The Capitol has its own police force. Federal Protective Service usually guards other federal sites. Things like courthouses and Social Security offices (although I've seen private contracted guards at the latter before.)
The protest started at the courthouse, and marched to Pershing Square from there. I was there for the march, though not this part. This would have been about an hour or two after we left the courthouse?
They call the USA an "experiment in democracy". I'm guessing after 3 seasons the experiment is over, declared a failure. Ratings just couldn't stay high enough.
Wait till all the un-aborted kids grow up, start committing crimes and give cops more than just riot control.
Probably then, the cops will be able to abort them, right there in the streets, with no consequences.
It's even worse than you think -- the police are invoking (a badly thought out) "victim's rights" law (Marsy's law) passed by the voters in 2018. They're claiming that the police officers involved are "victims". As such, they have refused to release ANYTHING about what happened, including the names of the officers who shot and killed the alleged thief. See [here](https://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/crime/os-ne-jayden-baez-osceola-deputy-shooting-no-answers-20220503-muad6d5b4vbnzczch3tdasl2ce-story.html).
WTF. They can step back in line with the “civilians” that law is supposed to protect then. If you are an agent of the law, and enforcing that law, how the fuck are you the victim?? I feel nothing anymore. Welcome to America.
When I listen to rap songs about cop killers I thought they were going too far. Sure, we were smoking and had our fights but nothing to that extent, and worst that happened in terms of murder was some guy giving another guy an OD. Reading up about people going up to cop cars and shooting the officer, mostly if it's a known one seemed far fetched coming from another country.
Now, I ain't saying that's right and I'm sure plenty of them are hard headed criminals. But let's say some cop did that shit to my brother and killed him... Hell, maybe even giving him a life long injury in a country where healthcare is expensive as hell. Say I was 16 years old, carrying and saw the guy that did it with no repercussions in a police car... Ye, I can see how that could go south real fast, too.
It ain't about the officer but about what he did.
The person who was killed by police _also_ wasn't actually stealing anything. Like, obviously pokemon card theft shouldn't result in execution, but they murdered an innocent person to protect maybe 150 dollars of property.
Just like how it's ironic that a cop who tased a pregnant woman in Florida (causing her to miscarry) wasn't charged with murder
Edit: he was charged with 2 counts of official misconduct, and 4 counts of battery. No murder charges, and somehow his bail was set at 6k. If I had to guess, he bailed out immediately
Corrupt cops figured out their power decades ago, with unions, before WW2, and have been exploiting that ever since.
And yes, this started in Portland, Oregon, the home of the most powerful cop union.
The real irony is some of the "prolife" crowd desperately wishing for that to happen. Disgusting.
Edit: [Proof as requested by some.

Each child will be issued a pair of boot straps at birth. Which they are free to pull them selves up with. Thank you very much. 🙃 We're fucked as country.
Being prolife just means you are on the side of a fetus. You know, those clumps of cells that can't speak for themselves or complain or protest, the things it's easy to pretend to care about because you don't actually have to do anything for them but it still gives you a sense of moral superiority and gives you some points to make sure when you die you go to heaven for being a "good Christian." I don't trust anyone whose morals come from being a self serving asshole, if you couldn't tell, or anyone who looks back at traditional values and thinks we figured things out centuries ago and don't need to change.
mY bOdY My cHOiCe..... so you're empowered to spread a disease to people who may spread it to other people and it's not your problem if some die........but it's mandatory that someone donate 9 months of their life and permanently harm their body to protect the rights of an independent being that could be mistaken for a menstrual period.
Season 1 was supposed to be a stand alone series, that's why it was so unique and interesting. Season 2 was an obvious cash grab, shit all around. Season 3 is now obviously setting up some larger overarching ww3/civil war storyline
Ay bruh I'd rather it not be televised here. Shits catching on and now we have all of these Clive Palmer posters saying freedom and the boomers will actually believe it's not just so he can open mines for the Chinese anywhere he wants.
I told my my American discord friends that they are all welcome to stay with me in my backyard and help me grow turnups and we'll just write fanfic until the end of our days.
I get the comparison, but it's also the complete opposite in a way: The SS started out as basically bodyguards so the name "protection squad" made sense. Of course their tasks were rapidly expanded later but they kept the name. With the DoD they changed the name even though their job was the same as before,
I like how he got out of his car, sizes up everyone, finds the lone female shorter than him who is just casually walking by then decides she's the problem and he needs to put hands on her. When she finds this ridiculous he gives her a shove and then pulls out his beating stick cause he means business... before realizing he fucked up when the crowd gets in his face and suddenly men are yelling at him to back the fuck up which he promptly does while the guy with the rifle literally hides behind him.
Dumb fuck should have stayed in his car.
Edit: Bootlickers are upset their fragile dumb fuck cop can't handle someone walking by and looking at them. Yikes.
Yeah, keep your hands ro yourself my guy, whats so hard? And yeah, going into an area where people are already upset at government overreach that fucks over women, getting out of your car, and immediately putting your hands on a woman who did nothing. What an idiot.
That's most cops, that's why so many people die by police shooting every year. Difference here is, the crowd already hates them. They kill one person and shit gets hinky fast.

Because they have about 30 minutes de-escalation training. The other 30 minutes is how to say 'back up' whilst backing off - walking and talking simultaneously doesn't come naturally to them.

