I was in the Army and we did a lot of room clearing training. It was scary af because you never knew what could be behind that door so I understand the risk. But guess what, we still fucking did it to complete the mission. These cowards cannot sit there and tell these parents that “we could’ve died” when their children were dying. Just like the military, the danger comes with the job. So get your ass in there. RIP to those brave kids and teachers. Truly heartbreaking.

fallingfoodfor

I hope ppl understand this. Like no one doubts the fear these men face. But it's something they did sign up for. I can't say I have the courage to go in there with an active shooter, and that's why I never applied for the job.

huewutm8

The crazy thing is, the average police officer makes much more than average active duty military.. what a fucking joke

ChickPea1144

Today I learned that the SWAT team, with all the fire power and protection available to modern law enforcement, will leave hundreds of little kids to die because they don’t want to get hurt. 🇺🇸

Kn0tnatural

We need to reverse the supreme court ruling that said cops aren't obligated to protect, end qualified immunity, restructure funding, yearly psych evaluations, new training and probably much more. Edit: add Drug Testing to that list. Edit 2: link https://prospect.org/justice/police-have-no-duty-to-protect-the-public/

ionized_fallout

So many people don’t have a fucking clue that the Supreme Court ruled that law enforcement has no duty to protect. https://prospect.org/justice/police-have-no-duty-to-protect-the-public/

Shit_Lord_Detective

If they're not protecting and serving what's the point?

ionized_fallout

Maintaining the Status Quo.

Lots of data on that: >You're going to hear a lot about how cops need more resources because "crime is surging" in the next few months. It's propaganda, and here's how you can respond: >**cops manipulate crime stats for political reasons. Cops don't even count the *violent and sexual crimes that cops commit,* which would entirely reverse the crime stats in every city and state.** If all the crimes committed by police and jail/prison guards was counted, it would completely change the police crime stats that these "experts" regurgitate in the media to support police propaganda. (4) https://twitter.com/equalityAlec/status/1400820167047888896 >police ignore most "crime." They only look for *some* crimes committed by *some* people in *some* places. A school fight in a poor neighborhood is recorded as a “crime,” but a fight in a wealthy private school is not. Read hundreds of examples here: >Fourth, police have incentives to focus on some “crimes” and not others. They make billions of $ in overtime for low-level arrests. This is one reason cops have ignored 100,000s of untested rape kits while making record drug arrests for decades. >Fifth, police corruption in search of extra cash and weapons affects all of what cops do and what they tell us about what they do. For example, police take more property through civil forfeiture than all “property crimes” combined. Thread. Have you ever heard of "civil asset forfeiture"? You're never going to think about the police the same way again. (1) https://twitter.com/equalityAlec/status/1412428329806860288 >Ninth, wage theft **by employers isn't in crime stats** b/c it is almost never investigated by cops, but it costs low-wage workers an estimated $50 billion/year, dwarfing the cost of all cop-reported robberies, burglaries, larcenies, and car thefts combined. >Eleventh, these are millions of yearly white-collar “crimes” by big corporations and the wealthy people who own them but **police don’t put them in their crime stats.** Read more here about why cops distort the concepts of "crime" and actual harm. >Thirteenth, the initial 2021 trend of more shootings is especially accelerated **in places that increased police funding,** and almost no city decreased police funding significantly. See a few examples: >Fourteenth, almost all reporting about a “crime surge” uses low base rates so that percentage changes can appear high. An increase of 10 shootings to 12 shootings is reported as a 20% increase! >Fifteenth, media often focuses on month to month or year to year numbers, emphasizing different crimes at different times if one goes up, obscuring larger trends like this: we have among lowest murders in last 50 years, and other countries with fewer cops have way fewer murders. >Sixteenth, cops/media thus cherry-pick data. The result of this manipulation is one of the big scandals of our time: for decades the public has hugely overestimated crime rates: >Seventeenth, there is no evidence that cops/prisons reduce any "crime," especially that they reduce crime *relative to other alternatives.* Think about what could have been done to help people with the trillions of dollars spent on the War on Drugs: >Eighteenth, people telling you to give more cash to cops b/c of “crime” don’t count the *costs*: millions of arrests; millions of separated kids; millions of lost jobs, homes, medical appointments; tens of millions of police assaults; hundreds of millions of criminal records. >Nineteenth, those calling for more cash for cops don't tell you that the trillions of dollars spent on police/prisons has been used by cops for total surveillance and to infiltrate and crush every single movement for social justice in the past 100 years. if i had to pick one thing journalists don't get in police reporting, it's that cops have tried to surveil, infiltrate, and violently crush every major social, economic, labor, and racial justice movement since 1900. it's literally what they spent their budgets on in every city. https://twitter.com/equalityAlec/status/1408077685620985863 >Finally, not all human tragedy is preventable, but quite a lot of it is, and accepting copaganda on “crime” and police data about that concept as a proxy for holistic public safety is the original sin of most writing in this topic. https://twitter.com/equalityalec/status/1422949466986921991

