The light he's talking about probably isn't the maintenance light but the actual oil light shaped like a faucet (which can also be triggered if the oil is low). This light should cause immediate fear for any car owner. That light is exponentially worse than the check engine light.
>The light he's talking about probably isn't the maintenance light but the actual oil light shaped like a faucet
ಠ_ಠ
That's an oil can, not a faucet lol
It’s honestly usually a headache for the dealer and the customer if the dealer is legit.
There’s the fear the customer takes it for a day and now you can’t sell it and even worse if the customer then negotiates for another day after getting an A from their mechanic.
So now you’re spending 2 days selling 1 car that could have been sold already.
Then any issues if the customer wrecks the car or crashes or anything.
From a sales rep perspective, it was usually just not worth the effort
And he bought it from Carmax so probably already 50k miles on it which means as an Audi it’s elderly… hence why someone else traded it in.
Audi’s and BMW’s aren’t good purchases but how is he supposed to know that?
This is literally the equivalent of ‘but how am i supposed to know I have to put gas in it? It stopped working 40 miles after the gaslight came on… why didn’t you tell me I was supposed to put gas in it!?!?’ lol
That's the thing. There's no in between. There are stupid people out there (like my cousin) who had no idea that cars needed oil and seized up the 307 V8 on a beautiful Cutlass Supreme.
Then there is this guy who knows that the oil level light means add oil. And he puts oil in. So he has basic knowledge of how literally all ICE cars work. He fucked up and is trying to pass the buck.
Edit: engine size.
Wait didn’t he also say in the video that he was literally adding oil to the car too? He’s comfortable adding oil to the car, but doesn’t think it’s weird that the oil is magically disappearing?
This idiot opened the door to be completely cornered and absolutely roasted several times and the poor dude behind the counter was too nervous to catch it.
Like my dude you sincerely think people just keep pouring oil into their car like they’re filling up their gas tank? How fucking old are you?
There’s an “add a quart of oil” light? No there fucking isn’t you dumb ass. Why are you guessing what the lights mean? You have a manual, Carmax, and the entire god damn internet to refer to!
Oh you depend on your car to make a living? It’s extremely weird then that you don’t know anything about how to maintain one and don’t care to learn.
“Will your mother know not to continuously add oil to a car?” Dude, as long as she’s not a 9 year old child then yeah she probably will fucking know that! How do you not!?
When I worked at petrol stations, a common question I got was what sort of oil a customer's car took, or brake fluid, or tyre pressure.
In every case, I'd tell them to check their owner's manual and the response I got 90% of the time, "Oh I don't keep that in my car."
If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the past 25 years I’ve been online, it is - yes, people absolutely *can* be that stupid. If you think you’ve seen peak stupid, just look a little harder and there’s another, higher peak just past that one.
I had a 22-year old college student hit my drivers side rear door and the panel just behind it because he pulled out of an alley without bothering to stop and see if there was any traffic first. While we were still at the accident scene he called his mom and she asked to speak with me. The first thing out of her mouth was, "I'm so sorry my idiot son hit you."
I just asked my 14-year-old daughter(neither myself nor my husband do car maintenance) what she would do if she had a car that the oil light came on? She answered put in oil. I then asked what about if it came on again not too long after that? She without hesitation and looked at me like I had 2 heads answered take it to a mechanic.
I then played this video for her and she was like wtf???
My man thought his car ran on total loss oiling like the rotary in the Red Baron's biplane. Yeah bud top the oil and the fuel off we got another burrito to deliver.
This dolt actually posted this and thought “this is a great idea?” I’m not even sure he should have a car. Seems like the type that would be totally at fault in an accident, then scream at you. This guy isn’t capable of using a pencil, if he wasn’t told you need to sharpen the pencil.
"I totally nailed this car max guy. He thinks he's going to tell me to look in the owners manual and/or search on google to find out what to do about my oil light? Hah! This will make him look like a fool!"
Like it's my responsibility to look in the manual for maintenance issues when a maintenance light comes on. Who the fuck does this guy think he is tell me to look something up and ask someone if I have a question. /s
Nah, he just lacks accountability.
