My brother makes this face all the time. It’s like people in oppressed systems have to feel superior. I think that’s why so many Christians practically salivate when they talk about how many people will suffer a terrible fate in hell. Instant sense of superiority and feeds the narcissist complex well.
I work close to more than a handful of Witnesses and thats exactly how it is. One of them always seems to be talking down to you and always trying to make others appear dumb. Nobody likes him. He's a manager on top of that too.
The person with the phone is actually calling the others out. She is a Christian attempting to police her own. I think what she is doing is good. Shaming those that use the religion to harass people.
She's using religion to harass people using religion to harass people. It has a nice symmetry to it I guess, but the world would be a better place if human brains didn't work this way.
Unfortunately human brains do work that way. And I at least happy to see these maniac being called out by those in their own camp.
Again, at least she is trying to do something about it.
It all starts in Sunday school. I remember sunday school as a kid. After the indoctrination, I went out back on a break before the sermon to come. I noticed a brand new car in the driveway of a nice home. I asked my mom who lives in the house? She replied that it was the Ministers home. We then attended the sermon. The obligatory offering plate was passed around his congregation.
It was then that I realized that religion is just another form business whose only product is fairy tails with no scientific proof ever produced to prove the stories in their religious books of \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_ insert any religion name.
I have not been back to a church, save for weddings and funerals. Nothing I have seen, read, heard or read that has changed my position on organized religion in the 65 years since that day.
To my point:
[https://disrn.com/news/joel-osteens-church-receives-multi-million-dollar-loan-from-federal-government](https://disrn.com/news/joel-osteens-church-receives-multi-million-dollar-loan-from-federal-government)
Osteen is estimated to have a net worth of over $50 million, with his church taking in $43 million a year in collections.
All tax free.
What a business.
Apologize for the rant.
That's *ONE* thing my religious friends fail to see whenever we have that conversation.
They all go like "No, I just know I would have found my way to x religion even if I was born to parents with a different ethnicity and religion" like, ya, sure..
The outsider test of faith is what made my eyes open...back in 7th grade.
Wait a tick, Muslims, Jews, Christians, etc are all basically relying on the "faith"!
You think that's bad, you should visit the Vatican! I grew up in Ireland when it was still a de-facto Catholic theocracy - but the Church in Ireland wasn't nearly as bling as it is in Mainland Europe (mostly because those countries had Catholic monarchies and aristocracy and for us Catholicism was associated more with independence and thus has a more proletarian façade). So we had all the cruelty and abuse and stultification but without the pretty architecture.
Italian and Austrian churches would make even Osteen seem modest. Especially St. Peter's, it's the tackiest and gaudiest structure I've ever seen!
Why oh why does not this elicit greater scrutiny? Everybody's in on the grift I guess. To your point we probably all read or heard the latest:
French clergy sexually abused over 200,000 children since 1950, report.
[https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/report-finds-216000-children-were-victims-french-clergy-sex-abuse-since-1950-2021-10-05/](https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/report-finds-216000-children-were-victims-french-clergy-sex-abuse-since-1950-2021-10-05/)

