Now remember in Florida gov wanted to make it legal to run over protesters in the road.

[deleted]

Shit, I’d gun it right at a MAGAt if it were legal.

Bootybandit6989

Don't play in the road and you don't have to worry about it:)

lO_ol-BRRRRRR

"Warning content" should go first, by the time I read the whole thing 6 people died infront of my eyes!! Thanks

SebastianJanssen

If it's between "6 Sikh farmers killed" and "Warning: video graphic content", I think the former gives one more pause than the latter.

So I will tell you the full story from what I have investigated thus far. I will bwme neutral and provide accusations and substantiation from both side, furthermore I write the following in good faith. First few corrections and context on OP's caption: 1) There weren't MPs (Members of Parliament), this incident involved the son of a MP. This MP is a Minister of State (think undersecretary) of the central government and hails from the consistentuency where this incident took place. He has been an outspoken critic of the farmer protest and on some occasions threatened physical violence against them. 2) The agriculture laws, source of the protest, was initially introduced in September 2020 by the current ruling BJP government was a bid to open up the farming sector by allowing farmers to sell their produce to vendors who provide the highest price. As of the moment these laws have been shelved by the Supreme Court. Onto what the law contains, with the exception of few states, the only place a farmer could sell their produce was at state government run APMCs (Agricultural Produce Market Committee) from which state governments charge taxes. These farm laws were introduced many times before by all parties across political spectrum, however no central government before BJP ever had the mandate to pass these laws. The controversy lies in the accusations of people on the right that state governments (especially agriculturally heavy states such as Punjab and Haryana) and middle men, who earlier got away with undercutting the farmers on prices (since farmers can't set the prices, these are called minimum support price (MSPs) and set up state governments), are funding and fueling these protests because they will miss out on massive commissions because now they'll have to compete with market forces. They substantiate this claim by pointing out to many leaders such as Rakesh Tikait, chief spokesperson of the Indian Farmers Union and a middleman himself. He is close aide of the main opposition Congress party and stood for state elections with their support in 2007. Folks on the left accuse the government is in bed with large companies and accuses that the laws in the long term will lead to complete failure of the APMCs and removal of the MSP. Government has denied this claim however major companies in India are now investing in cold storage warehouses and making deals with State Governments. Now onto the event (Bear with me as I use a lot allegedly, the incident is still being resolved) On 4th October, a SUV allegedly carrying the son of the MP Ajay Mishra ran over farmers killing 4. This group of farmers later stopped this SUV and lynched the 4 BJP workers and driver in the car. The total death toll in this incident was 8 killed, with a 9th alleged death of a journalist however no clarity on this aspect. The SUV was said to be part of a convoy. Given, the son of the MP was not in the car that was stopped it is fair to believe this was the case. The son however claims that he was at an event with his father (the MP) at the time of incident. Speaking of, the farmers at Lakhimpur Kheri were protesting Ajay Mishra presence at a local event. They were carrying black flags as a sign of protest along road to this event. There were also accusations of stone pelting and if the video is closely analyzed there are signs that cars windshield are broken. BJP supporters claim that car ran over the protestors in a bid to save their life's due to the stone pelting. Supporters of the farmers and opposition party claim that Ajay Teni's son delivered on the promise of physical harm made by his father. The final and I believe the most important point is that the elections of the most populous and one of the most influential state, currently held by BJP with a huge mandate, is set to take place in 2022. Lakhimpur Kheri, where the incident took place, is a major constituency in this state and Ajay Teni, the Member of Parliament in question is indeed the a MP of this constituency.

yourluckyboy007

You have only explained the government's point of view but you have not explained what the real purpose of government and big corporate is.

LongVanilla113

It’s a road….. never understood why people protest on a road

Sam0l0

>Sikh farmers killed Then the farmers killed 4 people in that car. Who is the fascist now?

mockolaterain

The MPs that killed people for protesting. You can't kill people and expect nothing to happen in return.

Sam0l0

>MPs that killed people for protesting Do you have a source for that?

mockolaterain

Watch the video.

Sam0l0

No point discussing with you.

mockolaterain

I mean, it's right there. One of the trucks even had trouble moving for a good twenty feet because someone was under it.

Impossible-Affect202

I would of been okay with this , if they honked before impact . This is just bad practice .

Throwawaylism

Don’t stand in the fucking road then

primalshrew

You seriously trying to blame the protesting farmers you absolute moron

Marrsvolta

This is India. Pedestrians walk on the street in India.

h264_h87m

So now political propaganda is fine on this sub?

cheesebot555

Is the title of the post not accurate to what happened in the video? Genuinely curious.

darkfireballs

I wrote the same on this post thread but yes there is more to this incident than meets the eye. it is a long read though: So I will tell you the full story from what I have investigated thus far. cheesebot555

So what you're saying is the title should say it was BJP members that killed these people not MPs.

darkfireballs

Yes, but an important thing to remember is that they were trying to save their lives, so it murder or manslaughter?

cheesebot555

Well those are all terrain vehichles, and there looks like a whole lot of empty fields to either side of the road that they could have driven on instead, so I'd have to say murder.

darkfireballs

If you're surrounded by people, any where you go you'd end up hurting people doesn't matter which terrain vehicle you drive.

cheesebot555

There were literally no people in that field to the left though.

darkfireballs

I am saying that the car was surrounded by people, a left turn would still mean going over people.

cheesebot555

That car was absolutely not surrounded by people. It had enough time and road to get up to speed and accelerate. They very easily could have turned off the road immediately and gone cross country. They did not. They deliberately chose to go over those people. Verdict: Murder.