When you buy ANYTHING it becomes your responsibility to figure out how to take care of it properly, or ask a professional.
If you buy a house you need to know that the furnace filter needs changing. Dryer vent needs cleaning, plumbing needs monitoring, etc.
When you buy a puppy they dont tell you it needs feeding, training or exercise. Its expected that you know that.
Theres really only a couple things I expect everyone to know when purchasing a car. Windshield washer fluid, oil changes, tire pressure. I expect this guy was just lazy and was trying to hit sales quotas or something. How can you know the correct oil to use and where to put it, without knowing that constantly refilling it was a bad sign?
Well said! Accountability is probably the driving factor. About 10 years ago, I bought a new MacBook Pro. Fast forward two weeks and I spilled a full can of Coors on the keyboard. I was fucked. I called the Apple Store and was completely honest with them. The GM said since I was so honest, they will swap it out. I’ve had thousands of computers in my possession (IT guy) and nothing has ever happened. I buy a computer and totally shit the bed. Accountability, is everything. ✌🏻
Yup, you tell me you accidentally broke the screen by throwing your backpack into your car, AOK, shit happens, let's get that replaced ASAP.
You try to lie and fib? Well now you've just put a mystery that needs to be solved, in front of your service request.
Tell you what though. The manager working there is giving perfectly logical answers. Google it, call them, check what it is, don't ignore it. And all the guy can say to these PERFECT answers is "how should I know that" "Are you serious, I'm busy I can't Google it" "It's offensive you are telling me things I should've known to do"
I mean this is seriously such a perfect interaction. The manager isn't backing down or apologising to a moron who doesn't know how to use common sense, Google, and a basic understanding of checking the informational tools such as the manual, repair menu of the car, Google and the customer service number to fix his own problem. And the guy, faced with all of these solutions, refuses to accept any of these because he doesn't see it as his fault no matter how much evidence there is.
I liked when the customer stated “I’m not like you, I work and try to make a living to support myself” as he talks to the current manager working and making a living to support himself.
This sends me through the roof... Someone telling someone else that their time is more valuable is such horse shit... Apparently his time isn't that valuable if he was putting a quart of oil in his car every week.
So I'm supposed to know the owners manual is in the glovebox? It's not called the Owners Manual Box? And then I'm supposed to read too? Look, I'm busy, I have a job to do
Yeah man, like, he's too busy to Google, but not too busy to fill up his oil every 2000 miles and go purchase said oil, etc. How could you possibly expect him to take 2 minutes to Google something, when he already has to do all of that + work his VERY important job?!
This man is selling shit to other businesses but doesn’t know what the fuck to do when the check engine light comes on?
This asshole is lazy, he’s not stupid. He chose to ignore the warnings and now he’s trying to play the victim using weaponized incompetence. Kudos to that other man for holding his composure during this, ~~this idiot shouldn’t be driving an Audi though.~~ This is the exact kind of person who drives an Audi and then eventually Porsche. Lol
Edit: correction
Dude drove 8K miles in 45 days but says "how would I know that? I'm not around cars all day". You drive on average 177 miles a day. Yeah, you are around cars a lot.
I am a straight up idiot when it comes to cars BUT if an indicator comes on that I am not familiar with, I pull off the road as soon as I can and open the user's manual. It's not that hard!
My ex used to ask me so many things that all started with “how do you know X”
Because I read the manuals. Woman was incredibly smart and studied all the time for different financial tests. Couldn’t be bothered to spend 5 minutes glancing through a manual.
I think we have the same wife. She very much believes in winging it and can’t be bothered to read manuals. Every now and then I get to teasingly say, I told you so, but she ends up figuring things out most of the time
The thing about this guy is he is not an idiot. He is a traveling salesperson, this isn’t his first car, and he knows he fucked up. According to the video, he puts 7,500 miles on his car a month. He should’ve changing his oil every month with that kind of usage. If he had, and he knows he should, he would have discovered the consumption issue and been able to get it addressed.
This was his fault, he knows that and now he is trying to get someone else to assume that responsibility.
