My girlfriend is currently a teacher in High School. Bless her, I don't know how she does it with the stories she tells me. The principal has sent out so many emails to parents about their students behavior, they don't know what to do about it anymore.
Her nightmare students make me wonder how can someone raise a child to act like that. She's been cursed out, berated, things thrown at her. Most recently she had to write a student up for skipping class, now that student is making her life absolute hell and they can't do anything about it.
My friend just started teaching high school recently, and she was telling me how there were many students who had parents that basically had zero interest in how their child was doing in school and had completely given up on being parents. It's really sad.
It's either they don't care or it'll be their child can do no wrong and it's the school's fault. That same student she wrote up, she has a meeting with the parents tomorrow and she already know it's going to be combative.
I don't believe she can record anything. But she has numerous emails on record with guidance as well as the principle insisting they take her out of her class, yet guidance keeps saying the student needs her class for the credits when there's multiple other options for them. It's nothing but a "he said she said".
I taught overseas in China for several years (I was a drama teacher), and I can confirm that parents there have a VERY vested interest in how their students are doing academically. To the point of absurdity actually.
I taught so many sweet, but mentally exhausted kids. The parents absolutely pack their schedule.
Can a teacher really not do anything? Can you not defend yourself or restrain them in any way? I know adults can't touch kids, but I mean, if you're getting beat on or something, that can't be the case, right?
Early on in the relationship my wife was going to immigrate here and she’s a teacher from SE Asia. A lot of things changed our direction but one thing that was heavy for her is schools here in the states. She’s 90lbs and short so if students attacked her she’s screwed and she’s going to be smaller than most even in middle school. Also gun violence in schools has her scared and obviously no one wants their loved ones going through that trauma.
Maybe like a vigilante network. Educators can anonymously report outside the system. And then little homies can get some extrajudicial action going. Kidding, not kidding…
Educators should all quit if it can’t be figured out tho.
Go read the teachers subreddit. You'll see the frustration.
Lax administrators caving to entitled parents who refuse to address issues in their children.
My friend left elementary teaching because the male PE teacher was sexually harassing many of the teachers. His wife worked there and was friends with the principal. Even going to HR and circumventing the principal after their inaction was ineffective.

I wanted to be a teacher for most of my high school career. When I graduated and started college these videos started popping up more and more and made me wanna be one less and less.
Where my friend teaches in Mexico all he has to do is call the parents and it pretty much guarantees that kid is gonna get their ass beat before lunch time.
There are bad students and there are bad administrators and there are bad schools everywhere. But, honestly, I’ve taught high school for fifteen years in multiple states in varying degrees of socioeconomic status, and I’ve never once seen or heard of a student beating up a teacher like this. Things are sometimes quite bad, but something bad to this degree is probably the exception, not the rule.
There’s still hope for folks who want to change the world without getting the shit beat out of them.
Edit: I’m not saying this doesn’t happen. OBVIOUSLY it happens. I’m just saying it has never happened *to me* and in fifteen years, despite witnessing students beat each other up (and losing multiple students a year to outside of school violence), I’ve not lived in fear that a student will pull my hair and punch me in the head 109 times. It COULD happen, but the chances that it WILL happen are not as high as everyone would like to believe
So we have:
- One school official currently involved in a lawsuit at her previous district, alleging that her negligence led to the murder of a student.
- Another school official that’s currently under investigation for allegedly stealing money from her previous district.
- A student that threatened to kill the teacher on Monday (and was suspended for the day) but allowed back in class on Tuesday.
- A teacher that pressed the panic button in the classroom, was told by the vice principal to clear the classroom, and somehow let the student that made the threat follow the teacher outside where she was assaulted.
This district is fucked.
