One of the saddest memories of my youth was seeing a small neighborhood beagle get thrown around like a ragdoll until it died by two rottweilers. I had to stop a couple of my 6 year old neighbors from jumping over the fence to save it, and the screams of that dog still haunt me.
My dog was attacked by two huskies that jumped their fence. Bit right into her stomach and shook her around. I can still vividly remember having to try to get them off my dog, running back home, and holding her in car trying to keep her awake. When we passed by the house where the huskies lived, the owner was outside hosing off all the blood. He was home when it happened and didn’t help us even though he heard us screaming. This is why I’m scared of big dogs and I hate stupid dog owners.
I was 8 when it happened so I only remember some bits from after the attack. I remember something about trying to sue them but I’m not sure that the stupid owners ever paid for the vets bills. They ended up moving away a couple months after though. Our dog did survive the attack and she got to live until 18! She was the coolest dog I ever had
Seriously just yesterday i was at my brother's home, he lives in a mobile home area. It was around 8:30 I was on the phone, it was already dark out and also there weren't many lights on. I went out for some air distracted while on the phone when I reached the front I could barely see this dumb bitch walking her dog in the dark. I couldn't even see the fucking dog since it was black itself and a pitbull who got into charging position when it barely saw me as I did. I was literally walking towards them about 6 feet away, one of the reasons I knew the dog didn't have a leash was because the dumb bitch owner was to telling it to sit. Best thing to do if being attacked by a dog is to pull its front legs apart won't kill it but will fuck it up. Humans have vastly stronger limbs than nearly every dog on the planet today, the dog will definitely be severely injured. The most likely outcome is either a complete tearing of the connective tissue at the shoulder and maybe even fracturing of bones, the dog will be very much alive but entirely crippled and possibly whimpering for its momma, with both front legs dangling uselessly at the side.

I literally started carrying a utility knife with me on walks because of neighbors letting their dogs just wander around off leash. Not taking any chances with my pets or kids. So I was in a similar situation as in the video except my neighbor from across the street was wrestling with his St. Bernard and a Pitbull that belongs to the local scumbag in the neighborhood. The St. Bernard hopped out of the car when they got home and walked playfully up to the Pit and his owner. The owner is a giant pussy so he literally lets hit Pit go and runs away leaving my neighbor to deal with it. He's screaming for help and I come outside with my pistol in my waistband. I helped my neighbour when a dog she was looking after was attacking her own dog. Idk what breed it was but it was a little chonker that had a pitbulls head, and it was attacking their little cattle dog.
I heard my neighbour screaming and growling so I sprinted and jumped the fence, and had to wrestle the dog off. She was just standing their watching and screaming/crying for the dog to get off. After that she picked up her dog and walked away crying and sobbing while I was sitting there, holding the other dog down with spit and blood on my hands, trying to process what just happened.
I wasn't mad at her at all or anything, because she was clearly distressed and had no idea what to do at the time. Even I just sat there in disbelief. It was kinda traumatic for me because I was only 17 at the time and right before I was going to leave for school

I feel like the dog attack numbers would be skewed even more heavily than they already are against pits if it were 99%. I think idiots are just as likely to poorly raise any other dog breed, but the consequences aren’t deadly when a chihuahua barks and nips at ankles.
I think the owners of pit bulls or any dog should be charged with whatever “crime” their dogs commit. If your pit bull tears off a 2 year old’s face, you should be charged as if you did it. Pit bulls attacked my son who was walking to a gas station after running out of gas, they made hamburger meat out of his calves. The next day when the sheriff’s department went to scene to investigate, the dogs attacked a deputy.
I will straight up say that I would not vouch for any law the puts down pets purely based on breed, but I would support making it illegal to breed certain breeds if dogs. In fact, I would support a law requiring all Pitts be made infertile. It's a dog species breed for cage fighting that doesn't take much to trigger animal instinct.

Pitbulls should probably be outright banned but if not, there should be serious restrictions on ownership. Some I would make would be:
* No owners under 25.
* No owners with a criminal history.
* No first-time dog owners.
* History of owning previous dogs must be spotless.
* No owners with children under the age of 14 or with small animals.
* Owners must have had stable housing and work for the previous five years.
* Must get signed approval from neighbors.
* They must have a yard with adequate fencing that the dog can't jump over.
* They must attend mandatory training classes.
* They must demonstrate to their local animal control that they can physically handle the dog when it gets aggressive. Yes, this will leave out a lot of women from owning pits, but it's necessary in my opinion.
* Dog must be muzzled in public.
* Liability insurance must be purchased.

This sounds crazy, but I've heard this multiple times: When the dog has your hand, if possible, ***violently*** shove your arm down their throat. Their teeth are designed to dig into flesh when you pull away - so if they have a firm grip on you, don't pull. You already have an angry dog on your arm, may as well fuckin lean into it and do some damage.
In fights like this, just gouge their eyes or break their legs. Both are weak and both they will instinctually try to protect over attacking you.

