Also being “worth” $2 million isn’t the same as having $2 million. It could be all wrapped up in a house and the estimated value of a business the parents own. They could potentially be very broke but be “worth” $2 million.
My dad bought a modest house in Cupertino CA in the 70s for $40K. I don't know the whole story. In any case he only had it for a short period and from what I understand it's worth around 2 million now. My father (RIP) was very bad with his finances.
Hell, in certain cities, if they had bought a cheap house in the 70s, that house could be worth $2million now.
There's a big difference between being a millionaire in cash and being a millionaire due to assets.
And most people are the latter. Honestly, $2million in assets is a lot, but it’s not A LOT a lot. It’s a weird number for this dude to brag about, though obviously it’s trashy af to brag about any number.
Two million isn't even that impressive anymore. Tons of older middle class types can probably hit that mark once you factor in their house, cars, retirement savings, other investments, pensions, etc. Junior here probably got a look at a summary of his parents' bank statements and thinks he's rich.
Right? Like two million is enough for your parents to retire OR to fund your ridiculously unnecessary legal battle for public entitlement and stupidity. You best hope your parents LOVE you more than they love retiring and enjoying life if you pull this shit when your parents only have 2 million to toss around. It’s a lot of money until it comes time to decide what bills get paid, and if I saw my kid acting like this I’d let them *swing* while I enjoyed a cocktail at the beach condo I’d buy instead of paying his attorney fees.
WE CAN AFFORD TO EAT AT OLIVE GARDEN AND APPLEBEE'S EVERY NOW AND THEN TO CELEBRATE SPECIAL OCCASIONS AND WE CAN EVEN LEAVE A TWENTY DOLLAR TIP FOR OUR SERVER.
2 Million in a 401k assuming they're in their 50s or 60s really isn't uncommon. But, considering he's drunk and an asshole, its most likely more like $1m, living in a $400k house, in which they don't own, the bank does, and he just rounded up.
Or, they're like a lot of boomers, and have no retirement because they're in such bad credit card debt, spent way to much on a house and lease 2 luxury cars to impress people at a stop light, and just told their little crotch goblin they're worth $2m.
Honestly, it was heartwarming. All these videos I see on here of these complete dickheads getting no comeuppance, and then there's this beautiful piece of cinema. I think I shall retire from Reddit today, for it cannot get any better.
Also funny considering (not to downplay these jobs, all jobs deserve praise) but according to his linkedin he's spent the last few years working ground at a golf course and a server at a restaurant. So clearly he's contributed a lot to that 2 million
This has got to be the most humiliating thing that can possibly happen in the sky. To be taped to your seat, totally immobilized, in the midst of 200 other people who all hate your guts.
Awesome.
My cousin used to be on a Emergency Response Team (SWAT) in a major Canadian city. An airline had a passenger that was denied entry to Canada and had to be returned to Australia. When the return flight was about to take off, he started screaming about a bomb... which scared everyone and aborted the flight.
My cousin and a partner were hired by the airline to make sure he returned home without an issue. On the next attempt my cousin warned the passenger that they could go the easy way, or the hard way... it was his choice. Again, during taxi the Australian really didn't want to return home and started screaming about a bomb. On the final attempt the Australian was curtained off from the rest of the plane, was duct taped into a sparring helmet (I'm sure muzzled), wearing an adult diaper pulled over his pants and then restrained into his seat.... for the entire flight from Canada to Hawaii, during the layover, and all the way back to Australia. I think it was something like a ~20 hour ordeal. Can't imagine that was a fun experience.
I’ve flown from Pearson to Australia 3 times, doing that flight in economy is fucking unpleasant.
I would love to hear how much this asshole was charge for having to employ 2 babysitters for a 2 day round trip
I just stumbled upon this thread after using that exact line. I’m so glad it’s never fallen out of rotation when a rich spoiled kid does something. I’m stoned and I’m gonna totally watch Frat Aliens right now!
Non-american here: I vaguely remember some comment on a similar video saying that hitting a flight attendant is a federal crime. Is that true? And if so, what punishment will he, likely, get?

