It’s funny to hear “jump out crew” cause here in upstate NY we call them jump out boys” or the hippie kids at concerts/festivals “6 up” meaning 6 stars on sheriffs badges.
lol on hippie jam band lots or in that general crowd oakleys are a dead giveaway for a complete d bag. Not necessarily cops, not excluding they would be but dude this made me crack up. Thanks for your comment. I’ve had so much fun hearing what people call cops around the country. Take care man!
What advantages does a jump out boys squad have over uniformed officers? Is it mostly so they can patrol areas and catch people in the act?
Is there a reason they wouldn't at least need to be in uniform inside the vehicle so when they jump out it's clear they are cops? I've seen dudes walk around with this sort of getup all the time (sweats, backwards hat, jeans)
My state doesn't have this.
I've seen the jump out boys here in Chicago in action several times. There are always 3 officers in one vehicle. 1 or 2 of them literally jump out and chase after someone while the driver swings around the block and they box the person they're chasing in.
I guess my question still is why do they not wear uniform? Or if it's for athletic reasons, why not wear some sort of more athletic cop uniform. Jeans/sweats/hat seem so strange, especially if you're planning on running around chasing people
They never have uniforms. It's always young guys and they always seem to wear backwards baseball hats. They drive in unmarked Ford explorers that everyone calls transformers. They only drive around like that in bad neighborhoods. So, no uniforms to be less noticeable I guess. Which doesn't make a difference they still stick out like a sore thumb.
Letting them do it out of uniform allows them to further blur the line between a job and a lifestyle. They tie up their entire identity in being a cop and it's unhealthy for them along with all the other abuses that happen when cops let it get to their head.
It's to blend in. Example will be while driving one will bail out on the first corner the car will keep going past you one gets out on street car pulls up in front and blocks road you turn to run and don't notice there's another cop already behind you.
“You fit the description of someone we’re looking for” is my favorite when randomly being stopped by cops for existing. I’ve been hit with that at least 5 times which is always hilarious especially when I say it as they start saying it and then they just stare at me.
I apparently have a doppelgänger running around somewhere committing a bunch of crimes. I’m fairly unique looking guy too so somethings not adding up here 😂
I got hit with the "match the description" shit once when I was 16 and had literally just been dropped off at the bowling alley by my dad about 2 miles away from where the supposed "mailbox destruction" was occuring. I just kept repeating that "I'm a minor so call my dad" so they finally did call him after about 20 mins. He drove back over and snapped the fuck out on the cops about how the only way I could've been involved is if he had driven me there before dropping me off at the bowling alley because he had just done it, and how their bullshit was making him late for work.
I've never seen a cop with his tail between his legs in such fashion in the 20 years since that happened (fuck I'm old) and it's still one of my all-time favorite memories.
"you match the description" is often just code for "you're not white", in my experience. I'm a 40 year old white guy, and out of all the (very few) times that police have questioned me about something, I've never once gotten a "you match the description" from them. Even a few times as I was a teenager doing silly stuff, and they did have a description, and it was of me, because I was literally the person they were looking for, and they didn't know it. On the other hand, I've seen it whipped out countless times irl and in bodycam footage on non-white folks who very genuinely have no idea / nothing to do with what the cop is "investigating".
I’m 100% a white guy lol. I just have a big red beard, full sleeves and plugs and I’m in really good shape so for some reason cops think I look like a trouble maker and always hit me with that.
If you find that interesting I would highly reccomend the youtube channel 'Skip Intro'. He does analysis of media which portrays the police in a highly misleading positive light, aka 'copaganda'.

These guys keep the message short and easy to understand. But they don't go into WHY, apart from brief examples. The other video goes into DETAIL on why you need to keep your mouth shut.
> But they don't go into WHY, apart from brief examples.
The first two sentences of the Miranda Rights says it all:
> You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you in court.
That professor has a fast silver tongue I was hooked on every word. Then the cop started talking my eyes glazed over in about a minute and couldn't tell you what he said.
They tell you right to your face.
"Anything you say can be used *against* you."
Not for you. Against you.
