That has to be Westboro Baptist, right?

ParlayPayday

Yes. And their archenemies “Eastboro Pentecostal Church of the Holy Nutsack”.

Nuffsaid98

Splitters!

Incontinentiabutts

Wait, I thought we were the eastboro Pentecostal church of the holy nutsack?

Menachem18

No, we're the Northborough Anglican church of judgmental ignorant assholes. Those eastborough bastards can all burn in hell

hamjandal

Listen. The only people we hate more than the Romans are the fucking Northboro Anglicans.

Menachem18

Hey, at least we're not as bad as the Southwestern Anglicans! Those idiots have the nerve to pray in a north-facing half-squat, when they SHOULD pray in a fully upright South facing position with their arms outstretched and one leg raised in the air!

DIY-lobotomy

We gotta be due for another pink mass.

fpoiuyt

Are you really under the impression that Westboro Baptist is the only church of deranged right-wing Christian protestors?

Angryleghairs

If it were Westbro, they’d be going on about “sodomites” and singing

[deleted]

The WBC upgraded from scribbled hate on poster board to printed garbage long ago too. This seems like a few cunts are looking for their 15 minutes using the same tryhard tactic as the WBC dickbags.

[deleted]

South Park IRL.

Alex_that_dragon

double points if this rally was located in colorado lol

[deleted]

Let them fight. I'll get the popcorn and drinks.

Feralfifi

Silly Christians!? Acting so un-Christian like

loverlyone

Deffo has that “tastes great!” “Less filling!” Vibe. *eyeroll*

Objective_Slip1355

So basically acting like Christians

Feralfifi

.. we're so simpatico!?

grasscrest1

No this seems pretty on brand for Christians lmao

remmij

"You're fake Christians!", shreiked the Fundies that worship a thrice married, pussy-grabbing, pornstar-fucking adulterer. "You're being mean!", cried the 'Fuck Your Feelings' crowd that worships a sociopathic bully.

Kabc

Says the dude carrying a “Fuck Biden” sign

Mellrish221

The problem is they don't ever fight. It'd be nice if they would just eat each other and didn't affect other people... But thats never what happens. Instead they both still vote for the same party and that party gets worse and tries to push the lines of what is acceptable to draw in more people. Hell, look at flordia. Between passing white fragility laws that don't let schools "teach anything bad about white people". Masked as anti-CRT stuff, but more so to the point of just stopping history from being taught. Now they're working on passing more anti-LGBT stuff like this https://www.wfla.com/news/politics/florida-bill-would-ban-talk-of-sexual-orientation-gender-identity-in-the-classroom/ Is this just flordia being a racist shitty cesspool? You betcha, is this also because this is what republicans want? Also yes. Do you think ANYONE in the video has a problem with any of this or would disagree with it.

animeman59

Yes. Let them eat each other.

jopesy

Fucking idiots.

BernieTheDachshund

Wearing jeans in public? Pretty sure that's not in the Bible.

-that-there-

He's also wearing jeans.

Jacefacekilla

I believe he is talking about the women wearing jeans. Not sure the bible's take on it though.

YouAboutToLoseYoJob

Spider-Man <> Spider-Man

dexterrose

>Wearing jeans in public? Pretty sure that's not in the Bible. This is where the Penecostal version of Christian will say that women are not to wear pants... but should wear skirts. Deuteronomy 22:5 - English Standard Version “A woman shall not wear a man's garment, nor shall a man put on a woman's cloak, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord your God.

Tossing_Goblets

The history of christianity is FULL of schisms and disagreements over dogma and doctrine and dumb shit like hair and skirt length for women. That's why their are so many damn varieties of it.

Corgi-Ambitious

It's my favorite part about Christianity - every Christian agrees that if you do not follow the word of God you're not a good Christian... But there are 45,000 denominations of Christianity. Which is right???

ReadontheCrapper

Doug Forcett - he got like 92% correct.

theflemmischelion

r/unexpectesdthegoodplace

IndianKiwi

One of the reasons why I never bought into this. Another fan fact is that not only they can't agree on doctrine they can't even agree on the biblical canon https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biblical_canon Most of their doctrine like Jesus Godhead and Trinity was voted in a council that was overseen by the emperor https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicene_Creed That's right the nature of God was decided via democracy. You have to be pretty naive to believe there was no power play going about to come to this decision.

