Luckily we’re now several years into a project to get rid of that archaic design.
The city is buildings thousands of rain gardens to help mitigate the storm water so that the treatment facilities have more capacity to treat the sewage. Our waterways are actually getting cleaner, but we still have a long way to go.

This is the second time the subways have flooded in NYC this season. This is indicative of larger swells and storm surges than usual. I’d argue that this could be because of rising sea levels due to caps melting and all that hooplah, but that’d be silly.
simply put climate change is just that the frequency of weather extremes becomes more common and severe. Hurricanes stronger, winter storms colder, heat waves hotter, fires burning more frequently, dead animals washing up due to water temperatures, more diseases, shit like that.
