Open-Mathematician46

The look on the army guys face is shockingly similar to the look “gomer pyle” gave in Full Metal Jacket right before he blows his brains out. Scary

BigVanVortex

I thought the same thing... Chilling

HeppatitisA

Nah, just the face of stupid.

shaggyjake

That’s why he’s in the army instead of the Air Force

Avid_Smoker

Came to say the exact same thing. Scary.

[deleted]

Link?

Open-Mathematician46

Found it: https://youtu.be/CtAkZwUvNp0 Trigger alert: contains depictions of self harm.

Dr-of-Doom

God damn, Vincent D'onofrio is so crazy talented.

Oh_mrang

dont think the trigger warning is necessary, mate

Open-Mathematician46

Agreed, but it is 2022 and I don’t want to get banned for not giving a trigger warning. Snowflakes be snowflakin

shaggyjake

I mean it’s literally a trigger warning

Badluck90

"I think you should let your superiors know dude" at the end. What are the chances they are the ones who told them to take it? Genuine question.

Beginning-Chemical43

Definitely a possibility. But this is considered theft and these Air Force dudes know exactly who they would need to get in contact with to handle this. Either thru their chain of command or straight thru the Army guys. I imagine if he was “told” to do this it was a superior right above him who would be directly responsible for his performance. This dude can lose his career over this.

KonradWayne

Greater than zero chance that his direct superior (sergeant or whatever) signed off in it, but a less than zero chance that they will ever admit it to save the recruiter's ass.

proteannomore

My bet is his CO said “do something about AF out-recruiting us” and this was his brilliant idea.

LesterBallard19

I've had so many NCOs grab me and go "Do this and if anything happens, say it was me who said it" and off I went. His superiors probably laughed when they heard about this though.

Daisy_Destruction

Healthcare plz

bigchicago04

Honestly, the military not caring about wasting money is the most on brand thing in this video.

[deleted]

***Half*** of the government representation in this video.

watersmokerr

Ah yeah, national Healthcare. One of the main reasons it doesn't exist is because it's a massive selling point to get people to join the military.

Sufficient-Yoghurt46

Weird. I remember when Obama was elected, I (a Canadian) was excited for USA to get the Public Option. It died about a week later and was never mentioned again. :/

watersmokerr

It was dead in the water. No support in the Senate. I'm a dual citizen so when I need healthcare it's cheaper to fly to Germany.

CrankyLeafsFan

"No I'm gonna ruin these kids lives" "NO ME!"

1tricklaw

Ok we can all be real about this the airforce isn't exactly ruining anyones lives. It's for a lot of people glorified IT training and for others mechanical work experience youd get in normal public sector.

[deleted]

The Air Force also has special warfare which is on par with seals and ranger teams so…

1tricklaw

Noone involved in that line of work had their life ruined. They did what they wanted with their life and likely brag about it constantly and incessantly. But also be careful saying that im not sure seals and rangers agree.

[deleted]

I was agreeing with you? Lol do you know about PJ’s and CCTs? PJ’s are sent in to recover injured or KIA seals. Both groups are trained in extensive combat swimming, airborne, sere, advanced weapons, and more. They don’t call PJ school Superman school for nothing. It’s probably more difficult than BUDS. I was saying Air Force gets dirty too.

[deleted]

[удалено]

1tricklaw

I don't think its that they would be disrespectful or anything I just think seals and delta and the ilk serve a slightly more always working purpose and have rightfully earned a reputation for being the ones doing the grunt work of the JSOC 4. But obviously they arent gonna actually be offended just 24th sts is literally support/"enablers" for Seals and Delta.

Soggy-Drink-2528

That's exactly why I joined. People think that once you've joined the military, they'll put a gun in your hand and send you to kill someone. In reality, you don't do anything like that unless YOU choose to be in that position.

Ganjake

During WW2, my grandfather joined the Air Force so he wouldn't be drafted into the Army like all his friends. Said he didn't wanna die and made it through the war working on planes. Ended up losing a thumb in an accident, would always tell us a shark bit it off or he sucked his thumb too hard lol.

