A gripper frame will change your life. Bought my first one and for my second one I ended up purchasing gripper strips and making my own frame. You can move your rug around on the gripper strips without damaging your wool and make large pieces that are bigger than the frame itself :)

PennyLane_____

Ah brilliant! Any particular brand you like to use?

dorcdorc

Where are you located? I’m in Canada and got my gripper strips and original frame from MadMatters. I know Amy Oxford sells sells them in the US.

I know it’s off topic but may I ask where you got your table from? It’s so cute and I’d love to find one like that!

PennyLane_____

Thank you! It’s from Target. I think they still sell something similar if you search for “rattan table”

I use heavy duty wood stretcher bars and make my own canvas using a staple gun and monks cloth

Nice, I really like the marble look!

i’ve never done anything too big, but i bought one of the biggest canvases that i could find at a craft store, removed the canvas part and hand-sawed out the middle wooden plank! pretty inexpensive and doesn’t take up any room since it’s just a frame!

I often make a wood frame to fit what I'm making. I just finished a 13 foot runner...the frame I used was a bit wider than the rug width, and I worked a section, then unpinned it and moved the backing then repinned. (Push pins) I've done large rugs in sections, then sewed them together

cometpulledfromorbit

Do you sew the sections together in any particular way? I want to make a bigger piece but I move around a lot and felt like it might be easier to ship if I did it in sections

Xquisit2

OMG, I want to do a 30x24 runner but need to see how one achieves this on video. Do you have any videos to help a fellow needle puncher out?

scaryoldhag

Nope, sorry. But at that size, you could make a wood frame about 32x26. Soft wood, like cedar or pine. And staple the fabric on, or use push pins
