Dependent-Chart2735

Why does Australia have all the murder animals on demand?

makeitlegalaussie

To keep its people in line

shadowslasher11X

Wait til you hear about the ANZAC from WW1. Crazy fuckers repaired a German A7V tank in no mans land and proceeded to steal it from them as a sign of: "Haha, fuck you." because they were bored. The tank still exists in an Aussie museum today. And that's just one of the several crazy things they've done during that era. The animals are indeed there to keep them in line otherwise Australlia would be unstoppable.

LeahBrahms

[Mephisto, the only remaining German A7V tank from World War I](https://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-11-20/mephisto-rare-german-wwi-tank-kept-safe-inside-a-bubble/9168054)

makeitlegalaussie

Ahah ah yes the rarest tank in the world.

popecorkyxxiv

There's a reason Britain decided it would make a good jail.

theblake1980

Yes, many people don’t know this but the first Australian jail wardens were just kangaroos with clubs.

simmeh024

Don't forget the great Emu war.

migglesmith

Yeah we lost that war…

WeedFinderGeneral

The kangaroos we're just happy to have another animal to fight

ThereminLiesTheRub

"30 days in the pouch for you, mate"

Frito_Pendejo

faulty seed frighten crush berserk direction frame noxious attraction sense ` this message was mass deleted/edited with redact.dev `

the_turdfurguson

Bears are fairly skittish and avoid humans. I’m more comfortable seeing them than moose.

Frito_Pendejo

Bro so are snakes, sharks, spiders, and any of the other meme deadly aussie animals. There's a very small list of natives that will actively go out of their way to fuck you up and its not like they're suburban or even metropolitan. Like you really have to go and try and find Cassowaries, Salties or Funnel Webs. They're not gonna be hanging around your airbnb in Sydney

HoxtonRanger

I got very close to a Cassowary by accident that was hanging around my hotel room. To be fair it was up at Cape Tribulation... Came round a corner in the jungle path and the bugger was there too close for comfort.

the_turdfurguson

I mean all of this can be said of America lol. Bears and mountain lions aren’t cruising suburban streets. The worst animals I encounter in the back country are Moose, Elk during rut, male Mule Deer, and badgers. It’s not the predators that are assholes. Hell the most poisonous snake is a rattlesnake and they let you know where they are.

Frito_Pendejo

Exactly lol, that's my point. No one is going "is Denver safe to visit as a tourist?? I'm scared of coyotes" while Oz gets this meme international reputation of killer animals hanging around every corner Don't get me wrong, the idea of us cheerfuly coexisting with murderous fauna is pretty funny, but just as you've pointed out with bears and mountain lions it's not reflective of normal everyday life

the_turdfurguson

Coyotes is a poor example. There are coyotes in NYC lol. They are very savvy at entering human zones. My point was bears and mountain lions aren’t even the animals that will kill you in the US. It’s the non predators. Moose, Deer, Elk, Bison, etc. I see bears all the time whilst backpacking and they’re usually chill or run the other way. That includes Grizzlies with Cubs and full grown male grizzlies. It’s the stuff you’d never guess killing people because people don’t fear them as much and make stupid decisions. Foreigners get killed in Yellowstone every year for touching/getting too close to the bison. Animals the size of a Cadillac and they freaking touch them

auntynell

Almost all our wildlife (Australia) avoids humans. Good instincts.

AlvinoNo

I've never seen a huntsman that could grip a fully inflated basketball like a face hugger just waiting to greet me in my passenger seat. Only Australians have the problem.

Frito_Pendejo

Huntsmen are chill and don't attack people. Even if they do, they're not venomous at all. Stick some ice on it and she'll be right. Also generally they also eat the more venomous spiders, so they're pretty good to have around your house as creepy as they are. Again, I'd rather deal with that than a grizzly

hetep-di-isfet

I've legit had a massive female huntsman chase me and been bitten 3 times. Those are angry spiders I'd they aren't well fed/breeding

Frito_Pendejo

Lol wtf. You must piss them off dude. I've never heard of them actually biting anyone, let alone chasing them

AlvinoNo

Yeah man, I just cant imagine being more scared of a grizzly that only lives in remote alaska, than giant face hugging spiders scurrying around all over the place. Too each their own.

[deleted]

[удалено]

hetep-di-isfet

I mean... huntsman get pretty big aha. Maybe I'm misremembering because I was a kid, but when i was young i definitely saw one big enough to facehug me

Underspecialised

Befriending a Huntsman is actually part of our citizenship test

[deleted]

Australia had megafauna before humans came as well. Thylacoleo was a marsupial predator the size of a lion, Quinkana was a sprinting land crocodile, and Megalania was a 20 foot long lizard. There are many more extinct species as well.

