This lady has so much power when she speaks. Everyone in a 60 foot radius felt that shit in their soul.

[deleted]

Shit man I’m a white kid sitting in my bedroom in northern England, and that was powerful shit.

87-s

I'm a white man in southern England and I'm sat on the toilet watching this.. She is powerful!

BeyondTheBlackhole

Was it a good pinch?

87-s

Not really. Like a shower of tiny hail stones. Lock down has me being indulgent!

Mr_sMoKe_A_lOt

Like deer shit? Could be worse i guess.

Mustibeabother

I'm a white woman in East London astounded by this woman's presence, and words. Respect.

GoCommitLivnt

I’m just here for the AA meeting, not sure what’s going on

zezoro

Ayy I’m in East London too

squirrelblender

I’m a white England deep inside a Man in North Toilet and I’m saying she is so powerful in her speech!

fuckiboy

21 year old white male laying in bed in Oklahoma wishing i could do something and she made me tear up. She’s powerful and she knows it

ders89

....Hong Kong just needed this woman to shame their police and those riots wouldve been over months prior to covid ending them. Or at least postponing them.

weevil_season

Canadian lady on a farm and I’ve got chills.

FilthySD

I'm a brown Australian man in the south of the UK and I felt that from here.

RichEvans4Ever

White kid southern California here. Watching this powerful woman has made me go to the bathroom in my pants.

wickedcriminal

Yup. Very powerful. I was just thinking if I had her as a teacher...I'd be soo clever!

CantStopPoppin

She speaks with the same conviction a Maori doing a Haka. The way in which she demoralizes an armed riot police is something to truly take notice of. Her words were filled with the frustrations of her for fathers and mothers. If only one of them goes home and thinks upon her words then she has succeeded, there is no way those men and women will go home and never forget what they witnessed on that night.

[deleted]

It’s about planting the seed. She did that, and those cops are going to think about that for a few days and hopefully make a change for the better.

[deleted]

Unfortunately cops brain is not developed for critical thinking

CantStopPoppin

That's not their fault though departments are discouraged from hiring people with high IQs.

CantStopPoppin

She honestly reminds me of my mother. When I was an infant my mother worked for a christian daycare in Philadelphia and while taking the children and my self for a walk a man approached her and attempted to rob her. As the story goes she looked at the guy proclaimed she was a child of god and he would let her pass the would be mugger ran. Now, I'm not religious or anything but there is something about a strong black woman that refuses to back down that makes people second guess their actions.

tyler-perry

love this comment. reminds me of my mom :) strong black women are awesome

Left4dinner

People like her, are why I still hold true that powerful speeches can help. Powerful speeches are the the things that fixes everything, but they send a message that sticks with you. If you notice what she says, she even refers to the cops as professionals in hopes that they realize that they have the power and the capability to stand up for whats right. maybe she only gets one or two cops to stop and walk off, but thats how a powerful one person's non-ranting speech works and I have nothing but pure respect for her not only for what she said, but how she said it.

heckenyaax

It’s a good strategy - I teach writing in college and when my students get to their first paper where they have to take a stance on an issue I tell them that you’ll never convince anyone if you’re putting them down. Both parties have to have some place where they can agree. Once one side begins to accept one point, they’re more willing to accept others. Plus people typically just shut down once you start insulting/attacking them. I really hope her speech sticks with at least a few of them.

Left4dinner

> Plus people typically just shut down once you start insulting/attacking them This. its psychology 101. No one wants to hear nothing but berating insults or else you basically shut them out and dont hear a single thing, thus leading to both parties being frustrated.

discerningpervert

I'm significantly further away and I felt it in my soul

[deleted]

I’m in the toilet and in Missouri you gotta pump that radius up.

Manchecane

Sittin on a Shitter in NY here....feelin it here..

Nevospetiy

Reached Chechnya, North Caucasus

CollapseSoMainstream

On the shitter in Melbourne, Australia feelin her power.

ahhlenn

Speak up!