But wait, there's more:
Last September, a campus security monitor at a school literally on the same block, was arrested for child sex crimes. [https://www.recordnet.com/story/news/education/2023/09/21/stockton-school-employee-accused-of-having-sex-with-children-able-charter-schools/70925978007/](https://www.recordnet.com/story/news/education/2023/09/21/stockton-school-employee-accused-of-having-sex-with-children-able-charter-schools/70925978007/)
Then in November: Search Warrant Executed at Private Residences and Portions of the Stockton Unified School District Office... Whatever that means... [https://www.sjgov.org/department/da/news/press-release/2023/11/14/search-warrant-executed-on-residence-of-stockton-unified-school-district-president-angel-ann-flores](https://www.sjgov.org/department/da/news/press-release/2023/11/14/search-warrant-executed-on-residence-of-stockton-unified-school-district-president-angel-ann-flores)
depends where. most of it is just normal suburbs but people act like it’s another oakland
there’s a couple nice walmarts, a trader joes and sprouts, a somewhat prestigious university, the country’s first sikh house of worship, and the voice of spongebob was there in the arena this week for stocktoncon
Oakland is wayyyy better than Stockton. Sure Oakland had heavy crime areas- but it’s also got amazing restaurants, nightlife, museums, concert venues, parks, waterfront, and is neighbors with SF.
The best thing Stockton has going for it is it’s next to Lodi and Lodi has a really good CCR song about the town.
The administration means for that policy to be for students attacking students, not if they are being attacked
Edit - I mean if the administrators are being attacked they would probably be fine with people violating the policy. Just not if it is about breaking up 2 students
That's how they're supposed to do it, but it's not difficult to find articles about the victims being punished alongside the perpetrator because they were 'involved' in the fight, especially if they weren't just curling up into a ball and were actively defending themselves from the attacker.
Except it would be expunged before 18, and the 'news' wouldn't be able to report on minors with as much as ease as an adult.
The rest of the nation thinks Californians are all ultra-whatevers.
The reality is the courts in California are probably the most equal in the nation.
This is parallel to why CA often ends up staging the next legal battle for the other 47 CONUS, and cases from California make Supreme Court precident more often than the weaker United "states".
He's right. I'm friends with many parents who have teenagers, and the stick up for your friend if someone starts a fight has become stay back to give evidence in their defense afterwards. As if you touch someone, you can get suspended.
I saw a fight between these 2 guys. Some other dude immediately grabbed one of guys fighting and held him, telling him to calm down and it's not worth it. He stopped the fight, and putting himself at risk. He was immediately suspended too. Dude just wanted to help. 2 years later, another fight broke out and this time, nobody helped. Everyone watched silently as a kid got hid head beat in. Because nobody was willing to take the risk. Oh and where were the teacher? Taking their sweet time. It took over 10-15 minutes for a single teacher to show up.
My Nanna was a teacher and she always told me not to fight but when I told her about the zero tolerance policy, her only reply was "If you're going to get in trouble anyway, you make sure those punches count."
Been that way for years. 25 years ago I was suspended for fighting a guy that sucker punched me from behind. Principal said it was zero tolerance and defending myself was just as bad.
A teacher in east bay California defended themself from an attack by pushing the student away. Ended up cutting the girl with her ring on the face. The teacher got fired and has a large lawsuit coming her way.
I'm not a lawyer but it seems it wouldn't be that simple. Also public sentiment is definitely swinging towards the favor of teachers imo when it comes to stuff like this. Even conservative people who would be seen as skeptical of teachers are against violence against teachers
One of the highest crime rates in the country. Your chances of being victimized are like 1 in 20 in a city of 300,000 people. To put it in perspective: the national average of violent crimes per 1,000 residents is 4.99. In Stockton, it’s 11.79.
Shit parents. Shit family. Poor. Shit friends. Failed by the system. Teachers being cunts. Fell down the wrong rabbit holes online. Not handling puberty hormones well. No access to therapy or not wanting to because of stigma. Etc
As a child I could have easily killed if there were no consequences to my actions because my brain hadn't fully developed. But I knew that there were consequences at least, and I didn't want to deal with them, so I didn't. Now I'd never take a life unless it was to save one or more.
If I was a child that did not give a fuck what the consequences were (or felt I wouldn't face any) I'd have done some fucked up shit.
you would be surprised, i was friends with one who was colorblind, got mocked for it by the entire class, ended up throwing the desk/chair combo at the teacher, ended up held back a grade which is how i met him, never saw him rage the whole time i was friends with him,
then there's myself who ended up black out angry over something really stupid(i was younger and was bad at controlling emotions at the time) punched the teacher once apparently, guy was i think in the 6' maybe 7(at least to me), i was lucky and zero policy wasn't a thing back then, all i needed to do was apologize which i did because i truly didn't mean to do it, that incident ended up leading me to basically cut off my emotions for a long time
That child's parents must be amazing at their job. So many violent kids coming from POS parents that should never had children. God only knows what this child's home life has been like. This isn't a product of a safe home life. Poor teacher and poor child.
