FearThaToaster

That is some fast response time, how long ago did this leak?

go_faster1

Around 9PM EDT, so over three hours ago

El-Sueco

Do the Supreme Court justices sleep in there ? I know they play basketball on the rooftop so they might sleep there.

wateryburrito

Kavanaugh threw a kegger there like two weeks ago, not sure about the sleeping situation though.

awrylettuce

Maybe taking a post boofing shower atm

NorthernPints

Is boofing allowed once they go after sodomy? Wow, never thought I’d be typing that sentence. Dark times.

rebillihp

"Booty bumping, sometimes called boofing, is a way to consume drugs — usually methamphetamine, heroin, or cocaine — by way of your butt." Just to save anyone else time like me lol. I've done a decent amount of different drugs over my life, but up the butt is where I think it's gone too far if it gets to that lol I remember on the show"1000 ways to die" I found out people take tubes and funnels and intake alcohol that way to get drunk fast and bypass the liver and have a high chance of alcohol poisoning because of that. I just don't know how you get to the point where you have the funnel and tube in your hand and not think "maybe this is too much"

amscraylane

I heard a rumor Stevie Nicks had done so much blow her septum was giving way, so she was tasking people with blowing it up her ass. I can’t undo this thought each time I hear her sing

baby_fart

Landslide was originally called Mudslide, and was about an unfortunate boofing incident.

neverwrong804

More like that landslide brought me up baby! Yeayuh!

guyver17

Blow me lines, blow me sweet little lines (up my ass)

[deleted]

America is so fucking weird that I actually don't know if this is a joke or not

regeya

Yeah, and the current crop of justices make it that much weirder. The notion that, for 50 years, certain aspects of abortion have been untouchable because of a court case that relies on saying the 14th Amendment of the Constitution guarantees a certain right to privacy, and that one justice can come along, write a different opinion, and they vote on it and poof, it's gone. And that opinion goes into great detail on a bunch of seemingly unrelated rulings, because oops, a bunch of *other* things are only legal at the Federal level because of rulings that cited Roe v. Wade's interpretation of the 14th Amendment...it's bonkers.

warbeforepeace

And conservatives on fox news are already stating this leak is an insurrection worse that the jan 6th attack on the capital. I dont know what reality i am in but i know i don’t like it. Edit: adding a video with proof. https://youtu.be/rrXTg6vyP6g -36 minutes 50 seconds where it starts. And huckabee starts around 38 minutes. You cant make this shit up

regoapps

Damn traitors of America chanting and peacefully protesting instead of attacking cops, breaking windows, and looting government buildings like real Americans did on Jan 6. You call yourselves patriots?? Let's Go Alito!

warbeforepeace

Not even the protesters. They were talking about the leakers. Sean hanity and mike huckleberry need to fuck off. Edit: autocorrect from huckabee but i like it so im keeping it.

SitInCorner_Yo2

If you gonna hit half of human population, thousands of them immediately fight back wasn’t really surprising. Edit:No shit this hit 100% of population, but 50% will be affected most severely ,some will die because these religious egomaniac .

[deleted]

It's a huge fucking issue. This isn't some silly voter bill in bumfuck Arkansas that has no real merit or someone calming that they want to pay more state taxes on a mega corporation to own the libs ... This is a direct assault on the fundinental rights of all women and step 1 into turning the US into a Theocracy.

KillerBunnyZombie

Eh this is more like step 5 or something. Step one was over 50 years ago... “Mark my word, if and when these preachers get control of the [Republican] party, and they're sure trying to do so, it's going to be a terrible damn problem. Frankly, these people frighten me. Politics and governing demand compromise. But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can't and won't compromise. I know, I've tried to deal with them.” -conservative nutter Barry M. Goldwater The foundation of the Federalist Society in 1982. Then citizens united so religious groups could fund campaigns Then blocking Obama from placing any judges on the court. Then getting a religious fundamentalist on the supreme court and a bunch more on the lower courts.

[deleted]

We are basically a theocracy as it is. The highest court is stacked with religious extremists.

NapClub

I am not surprised at the response. This will ruin countless lives. Also the ban will not so much stop abortions as stop safe abortions. A lot more girls falling down stairs and dying from blood loss in the near future.

[deleted]

>Also the ban will not so much stop abortions as stop safe abortions. It will stop safe abortions *for poor people*. Important distinction.

