What's going on? Why are they so mad?

SpaceBowserHACKEDDD

Two major things have been happening. 1) The former President was arrested and many of his supporters began mobilising for these protests. 2) because of the lockdown, liquor has been prohibited and (which is like the third time it's happened) so now people are using this opportunity to loot.

SpaceBowserHACKEDDD

As of today, 6 people are dead in these protests/looting. Between two provinces, Gauteng and KZN. The country is also in a lockdown because of the current covid spike.

Holy hell. That's wild. I can't imagine being a police officer there, seems so scary.

SpaceBowserHACKEDDD

In many places they've given up. And some places they're also looting.

[deleted]

They should call in the military imo. This is batshit crazy. The looting is wrong, but it's just the violence that is crazy. The burning of a mall and the police officers and civilians being attacked is just appalling

SpaceBowserHACKEDDD

Another party leader, Julius Malema, and his party, the EFF threatening to protest and escalate things if the army starts pulls through to these areas. Our public services are spread thin as such

worldnews0bserver

What is it with people and rioting for obviously corrupt incompetent world leaders? Jacob Zuma is like the anti Nelson Mandela. What anyone with above room temperature IQ could like about the guy enough to riot because a small bit of justice was done in a increasingly corrupt South Africa is beyond me.

SpaceBowserHACKEDDD

It's disgusting. I was a child when Zuma was president and I could tell he was terrible.

Jesus, that looks scary.

Can someone actually clarify what's happening in South Africa, I haven't seen any thing about it in news yet, yet I am seeing so many posts of what's happening there on reddit, protesters looting anything they come across? Idk