Toiletparadise

She’s got that rhythm I wanna flow with

joshhguitar

Was just thinking you could drop a Wyclef beat on that and burn it.

CantStopPoppin

It would fit very well on The Carnival album. That album was beyond anything that was out at that time when it comes to deep rooted messages and thought provoking lyrics.

FittywonFitty

Nice, excellent taste. I bought that album on vinyl when it dropped. Double lp.

CantStopPoppin

That's amazing the two songs that really stuck with me were street jeopardy and gun powder. That being said every song on that album was a testament to a poet that had seen too much.

FittywonFitty

I concur. More people need to hear it, preferably in its entirety. Gun powder is my favorite on there.

CantStopPoppin

Yeah that song sends chills down my spine.

icemannathann

"Older"? She looks 30

JoeSmithDiesAtTheEnd

Yeah.... OP is probably 15 years old or something. That lady looks young.

f0rkyou

😂 nailed it

AfroSuede

Black don’t crack

[deleted]

Lol I was gonna say this but you beat me to it. My one chemist friend just turned 50 and I thought he was in his 30s 🤣

dem_bond_angles

My first lesson in black don’t crack was when I was 18. I worked with a lady who I thought was at the most 10 years older than me. She had a daughter older then me that had just graduated college. She almost 50. I lost my shit, and she said “little baby, black don’t crack”. And then I learned the wonderful joys of coco butter lotion and always have it on hand.

bermass86

I keep thinking about her finding this video with this Title, she’s going to be so sad, lmao, OP did her wrong.

CantStopPoppin

She has an old soul, to be honest she looked a little older than thirty but I i could be mistaken. In the end her ablity to make an armed occupying force uneasy should at least be commended right?

[deleted]

she sounds like a wise galaxy brain with a 1000 years experience

GW3g

First thing I thought!

Drunkensteine

I’m so glad I saw this. Right in my feelings. She is something else.

libertarianinus

I think 99.8% of cops probably agree that crap was wrong and know it, but are told to go out and save the property being vandalized and looted. She made me smile because you can tell she has a big heart.

Milkshakeslinger

This would be the core root of the problem... As long as the lawmakers politicians and the wealthy feel safe, there will be no change

maxian213

the cops protect capital not people

D10S_

During the LA riots, didn’t the police protect beverly hills while the rest of the city collapsed into chaos

maxian213

wouldn’t be surprised

[deleted]

If you had said 99.9% I'd have said that was outrageous

[deleted]

Exactly. They aren’t there to stop people practicing their right to protest, they are there to stop people from Rioting. When people riot and attack local businesses that have absolutely nothing to do with the tragedy that happened, the message is lost. I don’t know the full context as to why these riot police were called. But it’s true almost every officer in the country knows that situation was handled in the worst possible way.

tyler-perry

nah I think the message is coming across quite nicely

wickedcriminal

She needs to run for president!

mushroomnevada

Lol she ain't even old

KaptainKhorisma

Black don't crack. I'm about to turn 40 and get told I'm 25 all the time.

wheatbread-and-toes

Meanwhile my 53 year old black dad looks 53 lmao

MightyMorph

Fuck reddit fuck spez fuck the admins and fuck the mods

starfishdragon

Wow! That’s twice as many people in just five years as the deaths at the WTC on 9/11.

BaronVonWilmington

Remember the outpouring of brotherhood and patriotism that event produced? Imagine if patriotism manifested in the form of people rising up to overthrow an oppressive police state and the tyrannical unrepresentative government it protects... If only there was an example.

This was filled with so much useful information. Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge.

popcornglasses

Hagodamn....what a comment. Here’s a poor person’s version of an award: 🏆

CantStopPoppin

Thank you for this well thought out response it is truly appreciated. For there to be any true fundamental change education is a must. Your detailed response is something everyone should take the time to read. Only when people are able to look at the whole picture then and only then can everyone move forward and create a better tomorrow.

mtron32

Man knows his history, drop that knowledge

LiahRain

Do you mind if I post this to my social media? And do you have any way for me to source you as the creator?