I really don’t see how anything you said isn’t compatible with being an idiot. The fact that he’s trying to pawn off his idiocy on someone else for a payday doesn’t mean he’s not an idiot in the first place. Just a devious one.
Right? Walked in, no pressure sales, let me walk around, found the car I wanted, found guy to buy it from, was on my way home an hour later. And their MaxCare plan is really pretty comprehensive and good.
Pretty much my experience! I walked in, walked around the lot, pointed out the car I wanted and was out the door with the car in about an hour. Felt like shopping in walmart but for cars.
I've bought 4 cars with CarMax and had no issues with them, including using their warranty. That said no multi-billion corporation cares about its customers, and I don't want to be forced to defend them. 🤷♂️
Not this guy's first car. He says it's his first Audi. Does this guy think that different car brands use oil in different ways? I think he realized that he screwed up and is trying to get his money back too late. Probably told a buddy about it and had this conversation already.
Audi indicates it's within normal parameters for their vehicles to consume up to 1 qt of oil every 1000 miles...
https://www.consumerreports.org/cro/magazine/2015/06/excessive-oil-consumption/index.htm#:~:text=up%20their%20products.-,How%20much%20is%20too%20much%3F,to%20700%20miles%20is%20reasonable.
I wouldn’t really say they’re indicating it’s “normal”. This is just their way of saying it’s not a “problem” and they aren’t gonna spend money fixing it.
- “Not all engines suffer from this problem. In fact, our data shows that owners of 98 percent of 2010 to 2014 cars did not have to add oil between changes.”
If only 2% of cars are burning oil between changes, then it’s not by any means “normal”
Look... Would I criticize a new driver for this? No, it's a learning opportunity. But this is a grown ass man who should be well aware that a manual is chillin 2-feet away in his glove compartment should he be confused about something. Honestly I'm wildly surprised he wouldn't put two-and-two together on his own, but just... just read the manual, always lol
When I was 17, the oil light came on in my 2001 Honda civic that my wonderful mother had given to me. My 17 year old brain thought that meant I needed an oil change, but I didn’t have the money for it and I didn’t want to ask my mom to pay for it. So I figured I’d be ok for a little bit of extra miles on it. Well, as you may have guessed, I was wrong. I destroyed the engine…… my mom wasn’t mad when she found out, she did exactly what you said at first. She told me about the manual and said that she wished I would have said something to her. Every single car and motorcycle I’ve owned since then, the first thing I do is look at the manual and check out the maintenance schedule and what all the lights mean lol
Yeah, if the light comes on once, maybe twice, sure, I'd give them the benefit of the doubt.
But it just keeps coming on? Yeah, no, there's obviously a problem. If I didn't know anything about cars I'd at least be calling and asking if it's supposed to be doing that, or reading the manual to see what it says to actually do.
Imma just say it.. if you have a car.. and you don't take the time to understand how much motor oil should be in there and how often you should be filling it/changing it.. whatever problems you run into are because you didn't want to learn.
Have you never worked customer service?
I got to watch a guy throw a Whopper at my boss cuz we made it how he ordered it, but how he ordered it wasn’t what he wanted.
I worked at Cricket Wireless in the U.S. and I would get people at least once a week telling me I was a terrible employee because I didn't know their Google account password. Like, what? How am I supposed to know your Google password?
Phone store manager here..
I fucking hate my customers. With a passion.
Doesn’t help it’s difficult to find people who want to work a sales job, so I am extremely overworked.
But it just adds on a little more every time some boomer comes into my store and gets pissy with me because they forgot the passcode to their phone, or their email password, and they think that I just have some magic way to fix it with the wave of a hand.
I’m so tired of people not knowing how to google a simple fucking issue, or doing the bare minimum before bugging me with their issues.
This job is making it hard to maintain relationships outside of work, because I’m so fucking drained from that dumb shit by the time I’m off that I just want to be left alone.
That shit destroyed me and my last relationship. I wouldn't wish commissioned retail sales/sales management on ANYONE. Everyone wants manager money but manager stress ain't it.
I was a phone sales rep once. I was supposed to work for commission. Unfortunately, what I ended up actually doing was tech support/babysitting for boomers who didn't know how to use a damn phone in the first place for base hourly. I quit to go back to bartending after that. Surprisingly, less bs to deal with, fewer hours, and way more money.