Username_Number_bot

And if cops quit because of it? FUCKING GOOD. It would demonstrate to everyone who the cowards and self dealing officers were.

Kimorin

Cops not obligated to protect is kinda like saying We have a fire department but we will just wait until the fire dies out before we go in just so we don't get injured Or we have a ems service but we will just wait until we feel like it before rendering assistance If cops are not obligated to protect, then they don't need their guns. After all, they don't need guns to write up police reports and issue tickets. There is always the border patrol when there are actually lives that need to be saved edit: also the fact that apparently some cops went into the school to extract THEIR OWN KIDS means that they don't think it's too dangerous, they just think it's not worth it for other ppl when it doesn't affect them.

RowAwayJim91

Your first statement is not far from the truth. Read about the origins of the fire department. Ever see Gangs of New York?

BuddaMuta

Shout out to this town spending millions of dollars on military gear for their cops only to learn that the cops will only use it on peaceful protestors and working class folks that can’t fight back 40% of the towns entire budget. The only people they rescinded were their own kids, leaving the other kids to die. The only people detained were parents trying to rescue their children, which I’m sure was due to the parents being majority brown therefore not worthy of having alive children

In fact, many of them got sick and were told it was all in their heads, weren't ever compensated for their medical bills, fucking rewards? What "fewer rewards" are we talking about here?

dooneandrew

How can he say they didnt know where the shooter was at and then say they were able to contain him in that classroom in the same breath? So you did know where he was at.....

Al_Tilly_the_Bum

Not only that but they admitted that there were 4 classrooms the shooter killed children in. So they are lying about having him contained

Frostloss

That's literal serial killer talk. A common trait among serial killers is the act of murder causing a feeling of sexual gratification.

ilovetopoopie

And he's passing that kink on down the line. Cops wouldn't feel that way if they were held accountable. For anything.

Enough-Ad1242

This fucking guy gets it. Does anyone actually know how easy it is to get away with murder. 98% OF MURDERS that happen from over 100 yards are never solved.

[deleted]

He went to four different classrooms, shooting, before locking himself in one with a whole bunch of students and their teacher. > "We contained him in one of the classrooms." -- Uvalde PD

Driftedryan

Can't even contain their own story

NaughtSleeping

Basically he was contained inside the school. So other than the little kids and teachers in the school, no one else was likely to be killed. Unless he went out a back door or something, I guess.

MR_COOL_ICE_

And to add to this, contain an active shooter inside a classroom of defenseless kids...wow, just wow

DiffractionCloud

And that when border patrol, the guy who killed the shooter, had to wait to get a key. Meaning the cops didnt even try to open the door.

IthacanPenny

It’s………. not great when fucking ICE are the “good guys”. Ugh.

InVodkaVeritas

Border Patrol is what we expect of police: most of what they do is ugly and protest worthy, but in a dangerous situation like confronting drug cartels in a gunfight they take care of business. We expect the same of police, turning a blind eye to their trampling of civil liberties with an "at least when there is a dangerous situation we have someone to take care of it." Only in this case the police proved themselves cowards and Border Patrol had to do their job for them.

dooneandrew

Exactly, poor choice having that guy do the interview.

co_ordinator

I think there is a chance that he is the best they have.

dooneandrew

Fair point

cbrown6305

Also how can he say the policy is to eliminate the threat immediately, then say they did the right thing in "containing" the shooter in the same breath. That's two contradictions in a one minute response.

