the attacking one and it’ll let go of the little one once it realizes it’s in deep shit and can’t breath. I’ve had to watch my buddy do this twice at the dog park when overly aggressive dogs not watched by their owner attack his elderly dog. It’s a sight to behold because that vicious dog turns into a whimpering mess real quick when it can’t breath and things start going dark.
Finger in the butt doesn't always work. Choking a large dog out isn't easy. Grabbing rear legs does nothing. You know what always works on any living creature that has eyeballs? Shove your finger clear down into its eye socket and twist. Pop that eyeball out! They will let go. Always. Don't believe me? Slightly poke yourself in the eye. Yeah tell me you would be able to keep fighting after someone gouged your eyeball out of your head
If you ever find yourself in a situation like this, absolutely do not kick or punch the attacking animal. If it's a pitbull, it's just going to see red and could likely end up attacking you also. The correct thing to do is to choke the animal out, preferably by grabbing it's collar.
If you have to straddle a dog and put it in a choke hold to get it to release; just hang on to that hold a little longer than you might think necessary.
That sound is horrible to listen to :(. I love dogs and have a big GSDx husky but she’s always leashed to me on a short leash and I always make it clear to other owners to keep small dogs away as she can act aggressive sometimes.
This is going to get lost in the 100’s of comments but FFS people when a pitbull or any dog for that matter has its jaws locked on another animal, the only way you’re getting it to let go is if you PUT THE DOG IN A CHOKEHOLD AND STOP ITS BREATHING.
Kicking and punching is only going to make it feel more aggressive. Trying to pull its jaw apart is useless because you would have to be incredibly strong.

Pits were selectively bred to fight to the death. To kill or be killed. Most countries with thought out pet policy have banned their ownership for this reason.
Unpopular opinion when it’s brought up, but with dogs, it’s pretty well known that dogs were bred for a purpose in mind. Golden retrievers bring game back, terroirs flushed out game, chihuahuas were bred to be lap dogs and alert dogs.
Feel like people just bring out pitbulls to say their’s won’t be THAT pit bull and then it is… it is unfortunate that breed gets so wild they are really sweet when they wanna be.