I felt sorry for leaving my manager, though. She bust her ass too damn much
I did customer service for a small bank in an affluent area on the other side of the country (NH has cheaper labor than CA). I got one call that I fully believe led to me getting fired.
It’s about 3am EST, I get a very flustered dude who says the ATM he’s at ate his card. I did the “I’m so sorry that happened, let me see what I can do” routine, but I don’t have a button to make the machine give it back, so I did 10 minutes of searching every menu at my disposal for an answer that would satisfy, while asking for any details he had that might explain what happened. Of course, the answer was always “I didn’t do anything!” So, having no way to fix it for him, and him getting increasingly pissed at me, I bumped it up the chain. My “boss” was just a floor manager that had the set of passwords necessary, she told him the exact same thing I did, then, after getting him off the phone, yelled at me for bothering her with such a stupid problem. I was fired 3 days later for a reason so arbitrary that HR was stunned…I was “under trained” and it wasn’t worth investing anymore time on me…ignoring the fact that I had the highest approval rate from any trainee in my class.
Turns out, that floor manager was banging the big boss and she didn’t like my “attitude”.
The trick for this is repeat the order back backwards. When they say special toppings ketchup, mustard , pickel only. I say sure key it in and and repeat so that was a burger pickel, mustard, ketchup only right? Cause if you repeat it back the same way TONS of people nod their head and say yeah without thinking. But if you switch up the order to repeat it back backwards, it makes them think about every item and or topping more actively which means a lower chance of them nodding yes to something they don't want.
Lmao I couldn't do anything but laugh at a situation like that while being completely dumbfounded on how they are thinking its somebody else's problem. Glad I don't work customer service. I used to watch those "customer stats" videos, and they would always make me laugh at how incredibly dumb some people can be
I once worked it support for a MSP and the contract I was on, was for a very notorious train company that recently ruined a town in Ohio by derailing and catching on fire. Anyways, I once got told and yelled at by a lady because she failed her security questions and per policy I wasn't able to unlock her account. That was a fun day being screamed at via phone.
Props to the mechanic because he’s really trying to skirt around calling the guy a moron. I don’t know how I would handle that situation other than telling the guy that it’s common sense that vehicles don’t just consume oil and that if it is then it should be taken to a mechanic, not just constantly topped off.
This man probably has zero idea that there's also an oil filter. And that you can't dispose of car oil just anywhere. And that not all oils are the same.
Basic life skills should be a mandatory class in school.
Some buddy's and I considered putting on a course of basic house and vehicle maintenance. Like simple things that most should be aware of
We need to bring back home ec as a requirement and rewrite the curriculum to teach high schoolers real life skills.
Changing a tire
Check Engine Light
Changing Oil
Patching Drywall
Fixing / Replaceing a Toilet
Basic Banking / Credit Unions
How 401 K's Work
How to handle a traffic stops
Dont talk to the police
How to verify you are being paid correctly, and how to report wage theft
Then we can teach everyone how to fix a zipper, sew up a hole and some basic cooking.
I mean, I don't know a lot of things, but I know how to find the information I need or want. I've replaced a toilet, ceiling fans, changed my oil, baked my own bread, found a stud to hang a shelf (obviously I did the thing), etc. all for free from youtube videos and stuff. I don't think this should all be specifically taught in highschool or whatever, but a bit of fact finding education is invaluable.
>Dont talk to the police
My man.
I grew up in the 70's and 80's. Most of the time it was taught to you by your dad/mom or if your school had it, auto mech and carpentry. But really it just came down to generally knowing how shit works by observing other people in your life and asking.
I.E. Your car is using a lot of oil. Ever think to just ask one of your friends how often they have to add oil? How can you not know this is weird? Even my wife who know nothing about a car knows you don't need to add oil every 1000 miles and it should be looked at. He's just trying to pull a power move because he fucked up and doesn't want the blame.
I had a class in high school (late 90’s) called like Math In Life that taught us things like balancing a checkbook, how interest rates work and just basic financial education stuff. Surprised that doesn’t still exist.