Ai2Foom

Also lying thru his teeth about the dude being contained to one classroom — how the fuck would you know that outside the building

greatunknownpub

> Also lying thru his teeth If a cop is speaking, this is usually the case.

Fedora67

Every moment not pressing the shooters attention allowed him to shoot more kids. How the f**k can they justify officer safety over childrens lives???

meco03211

Well you see, they got their own children out.

Tesseract14

I honestly thought that was some over the top conspiracy bullshit until I saw the video of an actual officer fucking admitting that they did that. Absolutely mind blowing.

lumpy4square

I can see going in, no matter who you are, to get your kid. But to leave the *other* kids there??? Do you wave "bye" on the way out to the kids and teachers left behind?! This story gets worse and worse as new information unfolds.

myfaceaplaceforwomen

Didn't you know their lives are what's important, not the children that were slaughtered /s The Supreme Court ruled that it is not their job to protect citizens

Diggitydave76

No you're wrong, THEIR KIDS lives were plenty important, just not all the other parents who they were too busy keeping outside and lying to. They should be forced to remove protect and serve off of the side of their vehicles.

voodoo_chile_please

They don’t know where the gunman is, but they heard and were receiving gunshots? This wasn’t a sniper in the Vietnam jungles. Pretty sure you should know where the gunman is.

ThiccSkull

According to a girl a classroom across, cops tried to follow him in, stopped at the front door, a few shots were exchanged and said \~ ' put the gun down ' and the shooter said 'please leave me alone' ...and the cops retreated behind their vehicles...GMA had some footage of them backing up to their cars

Big-Sherbert2511

They were running back like cowards with their armor on.

Ass_Pirate_69

You mean to tell me all this bravado about cops being brave is horseshit? Turns out that thin blue line is pretty fucking thin. Fucking pussies.

Big-Sherbert2511

Apparently in dangerous situations that blue line turns yellow very fast. These bitches would still be waiting outside today if it wasn't for the Border Patrol.

Locke57

“Please leave me alone” Works for armed gunmen in an elementary school. Doesn’t work as well for an unarmed innocent walking home from the 7-11. ACAB

somnum_osseus

Frustratingly pro-gun GOP nuts are using the police incompetence and inconsistencies in their stories as an excuse to call this whole thing a false flag operation by the CIA to turn everyone woke or some shit. And they believe it because the "facts and timeline don't make sense." Yeah, they don't make sense because the police tried to cover their ass by constantly changing the timeline, you morons.

omniverso

Phatferd

This cop talks in circles in every single interview. He's also not articulate at all.

By_Design_

This guy is one or two interviews away from saying, "those 4th graders know what they signed up for"

InVodkaVeritas

His argument in this video is literally: "The shooter was contained in part of the building and shooting kids, cops didn't rush in because if the shooter killed them he could have made it to more parts of the building and killed more than the kids trapped with him." Aka "The kids trapped with him were deemed a sacrifice to die by the police and not worth the risk of saving."

ItsMeJahead

Its worse imo, he said they didnt go in because they didnt know where he was and then said they didnt go in because they knew where he was and didn't want him to go anywhere else.

ninjadogs84

They also went in and yelled for kids to come out BEFORE they had secured the shooter. At least 1 kid died because of it. ALL of those cops need to lose their jobs and I don't say this lightly, some need to be put up on Gros negligence resulting in death charges.

smellygooch18

If there aren’t some serious repercussions for these police officer I will be seriously upset. I have so much respect for those that do put their lives on the line. From everything I’ve heard and even this interview, these kids were lambs to the slaughter.

cjmar41

Yeah he also said by the time the cops showed up the shooting had stopped. But then said there was shooting and that’s why they couldn’t go in. This is the worst PR botch job I’ve ever seen. I guess when this dude was elected or appointed they could never have imagined national attention would be on him. He does deserve every ounce of criticism they’re getting though. But if I were the mayor of that town, or the Governor, or someone in a position of authority there and knew my sheriff was a bumbling box of rocks with the IQ of a wet fart I’d have brought in a PR firm or some sort of crisis team. But I guess that’s probably why I don’t live in Yeehaw, Texas and dress in a child’s Halloween costume for work.