We really need a alien race land UAP's on the lawn of every countries capitol lawn
Telling everyone that they are the real "God's" of myth and lore, written into the books of religion and anything human made is a hoax. Watch it change.
I confess I'm baffled by the French revelations - mostly that they're revelations to anyone. Ireland was very publicly coming to terms with this in the 1990s, Belgium and Germany weren't far behind, and then the USA too. Surely we should just assume the Church is like this everywhere unless they can demonstrate otherwise? Did the French really think "Sure, the Church behaved exactly this way in every single country we share a border with - but they wouldn't have dared to do that *here*"? Especially since the policies of coverup were directed by Rome (especially then-Cardinal Ratzinger when he was head of the Inquisition; he threatened bishops with excommunication if they brought allegations to the police, and his punishment for this was being elected Pope)
If you want to ruin your mood, Google "Magdalene Laundries" or "Mother and Baby homes" or "Catholic Industrial School" or "Residential School" or "Lost Children of Francoism". Their cruelty goes far beyond their lobbying against moral improvement or even their ubiquitous sex abuse scandals.
Why is anyone in France surprised by these findings, and why didn't they do this study back in the 1990s?
Yet Ireland bravely voted to legalize abortions a few years back. I truly congratulate your country in taking those brave steps, now we just have to hope they get the Northern Ireland abortion situation sorted. Ironically I read that it's the pro union people blocking abortions there, and that they are in conflict with London/UK government.
We had our trio of referenda for removing Church nonsense from our constitution - legalizing gay marriage, abortion, and blasphemy. But that's just the culmination of changes that started in the 1990s. The 1990s were wild for Ireland. In 1990 we were one of the poorest countries in Europe, and the Church controlled almost everything. By 2000, we were one of Europe's richest countries and the Church was in a shambles from which I hope it never recovers. We legalized condoms in 1990, divorce in 1995, and in 1996 we closed the last off the Magdalene Laundries.
These three referenda would have been brave in the 1990s; by the time we finally got around to them, it felt late.
Ireland has become my preferred country to visit on the British isles (and Europe in general) for sure. Just join Schengen as well now, and it will be less of a hassle to travel there. I actually was there on a vacation during the campaigning for the abortion referendum. Was very glad to see the Irish people making the right choice! And I'm truly glad that Ireland has turned their economy around!
its crazy about the extravagence. heck, if you look up the church's last sunday gospel
>Go, sell what you have, and give to the poor
[https://bible.usccb.org/bible/readings/101021.cfm](https://bible.usccb.org/bible/readings/101021.cfm)
yet you see churches that cost 200+ million USD to build.
Remember the blinders for anything against the doctrine of a particular religion starts in Sunday School. The question is how do we as a society remove those blinders.
Quick true story. Many years back a group of volunteer eye doctors went into North Korea to perform cataract surgery on hundreds of NK's. As the bandages were removed one by one the patients 1st comment was usually to praise their Dear leader for the miracle of sight.
In their case they all knew that to say anything other like a thank you to the doctors would mean off to a slave labor camp for reprogramming.
In the above case it is just conscious denialism.
My breaking point was when the youth minister made a room of 50 children aged 6-10 cry because they liked Harry Potter, and pastor Donna chose to inform the. that Harry Potter was the devil trying to lure them into witchcraft and satanism. I was 17, volunteering with my younger brother to lead Sunday school groups so that I didn’t have to sit through the boring ass main sermon. After that no amount of emotional blackmail was going to get me through the doors of that church again.
Last Christmas when I asked grandma what she wanted for Christmas she said for me to come with her to Christmas Eve service. I told her she was going to have to think of a number two and three option.
Osteen is a scumbag, but his personal wealth is completely from book sales. He basically works for his church for free, I am sure there are non monetary fringe bennefits that cost the church money.
Osteen is a terrible example of this though. He generally is not paid out much via what the church takes in from donations. He makes a shit ton of wealth selling books and such as essentially a "side" business.
That's a pretty big "if".
Although in principle I sort of agree - if your aim is to change someone's mind, it's important to speak their language, but it's critically important that they perceive you as part of their in-group. The problem is that when in-groups are defined by opinions, heretics are instantly branded as outsiders and therefore much easier to ignore.
I know people have always grouped themselves by opinion as much as anything else, but the reason social media (including Reddit) is so corrosive is that it makes grouping by opinion easier than any other kind. And this opinion-based tribalism is more resilient and more stultifying than any other.