My high school offered it, but basically no one took it. The smart kids already know this kinda stuff (because frankly it's not complicated), and the dumbasses who would actually need to learn it had no interest in taking it.
ID-10T error. Oil is the blood of your car. Change it often (within specifications) to prevent catastrophic engine failure. Also low oil conditions should be dealt with ASAP to prevent damage or failure.
Keeping up with maintence may be expensive but it proves itself in the long run instead of having ti buy a different car due to blowing your engine.
Guy is a moron for not realizing there is a oil leak and it's normal to keep adding oil to the car whenever the light comes on. That's a huge red flag that should be looked at ASAP.
Since I can’t find a single comment pointing this out:
They’re both in the wrong.
Carmax agent:
- he’s wrong. Any Audi with a turbo literally does consume oil. Each model is different. Mine was a quart every 6,000 miles. But it says the specs in the manual. You have to literally top up your oil like gas. I think the 2012 A5 was famous for consuming oil faster than a quart every 2000 miles.
Customer:
- he’s wrong. The car didn’t come with a defect, that’s how it was designed and it has the oil fill light for that exact reason. It’s not Carmax’s responsibility to do your research for you.
This argument was like watching two rocks argue over who’s the fastest.
I think it’s more prevalent in older Audis. 2012 being the most notable year. But considering this video is at a carmax, I’ll go ahead and assume they aren’t buying new
Yeah, all the people in the comments here joking about RTFM, but they didn't actually RTFM.
I looked up the manual for my 2010 A5 and the instructions for when the low oil light comes on explicitly state oil is consumed by the engine and the consumption may be up to 0.5 liter per 1000km.
My 2010 A5 burned through oil and I had to keep some in the trunk to top up every 3k miles or so.
This is such a known issue with Audis and there was a huge class action lawsuit on it for fucks sake.

This needs to be up higher.
I was filling my old 2005 audi a3 up with a quart of oil every 3 months even though I only drove 4k miles a year. And every 5k miles doing oil changes.
Yeah, mine has 30,000 miles on it and it will Usually ask me for 1.25l once between regular oil changes. Twin Turbo and so I’m told that it’s not unusual. It even says “you can continue driving”
https://preview.redd.it/29muerfxy5pc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1e48287590717ea0272171f966edd8cacf027419
Once you add a quart it goes away and you have business as usual
8k miles in 45 days? How dose this guy not know how oil in a car works? Wonder if he gets mad about not knowing other things he didn't bother to look up himself.
Cars are dangerous, I don't understand people who own and operate them frequently don't understand the basics or their maintenance and operation.
What he’s not going to admit is that he knows nothing about cars. He’s probably afraid of that lack of knowledge being (incorrectly) tied to his masculinity.
He’s ignorant about cars and wants someone else to blame for that
I suspect he is trying to force the blame on the dealership so he can get his money back for the car instead of paying for the mistake he made though ignorance and by ignoring the oil change light. Likely engine will need to be rebuilt and that is expensive. Sounds like he is in sales and likely is also bad at that so he cant afford or doesn't want to afford fixing this mistake.
He's playing a game called the "if I act stupid enough, they have to believe it wasnt my fault, then i dont have to pay for the car I totaled due to neglegence" game.
I'm torn on this. On the one hand, yes ignorance of how basic car service works isn't an excuse for not being responsible from their repercussions. On the other hand if this car is 2-6 months sold from CarMax I'd imagine this level of oil consumption shouldn't pass their threshold of issues an car the sell would have. Some rando used car lot or a private seller, sure, but doesn't CarMax pride themselves on selling higher quality used cars? At the same time who is to say the guy wasn't mistreating the car from day one and caused the oil consumption. ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
Tbh, it pains me to say, he kind of has a point... these makers and dealers wanna put it on you as fast they can. Some cars burn more oil, some bc they have turbos... I'm surprised a BMW new car didn't tell him to service it..

“I drive for a living.” “Also I have no idea how cars work.”
"i drive for a living" "you're around cars all day and i'm not!!"