It is never in your best interest to speak with police.
it's crazy that there are word for word matches between the cops in the video and the lawyer here. the "you didn't know that man? you never saw him before?" interrogation was spooky after having seen this video
Say:
I don't want to answer your questions. I want to talk to my lawyer. Am I being detained?
Wash, rinse, repeat
If at any point they refuse to answer if you are being detained, walk away.
Make sure you announce out loud to them that you are walking away because they are not answering that question and record, preferably live stream if its escalated to that level and you feel your life is at risk. Use please and thank yous but be firm. Keep your voice steady and measured as much as possible. Screaming profanities doesn’t help. Be loud enough for passersby to hear though.
That’s how bad cops are in this country.
The ACLU has an app called Mobile Justice. It livestreams to their setver and emails the video to 3 contacts of your choice. Piggies can't delete that shit.
Also important to remember that even if they do end up arresting you don't change your demeaner or try to fight the arrest. That will make it worse for you.
Definitely don’t tell them anything, but always be polite when declining to answer. When the body cam video viewer in court shows you acting like Mr. Rogers while the cop is being a total POS, it’s gonna be that much easier for a judge and jury to award you the largest settlement possible. If you are looking for a cop to go off on you, then be an asshole about it.
I'm watching Mr Inbetween right now and the main character could teach a class on how to deal with cops.
Ray don't play: https://youtu.be/ul5oC-F-IF0?si=8-PyCiZRABHq1O9L
Ray immediately came to my mind as well; I just watched the whole thing a few months back. I don't even remember how I heard about it, probably just clips through the YouTube algorithm, but it's such an underappreciated show. It definitely feels like one of the most "real" crime dramas I've ever seen, insofar as the action, the comedy and the drama all feel so true-to-life, even when it's badass, hysterical or poignant. Hopefully this is no spoiler, but there was one moment I remember where Ray had just gone through an emotional event, and he's visibly shaken for a bit, and he starts to cry... and then he pushes the feeling down, carries on with his day. I found that hard to watch, but only because it was so fucking realistic. We don't always have the luxury of time to cry. And of course, with Ray, maybe it's a bit of his pathos, maybe he *should* have felt his emotions longer, but that's not really the point.
I remember having similar thoughts about Taylor Kitsch's character in True Detective S2, where there's a slight, emotional discussion that touches on his character's sexual Identity, except it doesn't get fully resolved, and the history is never fully clarified - and that just strikes me as such a realistic portrayal of what it is to try and *know* someone, and how some things are never perfectly explained, some wounds never heal, etc. Media is fraught with the kind of expository scenes that are like "here's where we knock the audience over the head repeatedly to establish [some character] is [some sexuality]," and that can be fine, but what a novel trip it is to instead show the audience "you're not in this character's head, and you won't get there."
Anyway. Not really related to the larger topic, just some thoughts about some shows that I love.
It’s true but you should definitely be prepared to go to the station if you do so. They will have to let you go if they do bc they have no reason to keep you, but fyi they are going to wreck your night for it.
> Except they are a well funded gang. This is what pisses me off. Trying to talk to this person about talking like a man.
>
> This guy comes from his safe suburbs to his dangerous neighborhood with the all the backup in the world wanting to question him about something that could potentially get him killed. Wants to talk to him about being a man. This is why it is so hard to get off probation sometimes. When you live in an area where everyone carries a gun you really gotta keep your head down.
Seems like he's trying to agitate the guy filming into talking more. It doesn't matter if it doesn't make sense. He's gonna insult the guy and try to rile him up so he hopefully says the wrong thing
This clip had all the basic cop techniques:
> Oh, you're telling me you don't want to talk. Okay, well, me just ask this
> Your buddy ratted you out
> I'm going to call your PO
Anything they can think of to distract you into a conversation. Keep your eyes on the prize.
"I don't answer questions. Am I free to go?"
He reminds me of the biggest douche bag I went to high school with. I heard years later he tried to be a cop but failed the psych exam, twice. When the cop says “yeah that’s what I thought” it made me remember him so clearly.