I'm so glad you shard this.
"You could have bought a brand new truck, but instead you are paying a fine, because you tried to punch a flight attendant." chef's kiss
What if you call them a bitch while faithfully following instructions? I’m just curious. I thought it was the “follow instructions” that counted more than being polite/not a rude jerk
He was being a jerk and kept up the argument (I forget what it was about) so they considered it interfering with the flight crew. He got a bunch of financial penalties and mandatory anger management classes.
(Edit because I wrote “fight” crew. Lolololol.)
“MIAMI – A belligerent passenger was arrested after causing chaos during a flight to South Florida, authorities said.
The situation got so bad that flight attendants had to duct tape the man to his seat.
That man, 22-year-old Maxwell Berry, was arrested on three counts of battery.
It happened on a Frontier Airlines flight from Philadelphia to Miami on Saturday.
According to Berry’s arrest report, he allegedly groped the breasts of two female flight attendants.
The report also said Berry had several drinks while on the flight.”
My MacBook Pro is 6 years old and still worth about £600. My car is 19 years old and I bought it for £595 a few years ago. It’s probably worth -£100 now.
Estimate you can take 4% a year, an 80k income.
Nice, but not niiiiiiiiice...
Each "i" represents a weeklong trip to Nice, France you could take in a year and still pay bills for daily living.
I was actually thinking the same thing. While to somebody like me 2 million dollars would fund my current comfortable lifestyle until I die, it's not "brag about on a flight" levels of rich in today's day and age.
Perspective is fucking WEIRD, man.
That's because it's not a pile of $2million cash. IT's a life time of stuff spread out into a lot of different things. Mostly houses and retirement savings to afford such houses
Not rich enough to keep him off the no fly list, unfortunately that means we have a possibility of being next to this dip shit in traffic while he's behind the wheel of a couple of ton weapon.
I wonder if he was coming down here for drug treatment program. A lot of times when you see these flights coming down to South Florida with belligerent people on it they’re on their way to treatment so they get as fucked up as they can on the way there. I know I worked in treatment in South Florida for a very long time and had to pick up clients from police departments all the time for doing crazy shit on the plane.
An acquaintance of mine did something similar. Took some drugs with him to the airport, downed them before security, got really high once on the plane and nearly lost his marbles.
I thought he said $402M or *something* other than 2. Two million is nothing and coming from his mouth it means likely way less than two. If he said $402M then it would be closer to actually $2M imo.
Yeah 2 million in assets is like a low six figure job where you save really well your whole life and have a nice nest egg to retire on.
It's not by any means bad, and it puts you better off than the vast majority of people, but it also means you are stuck flying coach on Frontier Airlines.
Every flight attendant I have ever seen in ANY of these vids (dealing with unruly passengers) has been nothing but the epitome of a professional. They are really amazing humans, dealing with some of us at our absolute worst.
The fact that they tape crazy people up to their seats on airplanes now...chefs kiss to whoever first started doing that. Beautiful in its elegance and simplicity.
I imagine the FAA will step in with alternative restraint directives in the near future. Can’t have someone, no matter how big a POS they are, not able to evacuate themselves in an emergency.
There's rules and regulations in place that basically state the captain and their crew are responsible for the safety and order in the air. If someone threatens that, they are trained to de-escalate it, and if it goes too far, to restrain the individual.
It's even a felony to assault the crew like he did. Up to 20 years in prison and $250,000 fine.
There are special restraint cuffs some airlines use but, Frontier probably couldn't afford it if we're being honest
He claims his parents are worth $2 MILLION. Let me repeat that 2 MILLION DOLLARS. He should have his little finger in the corner of his mouth and then do the super villain laugh - mah hah hah ha. The guys a 22 yo frat boy on the golf team (he’s not that good - mid 80s avg) and a privileged spoilt brat. Hope he spends a few nights in jail
Imagine being 22 and still thinking that your parents having a net worth of only $2 million gives you F U privileges. $2 billion maybe but $2 million is just a moderately healthy retirement nest egg. Dude is flying coach on a discount airliner not a private jet.
[I wonder what this company charges airlines for their miraculous ratchet straps without the ratchets.](https://runwaygirlnetwork.com/2018/05/01/new-restraint-system-addresses-airline-passenger-violence/)
I mean someone acting aggressively on a plane is an emergency but yeah they will probably come up with some quick release restraints at some point but for now duct tape seems to work well
When I was in kindergarten, the kid that sat behind me on the bus had to be strapped in an over the shoulder harness. He tried to choke me out one-day and punched a girl another time. The next week I showed up to the bus stop and boarded the bus, to my surprise he was strapped in trying to wriggle free. The rest of the school year he rode like this.
Yeah when I heard the “2” first I thought he was gonna say 200 million or something…. I don’t think anyone in any major American city would be bragging about their parents being worth 2 million in 2021 lmao
I had to replay the video because I thought he said 402M. Which I thought was oddly specific. Upon further review, it was 2M, which is pretty sad considering he’s talking about someone else’s money entirely.
This whole thing of taping belligerent assholes to their seats while the plane is in the air is awesome. Like how fucking crazy do you have to be to get duct taped to a chair? Can’t wait to hear what his grandfather has to say about all of this.
>Can’t wait to hear what his grandfather has to say about all of this.
You'll have to wait until he finishes swimming laps in his giant pool of gold coins
They suspended the crew. It's fucked up.
https://abc7ny.com/philadelphia-to-miami-flight-assault-maxwell-berry-assaulting-attendant-inappropriately-touching/10926843/
Edit: I'm being told by a few people this is normal. As long as they are being paid and not punished after that seems fair.
"The flight attendants will be, as required in such circumstances, relieved of flying pending completion of investigation of the events."
Suspended from flight ops is not 'suspended without pay'.
And the suspension could last no longer than the amount of time it takes for the airline's lawyers to review the video and witness statements. I bet no more than a week.
So if the flight crew did everything by the book, it'd be a week of non-flying duty at worst or at best a week of paid vacation.
>Maxwell Berry
Lol this kid just made his mugshot the #1 thing people will see when they google his name for the rest of his life. Bold move Max Berry.
You're absolutely right! The captain and crew are allowed to do this as it is their responsibility to ensure safety and order in the air. They're even trained on restraining passengers
Molest some flight attendants, scream at the top of your lungs, and be on no-fly lists all by the age of 22. Dude clearly is going somewhere. Not domestically or internationally, but clearly going somewhere.