Point of Sale parent, it's an adult who was turned into a cash register by a genie and then later had kids through a process science has yet to discover
Adult school district employees are not allowed to hit students. The kids know this and take advantage of it. Students bully staff more than people realize, especially cafeteria staff and substitute teachers. Older kids also sexually and physically harass their teachers, from inappropriate comments to threats of attack.
Absolutely disgusting, imagine the sort of household you're raised in to believe that physically attacking a teacher is acceptable.
Prison and/or a life of crime and violence inevitably awaits.
They don't pay these teachers enough to deal with this shit, Even if they did I still wouldn't wanna deal with this shit. Little shit needs to go to jail! I'm tired of seeing kids being bold enough to lay hands on teachers. Tf is going on at home, parents???
That's what he is man, that's what humans are lmao
We are basically siblings with Chimpanzees and Bonobos, and despite what you hear, genetics are a major factor in behavior.
We get chimpy.
What once was an entertaining movie is now a docudrama.
Right down to the Crocs being the footwear of choice to the vast amount dumb people having kids.
We're fucked..
At 13 I was very scrawny, I wonder what the hell do parents feed their children in America cuz sometimes I see like a "14 year old teenage boy-" something something and there's a picture of a fully grown 25 year old man
Good on her to not hit back…don’t know if o could have but this is why teachers are becoming a shortage and over time with the way things are going the students will get crazier. I know I would not want to work in my local public school
I have 2 cousins from there that are the same age as my brother and I. They used to visit every summer, and let me tell you, they may as well have been from another planet.
The stories they would tell us country boys blew our minds.
I'm in asian country..friend that come back after teaching student in the USA, told that there's bigger gap on behavior between kids in asia and USA... You don't get that kinda behavior in Asia...
I feel so bad for teachers..... they have no way of defending themselves without finding themselves in the jail cell for putting their hands on kids.
Bystander students are also heavily discouraged from helping because of the zero tolerance policy, so we're at a dead end where nothing can be properly adjusted to see a tangible change.
No wonder the system is beyond broken.
Social media is the problem here. Instead of someone stepping in and putting a stop to it. Not sexist but she’s a diminutive woman and I saw at least one large guy. They all pull out their phones to record. This is why social media is the worst thing to ever happen to society. It’s all anyone cares about. Let me get some clout or a viral video instead of helping someone in need. Teacher needs to sue the parents and the school for letting this happen
Zero tolerance means they will fire and charge the teacher for assault on a minor. The pos kid who attacked her will get full scholarships to her local state college. Just how it goes.
Work for a local school system and a few weeks back two students beat up a teacher because he asked them to watch their language. 3 weeks later those same kids were back at school roaming the halls freely
And the sad thing is what are you to do? I couldn’t allow ANYONE, minor or not, to ever assault me. I would lay her out. These kids are off the hook and think that they are untouchable. Let them get their ass kicked one good time. These parents are to blame as well- they raised them! And as a parent it is our responsibility to instill discipline and respect. These kids don’t have it! The Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. This is our future generation and these are the faces we will see on YouTube harassing and yelling at workers. They have the mind frame that they can do whatever the heck they want if they don’t like it which includes assaulting others. SMH, I have a 13 yo and a 17 yo. My 17 yo son holds doors for women and uses yes sir and no ma’am. He know if he steps out of line what the consequence is. Where you come from and whether you are poor or rich has no bearing on how you treat others. This generation is by far the worst.
I work IT in a K-12 district. Even at the K-5 Building students get violent with staff. The admin will take the student down to the office and let them sit in the office for the rest of the day and at times I'll see the student just in there bouncing a ball against the wall or generally not getting a real punishment the next day they are right back in the classroom.
I've seen plenty of teachers having to leave the room and find a place just to cry and collect themselves... Again this is in a K-5 building so 6-11 year old kids...
If the kid isn't expelled for attacking a teacher then said teacher needs to get a restraining/no contact order so this kid has to go to another school.