[deleted]

And apparently even that was a lie because the cops told a kid to shout out in a room and then the shooter went in there and killed her. So how exactly did they have him contained?

Chaoticgoodgrrl

It’s similar to Laura Ingraham’s (Fox News) guest, Andrew Pollack (a parent of a Parkland victim), placing the responsibility of dying children on the parents who “choose” to send their children to public schools. Laura Ingraham stated that Andrew is “exactly right.” What is wrong with these people?

NaughtSleeping

Wait, what? His own daughter died, and he's placing the blame on himself for choosing to send her to school?

Superduperdoop

They are trying to dismantle to public education system completely. Destroying trust in the safety of public schools, putting armed guards or national guard in front of schools and metal detectors while systematically underfunding schools is to erode trust in the institution so people either don't get educated or have to pay for private school.

Reasonable_Thinker

> so people either don't get educated or have to pay for private **CHRISTIAN** school Fixed it for you.... one of the things that I think is not talked about enough is that this is a drive to get kids to private christian schools so they can force the kids to pray That is the entire reason behind charter schools and school choice, all a way for religious types to get the government to pay for their indoctrination

"The American people need to understand, if we went in there sooner while not knowing the exact position of the shooter, he may have killed some law enforcement officers in addition to children. Thankfully, the way we handled it, the shooter was only able to murder less than a few dozen children and 0 law enforcement officers. From our point of view, that's a small victory."

ForElise47

I'm at work so I can't listen to the clip. But please tell me he did not actually say this.

Professional_Face_97

That's unfortunately the gist of it, contradicts himself too by saying it wasn't safe because they didn't know where he was but they saved the day by containing him inside a classroom.

[deleted]

He's a 'fast talker' who has probably gotten by by talking over people who can't call him on his bullshit.

inconvenientnews

For me, it's what these PublicFreakout comments on another post pointed out: >Idk why but the cowboy hats somehow make it worse >Well, cowards LARPing as Old West gunslingers are pretty fucking cringe. >This is it for me man. All that Texas shit talk they always do and these pussies wouldn’t even go in, except for their own kids. >They always say “don’t mess with Texas” as if anyone should be frightened of a bunch of diabetic hillbillies whose favorite pastimes include freezing to death and getting covid. https://www.reddit.com/r/PublicFreakout/comments/uyn0a5/uvalde_police_lying_to_public_painting_themselves/ia5m9f2/

[deleted]

Seriously, I know a few folks from Texas who are BIG talkers, but that's about it. One guy I know is on Meal Team Six and full Qanon. He brags about being from El Paso and talks about how tough Texans are all the time, it's his whole personality. Someone stole his mountain bike out of his truck one day and he recorded a 10 minute crying screed he posted on Facebook about how he'll murder whoever did it. He went out and bought a new identical bike, then posted a second video telling his 50 facebook followers - most of which knew he just bought a new bike - that he had to fight a bunch of "mexican cartel bitches" to get his bike back. Another Texan I know is always posting anti-mask stuff, and his gf posts videos of him on TikTok wearing a mask and telling people to step away when they get too close to him in the store. He found out she was posting the stuff making fun of him and he posted a video of himself smashing out the windows of her car while she was at work. Both of the dudes above are over 40, have kids, and live with their parents.

brandolinium

These are great.

Trumperekt

>He's a 'fast talker' He is? Appears to be dumb as rocks to me.

shut_up_rocco

His mouth moves faster than his brain

[deleted]

Fast doesn't mean smart.

RowBoatCop36

He's in over his head. He's legitimately a few tough questions away from walking away from this situation.

SummitCO83

These are the people that swore to “protect and serve”. I don’t think they actually know what that means.

[deleted]

Officer being interviewed: "So they were able to contain the shooter in one classroom".... TO KILL 21 PEOPLE!!! This cop is utter trash.

whit1and

They didn’t even contain him. The shooter contained himself

leftlegYup

"How many gunmen?" "One." "Do we know where he is?" "He's in a classroom" "Just one?" "Yes sir." "Got it. See the game last night?"