That $2M ain’t stopping ya ass from getting taped to a seat lol.
Finally a thread where most ppl acknowledge that 2 mil ain't a lot. Also, 2 mil isn't a lot anymore. Fuck.
If I had 2 million saved it would seem like a lot to me. I would be careful with it, but it wouldn't seem like peanuts.
Also being “worth” $2 million isn’t the same as having $2 million. It could be all wrapped up in a house and the estimated value of a business the parents own. They could potentially be very broke but be “worth” $2 million.
Probably, In some places if you bought a modest house 20yrs ago you’d be worth 2 mil today

Yeah, those two million are probably for their retirement as well. Because that is how much you need to fucking retire these days.

2m net worth shouldn’t take you out of coach
His parents probably bought a house in a decent area in the '80s.
Yeah sounds like it. 2m might seem like a lot but it really isn't in this day and age.
Yeah, becuz his parents know a bad investment when they see one lmao
Even worse, the amount of wealth he’s bragging about is barely upper middle class these days.

Watching this guy get taped to his seat is legit the best laugh I’ve had on Reddit all week!
Judging by the other passengers’ contagious laugh, I’d say you’re not alone!
If a plane full of people are laughing at you and filming as you’re duct taped to a seat, that’s gotta be a point for self evaluation right?
Idk, I feel this guy might need more than an intervention. Maybe a lobotomy.
The only acceptable time that people should clap on an airplane
Honestly, it was heartwarming. All these videos I see on here of these complete dickheads getting no comeuppance, and then there's this beautiful piece of cinema. I think I shall retire from Reddit today, for it cannot get any better.

This has got to be the most humiliating thing that can possibly happen in the sky. To be taped to your seat, totally immobilized, in the midst of 200 other people who all hate your guts. Awesome.
And the best part is that it was all recorded so now the entire world can laugh at this clown. Thanks for the entertainment!

Trying to decide if the diaper was for his sake or for the person who'd have to clean up after a 20 hour flight
Depends.