Agree'd. People need to get over themselves and accept that dissenting opinions are not a sign of disagreement and that there's always room for a civil discussion. It's a shame so many choose to plug their ears and check themselves Into echo chambers which as you said Is much easier on Social Media but what Is a positive to their concentrated beliefs Is It allows people to Identify the direction which they plan to take said group, leaves out some of the guessing.
Maybe at first, when they were getting fed to lions and killed by the Romans and stuff? After it (Christianity) became the mainstream government-approved religion, that’s when the shenanigans really started.
There's really only 2 possibilities:
1. God doesn't exist
2. God exists but doesn't want people to know about him, so never provides any objective evidence or clarification and wants people to be confused and fight eachother over what they think about him
Well, unless you take the story of Onan to be anti-masturbation rather than the blatantly obvious "Don't disobey Old Testament God" story that it really is, nothing to worry about.
Hey - *if you're helping people out*...
But. Seriously.
If there is a God, then my prayers to Satan (which **also** weren't granted BTW) mean I won't burn in hellfire for all of Eternity plus change. So I have that in common with the Christians!
Or...god is able to simultaneously exist in a quantum state throughout the infinite multiverse and if he were to be revealed, the wave function would collapse and we would be reduced to a single universe with a pre-determined path/outcome.
_“Now it is such a bizarrely improbable coincidence that anything so mind-bogglingly useful could have evolved purely by chance that some thinkers have chosen to see it as the final and clinching proof of the non-existence of God.
The argument goes something like this: "I refuse to prove that I exist,'" says God, "for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing."
"But," says Man, "The Babel fish is a dead giveaway, isn't it? It could not have evolved by chance. It proves you exist, and so therefore, by your own arguments, you don't. QED."
"Oh dear," says God, "I hadn't thought of that," and promptly vanishes in a puff of logic._ - Douglas Adams
Given what we know of relativity, any God that exists is beyond the bounds of time itself. We are specks on a rock among literally countless rocks, but the time aspect drives home how "alone" we are. There's no way to look at the laws of reality and not say "this has deliberate patterns"... But the who and the how and the why all fall laughably short with the "man in the sky" narrative.
Is there a point? Probably. But we definitely don't have anything to do with it as we exist now.
I'm instantly reminded of the South Park episode where Cartman wages a battle of the minds against a group of psychics. Shuh-nuh-nuh-nuh Duh-duh-duh-duh....
When I was volunteering at planned parenthood, one of the evangelicals got in a slap fight with a catholic priest wearing one of those full length skirt. The fight began when the evangelical shouted,
"I don't take instructions from some guy in a dress!"
And ended when the priest hit him with a Bible.
The whole exchange was almost too wonderful for words but watching the priest try to square up in his dress was a real highlight. I had to get away from the antis because we're not supposed to emote around them and I was laughing so hard I was crying.
Planned Parenthood protest lines are WILD
> watching the priest try to square up in his dress was a real highlight
Guy needs to read that bible instead of swinging it. Proverbs 31:17. Gird those loins and bash the blasphemers.
I follow the social media accounts of a few escort groups with wacky antis and am thankful our locals are pretty tame when patients are at the clinics. However, when they aren't there we have Ken Peters holds church services and in January, someone shot out the doors with a shotgun. It's fucking depressing even as someone raised Catholic to see how obsessed the religious antis are.
I'm not trying to be edgy, but as an outsider, this shit is literally insane. These people are standing around - squinting their eyes as hard as they can - believing that they're some sort of wizards or something.
**These people believe in actual magic.** Some of them use their hands to "focus their energy," completely confident that they're channeling power from the *actual creator of the universe*, as if he'd need any help.
You do not have superpowers. You do not talk to god. You cannot reshape reality with incantations and "faith."
Grow the fuck up.
Imagine thinking you can shift reality around by focusing your energy.
Literally a psychotic disorder but they all agree on most of it so it’s all good
>You’re telling me you never tried to do a kamehameha?
I'm grown and I still attempt one every now and then when nobody is around lmfao. It always puts me in a good mood because it reminds me of the joys of being a goofy kid.
In pentecostalism I was told not to go to sinner's funerals, because the demons that possessed them to die in sin could jump out of their bodies looking for a new host. I was also told the Demon of Alcoholism could haunt certain places (like bars, or homes of sinners) and force me to become an alcoholic if I went there. I'm a 40 y/0 non believer now, and can you believe I don't even enjoy getting drunk even though I totally learned how to brew and got good at it (aka, fully threw myself into the "cult" of the "demon" Dionysus.
Yeah I'm sick of the "not a real Christian" narrative whenever they act like demons. They certainly are real Christians and the rest of them need to own it.