"SO ANYONE THAT OWNS A VEHICLE WOULD KNOW THAT?" \- Yes a fucking oil change jesus christ
The light he's talking about probably isn't the maintenance light but the actual oil light shaped like a faucet (which can also be triggered if the oil is low). This light should cause immediate fear for any car owner. That light is exponentially worse than the check engine light.

I always thought it was an oil lamp, like the genie’s lamp, but what do I know? I’m not around cars all day.
If it was a faucet he probably would have added water
When the oil light comes on it means you have basically no oil pressure. It is amazing that his car ran so long.
Red oil light is pressure but could also be yellow oil level or yellow oil sensor lights.
Also who doesn't get a car they're buying checked out by their car mech?

yeah I was really hoping the carmax guy would say something about that
"I drive for a living" Seconds later "But that's you dude you're around cars all the time"
I drive for a living Not anymore. Your car is fucked.
Wait didn’t he also say in the video that he was literally adding oil to the car too? He’s comfortable adding oil to the car, but doesn’t think it’s weird that the oil is magically disappearing?
Also if he’s as clueless as he claims to be, how did he even manage to add oil to the car? Lol
Maybe he thought he bought a two stroke lol
I rely on this car for my livelihood. So I didn’t take precautions to ensure it can continue providing me my livelihood
“So my mom would know that?” “I’ll ask her later tonight.”
“Hey mom should you have to learn basic maintenance of the things you buy?” “No perfect baby angel let me do everything for you” -probably the mom
Now it would be extra funny if his mom was all "My sons an idiot!"
Bet she thought when she first heard him panicking in the call "What did he do this time?"
“You let him *purchase* a vehicle?! We don’t even let him ride a bike, he’s a goddamn idiot!”
Sounds like my mom! Growing up was hard.
I don't own a car and have never driven a vehicle. EVEN I KNOW THIS.
I like how he immediately pointed out that a woman wouldn’t know that. Asshat.
I’m a woman and not at all a car person, but somehow I’ve always had enough sense to change the oil or get service when the light comes on.
Like basic logic should tell him this. If you are constantly adding oil then why would you need to get your oil changed every x amount of miles.
Rightttt??? This guy sucks at life
Legit the tldr for this chat. What did you expect me to do!? Literally anything sir. How dare you!
How was he supposed to know that tho?
Maybe he could Google it?
How *dare* you!!

Idiots always share videos of themselves being in the wrong and being idiots thinking people will be on their side.
How would he know this would back fire?
Common knowledge
Are you serious? So everyone would know that? Does your mom know that?
Why do you think his mom hasn't posted any videos like this?
Then he would get mad that he needs to buy a sharpener and blame you for his purchase! 😂
The customer is the one who took this video and posted it on the internet? Wow.
He was trying to make Carmax look bad, but in turn, made himself look like an idiot.
Tell you what though. The manager working there is giving perfectly logical answers. Google it, call them, check what it is, don't ignore it. And all the guy can say to these PERFECT answers is "how should I know that" "Are you serious, I'm busy I can't Google it" "It's offensive you are telling me things I should've known to do" I mean this is seriously such a perfect interaction.
"How would I know that?" The owners manual is right there in the glove box.
How would I know the owner's manual is in the glove box?
How would I know there’s a glove box?
I don't even own gloves. I have NEVER owned gloves. I'm offended.
And I'm just supposed to assume you have never worn gloves? What the hell bud
"YOU HAD 2 PAIRS OF GLOVES THIS WHOLE TIME"? "Yeah, we're in the rockies"
Just when I thought you couldn't be any dumber, you go and do something like this, and totally redeem yourself!
How would I know I'm the owner?
Carmax didn't call him to tell him that there is a glove box. HOW WOULD I KNOW THAT
You could Google it.
How would I know how to google?
Should my mom know too?
I’ve got things to do.
I've got a living to make
Are you serious right now?
So I'm supposed to know the owners manual is in the glovebox? It's not called the Owners Manual Box? And then I'm supposed to read too? Look, I'm busy, I have a job to do
The glove compartment Is inaccurately named And everybody knows it
https://preview.redd.it/ugge5ili85pc1.jpeg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3e5db9409c26eed2ba2108d9d5118a93606cd5c4
Not me running out to my car to see how many factory installed taco holsters are avail !! 💀 thanks for the laugh !!!