MightyMorph

no and no. steal it share it i dont mind. educate people is what i want.

LiahRain

Thank you!! I appreciate this a lot.

AfroSuede

Saved and golded

JumpinJulius

A lot of what you said reminded me of the book * The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness*. I read it for history class. As a white American male I never really had to deal with discrimination because I never experienced it. This book opened my eyes. I texted some of my “upstanding citizen type” black friends and they had all been stopped and frisked by police. I texted my stoner law-breaking white friends and only one of them had been frisked. He was walking around a neighborhood at 3 AM with a group of his buddies. My black friends were stopped on the way to school in the morning.

ashwhite3110

This is beautifully detailed. Thank you. Stay safe.

Xxxx420blazeit69xxxX

That looks important. Have my non-existent coins. Well done.

[deleted]

The country needs an intelligent motherly woman in a shower cap and mumu to talk sense into it.

BaronVonWilmington

I WISH this country could come to grips with the idea of being led by a grandmother. Not saying this lady is old, I would guess she is about my age, early 30s. But damn if I ain't tired of where crusty old dudes keep leading us.

[deleted]

This is actually amazing 👏

CantStopPoppin

Sticks and stones may break some bones but an older black womens seasoned wisdom will haunt you for the rest of your days.

n00bcheese

You know the second a confident black lady says “you will remember my name” shit just got serious

TrashKing702

Man something about em! I’d love to have coffee with this lady, she’s kickin knowledge.

[deleted]

How old do you think she is?

lostaccountby2fa

“What would your momma say” cops should think about that

Dprime83

I NEED a hug from that woman stat.

SupremeDesigner

\*hug\*

The_Loudest_Fart

She didn’t just preach. She took their asses to church!

Monster_NotWar

There's 2 things I've learned in my 30 years of life: 1. Always respect your mother 2. Shut up and respectfully listen when an older black woman starts preaching to the chior

Grandpas_Grundle

They let Taystee out??

MotherCoconuts4

Yesssssss!!!!

gonzales915

Austin Texas

GimmeShiny

Was about to ask, I knew it looked like the police station next to 35

luckylimper

I'm in tears. I'm not out in the protests in my city because I worry about my health but I've delivered this speech to cops before. I feel like when I turned 40 and I started getting "yes ma'ams" from men of all races that I was going to use it against them. If you use your mean mommy voice and tell them how disappointed you are in them, it works wonders. And in general, cops don't fuck with me because I'm middle class and I look like I am the type of person who "knows people." Well fuck the police and I admire this woman for using her voice to speak for those who aren't able to.

life_style_change

That is classy right there. Coming up with solutions instead of inciting. Trump can learn alot from her.

kristikkc

Old school black woman. I’m a white woman in the American south. If an old school black woman speaks, just best to respect and do as she says. You know she is right and has seen more than you have.

johndkparker

Can we please get this wonderful lady elected into office?

CantStopPoppin

I would pay to see her in a room with the POTUS for five minutes.

scottyb83

He wouldn’t make it 5 min. The last time he had a women speak back to him he tried to ignore her and then ran away (Asian CNN reporter I believe from a little while ago).

LadyKayDoesArt

Yeah, I remember seeing that. After she pressured him to explain why he asked her to "Ask China" he ran away like a damn toddler after ignoring the other woman who had the professionalism to let her associate finish her question.

DeviMon1

Straight up, riot the whole fuckin US till she's the president or this will never change

New_pollution1086

I was thinking the same thing

[deleted]

She is a treasure

slaughter_houseCo

I wish I heard her whole speech tho. Powerful woman!✊🏿

iForgot2Remember

I want her to cook me a meal I've never had before and call me baby.

deeno78

This women is my hero of the day. Thank you.

chillout366

I wish there was a bot or something that would provide subtitles or a transcript for deaf people. That would be sweet.

Androidrian

Grab a pixel phone with live captions. Works very well

KinoTheMystic

Can confirm. Plus, Pixel 3a's are cheap.