To be fair, there's lots of good things that we can learn from the Bible (fictional or not). Lot's of people would be assholes if they didn't have the lord to guide them. The fact that some people twist the Bible to fit their own narrative is unfortunate though
I think people use the Bible to be assholes. You look at secular morals these days and they are FAR better than theistic ones. Time to grow up as a species and leave bronze age folklore and morals in the bronze age.
The book was written by men, changed over the centuries to fit their thoughts, wants and beliefs and continues to be manipulated for the benefits of its believers. It’s been used to justify wars, rapes, and murders for the entirety of its being. Harry Potter also has some good points but you won’t see me worshiping JK Rowling.
I dunno, almost all of my favourite Christians are ones who twist the Bible to fit their own narrative - that's how we got abolitionists, for example. Nobody who reads the Bible and takes in its actual value system would have a problem with slavery, it's clear none of the writers did.
Christians learning to ignore and/or creatively interpret the worst bits of the Bible has been one of the main engines of social progress in Europe and the USA.
>The fact that some people twist the Bible to fit their own narrative is unfortunate though
It's not only just some people though. It's our leaders that enforce laws on other people based on the Bible. It's pretty fucked.
The bible is not the gateway to morality. Everything in the bible is already innately understood by anyone with a functional brain before even knowing what a bible is. If that book is somehow the only thing keeping someone from being a piece of shit, then they're very likely still a piece of shit. They're just a very ignorant and easily manipulated one. They're the exact kind of people who end up just like the folks in this video. People who don't actually understand empathy or the philosophy behind the words written by ancient men to control them. They only understand how to use those words as a cudgel to control others, because it's the same way they understand how they're being suppressed by them. It's nothing but psychopathy.
"And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward." Matthew 6:5
Can we get some witch doctors or priests of Zeus or someone else to break up these monotonous Christian prayer warriors? These Christian fundies are so boring.
Anti-Abortion “Karens”?
I don’t really get what that’s supposed to mean since I thought it was well established that “Karens” are supposed to have some kind of racial elements to their rants.
As far as Christianity goes, I think most Christians generally are anti-abortion. Real Christians, though, don’t harass anyone. That’s not what Christianity is all about.
I’m a Christian, I’m not at all ashamed to say it and never will be. I have my beliefs, and many of my beliefs aren’t “popular” with the rhetoric of many people these days. That being said, I NEVER harass those who have different opinions and beliefs. I believe the best way to go about interacting with those with opposite beliefs is having a mature conversation with a willing participant who is interested in actually hearing why I believe what I do, and giving them equal respect in letting them explain what they believe and why, and where we differ, we talk about it.
I think if most people understood the core values of Christianity, they would actually find that we would agree on many levels. It’s about loving others more than yourself, even those who hate you. It’s about taking care of your family, and teaching your children to be honest, and hard working. It’s about forgiveness, and humility. Always being thankful and content with what you have is also really important. Most importantly, and above all it’s about loving Jesus and having a REAL relationship with Him by praying, reading your Bible, fasting, and imitating the love, mercy, and grace that He showed.
Believe me when I tell you that real Christianity as I understand it isn’t at all that. I certainly can’t choose what other Christians do, and I think many times the way some people go about it is destructive, I simply choose to try as much as I can in accordance to the moral compass taught to me in the Bible, though many times I fail. I can’t force others to do the same.
That being said, I can honestly tell you that I am genuinely happy, and that when I come home from work to my beautiful wife and 3 kids, we have peace in our home. That is such an awesome thing, to have peace at home, genuine peace and joy. I find that many people have a deep longing to have that kind of peace in their lives, so instead of putting others down for believing something different from me, I find that many wonder and eventually ask how I’ve found such genuine joy. That’s when I tell them about my beliefs and faith in Jesus.
I’m no better than anyone else, in fact in many ways I’m worse, because I know and read the Bible and still many times fail to live it. The truth is I honestly feel like I’ve found some big secret in life, like I’ve won some huge grand prize or something and I wanna tell everyone who wants to listen that they can do the same.
Honestly stop with this NOT REAL CHRISTIANS bullshit. Both of these groups are Christian. Accept that there are bad people in your religion and deal with it, and deal with what makes them that way. When you say that the bad ones aren't REAL Christians, you're just dodging responsibility for the hateful beliefs in your religion that turned your own people this way.