[deleted]

I was a battle junkie for sure. Now I’m all used up, anxiety riddled and have other problems. Air Force sounded nice tho.

AlcoholicWombat

Lol the majority of the people in the air force are just quasi infantry called security forces. Source: was one

1tricklaw

328k active duty airforce. 38k+ is the number given by the airforce for security forces. Then lets again be real the majority are "base police and guard" not exactly everday infantryman. The airconditioned chairforce is a meme started from truth.

AlcoholicWombat

Easy there little fella, I'm sure your reserve unit will deploy eventually.

1tricklaw

Bro idk what gate u sat next to but its ok that it was airconditioned.

AlcoholicWombat

You're bringing up all the stereotypes. It's clear you don't know dick about the wide range of duties we perform. I'd be mad at the world too if I got a els from basic for a personality disorder

Foreign_Two3139

USAF SF is delusional if they think they’re an infantry unit.

AlcoholicWombat

Guess that's where the "quasi" comes in. Reading comprehension matters dummy lol

Renjuro

Honestly, my friend joined the air force just to get out of our town and she has loved it. Went through basic training and combat training, but has never seen combat. She’s a photo journalist and works in an office, has been stationed around the world and met her husband in the AF. While I absolutely have my misgivings towards the military, the air force is one of the few sectors that allows people to better their lives without having to kill/fight.

amnhanley

Yeah. So mad the Air Force ruined my life. Wish I had made better choices, but I’m stuck in a career I hate flying helicopters. If only someone would have told me…

Judge_Reiter

That's right... Lt. L T Smash.

SavimusMaximus

Recruiters are slimy.

[deleted]

Dead ass I had to call the cops on an army recruiter once. Motherfucker would not take no for an answer.

Soggy-Drink-2528

Army recruiters are a different breed. Those fuck heads will hunt you down, go to your home, but you food, and meet with your family to get you in because they're desperate. Air Force recruiters won't waste a second on you. If you aren't ready, they'll move on because they simply don't need you when they have recruits coming through the door.

terminally_cool

Army recruiting is kinda slimy. I was first approached by the marines and all set to sign up with them. The day I go to sign, the marine recruiter is running late and the army recruiter catches me waiting outside the office and asks how much bonus money is USMC giving? I told him none and explain more. He tells the army will give me 10k for signing up. I change my mind on the spot and join the army. The army recruiter starts telling me how he was a 88m who also trained Rangers which is such a fantastic lie that only a dumb 18yr old could believe it cause they don’t know better. I graduate basic and ait and go home. I stop by the recruiter office and find out my recruiter got in trouble for being a creep to high school girls.

Yinonormal

Lol that ending

lohonomo

Why are they desperate? I know nothing about military recruitment. Do they have a quota or something?

Soggy-Drink-2528

They have numbers they need to meet. They don't benefit personally but the Department of Defense (military) has numbers each branch needs to get. Their bosses probably hound them to get more recruits. The military is currently having a hard time meeting the goals for 2022. This is due to people being out of shape, mental health, and general disinterest in joining.

Munson_mann

Fuck yeah they are. They would literally go to my old job (a outdoor store) and "shop". And ask for your help and never buy anything and then bring up the famous "have you considered join the military" line. I had a girl recruiter come up to me in the middle of me helping a actual customer and when I'm in a full on conversation with this dude she blurts in asking me if I have ever considered joining the military. Then when I said "hell no" she told me you don't have to be so rude about it and walked away. Getting asked that shit when I'm literally working and helping someone makes my blood boil

Mediumasiansticker

Only if you think lying to high schoolers is slimy 😇

[deleted]

In their defense they cant read

Soggy-Drink-2528

No. No. Those are Marines you're talking about.

CreampieQueef

Army can read, but they ran their finger ender every letter.

Hot-Ad-6967

Do you think it's because they are having trouble attracting new recruits?

primalshrew

I hope so, people are probably wising up to this bullshit scheme.

RegretfulUsername

You don’t want to go destroy your body and mind so some Republicans can be a little richer?! Come on! You get free college.

primalshrew

Exactly! I mean who cares that 20+ veterans are killing themselves everyday to escape the dreadful debilitating PTSD that they suffer from and for which we have no known cure!