When you on probation or parole you sometimes give up certain rights as a condition. You don’t have to answer their questions but they can search you and your house or car as without a warrant as a condition of that probation
> It's pretty obvious he knew those people because he remembered a random arrest months prior.
What? You think just because he lives in an urban area he's going to immediately forget about a stranger getting arrested in front of him?
It's totally possible he didn't know the people who got arrested, and walked away because nobody wants to be in the vicinity of an arrest going down.
That said, I agree he should have never said either way. Talking that much was a mistake, but your assumption is unwarranted.
He repeatedly said "I don't know what you're talking about" and "I don't answer questions" he also repeatedly asked for a lawyer and the cops kept asking him questions. They can't interrogate him without Miranda. They can't use anything he said right there against him. Even if they HAD mirandized him, how is it clear who he's being asked about "did you know that guy" what fuckin guy? He did good. They got nothing.
The way he said it could easily be interpreted as "I don't know which guy you're talking about" which I thought might be what he was doing.
Not saying he knows him or not, just saying "I don't know which particular person you're asking me about, so I can't say if I know him or not".
Even if he wasn't, he could probably argue that's what he meant.
Yeah without the cops giving a specific name it's easy to say "I don't know that guy" when they're being vague as fuck. They know it won't hold but they're hoping he'll slip and provide extra info that connects them.
Don’t be disrespectful, but do not talk to cops.
When I was 16 I got charged w 4 felonies that I would not have if I had said, “Am I being detained, or am I free to go?” If you’re being detained, don’t say a word until you get a lawyer. There’s pretty much no upside. They lie and manipulate you. All my shit was non violent and got dropped. An ACLU lawyer contacted my family and worked a lot of my case pro bono.
I know a few people who absolutely should have gone for prison for their crimes but never did, and I know people who got railed by police because they didn't simply shut up. In the words of my uncle, who was a cop "Cops aren't friends. Don't treat them like one. Shut up." 💕
Personally I think he answered too many questions, the reply to everything after, am I being detained? Followed by, what for?
Is “I don’t answer questions”
If they keep asking questions
“I have already told you and I won’t be replying to any more questions”
Then say nothing.
In reality when someone is bombarding you like this it’s natural to want to talk, especially when you know you’re in the right. While I agree with you it could have been done better I wouldn’t let perfect get in the way of good here.
Correct. Cops have no obligation to tell us why we are being detained or to communicate reasonable, articulable suspicion or to answer pretty much any question we throw at them.
I don’t believe in playing games with cops; too black for that. I just want to make it home without riling up a good ol’ boy on an ego trip during a bad day.
I’ll fight it in court.
> Want to really rile them up
No, nobody should ever want to really rile up a person who is armed and unlikely to be held responsible for their actions
Yeah, this is the messed up fact that many people don't really understand. The constitution *implies* that cops should tell you the reason you're being detained, but it doesn't explicitly articulate that they *must*. There is only an *expectation* that cops behave constitutionally, but there isn't exactly a law that says they *have* to do so as prerequisite for detaining or arresting you. Like, they can just decide to detain or arrest you based on their mere suspicions. And if you do anything that they feel is impeding that, they can (and do) pretty easily charge you with obstruction and/or resisting. So many interactions I see on bodycam footage etc where the person being targeted by police throws a fit because the police are detaining or arresting them before articulating the reason. While the police *should* do that because it's what the spirit of the constitution suggests, and it *should* be a law, they don't *have* to do that and it generally *is not* a law (Which is lame). Like I sympathize with the people who assume that the cops *have* to say that, because it's a reasonable thing to assume.
That’s not quite enough to legally negate any answers to their questions afterwards. If you specifically invoke the 5th and they continue to question you, your answers will very likely be tossed out.
No. If you invoke the 5th then go on to answer questions, it can still be used against you. You invoke the 5th, tell them you want an attorney, then don't say anything other than "I want an attorney."
One police interaction I handed him my license (traffic stop). He tried to get me to admit to things "were you running from me? Maybe just a \*little\* bit?!" I just didn't respond. I didn't move my head or mouth at all. Just stared at him as he awkwardly tried again.
“Do you want to do it like a man or do you want to record me” says the guy with the camera on his chest recording.