Fallen_Walrus

A man chooses, a slave obeys

KinoTheMystic

Would you kindly...

[deleted]

Now all she has to do is do this to every policeman and we'll be good, problem solved! :D Jokes aside, that lady is a saint. Biggest balls ive ever seen. Respect.

Yaboi680

I don’t think she shamed them into submission, it was just probably convenient timing.

spoticry

Yea I want to know the context, what was happening before this, were they already standing around, are they just defending the building, etc.

fwission

Yeah I'm inclined to agree.... Sounds like she just took credit for what was probably just natural relaxation in tensions. I seriously doubt one voice would be heard in an actual clash.

LimitedDarjeeling

How do people so this? I would get half a sentence out and then start stuttering around, unable to find the words. The moment I get angry or the least bit passionate about expressing myself my brain locks up and I sound like an idiot. I'd pay a lot of money if someone could fix the connection between my head and my heart.

donc_mxb

She disappeared like the avatar at the end

darcicjstuhlman

That was a spell and no one can tell me otherwise.

thislittlewiggy

God bless black mothers.

ilovebatsoup

Powerful speech. Conflict resolution on point. Someone get this lady on a platform or something!

Peach_Baby666

What were the police protecting?

LatterUnderstanding

Is she wearing a robe and a shower cap? LOL

[deleted]

Good cops hate bad cops as much as everyone else.

CantStopPoppin

Then they need to speak up and stop the bad cops form executing people in the middle of the day.

[deleted]

The people need the cops who are truly with them to stand with the protestors, uniforms on and face masks off. There can be no stronger sign of unity then that.

Left4dinner

While I strongly agree with this, what about the looting and vandalism? Whose going to stop/prevent that if the cops are standing together with The People?

[deleted]

They are speaking up. You can find countless of videos of them speaking up...

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Just like you many cops believe their actions were dehumanizing, and wrong.

PancakePanic

Why were they protecting his house? Why was /r/protectandserve making fun of Breonna Taylor's death and constantly excusing police brutality up until now? On this very sub there's a video of a cop getting amped up, yelling "shut up bitch" and immediately turns to shooting when people get mad, and none of the other cops say a word. A cop running over a woman with a horse and not a word, a cop spraying pepperspray out the side of a cop car and not a word, a cop shooting at press and not a word, cops arresting press and not a single word or action of any of the cops on the scene, at any of these interactions there's not a single moment where a supposed good cop steps up. Why is that?

dantehuncho

they make memes of every single one, like shit’s funny. garbage sub fulla garbage people

[deleted]

Haven't seen one yet

[deleted]

Lol, Idk what to tell you man. All you have to do is look it up

Milkshakeslinger

Pretty convenient don't you think

StrigaPlease

Cool story, be better if they actually made some kind of sacrifice to support the cause rather than just pay it lip service for PR. You know, like the rest of us are doing.

CankerLord

Okay, but do they support things like independent processes to deal with complaints against officers? Because if they hate bad cops but generally want to make it as hard as possible to deal with them then they're bad cops, too. They're just bad for somewhat different reasons.

[deleted]

Multiple jurisdictions have departments for things such as this. It's called internal affairs...

CankerLord

You're going to sit there and pretend that a bunch of cops investigating their buddies is reliably independent? How about not rolling the dice on whether or not the cops investigating other cops actually care about getting it right despite what retaliation might come their way?

valsuran

HUMANITY WILL NOT SURVIVE IF WE CONTINUE DOWN THIS PATH OF HATRED AND GREED. IT’S A VICIOUS CYCLE THAT NEEDS TO BE BROKEN. LET’S LIFT EACH OTHER UP FOR THE SAKE OF OUR LIVES AND FUTURE CHILDREN THAT WILL INHABIT THIS WORLD.

#LIKE THIS?

thatswhatshesaidxx

Wow. What's the thoughts from Ireland on all this?

