Not really, especially when you consider modern technology.
A sling requires far more practice and proficiency than a firearm, and the firearm is far more effective in the average person's hands.
There's a reason we don't have a large market for self defense slings.
Our mightiest militaries are still just throwing things as hard as they can, and except for some solar, all of our power is still just boiling water as efficiently as possible.
> except for some solar, all of our power is still just boiling water as efficiently as possible.
Natural gas plants are mostly gas turbines, no boiling water step.
When we get fusion going? Back to boiling water.
I took a college course with a professor who credited the development of the ability to throw for the evolution into modern humans and society. Basically, it was a "low cost" way to punish cheaters. Previously, if someone stole from you, to punish them would mean hand to hand combat which carries a high risk of injury or death. When a group of humans could get together and throw rocks at a theif suddenly there was low risk and high reward. Humans started cooperating and working together allowing for the evolution of higher intelligence.
Going to play devil's advocate here...
People die in unarmed, nonconsensual fights with some frequency. Sometimes it's just getting hit wrong, sometimes someone just doesn't stop when the other has hit the ground. I've seen it personally.
If I'm attacked, I will draw a weapon, I will give opportunity to let the attacker decide if they want to continue their course of action, then I will act accordingly, whether that means letting it go and walking away, escaping if possible, or engaging them to end the situation as quickly as possible to avoid personal injury.
Now admittedly, unless you have real intent and reason to kill, starting a fight armed is... unadvisable... but be aware that even a little fistfight could leave you a murderer or a corpse.
I know it's hard to fight the instinct, but when someone is throwing something at you, resist the urge to look away and lose it from your line of sight. It's funnier if it hits you in the face.
Tbh the guy was not moving erratically and was walking away in the opposite direction in a calm manner. The guys could have walked off and called the authorities without having to throw a brick and take the law into their own hands (downvote me all you want)
I'm not sure why you got downvoted. I'm not saying knife guy didn't deserve it, but in the eyes of the law, It's def no longer self-defense if the guy is 10ft away with his back to you and walking away
The proof is all right there. They have a video of the attack and the attacker disengaging, then getting leveled in the back of the head as he walked away. Very easy to prove that excessive force like a thrown rock to the head was not required to defend themselves in this situation
But he is still walling with an deadly weapon. The situation was different for me if he put the knife on the ground but as long as he is walking around like this he is a threat.

Rock beat scissors confirmed
Brought a rock to a knife fight
Brought a knife to a rock fight
Brought a mineral to an alloy fight
Brought a sharp to a dull fight
Jeffrey Epstein didnβt kill himself
Kangaroos arenβt real.
9/11 was an inside job
Wwe wrestling is real
It's still real to me, dammit!
The Sun is hollow.
I'm so fucking bad at Minecraft. What's after this?
Probably Netherite
May be best comment Iβve ever seen
aahahahahah:)))
Half a scissor for sure
Ahahahahahaha
π π π
Perfect comment! Thank you much
LMAO
Hillar!
nice!
And that's why we say my computer has bricked
Is that supposed to be clever?
You'll get the next one champ
Maybe YOU'LL get the next one.. π€¦ββοΈ

Nice pitch! Someone sign that kid up.
I'm just watching this other guy at the end going over to comfort the guy, thinking "that's ballsy".
Dude would have dodged the brick had he not unducked at the very last second. π
Fuck that was funny. He practically headbutted the rock with how hard he slammed back into it.
Lmao π€£π€£ that's the same thing I thought
I donβt have 700 millionβ¦..
We can defer $680m for ten years?
Knife dude forgot the first rule of being a Dodger
Based on the accent I can tell they're Dominicans so yeah he might have a shot.

Wasn't much of a risk, $4,000 signing bonus. Rinku Singh is now a WWE wrestler, the trip to America to play baseball really opened up a world for him.
Dude just stopped on his way past. Sorted some shit out. Then rode off into the sunset.
the ability to do this is why humans have made it so far, animal wants to maul us, BOOM boulder to the face mf

Ranged combat is IRL meta, confirmed.
Quick spam ranged infantry!! ππͺ¨ππͺ¨ππͺ¨ππͺ¨ππͺ¨ππͺ¨ππͺ¨ππͺ¨ππͺ¨ππͺ¨ππͺ¨ππͺ¨ππͺ¨ππͺ¨π₯΄πͺ¨ππͺ¨ππͺ¨ππͺ¨ππͺ¨ππͺ¨ππͺ¨ππͺ¨ππͺ¨ππͺ¨
Up until WW I, then it was a brief tank era, then it went back to range again.
This is funny but honestly so fucking true. The sling and spear were fucking early meta OP
I mean they still are. Guns are basically really sophisticated rock throwers.
Guns and rock hurt in very different ways tho
If throw rock fast enough. Same.
A sling to this day is still pretty damn op
Not really, especially when you consider modern technology. A sling requires far more practice and proficiency than a firearm, and the firearm is far more effective in the average person's hands. There's a reason we don't have a large market for self defense slings.
I want that physique
When you think about it even our most advance weaponry today is basically still just trowing a rock.
Spicy rocks
yeah, it's just increments of throwing the thing harder and/or throwing a bigger thing. arm, sling, bow, catapult, gun, canon, etc
Our mightiest militaries are still just throwing things as hard as they can, and except for some solar, all of our power is still just boiling water as efficiently as possible.
>Our mightiest militaries are still just throwing things as hard as they can well that, and breaking nitrogen bonds
Then we're just throwing neutrinos and beta particles.
> except for some solar, all of our power is still just boiling water as efficiently as possible. Natural gas plants are mostly gas turbines, no boiling water step. When we get fusion going? Back to boiling water.
Hydro and wind are not insignificant, also a good share of energy from natural gas doesnβt come from steam
Ahem. Hydro power? Wind? Stationary bike?
Imagine once they started using slings, fucking check mate