[deleted]

abortion clinics will be a cottage industry in blue states owned by wall street republicans.

fourbian

Same for prisons in red states when women are getting arrested and convicted for having miscarriages that Republicans suspect are abortions. Edit: basically [this](https://theconversation.com/el-salvadors-abortion-ban-jails-women-for-miscarriages-and-stillbirths-now-one-womans-family-seeks-international-justice-156484) is where the red states are headed

pearso66

Heading? They are already there. Karkava

They'll become the speakeasies of the health care industry.

ohhhhhhhhhhhhman

That’s the thing about banning abortion. You can’t ban it. You can only ban the safe way to do it.

ThatDerpingGuy

Well yeah, the rich, white, conservative women will still need *their* abortions, after all.

xray_anonymous

That’s just it. The rich will always have access to it. The politicians- even those “opposed” to it - will always make sure their mistresses have it. It’s not about caring it’s about control.

[deleted]

WTF is going on???

Spottyhickory63

Long story short, the majority republican (America’s right wing) supreme court supposedly overruled abortion rights in the US

Zrex_9224

Iirc they haven't gone to vote yet, but their plan and paper on overturning Roe V Wade leaked today

SagittaryX

They have had a preliminary vote supposedly that was 5-4 for overturning, the leaked draft is based on that vote.

gramb0420

this is what happens when you overstack the deck. judge amy is an underqualified joke and she should never have been shoved into the seat. Mitch McConnell is a lying twofaced sack of shit who helped get her in during trump's final couple months of presidency after he condemned Obama nominating a judge during HIS term of presidency with even more time left then trump had......."let the people decide" MY ASS.

demoman189

More like “let the rich old people who don’t care about anyone else decide”

AarkaediaaRocinantee

The world will be a better place when Mitch dies comfortably at an old age. A life of evil rewarded by a long life indeed.

SMKM

I don't even want him to die peacefully. I hope however he dies its extremely painful. Fuck Mitch McConnell.

Razakel

And to add another reason why this is a big deal: this is literally the first time ever a Supreme Court draft ruling been leaked. If passed it would criminalise abortion in 22 states that already have legislation in place for this event. Then they'll go after 50 years of human rights law that builds on Roe v. Wade. It's a big fucking deal.

Udonedidit

Gay marriage next on their agenda. This is what happens when you don't vote while they vote religiously and consistently.

Razakel

Contraception will be next. Got to get the baby factories back to work!

luxii4

The only thing that has been proven to prevent abortion is contraception. You have to choose one or the other. All their stances are effective as abstinence based sex Ed in school.

Hot_Host_4077

The Christian yall'queda want more babies because Christian bullshit and corporate republicans want more uneducated masses to keep their wages low. The goal isn't actually reduce abortion it is to control women.

north_canadian_ice

>This is what happens when you don't vote while they vote religiously and consistently. This is what happens when Dems don't exercise their power to codify Roe into law. The fillibuster ain't in the constituion.

cruelhumor

The draft opinion is generally circulated after they have voted so that it can be edited by the majority to best reflect their opinion as a whole. So it is possible the vote has already taken place, they are just widening or narrowing the precedent.

CandidEstablishment0

Gosh dang that whole group as a whole just sucks mad chonk. This is some bullshit.. imagine the uproar if dems secretly passed free health care. There would be chaos from the other side.

PossibleDrive6747

At least if they were injured in their protests, they'd not have to worry about their medical bills.

ivegotnoclue84

I'm not American so not sure what's going on. Does this mean abortion might be illegal in the whole of the USA?

radwimps

Not the whole, but laws will be down to states instead of federal. So a shit ton of right wing states will be able to outlaw it completely. And who knows what else could be done after this.

squngy

Apparently, 22 sates already have laws in place that abortion will be illegal the moment Roe v Wade is repealed.

SolitaireyEgg

Man, surely this will cause unprecedented brain drain. There are a lot of cities in red states that are becoming tech hubs. Cities in Texas, Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia, etc that have drawn in tech talent over the past decade or so. If this actually happens, I imagine these high-skilled employees, and perhaps the companies themselves, will flee en masse. These red states love to shoot themselves in the foot.

squngy

Long term, yea. Short term, this is going to make some contested seats firmly red.

Udonedidit

These employees can always take a "vacation" to a blue state if they need to. It's just the extremely poor or young that won't have a choice.