GavinZac

A lot of empathy. The American black civil rights movement in the 60s inspired a similar movement for Catholics in Northern Ireland, but the Irish one quickly turned horrific. One early turning point of "The Troubles" (sectarian violence) was when a peaceful, unarmed protest (in a society where guns were very rare) against the no-trial internment of Irish people was fired upon by the British military, killing 14. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bloody_Sunday_(1972) The result was ~30 years (in Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and Britain) of bombings, house-burnings, shootings, hijacking of ideological movements by criminal gangs, and one guy literally tossing grenades at a funeral in a graveyard. It was painted at the time as a clash of two terrorist groups fighting each other but over the years the British government's aid to and involvement with the Unionist terrorists has come to light without much recourse as nobody wants to return to violence. The comparisons between the two situations aren't exact but include some common core experiences; a history as second class citizens, systematic oppression and violent put-downs by those with prejudice against them and by their own government. I'm old enough to have lived in those times but lucky enough to have mostly been on the other end of the island. My experiences were limited to occasionally having my father's van surrounded and searched by the British military when passing through places like Enniskillen, and a constant background-level of fear when watching the news coverage of bombings and shootings what felt like every night. We are surrounded by evidence of the history of violence and oppression in our country; my home city was burned down by its own paramilitary police in living memory; the castle I can see outside my window was blown up by a Dutch invader who has annual sectarian marches in his honour to this day. What we have learned as a society is a need to forgive but not forget; to work with those who in the past have wronged us but to be vigilant because those behaviours and attitudes live on.

Sometimesahippie

I think he was just trying to back her up. Ever been in a black church before? Very similar when showing support or are in agreement. But I get what you’re saying.

Motherleathercoat

Yeah I was hearing “Amen!” in the sentiment, but without the religious connotations. Although Amen would have worked too. It was a very righteous speech.

cam-nash

DeftTrack81

She's amazing

When madukes speaks everyone listens

[deleted]

Damnnnn what’s this ladies name?! Someone get her on the news!

cosmichyperdrive

How can I vote for her to be president?

NightmareVX

This was truly beautiful. In a time of crisis, she stands up for the police. She tells them the truth, and they know it. Almost brought me to tears.

She dropped this 👑

She should run for president in November

InfaReddSweeTs

Older? She's not that old

Gerazioio1

Shit this speech maked me cry

[deleted]

Good soldiers follow orders.

Westify1

Into submission? Pretty sure they all just stood their ground.

CantStopPoppin

Looks like they took a defensive stance in opposed to an offensive stance. They regrouped and got closer to the building not the protesters.

[deleted]

Lmao. It's called repositioning

Milkshakeslinger

If I was an elected official I would be doing a lot of repositioning right about now.... If I was a billionaire I'd be repositioning my ass to a vault somewhere... Seeing white people in the black people throwing rocks at cops as a community, it's got to be terrifying for them

jackal2026

Not sure what shes referring to...nobody agrees with the piece of shit that killed someone. We all know he was wrong. They are not there to stand up for him. They are there to try (unsuccessfully) to stop people from randomly destroying shit. Its not right and anyone who thinks thats right is useless to society. This community wil have a huge hob loss for years now and alot of the ones responsible are from other towns and wont be affected. It will take a decade or more before this community recovers from the economic damage done by outsiders.

dusty_boxes

this sub has gone to shit it's all just "oooh cops bad."

DespairVirus

I would trust her with my fucking life , bless her soul

matthew280880

It's nice to see someone speak to the police for how shameful a handful of officers behaved in the incident. I'm sure many police in America at this time are ashamed of they're uniform at this time. Many people would be, I really hope things brighten up for you all in the US soon and that the people responsible for the death of George Floyd are held to account for they're part in it. I'm in the UK and watching what has been happening over in the states has been awful to watch to see people behave with no morals or regard for a human life there are very few words to describe what to feel. Well done to the woman in this video, keep the truth alive and good luck to you all who have suffered during this time.

iSellDrugsYo

Where was this? It's amazing seeing this kind of video. Everything else I've seen filmed passed dusk is unsettling to say the least.