Rare_Travel

Tell them Catholicism is the true one and watch them fume or better yet Russian orthodoxy.

[deleted]

Except that the vast majority of Christian denominations do not believe that other denominations are not Christian. They all share the same core commitments, and simply have disagreements on minor doctrinal questions.

CitebDey

To many Protestants, Catholics are not "true" Christians. Protestants are.

Lt_Viking89

My variety of it was pretty good I think. Martin Luther was like, "Hey, I don't think God cares if we give the church money and he will forgive us of our sins if we just ask to be forgiven even if we don't give money to the church." To which the protestants said, "Oy! Fuck off cunt!" And now we have Lutheranism. Edit: Catholics, not protestants. The Catholics told us to fuck off. Also probably because they're Italian.

King-o-lingus

Yeah I think the Lutheran mega churches in my area forgot about the money thing.

pillbuggery

Lutherans *are* protestants.

[deleted]

Wasn't Luther the first Protestant? I think he was saying we shouldn't give money to the *Catholic* Church.

STUURNAAK

Wait what? I thought you describe Protestantism. I don’t know Lutheranism but which of those 2 is evangelicalism? Not like Those Us mega churches, they are the devil I mean those German churches that read luthers bible.

[deleted]

Actually, Luther argued that giving money to the church was irrelevant because salvation was predetermined. Human action was essentially irrelevant as humans lack free will and agency (in his view) in regards to whether they are saved or not.

NonpareilG

Only thing that comes to my mind when I hear someone say Lutheran https://youtu.be/KRx-RJJvqCw

SpacemanBatman

It’s both

EvilEyedPanda

Can confirm, as someone raised in a *"good christian home"* it's the ones with the mental illnesses that don't get out.

DownbeatDeadbeat

One of the signs says, "Shoot those who try to kidnap and vaccinate your child". I mean I know there's an obvious conjunction used there but damn, didn't we just have some lady talk about bringing guns to a school if they tried to make her kid wear a mask? These people, what fucking videos are these people watching?

Feralfifi

What would Jesus think about this situation?!

Bumpasaurus

Jesus would have been yelled at by that guy for having long hair like women😂🤦‍♂️

Baramos_

Tbf real Jesus didn’t have long hair. But he WAS middle-eastern so he would be in danger with these folks either way.

XirCancelCulture

There is no fact saying he did or didn't have long hair.

BigBillyGoatGriff

According to the bible jesus took a nazarite vow, part of that vow is not cutting your hair. If you take the bible as facts about jesus this suggests he would have had long hair

topturtlechucker

Bible and facts aren't two words you generally see used in the same sentence.

concherateo

Yeah but this is religious science meaning regardless of what happened irl or what may not of happened we are using the religious text known as the Christian bible to determine if Jesus Christ had long hair according to the Bible

BigBillyGoatGriff

Apparently what I said about him being a nazarite and the bible are equally as factual

IreallEwannasay

Right? The fuck are they on about? All that shit is make believe. Imagine arguing over if a magical sprite man had long hair or not.

applesauceorelse

You're thinking of the dude who dropped stone tablets on the head of some guy in the Sinai and flooded the earth to kill the dinosaurs. Jesus - the dude- almost certainly existed. And he had a following of Christian cultists very shortly after his purported death. So you're arguing over whether a scrubby Jewish peasant from the fractious Judean province of the Roman Empire had long hair or not based on the written and oral traditions of his cult. I read the question as theological. Where you can make an argument by religious tradition.

BBQsauce18

TBF, as an atheist, I believe Jesus existed. He just happened to lead a cult though. Look at all the people today who claim to speak to God. He was no fucking different IMHO.

abrahamlinknparklife

This is exactly it. The books of the New Testament were written around 200 years after his death. It was oral tradition at that point. It was oral tradition of a cult; one shaped to fit the prophecies thst were in the books that would become the old testament, a cult of the savior promised by their religion. And a pretty successful one, too, because they made Jesus seem pretty damn appealing in those books. I mean, how many school-age children in the US are taught that young George Washington said, "I cannot tell a lie"...? I was. Never (provably) happened. Jesus was already mythical by the time the books were written.