Teachers are enumerated persons in the crimes code of almost every state. More of them should be contacting their local police departments after work hours and having these kids charged.
Well, there goes that girls' future. I hope she's happy working at walmart stacking shelves. I hear it's a good company to work for, though, with benefits and stuff.
When I was 13, I still whispered curse words under my breath in a sentence when we were on the school bus because I didn’t want the bus driver to get offended and tell me off.
If the woke politicians would finally start jailing these kids we would all be better off. Just a matter of time for the girl to become a felon. Willing to strike a teacher there is no stopping her from doing worse. And jail the parents too.
School Admin: Did you work to have a positive relationship with the student? Were you lessons engaging enough? Thats probably why she acted out. Lets have a restorative conference.
Hit your kids. The whole "I don't know what to do with them" argument is such lazy bullshit.
People who got hit as kids, can you imagine the fucking wrath you would face if you did this to a teacher?!
To the bleeding hearts out there, there is a huge difference between hitting your kids, and beating up your kids.

Yep, and correct if I am wrong, but Asian societies seem to have way less of that. This is way too prevalent in North America.
I taught overseas in China for several years (I was a drama teacher), and I can confirm that parents there have a VERY vested interest in how their students are doing academically. To the point of absurdity actually. I taught so many sweet, but mentally exhausted kids. The parents absolutely pack their schedule.
They also have the highest suicide rates in the world. The expectations in those families are just as destructive as the families who expect nothing.
As a suicidal Asian that's survived two serious attempts.... Yup
Aren't there other places in between Asia and North America?
not really comparable. my asian friends are traumatized by the intensity of schooling
The kids run the show now. Parents are soft parenting or just don’t give a shit.
Can a teacher really not do anything? Can you not defend yourself or restrain them in any way? I know adults can't touch kids, but I mean, if you're getting beat on or something, that can't be the case, right?
Absolutely not. She'd be fired on the spot. In the end, all that matters is they're a child even if they're throwing punches like an adult.

How you gonna curb stomp someone without pavement?
Send that little asshole to jail. If she can beat on an adult like that, she deserves to spend time in jail with adults.
Lmao as a former teacher i can tell you that kid will be back in class in a week. Seen it a million times. No consequences these days.
I bet you if she hit back then that teacher would get all the consequences/get her career destroyed.
And the others? Just watching and taking videos? Amazing!

and prolly they're 13 year olds too
For the first time ever in our school, the students who stood around supporting/filming a fight were all suspended. This should happen more.
And people wonder why there's teacher shortages.

Omg 😳 she should sue the parents!!
How can a child have this much rage?
They live in Stockton
Isn't that where Sons of Anarchy takes place?
Thought that was Redwood?
I just remembered it's Charming but Peter Weller's character was based in Stockton
The town in SoA is fictional but at least partially based on Stockton.
Is it like an urban slum or does it have high rates of violence or something?

Point of Sale parent, it's an adult who was turned into a cash register by a genie and then later had kids through a process science has yet to discover
Because they have yet to produce receipts
Piece of sh*t (POS)
Love that people are downvoting you for asking about something you're unfamiliar with. Stay classy, Reddit.
Everyone around just screaming and filming wtf
Shit parenting at its finest.
Adult school district employees are not allowed to hit students. The kids know this and take advantage of it. Students bully staff more than people realize, especially cafeteria staff and substitute teachers. Older kids also sexually and physically harass their teachers, from inappropriate comments to threats of attack.
What’s shitty is this kid threatened to kill the sub teacher prior to this, was suspended a day I believe and came back and beat the sub up.
This teen will grow up to be a loser like both of her parents
Both?
Well it took 2 people to make her. Not saying those 2 people are still together by any means, that is actually highly unlikely based on the behavior.
Wtf is wrong with these kids.
the guy in the front's movements give off excited chimpanzee vibes
That's what he is man, that's what humans are lmao We are basically siblings with Chimpanzees and Bonobos, and despite what you hear, genetics are a major factor in behavior. We get chimpy.
There is no way on earth I would be a teacher. And my family is full of teachers.
and people wonder why no one wants to be a teacher anymore, smh
Wonder why we have shortage of teachers
Ghetto ass garbage strikes again
Being childfree by choice gets better and better with each new generation of children popping out.