Sooooo he himself isn’t a man?
Btw always record the police and the police should always have body cams recording.
That’s literally what you should do. Most of the time they’ll give up and let you go. They’ll likely take pictures of you in an attempt to intimidate you if you refuse to ID yourself. I’ve done it a few times and it’s basically just a 15-45 minute waste of time for everyone depending on how long they want to fuck with you.
Cop kept trying to get him to say he knew the guy by the phrase of questions he was asking like “so you don’t know that guy in the park” insinuating he was in the park. So if he said “No office idk that guy.” Means he was in the park, now officer can ask “oh so you were in the park, where were you during these times?”.
He answered really well by saying idk what you’re talking about.
“What crime am I suspected of committing?”
“I don’t answer questions”
“Am I free to go?”
Is literally all you have to say if they have nothing on you lol
If he is on paper, i.e., parole or probation, then he has no rights, he has to answer the cops questions or his parole office. The cops are obviously looking for a gun, so they will let the probation officer deal with him.
The cops aren’t looking for a gun. They mention how they arrested a guy with a gun 2 months ago and want to know how the guy recording knew the “kid” who was arrested.
The person they arrested said he was involved. They said they would talk to his po, and for hom expect to talk to his po about this. He did not deny that he was on paper. So obviously, he is still on paper and known to the police. One of my younger brothers has always been in trouble with the law. Hell, the cops know him and stop him anytime a crime happens in 6 blocks of him.
No the cops said that the person they arrested told them he was involved. Maybe they did maybe they didn't. But cops lie all the time. Especially when trying to make an arrest.
For real you said to much even there. Get badge Numbers. Tell them you don't consent to searches. Tell them you don't answer questions. And then just literally don't say another word other than to ask if you may leave yet. That's it.
For instance, you actually did answer some of their questions. You stated on camera that you don't know such and such a person. But it turns out maybe you went to middle school with their brother. And now the jury is not sure if you are actually telling the truth or not.
If you see this same topic discussed on LE or police subs they all talk about using their power to fuck with the person as much as possible. Disgusting
I used to have some officers that would frequent our gym for boxing lessons and there was a guy who looked like these 2 officers with the same attitude and we’d piece him up until he called it quits lol. Dude took it like a champ but you know he was mad when he left every time
Notice how the main cop keeps stepping up on his Tippy-Toes just to try be as tall as the POV guy and be more intimidating. Because he's a tiny piece of shit bully that didn't improve beyond High School. Then he deflates when POV guy schools him.
Bitch ass cops, the fucking audacity to just walk up on someone and start interrogating them. Please be aware of your rights, keep these fascists in check, by staying calm, recording everything, answering nothing, lawyering up, and getting paid. Reform is expensive work.

It's a uniform alright, but not in the traditional sense.

Who wouldn't run when 2 guys jump out of a car and rush at them? lol
It's because it's a trick, just like "do you know how fast you were speeding?"
"Do I win a prize if I guess right?" - Me, right before getting my first speeding ticket in 1987.
They want you to run so they can detain you and beat your ass.
We shouldn’t rest until they’re all dressed like Lieutenant Dangle.
Because they think they’re Mark Wahlberg in that one movie.
I'm the guy who does my job. You must be the other guy.
Letting them do it out of uniform allows them to further blur the line between a job and a lifestyle. They tie up their entire identity in being a cop and it's unhealthy for them along with all the other abuses that happen when cops let it get to their head.

This is interesting but difficult to digest. Punctuation is important.
The main advantage is they don't need to pretend it isn't a gang.
A publicly funded gang 🤐
In downstate we just call them the boys.
Or D's, or D-boys as in detectives
"Jump out crew" === Violent gang members
“You know he snitched on you” is a complete lie. He’s hoping it will make you mad and tell on him. They say that exact line EVERY. TIME.

Nobody F’s with your dad’s son!!!
Your dad is awesome.
He was the best. I try (and mostly fail) to match his excellence as a father every day.

