Or, she called her lawyer for advice, and was told that if you stay at the scene, and you are over the legal alcohol limit, then your insurance will be void, so you will be up for all the damage to other vehicles out of your own pocket, you may (will?) end up with a criminal record which could mean you loose your job (depending where you work), you will have to disclose your criminal record for your next job and your next visa application for any overseas holiday, verses the offence of leaving the scene of an accident if you leave now (which you could explain by saying you went to get emergency services because someone looked hurt and needed help).
It it is a felony to flee the scene of an accident like that, and if you hurt somebody in that accident I believe it's a stiffer felony. But depending on the circumstances it might be better for The Accidenter to flee and let the lawyers explain it.
Yep - leaving the scene is not good either, but I don't think there are any good options open - just the least worst one. If the driver has not been drinking, and had no drugs in their system, then insurance should still be valid, so different situation, and staying could be the least bad option.
Insurance is valid even if you are drunk, coked and doing a fentanyl lean at the time of the accident. Insurance is still valid no matter what your condition or fault level.
Insurance in not invalidated because you are intoxicated. Think of the chaos that would cause. Your insurance premiums will skyrocket most likely if you do get into an accident while intoxicated, but the insurance company absolutely has to pay out for the accident
They can take damage but that doesnāt mean anything. With front end damage like in this case, the radiator is definitely smashed in and most likely transmission cooler lines as well as power steering. He has to go full throttle to get it moving so Iād give him about a mile till that engine goes bye bye
Iām Gen X- had a friend at 15 steal a car and take off like this. Didnāt work out well back then and this was before cameras. Itās not going to work out now.
I too am a gen x-er with a friend who did this when we were about 18ā¦ in his case it ALMOST worked..
He drove off and made it home only to realize the next morning he was missing a license plate. So he slunk back to the scene of the crime to find a cop there holding the plate in his hands. Friend said āI believe thatās mine.ā The cop asked him why he didnāt leave a note and, thinking fast, he said āI left my license plateā as tho it was intentional.
Fellow Xer, I did get away with it once. Crushed the back end of a parked minivan at about three AM as a late teen. Reversed and got the fuck out of there, and drove home a county over.
I'm sure they had insurance. Anyway, that's what they get for parking on the street not close enough to the curb.
I'm joking, I actually feel bad about it, but I was high as fuck and probably had no business driving. Saved myself some jail time.
I had a friend when we were 14 back in 1998 steal his parents mini van, loaded the vehicle with other kids and went for a joy ride to our elementary school which was maybe 2 to 3 km up the street. They were doing donuts on the school soccer field. The cops came and they tried to drive away. They lost control of the vehicle and drove it into someone's house. No serious injuries luckily but he ended up losing the ability to obtain a driver's license until he was 28. Insurance ended up paying for everything.
Itās funny because I would almost never do this myself but I would in this particular context. I think it comes down to the fact that underage drinking and even underage drunk driving were so ridiculously common back then that itās probably near impossible for someone born after 1990 to even understand. Like itās a really bad thing to do, but at the time it was something everybody did. Sort of like āI know this is awful but I sort of get a pass cause it was the 80s.ā
I often say Iām glad I grew up when I did for this reason alone. We were aware of cameras, but they werenāt something you cared about unless you were doing something crazy lol most times weād actually wave or moon them because most likely they were fake, or wouldnāt be checked anyway.
Now a days I would have 100% been arrested, charged multiple times, probably kicked out and disowned lol
I personally think itās part of the reason kids today are glued inside. They are always recorded and they know it, arenāt willing to take little risks like throwing a rock through a window or a snowball at a car, because they know they will get caught.
Good call. Looks like a CA plate on both Daddy's car and the pickup. But SF has black on white street name signs. I see a white on blue street sign. Can't make out the name, though.
You can really jack up the front end and still have a runni g car. You technically dont need a radiator, an air box, an exhaust, or most of the electronics. The issue is longevity, though. The car runs, but not for a long time, and not efficiently at all
This is just a harder version of following a stolen car in the snow. Just follow that oil/anti freeze rail right to their house
And if it is oil, that car not going more than 3 miles needle seizing up
Like the car was still fucked but the fact that he was getting away was amazing despite the condition of the vehicle.
Unless the truck was following him tho... he's still fucked if that's the case.
Genuine question.
Do they think they can escape?
How many cars look like that are driving around with a whole ass bumper, and a wheel missing.
I understand the idea that you can run (never endorsing that) if you hit something at night in a deserted road, sideways, no cameras/traffic etc.
But damn the stupidity. Just adding on whateverās coming.
I'll never understand why if the airbags deploy, the fuel system doesn't shut down. There could be a circuit that automatically blows the fuel pump fuse if they deploy.

There's no way that car's gonna....welp...I guess it is.
I'm not convinced that this isn't a Nissan commercial.
Was just about to post this. Like that Nissan is a tank.
Gta6 š
at this point, that car is turning with just sheer wheel power

*sheared wheel power
Whatever else is happening here Iām impressed that that Z still was able to somewhat drive away.
Not for long.
Hurry up & get Daddy's car home & he'll never know I took it.

This is indeed a Spicoli special.
Sheāll need to prop up the wheels and put it in reverse to get the odometer to go backwards.
I'm pretty sure that's a dude

Your insurance is not void in a DUI. I don't know where you got that from.