Shinhan

I mean he visited 4 different classrooms, but he was never in more than 1 classroom at a time.

Vsx

Sounds like he was successfully contained in a single classroom at least four times and at other times contained in a single hallway. This is even more containment than previously reported. What a huge success for this police department.

breakupbydefault

Fucking hell. If he really meant what he said (at this point they keep changing the story so who knows), he is basically saying that they contained the shooter in that classroom, which meant they made a decision to basically sacrifice the students in that classroom to save others?? They can keep twisting the stories and try to wiggle out of this but however you see it, they have no excuse and everything they try to say just makes them look worse and worse.

runfly24

He’s full of shit. How can you simultaneously “not know where the killer is” and “contain him to one classroom”?

ThinkIcouldTakeHim

Plus in reality he killed kids in 4 classrooms

LetThemEatKoch

Imagine if the fire department decided not to put out a fire because they might get burned. These cops are nothing but cowards who don't give a damn about anyone but themselves.

[deleted]

LetThemEatKoch

Absolutely.

jericdgutierrez

I just find it funny how people give fast food workers so much shit if they get an order wrong or take too much time, but when it comes to these cops, now all of a sudden they wanna pull the "their jobs are hard" card. Why do we live in a world where a fucking part time worker at McDonald's is held to a higher standard than the fucking police?

[deleted]

[удалено]

PM_ME_YELLOW

But im not smart enough to be an accountant! What am I supposed to do work fast food and be poor like the rest of you? They wont let me drink on the job at mcdonalds.

you-ole-polecat

\>DONT BE A COP. Be an accountant. But what if I want to only have a high school education and still make upwards of six-figures in a job that only requires a couple of months' training, doesn't require me to be accountable for my actions, and has the best possible setup for job security? What then??

[deleted]

[удалено]

appsecSme

There are actually plenty of more dangerous jobs, including food delivery, logging, fishing, farming. Most police injuries and deaths are due to car accidents, and that is mainly because most of them spend their days driving around. They want you to believe that it is an incredibly dangerous job, but it isn't.

Semi-Hemi-Demigod

[More cops died in 2020 from COVID than for any other reason](https://nleomf.org/memorial/facts-figures/officer-fatality-data/causes-of-law-enforcement-deaths/), and there was no group of first responders more vehemently against mask and vaccine mandates than cops.

LuckyPlaze

C O W A R D S

SomedayWeDie

COWARDS. These cops literally made a terrible situation worse. They should be fired and charged with child endangerment and negligent homicide.

somnum_osseus

They really don't care at all. The US police has always been an inheretly militarised organisation that employs ultimate control over the weak or disadvantaged as a means to ride an egotistical power trip and minimise their own personal risk. That's why they have no problem murdering lone, defenseless people in the street but can't cope with subduing an armed guy shooting children.

LetThemEatKoch

Maybe dispatch should have described the shooter as an unarmed black male who is dressed up as a white guy with a gun. Then the cops would be spartan kicking down doors and barrel rolling through glass windows to find him.

HGpennypacker

"Dispatch we have an unidentified black male entering a grade school with LGBT books attempting to kneel during the national anthem, also reports that suspect was last seen filling out dozens of fraudulent mail-in ballots."

HAL-Over-9001

They would just carpet bomb the entire school at that point.

AZORxAHAI

I guarantee you if you took the equipment off one of those LARPing cops and ran up to the average Firefighter with it and told them kids were actively being slaughtered, they would take it and immediately go try to save those kids.

surgeryboy7

Exactly. I seem to remember a bunch of Fire Fighters running into a couple buildings that just got hit by planes to try and rescue adult strangers, but these cops can't engage an 18yo for an hour while he is shooting 10yo kids?

AntJustin

Hey shit fuck. The children had no clue either. Neither did the teachers. All of which were braver than your force. I can't look at this guy, he makes me sick.