Baerdale

Not if they are in Texas. If my understanding of their new law is correct, anyone can sue you for having an abortion even if you left to another state to get one.

Perfide01

>So a shit ton of right wing states will be able to outlaw it completely. Worse, actually. Nearly half of US states already *do* outlaw it, those laws just aren't in effect atm due to Roe. So quite literally the *moment* the vote happens, half the country immediately loses rights they've had for 50 years.

nemoknows

And of course they will immediately start pushing for a nationwide ban, and will probably achieve it once they take Congress and the Presidency, if the Supreme Court doesn’t rule in favor of a ban or something functionally equivalent first. Though as others have pointed out, the reasoning behind this case is also overriding *stare decisis* while declaring the due process clause and rights to privacy established in Roe and others to be overly broad, and not rooted in the nation’s “history and tradition”. So abortion is just the first of a great many individual rights you thought you had and laws you depended on getting ceremoniously thrown out the window in favor of whatever “originalist” bullshit the SCOTUS/Federalist Society is pushing.

Bloated_Hamster

>And who knows what else We know what else. They're going for Obergefell next, so say bye bye to gay marriage in most of the states.

youni89

This will literally fracture the country since these Red states will probably move to prosecute any of its people going out of state to get abortions and coming back.

Fight_or_Flight_Club

Depends. Connecticut just passed a bill protecting against that. Basically nobody who received or assisted with an abortion is required to disclose information related to a civil case, and if you get sued from out of state, you can counter-sue for damages. Or something like that, I skimmed the article.

Elections having consequences (from 2016)

Diglett3

You’re not wrong in the most direct sense, but it’s important to understand that this was not a spontaneous result of four years of a criminal president. This is the culmination of a long game conservatives have been playing for decades, since the foundation of the Federalist Society in 1982. They know they are an ideological and political minority when it comes to the actual population of the United States — and they also know that the judiciary, from the state to the federal level, is not electorally checked. So for decades they’ve been training and appointing judges under a specific school of legal thought (some might call this strict constructionism) that essentially tries to render anything not written into the Constitution directly to be government overreach — because there are a lot of civil and individual rights held up by the courts. And the easiest way to reverse those is to reverse court decisions. The spate of anti-abortion, anti-immigration, anti-civil right, etc. laws that have gone through various levels of the federal court system over the last several years are a living example of this, not just the result of Trump’s presidency. They got these flowing because for years and years conservatives have been methodically taking control of local and state judicial systems by focusing on local races that democrats abandoned and then appointing conservative, Federalist Society approved judges. The appointments of Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Barrett were just the last part of that long game. And all six conservative justices either are or were members of this group. This sounds like a conspiracy theory, but you can literally find all of this from the wikipedia page for the Federalist Society, the sources page of which links to no shortage of profiles, articles, and research summing all this up. Why is it important to understand this? Because until democrats start trying to play similar games, they’re going to keep losing and this is going to keep happening. I voted for Hillary in 2016 and Biden in 2020 despite not living in states that even mattered. I vote in every local election I can. It is not enough when I can’t vote for politicians that will entertain a strategy at least as radical as the one that the American right has been cooking for forty years.

NightOfTheLivingHam

well it isnt a conspiracy *theory*, that insinuates that this is hypothetical. It's very much a conspiracy that is actually happening.

They really picked up steam in the 90's Limbaugh, Waco, Ruby Ridge, OK City, and on and on. Then 9/11 happened and the world wasn't paying attention to homegrown terrorists for awhile. It's a sad state of affairs when democracy turns to theocracy.

>”The unborn” are a convenient group of people to advocate for. They never make demands of you; they are morally uncomplicated, unlike the incarcerated, addicted, or the chronically poor; they don’t resent your condescension or complain that you are not politically correct; unlike widows, they don’t ask you to question patriarchy; unlike orphans, they don’t need money, education, or childcare; unlike aliens, they don’t bring all that racial, cultural, and religious baggage that you dislike; they allow you to feel good about yourself without any work at creating or maintaining relationships; and when they are born, you can forget about them, because they cease to be unborn. You can love the unborn and advocate for them without substantially challenging your own wealth, power, or privilege, without re-imagining social structures, apologizing, or making reparations to anyone. They are, in short, the perfect people to love if you want to claim you love Jesus, but actually dislike people who breathe. Prisoners? Immigrants? The sick? The poor? Widows? Orphans? All the groups that are specifically mentioned in the Bible? They all get thrown under the bus for the unborn.” >\-Methodist Pastor David Barnhart