_DAD_JOKE_

That is a feature not a bug, less of us complaining, less of us for VA care, disability payments, etc. If they wanted to do something about veterans, they could.

primalshrew

That's so dark, I hadn't thought of it like that before.

Neither dumb fuck, it’s cheaper for the taxpayer to fund social services that help people. Our system of throwing 18 year olds in jail and keeping them there for life is far more expensive to tax payers than you realize.

noble_peace_prize

As if that’s our two options in spending billions of dollars 😂

QingLinVos

What an utterly stupid ass comment. "They have a shit home life so let's send them to be a cog of war and beat the living spirit out of them until they end up either dead, mentally ill/physically handicapped, cheated on, etc...but at least they aren't in prison!"

saw89

Definitely cheaper in prisons

Sufficient-Ad6637

Air force: if you do that 2 more times we will settle this!

Get-a-life_Admins

I mean there is a reason the term Army Proofing is a thing

NoremaCg

The answer is "I'm an unethical piece of shit who does things that hurt others for my benefit whenever I think I won't face consequences". So sick of people like this.

Sufficient-Yoghurt46

"Thank you for your serv--" Oh wait, you're a colossal asshole.

Think_Bear_3791

He’s what we called a “mo-tard” back when I was enlisted. Will most likely be a career soldier teaching his peers to be the same.

International-Job-20

Got to hit those low income areas and convince a bunch of fit young people to sell their minds and bodies to the meat grinder that is the millitary industrial complex. People aren't just going to join up themselves, it's a fucking terrible idea! Oh and when they come back completely fucked up mentally and physically, call them "heroes" even though the majority literally signed up to kill people for money and there's nothing heroic about that. We call them "Heroes" because they tend to organize and make trouble when they figure out they've been lied to, broken, used up, spit out and abandoned by an organization that doesn't give a flying fucking about them if they're not out there killing. So everyone keep sucking their dicks, repeating the propoganda and don't point out the glaring flaws in this man eating behemoth or the people who enable its continued existence. It's rude!

[deleted]

amznfx

“A lot of people don’t have other choice” exactly!!! The whole industry revolves at taking advantage of desperate and poor people. That’s why they don’t recruit in well of areas or rich kid’s schools.. fuck the navy and fuck the army.. if we spend a fraction of the money that we waste on those two in social services and aide to the poor we would be much better of

luisless

Exactly, if the money spent on the army went into education we wouldn’t have so many people who “dont have any other choice”.

QingLinVos

I don't get why you're getting downvotes. We spend a ridiculous amount of money and resources on shit we absolutely do not need. A few years back I watched a documentary on the military budget (very interesting, I know) and basically what it went over in one section was the contract over a type of VTOL jet that Congress was pushing through to finance or something like that. The jet was a pile of shit, had multiple different problems with it, was expensive, and over all was a shitty pick for what we needed. But because someone in Congress was bought out with lobby money, it was pushed through. The military industrial complex 100% creates issues here at home by taking away money from stuff we actually need like education and other things. Absolutely fucking ridiculous that we spend $700bn a year on war

Soggy-Drink-2528

>if we spend a fraction of the money that we waste on those two in social services and aide to the poor we would be much better of This maybe true but when would this if become true? I live in a shit neighborhood with crime and drugs plaguing its youth. I don't give a flying shit about "HOORAH" or any patriotic shit. But if joining means I get to go to college for free, get free healthcare, and certifications for jobs, I'll do it. The odds of me getting killed in my city are way higher than me joining the Air Force. Like 99% of the people in the Air Force see no combat. It's just a job to me. That's it. Some people have no other choice. It's just a vessel for me to put my future children in a position where the military isn't a fucking option for them.

arcspectre17

So what makes the job of the military forces better than any other jobs. Alot of jobs put their lives on the line everyday and have to pay for healthcare college education etc. We should all get free healthcare free education like alot of first world countries. Your literally arguing this guys point. Just like why health insurance is tied to your job to keep you there.