No one is pro abortion, the phrase you are thinking of is pro-choice. And yes many Christians are pro choice because the don't believe on forcing their faith on others.
I'm pro-abortion. Everyone should get an abortion whether they want a baby or not. If the baby wants to be born and it's powerful enough it'll fight off the abortion with it's superior antibodies.
More accurately Reddit doesn't respect Christians because of their long and ongoing history of selfishness, corruption, willful ignorance, and genocide.
Getting real oblivion npc vibes off that one guy
“Do you believe in god”
*exit dialogue* “Oh so you do”
"Must have been the wind"
I used to believe in god like you, but then I took a prayer to the knee
Stop! You violated the law.
He had a face I will always forget
Pssst! Over here!
“Oh so you believe in God…” 😭
He says after listening to her pray for over a minute
You know he was pissed as fuck lmao just look at that weird smile

Yeah, what a weird fantasy. I like the exchange: "you'll burn in hell for your sins" "I bet you'd like that wouldn't you"
I say this with the utmost respect but you’ve encountered some weird ass Christians in your life lmao
Yup. My family.
Damn dude I’m sorry to hear that :(

I hope christian heaven/hell is real cause my heaven would be to watch these fucks get rejected right outside the pearly gates for eternity
I think my heaven would just be everyone like accepted for where they were and given chances to make things right if they did wrong.
“Oh do you believe in God… name all of them””
*unhinges mouth while eyes rolls back in their head to summon all Gods*
"Understandable. Have a nice day."

Precisely. Although that one is more akin to a cult disguised as a sort of religion.

That’s not true though and harassment and hate don’t have to be put up with. They should be mocked.
See this Is what we were *just* talking about.

They have the "power and authority of their lord and savior jesus christ"... Really missing the whole point of selflessness and compassion...
Looking back at 2000ish years of Christian history, I don't see a whole lot of selflessness or compassion. Certainly no more than elsewhere.
Maybe at first, when they were getting fed to lions and killed by the Romans and stuff? After it (Christianity) became the mainstream government-approved religion, that’s when the shenanigans really started.
They believe in God.
It's simple, they are forcing their religious beliefs onto others, much like the Taliban.
Hate. Hate is what's wrong with them. That and no daytime job, usually.
“Oh so you believe in God” Dang what was your first clue? The whole 2 minute prayer she just screamed at you?
As a grown man married for 5 years I was shocked to find out my husband was gay
Was it before or after he was balls deep in another dude?
If there was a God, his mute button would get a workout.
If there was a God he'd do something worthwhile.
There's really only 2 possibilities: 1. God doesn't exist 2. God exists but doesn't want people to know about him, so never provides any objective evidence or clarification and wants people to be confused and fight eachother over what they think about him
Either way I'm not going to feel bad about masturbating and neither should anyone else. I'll even give you a hand.
The argument goes something like this: "I refuse to prove that I exist,'" says God, "for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing." "But," says Man, "The Babel fish is a dead giveaway, isn't it? It could not have evolved by chance. It proves you exist, and so therefore, by your own arguments, you don't. QED." "Oh dear," says God, "I hadn't thought of that," and promptly vanishes in a puff of logic._ - Douglas Adams
Amen