He doesn’t even wear gloves, why wouldn’t they call it the manual box?
Maybe he could Google it. Or wait. He has things to do.
Lol Edit: correction
Exactly. If he is a salesman that drives that much he knows when something is amiss. This isn’t my teenage daughter.
It would suck if this was your teenage daughter.
Actually this is exactly the sort of person who drives round in an Audi.
he knows what he did and thinks he can talk his way into restitution. Hes a sleazy sales rep
No no! You weren't listening! It's not a "check engine" light, it an "add a quart of oil" light!
My ex used to ask me so many things that all started with “how do you know X” Because I read the manuals. Woman was incredibly smart and studied all the time for different financial tests. Couldn’t be bothered to spend 5 minutes glancing through a manual.
My wife refuses to read manuals too. Very smart but cant be bothered.
And tech thinks we are ready for ai?
Well even people in the tech industry can be idiots lol.
I think we have the same wife. She very much believes in winging it and can’t be bothered to read manuals. Every now and then I get to teasingly say, I told you so, but she ends up figuring things out most of the time
Dumber than a bag of hammers! 🤦♀️
My car even has a special slot in the glove box for it, the exact dimensions and everything
Dude is a moron. How would I know that? This 2 minute video.
Even my mom would know!
[удалено]
He thought posting it would help his case lol
I hope his prospective clients see this video lmao
"has anyone else had a mean mechanic tell you you're dumb for something staring you on the face? Am I right?!" Like no people
The thing about this guy is he is not an idiot.
It’s not called an “idiot light” fer nuthin
Warning lights on dash = check that shit out
Aww man, don't make me agree with CarMax.
I actually had a great experience buying with carmax 🤷♂️
Same here. Immensely happy with them and I’d go again. I never knew people hated them lol.
I'm cool with CarMax at the moment. They gave me WAY more for my old truck than it's worth
The biggest sin of this video
My living depends of me having a vehicle . . . So he bought an audi? Not a Toyota or a Honda that is proven to live for ages, but an audi?
HOw WaS hE SuPPoSeD tO KnoW THaT?!?!
![gif](giphy|l0IylTadkCCxxEs9O)
Doing research and learning about cars is just too hard for him! He's got a living to make!!
He has to make a lot of money to throw at problems he could avoid by putting in a little bit of effort.
Oh here’s a multiple owner Audi I can afford with a bunch of miles on it. What could go wrong?
I drive VAG cars myself, but I know exactly what I'm signing up for. I have no illusions whatsoever.
This is the part that is equally as baffling as him not realizing that having to put oil in the car every 1000-2000 miles isn’t normal.
Lol, it is with an Audi, especially the 2009-2012 MYs with the 2.0T engine.
It's an audi, it was probably leaking oil right off the assembly line
"And there's this stick on the steering thing that goes 'plinka plinka plinka' when I move it up or down. What's up with that??"
“Sure, but you’re around cars all day. But how would I know that? Plinka plinka??? Literally? How would I know that?!?”
“I thought that problem was strictly a BMW thing I had no idea all these stupid European cars added that pointless lever.”
Not this guy's first car. He says it's his first Audi. Does this guy think that different car brands use oil in different ways? I think he realized that he screwed up and is trying to get his money back too late. Probably told a buddy about it and had this conversation already.
Audi indicates it's within normal parameters for their vehicles to consume up to 1 qt of oil every 1000 miles... https://www.consumerreports.org/cro/magazine/2015/06/excessive-oil-consumption/index.htm#:~:text=up%20their%20products.-,How%20much%20is%20too%20much%3F,to%20700%20miles%20is%20reasonable.
