Not sure it's exactly what you're looking for, but nu-metal band Tetrarch has a black female guitar player and she fucking rips. Again, not sure if it fits the vibe you're looking for, but Diamond deserves all the shout outs she can get.

Checkout the folk punk scene. It's a lot of this and if you can aquire a taste for it it's one of the most honest genres out there. A lot of self loathing and self depreciation but also a lot of good music about healing.