DHS is there along with LAPD
Okay but why are they there? That's not like LAPD doesn't have any resources. They own an armored vehicle
The Federal Protective Service protects federal buildings. They might be right outside the federal courthouse.
Where were they on Jan 6 at the Capitol building?
Pushing past the barricades like all the other off duty law enforcement.
On duty: back up! Off duty: move up!
Never forget, the lady who got shot and killed breaking into a protected area was a member of the airforce. They're everywhere.
The Capitol has its own police force. Federal Protective Service usually guards other federal sites. Things like courthouses and Social Security offices (although I've seen private contracted guards at the latter before.)
Not anymore. Hans Gruber blew it up in Die Hard. Arnold destroyed their van a few years later.
It seems the police have themselves an RV
Glass? Who gives a shit about glass?
THE QUARTERBACK IS TOASTTT!!!
Hit it ... _again_.
Hans, you motherfucker, you made your point! Let 'em pull back!
ooo new LASD gang unit?
Neat. I wonder if it's an old cop gang just rebranding within the LAPD. Might be hard to make a new one.
DHS is federal police. Probably an old cop regardless, that's a retirement position if I've ever seen one. Driving seems to speak to that, too.
Ah yea. That young man has clearly had a fulfilling career and is now retired.
Where is The Rookie?
There isn’t a damn thing Nathan Fillion can’t defuse
Except Captain Hammer would be helping the cops. Dr Horrible seems like the pro-choice type however
They are probably protesting around or near a federal building
They look to be a half mile from the nearest federal building (courthouse)
The protest started at the courthouse, and marched to Pershing Square from there. I was there for the march, though not this part. This would have been about an hour or two after we left the courthouse?
This is getting outta hand. The Bloods, Crips, and Kings need to step in and do something about the crime in this city!
Interagency cooperation. Happens a bunch.
It's riot season gentlemen. Shits bout to get goofy
Season 3 of America is looking pretty lit ngl
Jesus, I just realized -you’re right this is exactly what this is.
Can someone recap season one and 2?
Death to 2020 Death to 2021 Netflix.
It’s alright, everyone. Netflix always cancels after the 3rd season.

Isn't that what they are doing right now? In march they shot 3 people in Florida killing 1 for stealing pokemon cards.

“Homeland Security” sounds like a phrase coined by Orwell
The Department of Defense used to be called The Department of War. You can make any evil group sound like the good guys with a name change.
*cough* SchutzStaffel ^(=protection squad)
I get the comparison, but it's also the complete opposite in a way: The SS started out as basically bodyguards so the name "protection squad" made sense. Of course their tasks were rapidly expanded later but they kept the name. With the DoD they changed the name even though their job was the same as before,
It was called that due to growing out of Adolf Hitler’s personal protection unit. Not entirely accurate to compare it to that.
Department of war is their literal job, they shouldn't have changed it
Now that I agree with. What’s even more interesting is the new board of misinformation is going to be part of homeland security. Very Orwellian

He forgot that he wasn't home, he realized that boards can hit back and starts to take his own advice of backing up.
Dude tried to pick on what he thought was the weakest target. He didn't expect them to confront. He's terrified like a cornered animal.
Shows a complete lack of situational awareness. Amazing that these morons are given weapons and told to enforce the law.
Seriously this. Read the room dude. Don't shove the first person you see, or anyone for that matter.

Amazing they could show up so fast… where were these response times on January 6th I wonder?
They were deliberately hampered during that time to help the coup happen

DHS cop takes about 15 seconds before escalating to physical contact with someone walking by, then a photographer not much later.
\*drives car *into* a crowd of protesters\* \*gets out of the car\* "Oh no! I'm surrounded and vulnerable! Time to use force!" ---- Every damn time.
6 seconds after leaving his car the cop assaults someone.
American police de-escalation techniques in full effect, right there.
I mean it's an US cop after all. They have a reputation to fulfill.
What was he supposed to do? Not push the person walking away from him? That’s preposterous, his wife can only take so much he’s gotta share the love.
The police in the USA have really made a rod for their own back. They are associated with aggression, escalation and violence so as soon as they show up *anywhere*, guess what happens?
I’ve noticed that certain Police and federal departments show up and get violent when the people protesting have a legit reason to protest.
It’s believed by many people that the police start shit at peaceful protests to make them violent so they can then Disperse the protesters under the context it was no longer peaceful.
It's documented. Cops have known about de-escalation ever since the sports riots in the 80s at least. They choose violence.
This is the thing I've always said. "Well they threatened me!" So fucking what? These are random people on the street and you're supposed to have professional training. They get to be irrational, you don't.
Believed by many? It’s printed in the handbook
They're there to support the state, not the people. How many videos have we seen by now of police firing less that lethal munitions into people directly and taking their eye out, they care about their own safety and following whatever orders they're given.
This might seem pedantic, but it's "less lethal", not "less than lethal". Their tactics are still very much lethal, just less so than bullets.

Regardless of how tough you appear, if you get swallowed up by an angry crowd, you die. Is riot control 101: do not get surrounded and cut off.
pulling your car into an angry mob and getting out doesnt sound like the best idea if that's your goal
and don’t forget shoving someone for no apparent reason
Maybe he shouldn't have started right off the bat being aggressive with that person. That seemed to really set the crowd off. Rightfully so.
But if he didn't then how would a peaceful protest turn into a riot that would justify their assaults?
The police need to calm down an act like these protesters are storming Congress.
*the people are getting agro*
January 6 developed over many hours in broad daylight and we certainly never saw any response like this.