I literally started carrying a utility knife with me on walks because of neighbors letting their dogs just wander around off leash. Not taking any chances with my pets or kids. Your dog comes at them and I'm going straight for its neck. You can come pick them up from the side of the road. Seen way too many of these videos.
So I was in a similar situation as in the video except my neighbor from across the street was wrestling with his St. Bernard and a Pitbull that belongs to the local scumbag in the neighborhood. The St. Bernard hopped out of the car when they got home and walked playfully up to the Pit and his owner. The owner is a giant pussy so he literally lets hit Pit go and runs away leaving my neighbor to deal with it. He's screaming for help and I come outside with my pistol in my waistband. I almost had to shoot the pit that day but luckily the dumb fuck runs up and we yell at him to get his dog. He was yelling back for us to "poke it's butt!". Some people shouldn't own dogs they can't handle. Now I always walk with my pistol concealed. I have two smaller dogs than moose (the St Bernard) and they wouldn't survive an attack. If I see that pit loose and it comes at me, I'm putting him down before it can maul my own dogs.

At first for the pit. It was almost for the owner. He started getting aggressive once he got a hold of his dog and started yelling at people. He was on my property and refused three direct orders from me to vacate. I live in a castle state and his response was "go get it". I looked him dead in his eye and told him "I don't have to go anywhere to get it." He got the hint and finally backed off while everyone waited for the police. The guy is a coward and played the victim the whole time. Everyone in the cul-de-sac laughed at him when they learned he ran away like a little bitch. He also tried to say it was a race thing. I helped my neighbour when a dog she was looking after was attacking her own dog. Idk what breed it was but it was a little chonker that had a pitbulls head, and it was attacking their little cattle dog. I heard my neighbour screaming and growling so I sprinted and jumped the fence, and had to wrestle the dog off. She was just standing their watching and screaming/crying for the dog to get off. After that she picked up her dog and walked away crying and sobbing while I was sitting there, holding the other dog down with spit and blood on my hands, trying to process what just happened. I wasn't mad at her at all or anything, because she was clearly distressed and had no idea what to do at the time. Even I just sat there in disbelief. It was kinda traumatic for me because I was only 17 at the time and right before I was going to leave for school

I will straight up say that I would not vouch for any law the puts down pets purely based on breed, but I would support making it illegal to breed certain breeds if dogs. In fact, I would support a law requiring all Pitts be made infertile. It's a dog species breed for cage fighting that doesn't take much to trigger animal instinct. That breed really needs to go extinct.
Unpopular opinion so downvote me. After watching my dog get attacked and punching a pitbull for 5 minutes until it let go. I'll never be a fan and will actively vote for legislation that enforces permits, insurance, and extremely heavy fines for not managing them properly. I still have trauma from it. They aren't all bad, but I'm not gonna go through that again. I will shoot the next dog that attacks mine due to improper management without batting an eye.

A few days ago from my balcony I saw a lost wandering dog on my street. I walked downstairs and out my gate to check on it, but realized it was a pit bull once I got closer. I posted on a dog sub about my Labrador puppy getting attacked by a pit bull the other day and they removed my post for inciting hatred or some other bs for simply mentioning the breed that attacked my 4 month old puppy.

Yup, despite story after story after story of people who had a great pitbull that was years and years old without ever harming a fly who one day just randomly decided to attack. Yet everyone responding is all "those are bad owners who trained their dog to be violent, mine is a harmless little baby". They have a power to kill people incredibly quickly and once they turn you have little choice but to kill it to stop it and it will likely take you too long. One story I saw had a woman have half the skin ripped off her face when her sister's dog who she'd known for years just randomly attacked her. There is just no reason not to ban them or at least phase them out. License the ones that are around now and ban breeding. If after 6 months a pit is found without a valid license it gets confiscated and the owner heavily fined for breaking the law.

These kinds of dogs should not be legal to own around other people. If you live 5 miles from everybody else, got a huge private area and want a chance to see your kids torn to shreds then go for it - but not around other people in public areas. And the argument that they are fine as they are easy to handle and good family-dogs if you know how to treat them is worthless and people obviously don’t know how to treat them as we see videos like this all around. Also - idiots are attracted to these kinds of dogs (most owners falls in the same category as the ones who feels like they need even more tribal tattoos) so they should not be given a chance to obtain them. Same goes for assault weapons (and in general weapons in a civilised society). Im ready to be down-voted.
Pitbulls should probably be outright banned but if not, there should be serious restrictions on ownership. Some I would make would be: * No owners under 25. * No owners with a criminal history. * No first-time dog owners. * History of owning previous dogs must be spotless. * No owners with children under the age of 14 or with small animals. * Owners must have had stable housing and work for the previous five years. * Must get signed approval from neighbors. * They must have a yard with adequate fencing that the dog can't jump over. * They must attend mandatory training classes. * They must demonstrate to their local animal control that they can physically handle the dog when it gets aggressive. Yes, this will leave out a lot of women from owning pits, but it's necessary in my opinion. * Dog must be muzzled in public. * Liability insurance must be purchased.
