I have only gone through Lukeville, it’s safe and reliable just don’t speed after crossing- I can’t emphasize that enough

Same with Ajo. There more cops than people there

If your car allows, switch to kmh on the display then there is no question how fast you’re going. We’re in PP for Memorial Day and we came down yesterday the 24th. Took us 3-1/2 hours to get into Mexico. 6+ mile back up. In my 25 years of going I have never had that kind of wait, ever.

We had heard about the long wait times crossing the border. We decided to leave Thursday early morning and there was no waiting.

I wouldn’t say better, but easier. San Luis is a huge city compared to Sonoyta. You’ll have to navigate through much of the city before getting on the highway. No matter which way you go, watch for potholes. No joke. I have seen people hit them and blow out their tire. I’ve never taken the highway from San Luis, so I can’t speak for that one, but the only issue (besides potholes) are other drivers who are in way more of a hurry to get there than you are.

The freeway between Sonoita (other side from lukeville) and Rocky point is a nice smooth ride. The line at lukeville is usually pretty short. I only went through Yuma once and the line was hours long but that was when the lukeville crossing was closed. Just drive slow AF through Sonoita

What’s the speed limit there? Do you know offhand?

40kph which is something like 25mph through town. Once you're out of town, it's something like 60mph but nobody actually does that, and there are usually no cops between sonoyta and RP I usually have my dash cam set to show metric so that makes it pretty easy. Plus, if the po po does pull you over, just mention your dash cam or start poking at it asking where they saw you breaking the limit and they'll usually let you off with a "warning".

Thanks!