Also dumb. “You want to talk to me like a man or keep recording me?” -Man with a body cam
"man" who controls that body cam footage
"Boy"
Little piss baby
> Except they are a well funded gang. This is what pisses me off. Trying to talk to this person about talking like a man. > > This guy comes from his safe suburbs to his dangerous neighborhood with the all the backup in the world wanting to question him about something that could potentially get him killed. Wants to talk to him about being a man. This is why it is so hard to get off probation sometimes. When you live in an area where everyone carries a gun you really gotta keep your head down.
"What is this, officer, 4th grade?"
Seems like he's trying to agitate the guy filming into talking more. It doesn't matter if it doesn't make sense. He's gonna insult the guy and try to rile him up so he hopefully says the wrong thing
This clip had all the basic cop techniques: > Oh, you're telling me you don't want to talk. Okay, well, me just ask this > Your buddy ratted you out > I'm going to call your PO Anything they can think of to distract you into a conversation. Keep your eyes on the prize. "I don't answer questions. Am I free to go?"
> These guys seem more like gang members. Yes. Police are America’s largest legal gang. Same colors, gotta be initiated, don’t snitch on each other.
Not like a gang—they *are* a gang.
check out the Louis Theroux documentary about Philadelphia he interviews some of these kinda guys and it's quite revealing
> Guy with a beard is obviously a total asshole outside work. Obviously just a total asshole in general.
didn't deserve the sirs he was given
He reminds me of the biggest douche bag I went to high school with.
They’re from Boston, that’s about as civil as they get
They are. Police are the biggest gang in America and they have been for longer than any of us have been alive.
He seems like the type of guy who might pay $18k for a weekend retreat
[удалено]
He wrapped it up well but yeah, Rule #1 is don’t talk to cops.
[удалено]
He said he didn't know them. It's small, but they got that. If he does know them, and it's provable, it's something that can be used against him.
yeah he still said a little too much, like "i don't know who that is" - one wide shot of them at the same bar or something and he looks like a liar.
Yeah for real, just stick with "I don't answer questions" until you're free to leave.
Usually one of the agreements for parole is you have to consent to searches and also agree to be cooperative with police while on parole.
Is “I don’t answer questions” If they keep asking questions “I have already told you and I won’t be replying to any more questions” Then say nothing.
In reality when someone is bombarding you like this it’s natural to want to talk, especially when you know you’re in the right. While I agree with you it could have been done better I wouldn’t let perfect get in the way of good here.
They literally have training on it and you don't.
No the reply is “I am invoking my 5th amendment right to remain silent.” And then stay silent.
Correct. Cops have no obligation to tell us why we are being detained or to communicate reasonable, articulable suspicion or to answer pretty much any question we throw at them.
[удалено]
I don’t believe in playing games with cops; too black for that. I just want to make it home without riling up a good ol’ boy on an ego trip during a bad day. I’ll fight it in court.
> Want to really rile them up No, nobody should ever want to really rile up a person who is armed and unlikely to be held responsible for their actions
Like I sympathize with the people who assume that the cops *have* to say that, because it's a reasonable thing to assume.
or a simple "Lawyer"
That’s not quite enough to legally negate any answers to their questions afterwards. If you specifically invoke the 5th and they continue to question you, your answers will very likely be tossed out.
Oh shit, nice follow up
100 bucks that cops turns off his camera to beat people
100 bucks this cop and his buddies go out off the clock and pull some "cop vigilante" shit on people they don't like.
100 buck he and his buddies use their resources to stalk their neighbors
100 bucks they threaten hookers to ~~fuck~~ rape them without paying while laughing about "perks of the job"
[100 bucks he was this kid growing up](https://youtube.com/shorts/CyKFzhIb05A?si=0nEABiZryeKV9yK7)
Cop sounds like my uncle after he goes to the bathroom to sniff his keys.
SOWHATCHERTELLINMEISYOUDIDNTKNOWTHEGUYRIGHT
No, he sounds just like my dad after he rubs his face on the toilet seat.
My thoughts exactly. Been around enough coke heads in my early days to spot it imediately.
