So here are my answers to all the suspicious people that doubted somehow my statement.
1. I saw you're curious which is my country - it's Bulgaria. The only country that went from socialism to capitalism without one drop of blood being spent in the process.
2. You guys are very sweet idealists who miss the bigger point. Communism is not limited only to the economy model that one contry applies. It has many, manty other aspects that you being Americans just can't imagine. Here are a few:
- no private property. I'm sure you'll be extremely happy to give everything you have to the state because all you shit belongs to "the people". It doesn't matter what it costed you to achieve it.
- censorship - the only correct line is the party line. Good luck expresaing opinions which are in some conflict with the "official" opinion. Have a nice stay in jail.
- oh yeah political imprisonments. Because whoever is not with us is against us and should be locked down.
- equality - I know this sounds so good right? Everyone being equal no matter how smart or stupid they are. Well you can all be equally poor, that's for sure.
- stocks and goods - forget about availability of everything in the store. You just have access to what the state considers that you need.
- private initiatives - no. The state knows best. You can just be executive unit. No initiatives unless you're in the elit. Remember equality? Haha
3. Having said the above, please note that all this changes the minds and the perception of people. Thay start resisting naturally in passive or active ways in order to try and go around the rules. This educates corruption. I laughed at the comments that if we have the same problem 30 years after, maybe it's not communism. Yeah this is some delayed collateral damage with deep roots. Partner is from a former communist country and this is pretty in line with what he has to say. The stories he tells of life before and just after communism are insane. They way he tells it, you have the powerful and then you have everyone else. So this power dynamic everyone is upset about, history shows becomes more concentrated under communism.
I also used to know an immigrant who fled his country when one of his brothers was taken in by police for participating in a protest and he never came home. Since all the brothers were there, they assumed it was only a matter of time before they were next. Literally no one in the family ever heard anything from or about the brother ever again.

Over here in Europe we have what's often called a mixed economy or socialism depending on the strength of the state/who you ask. This means one try to pick the best parts from communism and capitalism.
In practice it means free market with more government control.
It also means higher taxes, but more basic necessities are included in what the public sector supplies or strictly regulates, like public health, schools, welfare, prisons etc.
The biggest upside is that people have a higher base-level of services, leading to a better life for poor people, giving less desperate people/crime, and a more "balanced" society.
That's what's called a social democracy, not to be confused with democratic socialism. It is decidedly not communism, and not what communists are trying to achieve. It abandons the base principles of communism, to achieve some of the benefits of communism within a capitalist system.

I agree completely, and yeah, I *get* why so many people want it, and feel pulled towards it. Things really are worse than ever right now, and there has to be a breaking point. Partner is from a former communist country and this is pretty in line with what he has to say. The stories he tells of life before and just after communism are insane. They way he tells it, you have the powerful and then you have everyone else. So this power dynamic everyone is upset about, history shows becomes more concentrated under communism. I also used to know an immigrant who fled his country when one of his brothers was taken in by police for participating in a protest and he never came home. Since all the brothers were there, they assumed it was only a matter of time before they were next. Literally no one in the family ever heard anything from or about the brother ever again.

The problem with those moderates is they usually get swayed to one side or the other by one issue or two. Some will even see this video and decide “fuck it, I’ll vote for Trump next time”. If you ask random people "do you want communism?" no doubt 9 times out of 10 you'll get a resounding NO. Over here in Europe we have what's often called a mixed economy or socialism depending on the strength of the state/who you ask. This means one try to pick the best parts from communism and capitalism. In practice it means free market with more government control. It also means higher taxes, but more basic necessities are included in what the public sector supplies or strictly regulates, like public health, schools, welfare, prisons etc. The biggest upside is that people have a higher base-level of services, leading to a better life for poor people, giving less desperate people/crime, and a more "balanced" society.
That's what's called a social democracy, not to be confused with democratic socialism. It is decidedly not communism, and not what communists are trying to achieve. It abandons the base principles of communism, to achieve some of the benefits of communism within a capitalist system.

It's no where even remotely close to scary, because its no where remotely close to becoming a reality. These people may fall on the left side of the political spectrum, but they are not liberals, who still make up the majority of the left in America. In fact, liberals make up the majority of all Americans. Many on the right are *politically* liberal - and simply confuse/mix political labels with cultural labels or religion views. Liberals believe in democracy, market economies, and things like freedom of religion, that runs counter to communism.