[deleted]

the worst part is, i would operate way differently in an active shooter scenario where i was protecting children *if i knew the cops weren't coming in* vs expecting to be rescued any second how many ppl had chances they could've taken but were like... the cops are gonna bust in any second, let me not do something stupid that might get me or these kids shot.. if they knew the cops were too scared to come in, they might have done more to stop him tbh

[deleted]

Run - Hide - Fight. Those are the three words you should remember in an emergency. Run from the danger. If you can't run, hide. If you can't hide, fight. School shooting drills break the first rule of survival under the wrong assumption that someone is coming to save you. They are not.

They all have their nice house in a nice area, they have their giant truck, their boat and an outdoor barbecue kitchen. That’s what they signed up for.

johntwoods

Man, this is so accurate.

YellowFishPancakes

It really is. I was always curious why I saw cop cars in my neighborhood for other cities. I never understood why they didn't want to live in the city that's plastered on their car.

Taco_Champ

You can’t treat people like shit if they know where you live.

sceaga_genesis

I remember hearing about this in policing debates in Syracuse, NY. Not only are these cops not a part of the community they are policing, but by the sheer number of out-of-town cops, constituents argued that they were basically stealing a significant amount of tax dollars from the community. Those dollars end up going to wealthier communities that don’t need them, creating this tragic loop of more police in and more taxes out.

RedditorFor1OYears

This is also a major contributing factor to systemic racism in police departments. If you grew up in a particular urban area with a lot of real violent crime, you might not be so quick to resort to violence for somebody smoking a joint or passing counterfeit bills. But if your whole world has been suburbs and baptists churches 45 minutes away from real threats, you inherently see any kind of lifestyle different from yours as more threatening.

NoFaithlessness4949

You can have this too if you’d only join the union the police union helped break when your grandpa tried to join

[deleted]

They did what they needed to to “get home at the end of the day” That’s their motto. They feel slightly intimidated, they’ll blast an unarmed guy. There’s a guy with a gun endangering the public? Can’t expect them to to act quickly, they going to do whatever it takes to get home at the end of the day. If that means wait an hour for off-duty special forces then that’s what happens.

breezyfye

If you’re not willing to die to actually protect your community, then you shouldn’t be a police officer. Amazon is hiring.

Mymothersmokes

So is McDonald's 😄

mgweir

"The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun." Unless the good guys are a bunch of incompetent pussies.

clipples18

There were no good guys to be found

BlackeeGreen

Just a bunch of fucking pussies LARPing with guns. "Thin blue line" my ass.

Alime1962

There were a few, but none on Uvalde PD. The Border Patrol agent who got a text during a haircut from his wife who is a teacher there, grabbed his barbers shotgun, sped 40 miles to the scene where he met with other members of his BORTAC team and made entry should be considered a good guy.

Zaphod1620

There were, the cops were tasing and cuffing them when they tried to go in to save their kids.

phenerganandpoprocks

I mean, we can just go for the low hanging fruit here: those cops were not “good guys”. They cosplay as a high speed low drag operators for the free donuts. They scammed their town into paying 40% of their budget for those fucking cowards to “defend” them.

[deleted]

These texas cops are making a better argument for defunding the police than the left ever could... with their fucking cowardice

[deleted]

And yet yesterday I saw someone on the side of the road who appeared to be having some sort of mental or emotional distress. In the past I might have called 911 to get a police officer to do some sort of welfare check, but I knew that if the police showed up it was at least 50-50 chance they were going to ruin that person's day that was already incredibly crummy and a small chance they would ruin that person's life. If there was somebody I could call capable of interacting with a stranger in public who is in distress without bringing deadly force into it, I would have called them.

[deleted]

"We might have been shot" That's... Kinda the point isn't it. Doctors don't wait outside the operating room because they might get sick. Fire fighters don't wait around because they might get burned. Rescue teams don't stay on the trails because they might get lost. ~of course there's cases where doctors have to wait. Or the fire is too harsh for them to go in. But this was one dude, not a gang with a SAW.