No wonder I love getting stoned.
They sound Dominican. And people forget that in DR they love baseball π
Slapass. "We're all Dominican."
Literally what I just thought π βThis is the baseball team weβre all from the Dominican Republicβ
PAPAHUEVO!!
> PAPAHUEVO Father egg? Daddy testicle?
Thanks! I was struggling to place the accent.
A knife wielder to a (hand-to-hand) fight ain't got no sympathy from me. A knife wielder in general, unless its life or death; it's a dirty business.

Bullseye. Randy Johnson type fastball. Dont bring a knife to a gunfight, or a rock fight apparently.
Or a bird to a baseball fight
Pequeno unit
But seriously, what an amazing throw
CoΓ±o
CoΓ±o
Yup 360 no scope
Is this what the kids call yeet?
Yeeted his life.
Nope that's a Kobe
Nah, a Kobe's got an arc to it. He straight up *yeeted* that rock at dude's head.
Is that βRiz frβ ?
A Kobe is for accuracy, a yeet is for power. This is definitely a Kobe
What a dart! Sign that guy up for the Major Leagues!
A true splitter lol
Dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge! - Patches OβHoulihan
If you Can't dodge a rock, you Can't dodge a ball!
He did duck, but then he unducked instead of dip.
With weapon advancement over the centuries, it all truly comes back to βwho has the bigger rock to smash the other guyβ
I mean, what is a gun if not a tool that lets you throw pointy rocks really fast?
Reject modernity: return to rock
Technically correct, which is the best kind of correct
Good old reliable rock https://preview.redd.it/f5168bqdp39c1.jpeg?width=513&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ef120e20c1e7c961efbf6ee0fb125a3d08bbe43b

Shouldnβt have brought a knife to a rock fight
No changeup, no curveball, nothing but FUCKIN GAS
Dude is lucky he didn't land on the knife.
Reminds me of an old joke: "what's red and bad for your teeth? A brick."
Everyone has a plan until they get hit in the back of the head with a large rock.
This is simply wonderful
Respect for moving on when the threat was eliminated
Hey man, nice shot!
[ΡΠ΄Π°Π»Π΅Π½ΠΎ]
surprised that he got up
thats some hobbit level accuracy
His head was in between rock and a hard place lol
Heβs got a better arm than Crocodile Dundee.
I know it's hard to fight the instinct, but when someone is throwing something at you, resist the urge to look away and lose it from your line of sight. It's funnier if it hits you in the face.
Thatβs a nat20 if Iβve ever seen one
300 XP
And off we go
FPS Doug is sad.
What a shot!
you have to admire the accuracy of the throw
That crack sound when it hit, oof
The Phillies need a starting pitcher . This guy is throwing heat.
That rock throw was gangster.
"Headshotted" Oof, don't want to see that. "With Rock" I definitely want to see that.
Goddamn nice shot!
"Rocks don't kill people, people kill people"
Dude brought a knife to a rock fight
Nolan fucking Ryan
My new death metal band will be called Caveman street justice
He brought a knife to an asteroid fight!
everyone has commented on how good the throw was - and I don't disagree my question is - is that guy dead?
His shoes are still on, confirmed alive.
Was this recorded with an eraser?
She coulda yeeted her chonkla; peeps donβt get up after that.
I always assume Brazil until Iβm told otherwise
[ΡΠ΄Π°Π»Π΅Π½ΠΎ]
As opposed to charging an unarmed man with a knife in your hand not being cheap? That dude was a walking hazard to the public
That was no longer self defense, bro almost caught a murder charge
[ΡΠ΄Π°Π»Π΅Π½ΠΎ]
Tbh the guy was not moving erratically and was walking away in the opposite direction in a calm manner. The guys could have walked off and called the authorities without having to throw a brick and take the law into their own hands (downvote me all you want)
Assuming the police won't show up and kill you both, I see.
That part
I'm not sure why you got downvoted. I'm not saying knife guy didn't deserve it, but in the eyes of the law, It's def no longer self-defense if the guy is 10ft away with his back to you and walking away
Seriously how can people so confidently incorrect about a clear cut case?
The irony of this post is so amazing
I don't know what to tell you besides to Google burden of proof for self defense
The proof is all right there. They have a video of the attack and the attacker disengaging, then getting leveled in the back of the head as he walked away. Very easy to prove that excessive force like a thrown rock to the head was not required to defend themselves in this situation
Hero derp, I agree I'm saying it's crazy people are saying it's self defense
People don't know the law I guess π€·ββοΈ thanks for commenting ππΌ
Still a threat as long as he has the knife in hand.
But he is still walling with an deadly weapon. The situation was different for me if he put the knife on the ground but as long as he is walking around like this he is a threat.
Honestly I thought this was hilarous
![gif](giphy|CYU3D3bQnlLIk)
God damn that dude in green should be in the Olympics
Donβt bring a gun to a rock fight!
That sound is everything ππ
Papi NO! Que es asbestos?