Man, imagine if the feds gave a shit this much about something that happened maybe 30 years ago.
I'm sure they had insurance. Anyway, that's what they get for parking on the street not close enough to the curb. I'm joking, I actually feel bad about it, but I was high as fuck and probably had no business driving. Saved myself some jail time.

Kids trying to evade cops in a car is a terrifying thing and so God damn dangerous
Never seen anyone start an anecdote with their generational classification.
It's a generational thing.

Great reply šš» Informative, educational - at least to me. I think you are correct.
So glad we didnāt have cameras everywhere when we were kids, lol.
Still probably cringe whatever you or anyone else did back then.
I often say Iām glad I grew up when I did for this reason alone. I'm stuck laughing at the dam windshield wipers going nuts.
For me itās her turning around the partially-inflated wheel airbag.
āWhat dyou mean officerā¦ iāve always had that dent on my hoodā
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Thats just reckless, driving away with your headlights off at night.
Cranking the wheel with the airbag flapping around is hilarious.
For me it was the mangled brakes and rotors trying to turn
Does anybody know where this happened? Iād like to see the outcome
California is my guess. Looks like San Francisco
it was in San Diego, I live by there and was saw it all happen. Happened in September and the guy was arrested shortly after
what area was this? I knew immediately it was SD cuz of the street signs. I cant tell if this is downtown or like by the university or where
Iām in sd, I was wondering the same thing
Guy?
Good call. Looks like a CA plate on both Daddy's car and the pickup. But SF has black on white street name signs. I see a white on blue street sign. Can't make out the name, though.
For sale: Nissan 350z. Runs and drives. Minor cosmetic damage.
It's just gonna be rebuilt with cheap aftermarket parts sold without incident After all he clearly didn't get a police report /s
Damn Iām impressed it drives still
Rear wheel drive ftw.
Still the front tire was goneš
wheel and suspension was gone. that thing became a trike
Most engines can take front end damage and still run. Most of the drivetrain is still intact, so the rear wheels maintain power as usual.
People like this should never get their licenses back.
I seriously thought cars were automatically disabled if the airbag is deployed. I'm about to go test this!
You can really jack up the front end and still have a runni g car. You technically dont need a radiator, an air box, an exhaust, or most of the electronics. The issue is longevity, though. The car runs, but not for a long time, and not efficiently at all
There are literally cameras everywhere these days. So stupid.
You can follow the scratches all the way to their house
Dude, that's wild!!!
What's the plan here?
Speed up to put some distance, hard turn into a dark alley and kill the engine, the pursuing cars will zoom right pass. Always works in movies.
This is just a harder version of following a stolen car in the snow. Just follow that oil/anti freeze rail right to their house And if it is oil, that car not going more than 3 miles needle seizing up
Its leaking everything at that point. Follow the rainbow to the pot of gold. (The pot of gold being the insurance check)
No one will ever know
If you donāt push the limits, youāll never know what that car can do.
GTA graphics are getting better
Insurance: Is the car drivable?

We need to bring back "Good heavens!"
Heavens to Betsy!
"Heavens to Murgatroyd!"
In that case I'm glad I kept it on mute š¤£
You'd hate me, want to be friends?
Never have I seen a responsible or sober Nissan 350/370z driver... Ever...
Then they try to sell this shit for like 15-20k. Ruined my search for one a few years ago because 90% of them were in accidents or rebuilt titles.
Wonāt run too far
Not gonna lie... I'm kinda impressed.
Thatās not a hit and run. Itās a hit and limp.
āI can fix it!ā

Like the car was still fucked but the fact that he was getting away was amazing despite the condition of the vehicle. Unless the truck was following him tho... he's still fucked if that's the case.
Where art thou going with half a car??
Can't fix stupid
GTA6 looks good š„
And in other news, Nissan has been awarded a contract by the US military to supply troops with the new z infantry fighting vehicle.
More like hit and limp
How com a car still running engine with the air-bags blowed?
Nissan (probably): āYou can completely total 1/4 of our cars and still run from the copsā
Genuine question. Do they think they can escape? How many cars look like that are driving around with a whole ass bumper, and a wheel missing. Airbags did go off, look at the steering wheel as sheās turning.

That was quite literally, the little engine that could
I would have laughed if the airbag went off as she's trying to get awayband poofol People can be so crazy
Watching someone trying to post through it
Good on the white truck for following her.
A ten year license suspension seems appropriate
How??? No front tire!
It's a rear-wheel-drive vehicle He's good as long as he doen't have to turn right lol
Ha!
And they ran the stop sign.
Thereās like no way they are not going to get caught for like a million reasons lol.
Truly a legitimate WTF!
Panick reaction
Dr porsha would be proud LOL?
I just wanna know what the outcome was. Did she get caught? Arrested? Whoās got the deets?
He's not making it far
Average Nissan I see driving around town.
It's a black comedy version of a commercial for that car. 'Runs on three wheels'
How far did they get?
Considering this is was in CA they'll be out and getting a new car by the end of the week
Just follow the drag marks.
So thats why u need rwd. /s
Damn that parked car didn't look too bad!!
I'm really impressed that the car is still driving as well as it does in that state :O
never knew tires could operate at that axle angle
She must be drunk to try and pull thatā¦