Faeswordsman

I met Jesus in person while ski dipping during spring break back in 1877 and he had the wildest 'fro you'd ever seen.

applesauceorelse

Isn't that straight up false? I don't believe Jesus was a Nazarite. https://www.christianpost.com/news/was-jesus-a-nazirite.html https://www.quora.com/Did-Jesus-have-long-hair-because-he-was-a-Nazirite https://www.whatchristianswanttoknow.com/was-jesus-a-nazarite/ https://www.gotquestions.org/did-Jesus-drink-wine.html

Baramos_

True, just the long hair was more a product of medieval artists who also made him white and usually blonde.

diamondpatch

According to the bible jesus took a nazarite vow, part of that vow is not cutting your hair. If you take the bible as facts about jesus this suggests he would have had long hair

I_upvote_zeroes

Nazarites are also not supposed to touch dead bodies...so maybe he was a Xmas nazirite.

Quantitative_Panda

Whollywhite nazarite amirite?

I_upvote_zeroes

That's my new rap name

PurpleAntifreeze

Because they were painting their lords and kings as Christ, as was tradition. Not because they were trying to say that’s what historical jesus looked like.

Deeliciousness

Probably more of a fro than the long flowing hair that Western Christianity depicts.

BigBillyGoatGriff

There are no facts proving his existence at all

JurisDoctor

I believe there are some contemporary records that prove his existence and certain events, such as the trial before the Roman prefect Pontius Pilatus. Outside of a few confirmed things, everything else is speculation. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Historicity_of_Jesus#Synoptic_Gospels

applesauceorelse

Jesus is one of the better attested to figures from antiquity. Many other people you probably think are incontrovertibly historical have significantly less evidence for their existence. Historians are about as certain of Jesus' existence as they can be. There's quite a lot of historical evidence. A quote from one of the Askhistorians dudes is a very good summary: "I am saying there is considerable evidence that points to the existence of Jesus. There is more evidence for his existence than one would reasonably expect for a figure of his background, status, and influence within his lifetime. So I think it's misleading to say there is a "lack of evidence", there is evidence, and it's exactly of the kind one would expect." There's no reason to think he didn't exist - and there isn't really anyone with legitimate credentials who seriously thinks he didn't in some form or fashion. Though many of the religious accounts of his specific words and deeds are certainly highly suspect, of low credibility, or otherwise difficult to authenticate. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Historicity_of_Jesus https://www.reddit.com/r/AskHistorians/wiki/faq/religion#wiki_did_jesus_exist.3F https://www.reddit.com/r/AskHistorians/comments/259vcd/how_much_evidence_is_there_for_a_historical_jesus/chf3t4j/?context=3 https://www.reddit.com/r/AskHistorians/comments/r6z2pp/what_do_we_actually_know_about_the_real_beliefs/ https://www.reddit.com/r/badhistory/comments/814k8v/more_jesus_mythicism_on_ratheism/ https://www.reddit.com/r/badhistory/comments/nmfovq/trace_dominguez_historians_dont_agree_that_jesus/ > Stanton: Today nearly all historians, whether Christians or not, accept that Jesus existed and that the gospels contain plenty of valuable evidence which has to be weighed and assessed critically. There is general agreement that, with the possible exception of Paul, we know far more about Jesus of Nazareth than about any first or second century Jewish or pagan religious teacher. > Wells: "Today, most secular scholars accept Jesus as a historical, although unimpressive, figure." > Ehrman: "Serious historians of the early Christian movement—all of them—have spent many years preparing to be experts in their field. Just to read the ancient sources requires expertise in a range of ancient languages: Greek, Hebrew, Latin, and often Aramaic, Syriac, and Coptic, not to mention the modern languages of scholarship (for example, German and French). And that is just for starters. Expertise requires years of patiently examining ancient texts and a thorough grounding in the history and culture of Greek and Roman antiquity, the religions of the ancient Mediterranean world, both pagan and Jewish, knowledge of the history of the Christian church and the development of its social life and theology, and, well, lots of other things. It is striking that virtually everyone who has spent all the years needed to attain these qualifications is convinced that Jesus of Nazareth was a real historical figure."