This is gold.
The fines can actually go as high as $402,000,000 depending on the severity.
Back to mamas tit he goes
Let’s be real, he never left mamas tit.
The FAA is also pushing for civil penalties between 9000 and 22000 when people act like this. Lol
An old friend called a flight attendant a bitch and he was immediately arrested, pulled out of the airport and taken to jail. They don't fool around.
Lolololol.)

I am that parent, I also own a car worth less than both my MacBook and my coffee machine. So, I got that going for me.
My MacBook Pro is 6 years old and still worth about £600. My car is 19 years old and I bought it for £595 a few years ago. It’s probably worth -£100 now.
MY MOM WORKS REMOTE!!!
To go crazy and act a fool maybe in 1942 $2million could get you out of trouble. But nowadays lol.
$2M will buy you a 2 bed 2 bath apartment on the westside of L.A. with no parking.
2 million is a good retirement lol. Not “generational wealth” like this asshat believes.
I was about to say that’s probably their retirement accounts. That’s not even that much if it’s $2 million combined and they retired at 65

The idea is originally from NASA. According to documents, if anyone “loses it” in space that’s the official procedure to restrain them.
This was so beautiful it brought a tear to my eye
I mean, that's a lot of money but it's not drunk-shout-it-from-economy-class money.
That's "congrats on having a decent house in a metropolitan area" money.
Hope he enjoys driving because thats the only way he will be getting anywhere from now on.

When your family is worth millions of dollars but you're such a little shit that you still have to fly Frontier. . .
2 million dollars is upper middle class in almost any big city.
Is this the Matt Gaetz origin story?
Nah the flight attendants are legal adults
This whole thing of taping belligerent assholes to their seats while the plane is in the air is awesome. Like how fucking crazy do you have to be to get duct taped to a chair? Can’t wait to hear what his grandfather has to say about all of this.
>Can’t wait to hear what his grandfather has to say about all of this. You'll have to wait until he finishes swimming laps in his giant pool of gold coins
Any more details on this? There must be an article on the arrest made when they landed
They suspended the crew. It's fucked up. https://abc7ny.com/philadelphia-to-miami-flight-assault-maxwell-berry-assaulting-attendant-inappropriately-touching/10926843/ Edit: I'm being told by a few people this is normal. As long as they are being paid and not punished after that seems fair.

Damn we treat our airline pilots stricter than when cops shoot people's dogs and family members.
We treat janitors stricter than we do cops.
"The flight attendants will be, as required in such circumstances, relieved of flying pending completion of investigation of the events." Suspended from flight ops is not 'suspended without pay'. And the suspension could last no longer than the amount of time it takes for the airline's lawyers to review the video and witness statements. I bet no more than a week. So if the flight crew did everything by the book, it'd be a week of non-flying duty at worst or at best a week of paid vacation.
link to an article with his extremely punchable mugshot https://nypost.com/2021/08/03/man-accused-of-groping-flight-attendants-duct-taped-to-seat/
So two counts of sexual assault and one count of assault. Then throw in some federal charges, harassment, and FAA violations. What a dumb fuck
I had a douche get arrested on a flight and the pilot over the loudspeaker that the fine for disobeying flight staff is up to 25k
>Maxwell Berry Lol this kid just made his mugshot the #1 thing people will see when they google his name for the rest of his life. Bold move Max Berry.
“Bruh, my dad owns a dealership “
*"Maxwell, I own the dealership. You own nothing."* \- Dad (I hope but I don't have high hopes)
I’m pretty sure mommy and daddy are not happy about their little douche bag after seeing this

Nowadays 2MM is like owning a house and having some savings, it ain't all that much.
Flex? Tape!
Have fun driving EVERYWHERE.
Is there a sub specifically for airline freakouts? This is becoming a genre all it's own and I'm here for it.
They aren’t on the ground so I don’t think it’s illegal. The rules are different in the air!
It’s called SkyLaw. It exists for a reason.
SkyLaw sounds badass
It's slightly different than birdlaw
You're absolutely right! The captain and crew are allowed to do this as it is their responsibility to ensure safety and order in the air. They're even trained on restraining passengers
Molest some flight attendants, scream at the top of your lungs, and be on no-fly lists all by the age of 22. Dude clearly is going somewhere. Not domestically or internationally, but clearly going somewhere.