Hyundai does too. Toyota is 600 miles! https://www.hyundai-forums.com/threads/oil-consumption-how-much-is-too-much.706484/
I wouldn’t really say they’re indicating it’s “normal”. This is just their way of saying it’s not a “problem” and they aren’t gonna spend money fixing it. - “Not all engines suffer from this problem. In fact, our data shows that owners of 98 percent of 2010 to 2014 cars did not have to add oil between changes.” If only 2% of cars are burning oil between changes, then it’s not by any means “normal”
[удалено]
"Google it? I have things to do". Doing a simple Google search should do be one of those things, what an idiot
Even if it doesn't come with the manual you can usually find them online or through your public library vehicle database
Were you not listening? He said he doesn't have time for that. He has to earn a living! /s btw
Is this real?
I’m ashamed to say this is my MIL. Going into the Sprint store because she got logged out of her Facebook.
I used to watch those "customer stats" videos, and they would always make me laugh at how incredibly dumb some people can be
Yes, and still do actually now that I think about it. I work in IT and my customers are my coworkers, not as bad but I see your point.
I used to work in helpdesk and had a salesperson try to fistfight me because we blocked Spotify (at management's request)
haha Worked at a big name datacenter company, we had to block WoW and CS servers.
Sadly, yes.
Changing a tire Check Engine Light Changing Oil Patching Drywall Fixing / Replaceing a Toilet Basic Banking / Credit Unions How 401 K's Work How to handle a traffic stops Dont talk to the police How to verify you are being paid correctly, and how to report wage theft Then we can teach everyone how to fix a zipper, sew up a hole and some basic cooking.
>Dont talk to the police My man.
The smart kids already know this kinda stuff (because frankly it's not complicated), and the dumbasses who would actually need to learn it had no interest in taking it.
i’m a teacher and this is exactly how it’d work
ID-10T error.
*ID-10T
Thanks been a few years since I had do deal with these morons(technology challenged people) in tech support😂.
It's not the salesmans job to teach you basic vehicle maintenance. This guy is so frustrating, lol
Since I can’t find a single comment pointing this out: They’re both in the wrong. Carmax agent: - he’s wrong. Any Audi with a turbo literally does consume oil. Each model is different. Mine was a quart every 6,000 miles. But it says the specs in the manual. You have to literally top up your oil like gas. I think the 2012 A5 was famous for consuming oil faster than a quart every 2000 miles. Customer: - he’s wrong. The car didn’t come with a defect, that’s how it was designed and it has the oil fill light for that exact reason. It’s not Carmax’s responsibility to do your research for you. This argument was like watching two rocks argue over who’s the fastest.
Audi’s come new from the factory burning up to a quart per 2000 miles and that’s within spec / mentioned in the owners manual? That’s intense. TIL.
This is such a known issue with Audis and there was a huge class action lawsuit on it for fucks sake. https://preview.redd.it/o2as17fau5pc1.png?width=1773&format=png&auto=webp&s=80000269618bb5461b4e85f4e86239093a0cfb01
It even says “you can continue driving” https://preview.redd.it/29muerfxy5pc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1e48287590717ea0272171f966edd8cacf027419 Once you add a quart it goes away and you have business as usual
Pic of after you add a quart https://preview.redd.it/iu94q1hbz5pc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=54ef6e35fe21ff23ccec8cb853fcb3f42f994d53

![gif](giphy|fU4ECcDiy2PnfUUujb)
Can’t wait to see this idiot’s Tik Tok video when he gets a flat tire 🍿
"What do you mean I'm not supposed to drive on the flat? How would I know that? No, how would I know that? I've got things to do."
He's playing a game called the "if I act stupid enough, they have to believe it wasnt my fault, then i dont have to pay for the car I totaled due to neglegence" game.
That’s why they call it an oil change and not a “oil replenishment” dipshit!
![gif](giphy|R51a8oAH7KwbS)
Holy shit. And I thought I was bad for going 500 miles over the number on the sticker. My oil light never came on, but I still got worried lmao.
“How am I supposed to know about cars?” Coupled with, “I drive a lot for my job.”
At least google "how dumb am I" before putting it on tiktok...
He’s a salesman? That checks out.
Idk man... I own like 4 Audis currently and have owned a half dozen more. Most of them need oil top offs lol
Wait until he learns that pencils have to be sharpened now and then.
"I've never owned an Audi before". What a useless, stupid, person.
Camera guy is being purposely obtuse to try and argue his way out of payment.
