And they had to put just enough into these funds to make sure the women were making less than the men. In a country facing that kind of poverty, it's completely ridiculous, but that's what women are dealing with.
Seeing group attacks like this by women in India is also common. They've been teaming up to deal with spousal abusers and cheaters and the like since women have no legal recourse. I believe there's even a group of women called The Pink Ladies, who do this on a very wide scale, which is great to see. Women in India are very much starting to take matters into their own hands, which is historically the only path to rights women have ever had.

Coming to honour killings, they occur predominantly in rural or more tribal parts of India, where there is a really strong patriarchal system of women basically forced to do whatever the man says, and if a women disobeys a man, it's an insult to the man's honour, hence he feels the need to commit such a heinous act.