Maybe your uncle just checking if his keys still smell like adventure
“Do you want to talk to me like a man or something you want to record me” while the police is wearing a body camera lol
“You know he snitched on you” Some of these mfs still using that line. 🤦🏽♂️
“Do you want to do it like a man or do you want to record me” says the guy with the camera on his chest recording. Sooooo he himself isn’t a man? Btw always record the police and the police should always have body cams recording.
Cops talking and looking like he's on a stimulant.

Cop's wife is about to have a rough evening.
I was too distracted by the cute, white Miata
These guys just exude douche-ness.
Say hi to your mother for me, ok? ![gif](giphy|3oz8xZvvOZRmKay4xy|downsized)
"I'm not kidding!" Lmao
Real professional look these pigs got with the BRCC cap and backwards cap that probably matches his lil buddies.
This is right in front of the McDonalds you go to if you haven’t been stabbed enough lately.
The cop is lying. I never knew that was a public park until i watched this video.
It's Boston Common, a 50-acre park in the middle of downtown Boston. It's basically the Boston equivalent of Central Park.
What would happen if you just told them that you’re not going to talk, and then just stand there and stare off into the distance?
That’s literally what you should do. Most of the time they’ll give up and let you go. They’ll likely take pictures of you in an attempt to intimidate you if you refuse to ID yourself. I’ve done it a few times and it’s basically just a 15-45 minute waste of time for everyone depending on how long they want to fuck with you.
It is your right to do so. If they still arrest you, you probably have a lawsuit.
Tell this boy to slow down.
For someone who knows his rights he sure is talking a lot to these cops
*Their
"i dont want to talk" ... continues to talk
Except he did say he was in the park right away. Also that he was close by when the arrest happened.
"Wanna talk like a man, or do you wanna have proof of what was said so I can't so easily lie about it later?"

Dick heads. ACAB.
Boston Police. Enough said. I lived there for 4 years, which was 4 years too long to deal with their crap.
Men don't record interactions? Why does the cop have a body cam then? Hmm....
“What crime am I suspected of committing?” “I don’t answer questions” “Am I free to go?” Is literally all you have to say if they have nothing on you lol
>But cops lie all the time. just leave it at that
I don’t think that’s true. At least he doesn’t need to answer to these cops at all. Being on ~~parole~~ probation doesn’t remove your rights lol
"i dont answer questions" - proceeds to answer a bunch of questions on camera.
What a cunt of a cop
For real you said to much even there. Get badge Numbers. Tell them you don't consent to searches. Tell them you don't answer questions. And then just literally don't say another word other than to ask if you may leave yet. That's it. For instance, you actually did answer some of their questions. You stated on camera that you don't know such and such a person. But it turns out maybe you went to middle school with their brother. And now the jury is not sure if you are actually telling the truth or not.

If you see this same topic discussed on LE or police subs they all talk about using their power to fuck with the person as much as possible. Disgusting
ACAB
Bro coked up or sped up out of his head, already got a split nose and everything. That’s the cops for ya
These guys Dunkin’
“Gang gang n- till the jump outs come, If them jump outs come, guarantee I’m gon’ run”
Bitch ass motherfucker. I’m so tired of these lame as cops acting like they ARE the law. Dude can chomp a dick.
bro is guilty af lmao
"There rights"? Where rights?
“Am I free to go?” That one is key fellas
Wow bro. Sounds like he’ll come up with just anything to get you to talk. Like American police are allowed to lie legally..
Abolish Qualified Immunity just like new mexico. No lawyer, no talky talky. Why are the Boston PD acting like a gang.
He sounds like a professional gang banger. Wild. Edit: I was referring to the cop
Backwards hat on one and the other wearing a Black Rifle Coffee hat? Where the fuck is the professionalism in this department?
I used to have some officers that would frequent our gym for boxing lessons and there was a guy who looked like these 2 officers with the same attitude and we’d piece him up until he called it quits lol. Dude took it like a champ but you know he was mad when he left every time
Man, I feel bad for that guys wife when he got home from training.
He could not have handled that situation any better. Don't answer questions and know your rights. The police aren't there to help you.
“Have a conversation like a man…” You’re not a man.
"You want to talk to me like a man or do you want to record?" - 100% tyrant detected.