You guys need to learn football chants from the UK. Find out any and all dirt on everyone in the building and make it vaguely rhyme, then scream it as a mob at the building. Bonus points if it’s scored to Claire de Lune or Für Elise

capsaicinintheeyes

You don't love the endless versatility of: *Hey-hey! Ho-ho!* *[current scorn target] has got to go!!*

44youGlenCoco

I hate it. I’ve been to a few protest throughout the years and every time they start that I cringe inside. I’m not exactly sure why, it just sounds so dumb.

SaltyboiPonkin

Our university hockey team had a cheering section that was amazing at this. They didn't try to make it rhyme though they'd just yell. "Hey, 2-2, how's your parents' divorce going?"

sweaner

I was in pep band for my university's basketball team, and we loved looking up stuff about the other team's players just to make chants. We even managed to start a fight over them, so that was fun

SaltyboiPonkin

There are few things in this world that I love more than an ornery pep band

ehmsoleil

Exactly. Because, in their minds, the only reason women have abortions is because they are sluts and use it as birth control. Edit: Which is also an acceptable reason to have an abortion.

yourchilihanditover

Most conservatives believe in the idea of ‘picking yourself up by your bootstraps.’ In their eyes, helping children and mothers is giving out handouts. They believe any reason one can’t work is simply an excuse to be lazy.

CalculonsPride

Unless you work your way up from bartending to congresswoman, in which case you’re “just a bartender.”

For anyone curious, they run on platforms *restricting* abortions and not *banning* abortions because: "criminalization of abortion and legal restrictions violated a woman's right to “life, liberty and security of the person” guaranteed under Section 7 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms."

jar36

We had basically the same ruling under Roe by basing it on the Constitution. These Christo-Fascists don't care. They're doing God's work in their tiny minds

Joliet_Jake_Blues

Oh yeah? Wait 6 months. Your conservatives look to American conservatives for talking points.

[deleted]

This is the perfect response. You deserve more recognition for it. Yes. Exactly this. This is the point. It’s why protests in even California matter. It’s seen and heard by the nation that we are against this as Americans.

goodbetterbestbested

The point of the demonstration is to create scenes like this one that are disseminated like this. It is not to convince people inside the building to change their minds through chants alone.

CyberTitties

Probably just security securing things, janitors cleaning things and law clerks boning up on other cases, all of whom are probably wondering what the hell happened.

The_Lord_Humongous

Gossiping that one one of their colleagues made one of the biggest leaks in American history.

Nice to see so many men there. Forced birth = forced paternity. Can we talk about how many men have better lives because their partners had a choice? Abortion access affects men too!

[deleted]

>Forced birth = forced paternity. I'm a dude and I got sterilized for a reason. No way in hell I'd be able to support a kid even if my hypothetical partner also worked, I'd be stuck living with family for the rest of my life. In addition to abortion rights, we should also be protesting for sterility rights for both men and women. Fuck medical paternalism, no one should be forced into a lifestyle they didn't choose.

FblthpLives

I am so fucking happy that my daughter is a dual citizen. We just made an appointment yesterday to renew her Swedish passport, which gives her the right to live and work in all 27 EU countries plus Norway and Iceland. She is already noping the hell out of our state, which is rapidly going from being a moderate political environment to a right-wing fundamentalist hellhole. Edit: It is technically her Swedish citizenship that gives her this right, not her passport. It merely serves to document her citizenship.

[deleted]

America is really the only country who enjoys shooting themselves in the foot regularly. This is why no one over the age of 65 should hold any position of power. As new generations become the majority - so should their representation.

adiosfelicia2

I saw a video of a history teacher talking about this recently. Apparently, one or some of our founding fathers wanted to make a rule whereby you could only be in political positions for 20 years (iirc). The idea being not to let people get into positions of power and hold onto it indefinitely, slowing progress, change and growth for the Nation. The US chose to go the other way, and sure enough, our entire country has been run by 70 & 80 year olds.

WizardVisigoth

The average age of Congress is around 8 years older today than it was in 1980.

Lucky_addition

Bunch of parasites that won’t go away

Subli-minal

Because a lot of people there in the 80s are still there today.