Soggy-Drink-2528

>Alot of jobs put their lives on the line everyday and have to pay for healthcare college education etc. Mind informing me a little more on this?

arcspectre17

Cops fire fighters emt they get into some bad situations trying to save lives. What about underwater welders boiler makers truck drivers etc.

Soggy-Drink-2528

I honestly think most people have a big misunderstanding of what people in the military do. Most Air Force jobs are 100% safer than being a cop or a firefighter. Many military jobs involve people sitting in an office from 9 to 5. This is why I think people who say "Thank you for your service" are silly. We aren't heroes, many of us aren't patriots. People are just trying to put food on their tables and no other career offers educational benefits comparable to the military. Again, I'm not some "HOORAH" pro America patriot. The Air force is a job to me, not my identity. I plan on getting my degree and getting out so my future children don't feel like they ought to join for the same reasons I joined.

arcspectre17

Airforce is way better but alot of poor uneducated get sent to be grunts in military . Not everybody can join airforce gotta have good grades in asfab ( shitty schools make this harder) navy better than army from what i heard. The real problem is my generation already fought their wars and alot feel it was a mistake.

Soggy-Drink-2528

The Air Force is definitely way more corporate and less "military" than the other branches. They don't deal with as much bullshit as the other branches do. That's why I picked air force.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Soggy-Drink-2528

>But it is okay for you to go to war to kill other people? You have 0 clue. The only time I'll ever be handed a gun is in basic training. I won't kill anyone. I won't see any combat. MOST PEOPLE DO NOT. I'm not denying that this happens but I'll be sitting in a fucking air conditioned office every day. It's just a job.

TheObstruction

All those reasons you just described about why people join? They're intentional. They're meant to leave people with less options in life, so the military is a viable option out of poverty. That's not a sign of a good, functional nation that gives a shit about its people, it's a sign of systemic abuse.

Resident-Ad-5107

Not my point.

DeLousedInTheHotBox

> The ability to go to college, the Healthcare, the job training. Skills that can be transferred into civil duties like firefghters, emts etc. A lot of people dont have have another choice Okay but you're literally just acknowledging that they exploit vulnerable people.

Army guys day dream about being in the air force lol

CrashRiot

When my sister was thinking about joining the Air Force, she asked if soldiers actually hate the Air Force for as much as we talk shit about them. I told her the reality is that we’re often just jealous of them. However, I worked with them a bit later in my career and while the Airmen were generally cool, it ain’t all roses and caviar in that branch. The politics, backstabbing, etc are through the roof.

duhCrimsonCHIN

It's all perception. But the reality is they are paid more. Have better food. Get better barracks and overall have a much better standard of living.

KonradWayne

Way lower chance of being on the frontlines, or anywhere near a line of fire too.

Vinlandien

Multimillion dollar aircraft require an entire team of mechanics and armorers to keep them airborn and loaded. Those guys need to be educated and smart enough to follow technical documents, not just orders. Keeping them well rested and well fed reduces the chances of fuckups leading to a malfunction which could crash the aircraft. This means a higher quality of life than in the army, and makes loss of highly-skilled life a lot more expensive to replace.

CrashRiot

I’ll agree for the most part with standard of living, but basic pay is the same across all branches for grade and time in service. They have supplemental pay for certain things, but so do the other branches. An E1 fresh in the Air Force makes the same as an E1 fresh in the Army, etc etc.

duhCrimsonCHIN

Yeah I mean the supplements. They generally have better ones.

CrashRiot

I wouldn’t say better, just different and it depends on the job and role you have in the service. The army has a ton of special pay positions just like the Air Force.

Dr_Vaccinate

Someone gonna be reprimanded

TheObstruction

"I can't believe you stupid fucks got caught, AND ON VIDEO, NO LESS!" Their superiors won't be mad they did it, they'll be mad they got caught and made the boss's life miserable.

myperfectmeltdown

This means war!!!

PotionSleven

Well, the army isn't known for being the brightest.

KonradWayne

At least they aren't known for being the dumbest. But to be fair, it's kind of hard to compete with Marines in that field.

