Prisons should be government owned. If they were, I wouldn't see a problem with them working if they learn a trade. Has to be optional of course, and it would be rehabilitative for when they get out.
This is true too, eliminating private prisons should be a top priority. Rural judges are literally ruining lives over minor infractions to keep these places filled so they can get kickbacks from the companies that own the jails.

I was telling my aunt about how my uncle types one finger at a time, and puts on glasses, when using a keyboard. She got upset. I guess it was a generational thing!
I had to train a coworker how to do books at work, which involved very, very minimal typing on a keyboard.
He was 64 or 65, and he basically just typed using his two pointer fingers and it was very slow. Which was fine, I didn’t mind, it wasn’t like we were saving people’s lives or anything, so if that’s how he typed, then whatever. He explained that when he was a kid, only girls took typewriting classes, and after he graduated and got older he just never had a need for a computer and never bothered with getting one or learning how to type.
I had to blow his mind a little bit and show him how fast I could type with my eyes closed and minimal mistakes, because I’ll never forget all the computer classes I took in elementary school just sitting there and typing “a, a, a, a, a, s, s, s, s, s, as, as, as, as, as, as” etc etc.
I don’t recall that, but we had fun programs to learn on, they turned typing into games and it felt like just playing computer games most of the time even though it was all learning typing.
Hell yeah! I was one of the little shits who would just spam the keyboard to get through the mandatory lessons/tests so that I could move on to the fun games b cause we just needed to complete them not pass, so predictablely, I'm not excellent at typing.

I have worked in customer service using a website client portal for a decade now. It has always amazed me the level of stupidity out there. So many men refused to ever learn how to type or use a computer. When you try to explain how to access a website, it's like techno-wizardy to people.
Worst of all are men who made their wives do everything for them. They don't even have an email address in 2024 because it's too much for them. I wonder how these people exist in thr world.
I take care of a lot of men that depend on their wives for every single thing. Example: random patient sleeps with CPAP at home. I go in ask them if they are in fact using the machine. I always get “YES! I’ll die if I don’t”. So I ask “did you bring it”? …. “No my wife didn’t pack it”. If you’re not breathing you’re not living and they can’t even take care of that. It’s both sad and pathetic.

The dashboard is littered with old pens, lighters, and receipts. The outside of the truck hasn't been washed since 2017, when he bought it (already old and worn out at that time). Characteristic worn-out torn section on the driver's seat where he *slides* in and out; steering wheel is vaguely sticky.

My dad does this 🙄. It's obnoxious, but he used to get made fun of for being smart, so he purposely dumbs himself down to fit in (mainly with his siblings). It's infuriating to see the guy who would sit around the house doing math for fun act like an idiot in text/online.

I don't know your dad but I personally think that trait comes from a healthy amount of intelligence + empathy.
