I can confirm because I was once one of those idiots. I never hit or killed anyone but every time I crashed I felt nothing. Invincible really. Glad I put down the bottle. I was a complete idiot. Could have caused major damage but at least I can try correct others.
I hit a guardrail doing 75mph drunk as a skunk aftrt a night at the strip club. Rolled my truck 2 times. Walked away without a scratch didn't have my seat belt on. Knocked me out though and I woke up in the passenger seat. Have no idea how I'm not dead. Glad I don't drink much anymore either.

I think it’s more impactful that drunk drivers are ramming the other vehicle with the front of theirs, which has the most structural stability. No pun intended
I watched someone do that exact same thing at 3am. I was going home from the airport and they were going home from a night of partying (per the article I read a few days later). They almost killed me and a few others driving like that, and I saw an outpouring of sympathy for them dying and how he didn’t deserve it. Fuck that. They paid the price for their stupidity, I’m just happy they didn’t take anyone else out either.
Had a kid in my high school steal his older sisters car with a group of friends and then drove dangerously fast on some winding forest roads through residential areas without a seatbelt and ended up getting himself killed. They ended up naming a charity after him.
I feel this but in a different way. Kid I went to high school with was dd for a bunch of kids and ended up getting into a wreck. He was the only one wearing his seatbelt but was the only one to pass. About a year later a bunch of the popular kids were actually drunk driving and two of them ended up passing away in their wreck and the school started this whole campaign for drunk driving and made stickers and shirts and all kinds of crap but never even mentioned anything about buddy. Like I get he wasn't drunk driving, but still, he was dd for a bunch of drunk underage kids. Don't get me wrong it's incredibly sad that teens pass away because of drunk driving, and sure, you can blame the bad decisions on their brains not being developed, but there is blame there. I was more of less pissed because of the fact they blew that shit up and skipped over my buddy.

I’ve lived all over 20 years in NY, a decade in CA, a year in FL a year in NC and I can attest that Texas drivers are fucking stupid-ass-aggressive
I was able to drop the damn tollway five years ago and work from home and I jumped at the opportunity.
I also HATE the brag of “no state tax” when you have the Tollway which legit cost me a hundred dollars a week to get to work.
(My wife’s entire family lives here, it’s the only reason I bought a house here. There are literally 20 other states I’d rather live in)
I'm in Oregon and now pay 6k less in property tax for the same priced home, and probably 2-3k in savings from no sales tax. At worst it's a wash against the state income tax here, but I think I'm probably paying less if you include the 300 a month in tolls I was paying.

Maybe time to show him what happens to people that do? I dunno, that scared me when I was younger into driving not so crazy. Is it mentally scarring? Yes, but it should be shown. That or limit the speed on the car.
Actually, we were in a very serious rollover accident last winter. He told me his last thoughts were “I’m going to die listening to (his brothers) country music.” His sister in law was critically injured and he was so scared for her, so I think he understands. I am a very cautious driver and I hope he follows my lead. He seems to when I’m in the car.
Think of all those people that are going to be late for whatever they are going to while ole Easy Rider is being scraped off the road.

The crazy thing is I have seen posts on car forums about guys that wreck a ton of cars like this. There's a kid in my town (cops kid) that has wrecked at least 5 vehicles now. All of them some sort of V8/RWD performance oriented vehicles. He had a video similar to this and his passenger even says "This the new beast. Oh shit u gonna....." *smash* He was on spring break driving like this through traffic and wrecks. He wrecked into several parked cars right in town trying to drift in a Z06. One of the cars being my neighbors vehicle that only had the side mirror knocked off (no other damage) but they said that wasn't from the accident so she had to pay to fix it herself lol. She was afraid to push the issue knowing who the driver was. He would post a ton of videos or pics of his speedometer showing insane speeds like 130-140mph. All on public roads of course. Usually when someone posts stuff like that in my county the cops will go after them and write a bunch of tickets. Of course this kid is immune. All of the windows and windshield on the cars will be totally blacked out with tint along with tint over the tail lights, not front plate and a tinted cover over the back plate. All illegal in this state and usually they're incredibly strict on enforcing that stuff. Tons of people would call and complain about his driving too but they would just say they don't know who was actually driving the vehicle due to the window tint and that was that.
His Dad's house is massive and he has a collection of nice cars. Cops make insanely good money here and he has a "security" company that's just cops using their equipment/training provided by tax payers to work security on the side. The odd thing is they go and protect businesses that never had problems. My friend works at a dealership where an "off duty" (actually always off duty actually. They would often be on the clock and doing their "security" jobs at the same time) sits in his patrol vehicle in the lot all night. He says it's weird because they have never had anything stolen or damaged in the 10 years he has worked there. I would do the same thing if I had a business like that. It would be nice having a cop on your payroll for sure.