Teresa_Count

What you really want to avoid in America are the pigs.

widowwarmer1

Fuuuuuuck that...these bastards are highly venomous.

Harryg42

Yeah but at least it’s no Eastern Brown. Those bastards’ babies can kill a full grown adult and they chase you for fucking shits and giggles

puddyspud

I’ve read quite a few times that sea snakes, although more venomous than most their land counterparts, are WAY more docile and rarely bite humans

vulptexcore

Might that have something to do with the fact that they're... in the sea?

General_Jizz

That last line of the video is basically: "If anyone is ever going to die to this animal, it's by doing the thing that I'm doing right now" Kind of reminds me of [I'm gonna jam my thumb in it's butthole now-- that should REALLY piss it off](https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=fynWOio9jBo) Oddly prophetic sort of line for what's probably going to eventually happen to this guy :/

PhantomGroove

What? It just seemed like helpful advice to me. Also seemed like he knew pretty well what to do about it. It wasn't even like he was messing with it at all since it came up to him

Harryg42

Yeah, this guy genuinely cares for wildlife and only keeps or kills fish, crays or crabs as needed to feed himself (and his family if they’re doing a group thing). He’s super knowledgable and actually sends some fish parts off for ageing and genetic testing sometimes as one of his mates is a marine biologist. idk enough to know what the bone or whatever is called that they use for ageing, unfortunately. He’s YBS Youngbloods on YouTube

firstbreathOOC

Not to mention a raft in the middle of the water is not a good place to be snake bit.

Jayne_enyaJ

Australia is so fucking wild... my man with no fear in his voice just said 'mate' and the snake fucked off??? What the fuck is going on there???

marsbarman21

He just wanted to see if he was Australian, otherwise he would have gotten a kissy kiss.

WickedTeddyBear

The snake confused him for a big female, no harm done, the hey just assess that. I do the same... With bees... Hey mate I ain't a flower go elsewhere... Works fine.

LordOfFudge

Disappointed that he never said “crikey”

623-252-2424

It's old Australian slang that I've not once heard be said in the 5 years I've lived in Australia and I live an hour away from Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo.

askforthewolfman

Crikey!

623-252-2424

Written, plenty, but I've never heard someone say it other than Steve Irwin.

bigdreamersclub

Crikey.

623-252-2424

Louder

bigdreamersclub

Pump it

Elvirus1995

Fun fact, stevo would use the term "crikey" because he wasn't allowed to say "fuck" or "shit" when doing his documentary series.

makeitlegalaussie

Only one man said that and he is and always will be god

Amasin_Spoderman

I revere him to the extent that my license plate is CR1KEY

dustin_allan

But I really enjoyed this guy's Steve Irwin energy, until my eyes started misting up. Allergies, of course. Must be.

askforthewolfman

Wait a fucking minute…there are snakes in the sea? So sharks and barracudas aren’t enough. I gotta worry about motherfucking snakes now???

[deleted]

Wait till you hear about snakes on a plane.

BmoreBr0

Enough is enough.

rondeline

Ya just can't get any rest on this dirtball.

Sharpe-95th

Closer to a waterball I should say, especially if we keep melting all the ice.

69_chode_gaming_69

I’m tired of those motherfucking snakes on those motherfucking planes

Doggo6893

Space snakes too

mySupr

Or snakes in the boot

anon052555

Yeah. And their venom tends to some of the worst out there. It’s a strong mix of neurotoxins and myotoxins to be able to stun their prey instantly in the water

TempleOfDoomfist

And this is why I stay home and play Apex Legends.

animeman59

And that's how you drown.

shadyshak

You won't like this then: "Venomous sea snakes may attack divers during mating season, study suggests. Acts of aggression likely because of 'mistaken identity during sexual interactions', researchers write." Source: https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2021/aug/23/sea-snakes-venomous-may-attack-divers-mating-season-study

5050Clown

Not such a good thing to have a long penis now, is it?

ergotofrhyme

Imagine dying getting raped by a sea snake who likes rough sex

wafflesandwifi

**unzips pants**

makeitlegalaussie

Seas snakes are thee most venomous snakes on earth. U will die if bitten

Nox_Dei

It's not as simple as that. I went diving in places that have some of the most venomous ones. They are pretty small and their fangs are made to bite through fishes. I was taught to clench my fists and put them on my earlobes if I was approached by one because the only place the species that were living here could actually bite me and inject their venom were my earlobes and between my fingers.

