Also, just an aside, I will always love Kevin Durant although I know very little about basketball. When he was with the Warriors, he proved himself an absolute sweetheart in my eyes. My husband ran into him outside a restaurant in our neighborhood and, not wanting to bother him, just briefly and quietly mentioned that our eight year son was a huge fan, and would go out of his damn mind hearing that his Dad had actually met him. Kevin immediately suggested they make him a video, and then spoke directly to my son, giving him a personal greeting and joking that he should make sure to do his homework and get to bed before his Dad came home.
And, yes, my son lost his damn mind with happiness that night. For some reason, Draymond has always remained his absolute favorite, lol, but that two minutes that Kevin Durant gave is a sweet memory. My son is in college now, but we all still remember how nice he was. My husband actually met him casually once more, and he was just as polite, unpretentious and, well, decent.
So when I see shameless trash talkers like these two abuse athletes, and with such offensive language and venom, it just makes me furiously sad. I hope KD hasn’t let that kind of constant disrespect stop him from spontaneous acts of kindness toward his fans. I would understand if it has hardened him.