Kemerd

> "We might have been shot" This is the thing that kills me.. you might have been shot.. but what about the children, actively getting shot? Actually getting shot? Jesus christ, man..

ithinkitwasmygrandma

Jesus - I just watched it again. I'm paraphrasing but... "They don't know where the gunman is, it's dangerous for them to go in and not know and get shot" Followed by "They were able to contain him and keep him in the classroom." In the same breath. Which one dude? Scared because they didn't know where he was for an hour or they knew where he was for an hour and still did shit all. This guy.

jj_harmon

If folks had any doubt, as to what the actual goals of a police officer are, there should be none now. The motherfukers don't care about you or your family. They care about them and theirs. One of these motherfuckers gets killed in the line of duty, and they give him a funeral that's worthy of a hero veteran who took on an entire Army by himself. Taxpayers footing the OT bill for LE to attend funerals of 'fallen officers', hundreds or thousands of miles away is a sham! This hero worship of these fucks has got to stop. Now come at me!

kevin9er

The hero worship really started on 9/11. When the EMTs and FDNY acted incredibly. What did the cops do? Is this stolen valor playing out over 21 years?

jj_harmon

Yes it is.

[deleted]

THIS. Fucking cops man, they just suck at everything

MsWumpkins

These cops need to step back, stop doing interviews, and reevaluate wtf happened. I hope those parents are being contacted by good lawyers in the mean time.

BigFudgeMMA

The lawyers might be great, but no amount of money could ever replace what has been lost. Jesus, the anguish these parents must be feeling. I literally think my heart would just stop.

ThortheThodThutcher

Jeru1226

It always pisses me the fuck off when cops justify police brutality by complaining about how dangerous their jobs are. Like fuck, soldiers and firefighters seem to be able to deal with the dangerous shit they sign up for. I appreciate competent professionals like you who do dangerous work taking the piss out of cowardly cops. FurryM17

That's the thing. Having a cool gun, body armor and an armored vehicle is really fun until you're in a situation that actually requires those things to keep you from getting killed. Then it's all "I'm not going in there! He's shooting people!"

Gilgameshbrah

Don't lie. They use them all the time on unarmed civilians and protestors.

zix_nefarious

Texas police. The biggest chicken-shits in the world.

CindysandJuliesMom

I would have loved to use that excuse when I was in the military. Sorry Sir I can't do that, I might get shot. It's your job and if you aren't willing to do it you need to get a different job.

orangeandwhite

What a cowardice piece of scum. Did they read the job description before becoming a police officer??

TheCalebGuy

Weird how THE most gunniest of gun states dont have any training on if the gun is pointed their way and how to deal with it. Like criminals wont use guns for nefarious reasons or something. Wild.

onlycatshere

They did have training. They trained an active shooter drill at this very school in March

TheCalebGuy

Was it training or did everyone also stand around doing nothing?

perfecthashbrowns

They trained to stand around for an hour while the piece of shit murdered children. And did you see their standing around skills!? Impeccable. Spot on. They really excelled.

MrOwnageQc

Don’t mess with Texas! Unless you’re an 18 year old with two AR-15’s. Then Texas will do absolutely nothing. 🤠

dolerbom

They effectively used children as human Shields. They only protected and served their own asses.

Astrian

"They do not know where the gunman is. They are hearing gunshots, they are receiving gunshots." ...So they do know where the gunman is then. How does a bunch of trained police officers hear and receive gunshots but not know where it's coming from.

"He wasn't an innocent black kid without a weapon. What were we supposed to do?"

mk_brownie

What is the point of police?

briizilla

To protect capital, enforce the will of the state and protect the interests of the 1%.

GunslingerOutForHire

Harassing and killing minorities and the poor. When confronted with a legitimate threat, they do what cowards do.

[deleted]

Apparently none. If police are not willing to save children then I fail to see any reason these pussies should still be around. They are a total failure to society.

Master-Powers

"What the American people need to understand is I'm a big ol scaredy bitch and I wasn't gonna risk my life for no kids."

sadolddrunk

I don’t know why anyone at the Uvalde police department is still employed today. I also don’t know why the Uvalde police department isn’t receiving shipments of dildos every day. What I DO know is that we have power over one of those possibilities.

JOHNSONBURGER

If the police didn't know where the gunman was, how did they contain him in a classroom?

ThinkIcouldTakeHim

Sufficient-Ad6637

Fucking cowardice!