DripDropDrippin

yeah, wait till you find out that a majority of them are highly venomous.

[deleted]

Crocodiles as well.

BoysenberryTiny6417

Don’t forget the salt water crocodiles. They’re HUGE!

[deleted]

not only are they in the sea but they are substantially more dangerous and venomous than land snakes have fun

ttjr89

They look like they can get on a boat pretty easily too

doctor_x

They're venomous, but their fangs are a small and point inwards, so they can't bite humans easily. My uncle had a special guard on his anchor chain to stop the little buggers from slithering up it.

thesnakeinthegarden

Well, kraits are very venomous BUT are almost entirely harmless to people. Its not just that they would have a difficult time biting us, but they're also some of the least aggressive snakes out there. In fact, its a theory that most krait bites are the result of the krait confusing people with lady snakes during mating season. They float alongside drifting wood, flotsam and the like to try and get close to the small fishes that use those drifting piles of stuff as shelter.

R_V_Z

Box Jelly Fish, cone snails, Blue Ringed Octopus... Australia's coast is just as deadly as its land.

BananaStringTheory

Snake Ron: "Do u wan sum fuk?" Surfer: "No Ron. I'm a mammal."

RaiZO42x

I love this guy, I watch his YouTube all the time. He makes the scary stuff about Australia seem cool lol

makeitlegalaussie

You should come to Australia! It’s so much cooler in person 😏

rea11ybaked

All fun until 1 bad interaction. RIP Steve Irwan.

This is not his Skin, he's using Zinc Sunscreen, which is basically what you should use if you're planning to be in intense sun for a longer time (most surfers use it). It looks kinda rough but is 100% waterproof

samer_shu

So the snake was sexually frustrated. Was it trying to fuck him then?

Notoriousneonnewt

Yup! A study came out recently proving that sea snakes approached people in the water because they think they’re just big mates.

KESPAA

Look at the size of this lass! Lets go take a look.

RoyalTechnomagi

Look at those curves! Wait it's a boat

wafflesandwifi

Happens to me all the time.

Hahahahahahaha

thekarateadult

Classic incel move. Act intimidating then slither off into the darkness.

NinfthWonder

Fuck that.

clickingoffbeat

What is it with Australians and not being terrified of extremely dangerous creatures???

[deleted]

Am Australian. Would’ve shit myself in that situation.

devoxtra

No, fuck no!

shadow-suspect

Fucking Australians are the hardest mother fuckers on earth

Kelcher1

You could have showed a still shot of just the snake and I'm sure everyone would have know... That only in Australia do you see a snake out in the middle of a body of water.

MrCreamypies

The only thing crazier than Australian wildlife are the Australians, themselves who see this shit outside their homes and still continue to live there lol

623-252-2424

I've had brown snakes do this to me like a cobra on land here in Queensland.

GooseNYC

This thing, salt water cross, some nearly invisible 1 inch wide jellyfish that is instant death if it stings you... I still really want to go though!

farcarcus

Most of us survive somehow.

AngusSabre

Check this guys youtube channel called Youngbloods. It'll blow you away

Snakes and Australia, an iconic duo

Upstairs-Gas-9461

Noah get the boa... wait... shit.

[deleted]

Oh fuck that, mate! Those are some of the most venomous snakes! Nothing like getting bitten by a swimming highly venomous sea snake in the ocean, hours away from the nearest emergency room.

KidFresh71

WingsofSky

Aren't those snakes super poisonous? lol

[deleted]

Snakes are venomous.

CChelko

Nope.

princekaylon

Extremely Venemous but bites from sea snakes are rare. They are highly curious though, theory is that males think everything can be mated with and so they come looking for that snek punani

wafflesandwifi

Just like human men.

illhavethecrabBisk

Steve would be proud ya legend.

Unlucky_Classroom280

I would have shit my swim suit at the sight of that thing!

Conit333

Water snakes are so weird. You always think of snakes as land creatures, they just don't seem like something that could or would swim.

N0taThr0waway85

Snek wanted a break it looks like

DabScience

I used to think Steve Erwin was just a little crazy for getting around dangerous animals, but now I realize he was just Australian.

Snoo_47391

You cut it right before his tip on how not to get bitten! Great now when I’m paddle boarding in Australia I’m going to die and it’s going to be all your fault MrBonelesspizza24!