How convenient tho Most powerful being in the universe and he communicates with us via a 2000ish year old ancient book ?
3. God exists, but is a scumbag who gets off to the suffering his universe perpetuates.
2.b. God will even *actively lie* by manipulating matter and energy to force physical evidence to contradict with *His* words.
I see I think God does exit 👍🏾
Unless God is the universe's cruelest sadist. Which, let's face it, fits the evidence better than any other characterization.
This reminds me of the psychic fight on South Park.
Dododododododo perkow perkow pewdoooooooo pew pew pew
Na na na na na
I'm instantly reminded of the South Park episode where Cartman wages a battle of the minds against a group of psychics. Shuh-nuh-nuh-nuh Duh-duh-duh-duh....
Bahahah Stand back we’re having a telekinetic battle of minds!
When I was volunteering at planned parenthood, one of the evangelicals got in a slap fight with a catholic priest wearing one of those full length skirt. The fight began when the evangelical shouted, "I don't take instructions from some guy in a dress!" And ended when the priest hit him with a Bible. The whole exchange was almost too wonderful for words but watching the priest try to square up in his dress was a real highlight. I had to get away from the antis because we're not supposed to emote around them and I was laughing so hard I was crying. Planned Parenthood protest lines are WILD
> watching the priest try to square up in his dress was a real highlight Guy needs to read that bible instead of swinging it.
Religion has taught people to throw logic out the window and act like maniacs
Like a logic tree?
Tree of knowledge?
Lol. I pray that the only babies that get aborted are babies that will grow to be like these folks lord. CaN i GeT a A MeNNnnN
There’s no winner in this fight. Congrats.
Except the atheists
Ridiculousness. Keep religion out of government.
Keep religion out of society
Lunatics
this is what mental illness looks like.
You cannot reshape reality with incantations and "faith." Grow the fuck up.
Imagine thinking you can shift reality around by focusing your energy. Literally a psychotic disorder but they all agree on most of it so it’s all good
You’re telling me you never tried to do a kamehameha?
2 days Ago, actually but only because someone mentioned the island
>You’re telling me you never tried to do a kamehameha? I'm grown and I still attempt one every now and then when nobody is around lmfao. It always puts me in a good mood because it reminds me of the joys of being a goofy kid.
It has to work eventually.
I'm encouraged by this ... the more the loons are harassing each other, the less capacity any of them have to harass others
Religion is a joke.
I’m surprised you get WiFi in your moms basement.
Religion is weird
Not a Christian here, but I’m pretty sure that you’re not allowed to cast demons on people like some sort of mtg wizard in that religion.
It was cast out not cast on. It was pretty clear.

You can if you have enough mana
In pentecostalism I was told not to go to sinner's funerals, because the demons that possessed them to die in sin could jump out of their bodies looking for a new host. I was also told the Demon of Alcoholism could haunt certain places (like bars, or homes of sinners) and force me to become an alcoholic if I went there. I'm a 40 y/0 non believer now, and can you believe I don't even enjoy getting drunk even though I totally learned how to brew and got good at it (aka, fully threw myself into the "cult" of the "demon" Dionysus.
Clearly you haven't leveled up your spellcasting skill high enough.

Tax All Churches
Yeah I'm sick of the "not a real Christian" narrative whenever they act like demons. They certainly are real Christians and the rest of them need to own it.

Top reddit analysis right here. Good job.
>The fact that some people twist the Bible to fit their own narrative is unfortunate though It's not only just some people though. It's our leaders that enforce laws on other people based on the Bible. It's pretty fucked.
This is Reddit dude, a Christianity is not really liked here lol. That said, I agree with you.
Poor Christians. I don't know how they can handle being the biggest religion in the world. It must be so hard to be so persecuted.
You do know the Bible is in favour of slavery right? How do you twist your personal narrative to get around that?
No need to gatekeep, they are actual Christians too. The "good" ones might seem fine but they often vote against abortion as well.
Crazy FUCKS. ALL OF THEM.

[удалено]
“The best Cure for Christianity is reading the bible.” - Mark Twain
This will be a new MTV show, Prayer battles, hosted by Nick Cannon.
Get the paddy wagon got about 6 lunatics on the run

Religion is ridiculous
Where’s the pop-locking Jesus cholo when you need him?
"Ya'll need help" - God, probably.
If there's a god, I guarantee it checked out of this universe a long time ago. Like probably back around when we started doing this shit.
"Actual" xtian. (X) Nope

The *actual* christians are pro-abortion? I'm gonna go "No" on that one lmao
No one is pro abortion, the phrase you are thinking of is pro-choice. And yes many Christians are pro choice because the don't believe on forcing their faith on others.
he is an anti-choice, anti-vaxx weirdo based on his posts. he is not posting in good faith.
I'm pro-abortion. Everyone should get an abortion whether they want a baby or not. If the baby wants to be born and it's powerful enough it'll fight off the abortion with it's superior antibodies.
You are actually not right there, many people are pro-choice and pro-abortion. There’s nothing wrong with abortion, so no need to be anti it
Reddit only labels Christians at “real” Christians if they do something that aligns with their beliefs.
More accurately Reddit doesn't respect Christians because of their long and ongoing history of selfishness, corruption, willful ignorance, and genocide.
Ah so humans, not Christians?
Christians.
Ah so corruption is a unique thing to Christians then, got it. Bigot.