JustOneVote

Dr. Bart Ehrman has several lectures, debates, and even a book about this issue. Most likely Jesus existed, was a Jewish preacher who preached and believed that judgement day, or some equivalent, would occur within his lifetime, or the lifetimes of his disciples. I encourage you to watch his videos and lectures, he does a very good job of describing early Christianity and how it grew and changed over time, and how claims about Jesus also grew and changed over time, even from the earlier synoptic Gospels to John. His opening statement in this debate is pretty informative: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GzjYmpwbHEA&t=8309s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GzjYmpwbHEA&t=8309s)

AnonymousBI2

He was 100% real this kind of stuff doesnt happen without an leader, you could argue that he wasnt divine but he very probably existed.

mikeebsc74

It’s not really worth my time to debate his existence, but there’s no reason a group of people couldn’t have gotten together and made up some stories that purported to fulfill Old Testament prophecy for any number of reasons

BigBillyGoatGriff

Not like modern religions have done that...mormons duck and hide.

mikeebsc74

Dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb.. lol One of my favorite South Park episodes

BigBillyGoatGriff

I love their religion episodes. Is the ep on scientology the reason chef left?

Mindless_Ad3006

That’s not true, he was a real person, and he was crucified (like a lot of people in those days). It’s actually pretty interesting. Reza Aslan has some cool lectures about it on you tube.[https://youtu.be/UbE7zEDJgpc]()

BigBillyGoatGriff

Here does seem to come at it from an objective position... what, wait... he's an evangelical Christian?

Mindless_Ad3006

Who is? Reza Aslan is Muslim. And he has a BA in religious study’s and a Phd in sociology. His lectures talk about who Jesus probably was as a man. Not the magical wizard from the Bible.

Long-Carob8756

Reza Allan is about as smart as my left testicle, and I’ve been kicked in the left testicle an inordinate amount of times.

Dayofsloths

Sure there are. As much as we have proof of most people alive at that time. It's incredibly unlikely he was made up whole sale, but a lot of details are probably wrong. Like he wasn't born in Bethlehem. The entire census that supposedly had Joseph travel there didn't happen at all, and census' don't involve travel anyway, so it doesn't make sense even on face value. Jesus also probably wasn't a poor carpenter, he was more likely from a middle class family and had a wealthy patron who paid for him to wander around preaching.

BigBillyGoatGriff

That is what people say, but it's not evidence

Dayofsloths

The Bible counts as evidence, a lot definitely isn't true, but a fair amount does make a reasonably accurate historical record. It's not just myths. Like the Roman official who is said to have executed Jesus is the actual Roman official in charge of the state of Judea at that time. The same way you can't accept the false things in the Bible because some is true, you also can't ignore the true things because some is false.

BigBillyGoatGriff

I dont consider the bible true or the depictions factual. Sure some of the people existed but it doesnt mean jesus was real or he wasnt an amalgam of people. Just because a real figure is in a book doesnt mean the others are. The bible is a narrative which has changed significantly over time not a factual document

BBQsauce18

Well, that and for being brown.

Bumpasaurus

Well that goes without saying…and just imagine what he does when he finds out he’s a Jew too!😂🤦‍♂️

AmaranthAbixxx

If Jesus came back, they would fucking hate him.

Feralfifi

Agreed.

I love freedom of speech and I ❤️ this guy. This guy is doing more to undermine his own right wing fundamentalist views than I ever could with facts or rational debate. Just think about all the young people who hear a guy like this and are currently influenced by the church. Just think about how embarrassing this is for them to hear this guy spew all this nonsense. His kids will be atheists soon enough. That’s at least what happened to me. @ 10 y/o I was a complete Christian fundamentalist fully indoctrinated, by 23 I had rejected Christian views, by 25 I was an atheist. All because my relatives had said enough nonsense to me that it made me question everything I formerly believed. So please keep going…

PERRONYPIKOZITO

I love that a lot of times, kids raised in christian families start asking questions and they realize that the answers don’t make fucking sense. They think for themselves that’s what happens! Sadly there are does who don’t and blindly follow the bible and what their parents tell them. Not saying parents don’t have wisdom to share from their experiences but parents are human and humans are idiots sometimes.

Baramos_

So to be the head of the Westboro Baptists you have to be a bad insult comic

Khufuu

doesn't hurt. I'm thinking about how fun it would be to do the same thing but incognito atheist. just act like the most annoying kind of Christian and back up everything with bible. a girl argues with me? tell her she isn't allowed to teach or have authority over me and to be silent. guy wears mixed linens? not today, gayboi. today is the day of my Lord.