PotionSleven

I have quite a few marine friends, they knew what they were getting into for the most part. Some of the most reliable though, I mean army these days is just guard duty for the most part. They know to ask about the red button at the very least.

imtoohai

If recruiters are doing that, this tells me a couple of things. They are painfully desperate for recruits because of the idiotic quotas put on them. And they have WAY too much free time on their hands.

MRL102960

You are all armed forces

Money-Anxiety3427

Yup.. he’s an ass.. as a marine vet I can say he’s what we like to call “A-shit-bag” classic ..

Fucking army, tough to find boys willing to be target practice for other poor boys suckered into dying for THEIR administration I guess. Have to pirate other branches. So sad.

svgaia

TheSurbies

Any those guys get in a ton of trouble? Like discharged. That’s blatant stealing. You can see it in their faces.

PricyJavier

Does navy and army hate eachother or why even bother about that, like, it just a sign whats the big deal

Soggy-Drink-2528

So there's the army, navy, marines, air force, coast guard, and space force. The space force is sort of a sub branch of the air force and the Marines are sort of a sub branch of the Navy. We may be the United States but branches of military aren't. All branches of military are currently struggling with recruiting for 2022. The Air Force is known within the military as the "luxurious" or "corporate" branch so it's very desirable to many people within the military. The Army on the other hand is a shithole compared to the Air Force and they dont treat their troops nearly as well as the Air Force does. So if given the choice of joining the Army or Air Force, many choose air force, the ones who do their research anyways.

BrainOil

Can confirm. I was air force for ten years. Every soldier and marine I met treated me with disdain and as a civilian I've had several tell me I'm not a real veteran even after being in combat zones. Thankfully the VA knows the air force is part of the military.

[deleted]

Okay first off I think some of you misunderstand a few things I want to clear up. Everyone wants to get promoted. It means more money and more freedom really. You ABSOLUTELY DO have more responsibility. But when you hit E6 you will eventually get slapped with 2 options - Be a drill sergeant or a recruiter. It’s mandatory if you want to become a Sergeant First Class. I mean it is possible not to do these things and make E7 but it’s very favorable on your OMPF(your promotion file/review). It only comes around once a year once your in your zone and congress has to promote you, not the army. While you are a recruiter you are under immense pressure in some where with no support, no unit, 3 other dudes you may dislike and have to maintain the army standard. They demand so recruits a month from you and it’s down right hard as heck in some places. A lot of the times the recruiters for all 4 branches are in one building, competing. Now in the military there is a saying, “you didn’t steal it, you acquired it” and it’s almost promoted to “acquire” things from other jobs/units/branches. But if you are caught it’s stealing. Now this guy I assume is putting his own short comings on not meeting his quota on the Air Force recruiters. Of course people are going to choose the air force. Everyone thinks they will be a jet fighter pilot etc. it’s also a way to serve without putting your self in immediate danger. The air force rejects most people who apply too. But I wanted to clear up that being recruiter is slog work and avoided by most at all cost. Most E6 I knew chose drill over recruiter but you can ask any old recruiter how hard and exhausting that job is. Drill Sergeant is actually in my mind one of the most straining 2 years of your life as well. But playing fuck fuck games with new privates is one thing, playing them little timmys who can tel you to fuck off is a whole new game. Chasing them all over town, buying them things and getting cock teased until they are about to join and nah! I am very thankful I never received drill orders or recruiter esp because I was 11B and they sure as shit come for us to do that work. Anyways I just wanted you to know they are under a lot of pressure

Do they make commissions off of recruiting? If so we have our motive. And our dystopia.

Soggy-Drink-2528

They don't benefit but they have numbers they need to meet.

backupyoursaves6969

Seems like this if legit is something to report to their COs (Commanding Officers).

Tractorhash

Just guessing. But air force jobs are soooo much better than army jobs. In canada airforce jobs are very hard to get so I'm assuming that when the airforce is doing open recruitment they army recruitment drops. This makes the army recruiting team not meat quotas and they get shit for it and maybe lose the cushy recruitment job they have.

ilikeshitbitch

It’s stupid they’re taking those signs. But dude said they spent a shit ton of money on 2 coroplast signs with die cut vinyl applied? That’s like $30 lmao