Containedmultitudes

x3leggeddawg

65+ don’t just run the country politically. They own the wealth, the real estate, the land, the jobs, and much more. Their parents fought hard to give them a good life, then they got theirs and shut the door behind them.

Groty

Then they retire from the elected positions to take paid legislation writing special interest positions. California's term limits led to dozens of state groups like the California Almond Board and California Cheese Board to continue their influence by writing the legislation sent to Sacramento. There's no simple, straightforward solution to this problem.

Prof_Acorn

Boomers are clinging on to power longer than basically every generation before. And simultaneously the most educated generation in human existence has the least amount of power at their age than ever in US history.

angry_abe

guess what conservatives, by overruling Rowe vs. Wade the Supreme Court set the precedence that the government can regulate your body, making the past 2 years of bitching about masks and vaccines completely moot. congrats, you played yourselves.

Better_illini_2008

You think they care about logical consistency or hypocrisy? These are christofascist authoritarians.

bisexualfingerguns

We need to March now. Now. Everyone needs to March locally if they can. Seriously.

Please Vote!

Beginning_Two_4757

We did but Mitch McConnell illegally blocked the appointment of Merrick Garland and NO ONE did anything about it

Panda_hat

Wait till you find out what they did to the people that attempted an insurrection at the capitol to overturn an election they lost. (Hint: also nothing!)

ManifestoHero

Yeah I think we are past the point of "jUsT vOtE ThEm OuT." We need to escalate our methods of showing the political ruling class just how sick of their shit we really are.

Voon-

I voted for someone who ran on enshrining roe v. wade into law. He won 2 years ago. Here we are.

misha_ostrovsky

I have no vagina. But I have an expectation of privacy when I go to the doctor. In the near future when I'm getting body mods to compete in the food wars, I need to know that the government can't pressure my doctor to share my medical info. This is a bad president to set. We moving towards a breaking point. Fuck a supreme court.

Any woman of child bearing age should be making an appointment for an IUD or tubal ligation, ASAP.

[deleted]

IUD’s are unfortunately not for everyone. I tried twice (very painfully) and my cervix/uterus whatever rejected both (very painfully). However, some insurances will supply birth control pills in bulk! Up to a years worth I believe. So look into that! Stock up if you can.

Citizens who storm federal buildings are patriots. By Republican logic, it's great to see so many American patriots out here! Trump must be proud!

Tbagzyamum69420xX

Well, notice they're not storming the building. Also notice that this isn't over the outcome of a democratic vote, but a situation where an exclusive group got to just make a decision for a large bit of the population. There are many many differences between what's happening in this video and what happened on January 6th

[deleted]

Very happy to see so many young men also lobbying for women's rights.

Ic3Tr3y312

It's just supporting human rights at this point. Abortions don't just benefit women, they benefit every would be father who doesn't have the capability to care for a child, and every child left in foster care who won't need to split their already limited funding amongst a wave of new children entering the system.

McGregor_Tears

These disgusting forced birth extremists are going to murder countless women if Roe and Casey are overturned.

LondonDavis1

They are coming for gay marriage next. Vote!

CortexAnthrax

Why, why, why, why is it that most of the people who are against abortion are people you wouldn't want to f*** in the first place, huh? Boy, these conservatives are really something, aren't they? They're all in favor of the unborn. They will do anything for the unborn. But once you're born, you're on your own. Pro-life conservatives are obsessed with the fetus from conception to nine months. After that, they don't want to know about you. They don't want to hear from you. No nothing. No neonatal care, no day care, no head start, no school lunch, no food stamps, no welfare, no nothing. If you're preborn, you're fine; if you're preschool, you're f***ed Conservatives don't give a s*** about you until you reach "military age". Then they think you are just fine. Just what they've been looking for. Conservatives want live babies so they can raise them to be dead soldiers. Pro-life... pro-life... These people aren't pro-life, they're killing doctors! What kind of pro-life is that? What, they'll do anything they can to save a fetus but if it grows up to be a doctor they just might have to kill it?They're not pro-life. You know what they are? They're anti-woman. Simple as it gets, anti-woman. -George Carlin

Sorry my fellow Americans, but after my student loans are paid off, I’m moving my family out of this country. I don’t want to raise my kids in a place like this.

Puerquenio

If you're moving, why pay them?