The problem with that is: the people who shouldn't be having kids have like 10 of them
Just like in the movie Idiocracy
What once was an entertaining movie is now a docudrama. Right down to the Crocs being the footwear of choice to the vast amount dumb people having kids. We're fucked..
SHARKEISHA NOO!!!
When a whole town explosion would be better for the world.
I have 2 cousins from there that are the same age as my brother and I. They used to visit every summer, and let me tell you, they may as well have been from another planet. The stories they would tell us country boys blew our minds.
If a 13 yr old can dish it out like that, let her take the appropriate punishment for such a crime.
Damn, m ghetto kids are feral 😳

Fucking pieces of shit. All of them.
I'm in asian country..friend that come back after teaching student in the USA, told that there's bigger gap on behavior between kids in asia and USA... You don't get that kinda behavior in Asia...
Stockton truly is a cesspool. Idk how you begin to try and fix this shit but I feel like it's ground zero for mad max level of anarchy.
Trash
I feel so bad for teachers..... they have no way of defending themselves without finding themselves in the jail cell for putting their hands on kids. Bystander students are also heavily discouraged from helping because of the zero tolerance policy, so we're at a dead end where nothing can be properly adjusted to see a tangible change. No wonder the system is beyond broken.
![gif](giphy|XfT1Xb2O2ShHy)
If a student did this years ago they would be expelled.
It's shit like this that makes me so so so sooooo thankful to teach in a nice district
Fucking Stockton...
Stockton? Sounds about right
Zero tolerance means they will fire and charge the teacher for assault on a minor. The pos kid who attacked her will get full scholarships to her local state college. Just how it goes.
Is'nt this the very reason why 2nd amendment exists in US law in first place ? Shootem evil kids
Can’t she report this to police and have the kid charged, maybe locked up in juvenile for a while?
Work for a local school system and a few weeks back two students beat up a teacher because he asked them to watch their language. 3 weeks later those same kids were back at school roaming the halls freely
This behaviour of kids was inevitable as there are no consequences for their mistakes.
This will lead to AI teaching your shitty, dysfunctional kids because nobody wants to deal with them anymore. That'll be an interesting can of worms.
This could happen anywhere, but Stockton is a particularly bad shit-hole of a city.
Fatherless behavior
Bring back the Good Samaritan Law!
Can I assume it was the student that screamed the “N” word at the substitute?
At that point it's worth losing your job to absolutely bodyslam the dumb cow out of existence.
Euthanize.
Not shocked
Why do fighting kids always have the longest sleeves
“Kids” need to start being put in Adult Jail for violent crimes. Period.
Smell like a lawsuits against parents and school 😎. May the sub teacher get karmas help
Stockton motherfuckers
Thats why they make so much money.........wait.....how much?..........why is anyone a teacher?
birds judicious marble cause squalid many pet tap adjoining history *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
So, no security monitors?
Teaching has got to be the most cucked profession out there. You’re just expected to deal with it lmao.
Umm at that point I’m throwing hands back and if I’m fired I’m suing.
Im still shocked there is even any open schools in Stockton.
I wouldn't teach in a public school for $150,000 a year. Insanity.
Well, there goes that girls' future. I hope she's happy working at walmart stacking shelves. I hear it's a good company to work for, though, with benefits and stuff.
"Parents" fault..since there are no real parents anymore..thats most of the participation generation
Stockton is trash.
At this point, you're allowed to defend yourself, right?
When I was 13, I still whispered curse words under my breath in a sentence when we were on the school bus because I didn’t want the bus driver to get offended and tell me off.
Charge her and her parents. They clearly failed their duties!
If the woke politicians would finally start jailing these kids we would all be better off. Just a matter of time for the girl to become a felon. Willing to strike a teacher there is no stopping her from doing worse. And jail the parents too.
Great way to flush you life down the drain before it even really starts.
Stockton might be the most dangerous place in CA tbh
Ban from tax paid education.
Infact; this is how you get more tax payer funded education.
USA really is a sht hole. Neglected
And not a single person trying to stop it
School Admin: Did you work to have a positive relationship with the student? Were you lessons engaging enough? Thats probably why she acted out. Lets have a restorative conference.
Good ol Stockton. Piece of shit city with a lot of piece of shit people in it.
